Hey Joey would you be able to go through the leveling process you use for the top of the aquarium stand? You mentioned plywood but I'd love to see your process to ensure your tank won't crack. Thanks
Sign those 1 inch 'waste pieces' and sell them as souvenirs when you open the galery. No waste at all
Or use them as entry ticket :)
Have a drawing on here for fans to win
Ngl this is a great idea, I would buy
Not a bad idea
Brilliant idea!!
Joey has the energy of like, six people !
made my first stand about 3 years ago from watching your old videos. I'm glad you re-visited it because it is simply one of the best skills a DIY'er can learn in the fish hobby. Props, Cheers, keep on keeping on Joey.
Facts especially with these stand prices!
Dude I'm sweating looking at that pile of 2x4's. Wood is so damn expensive this year.
yeah the price nearly gave me a heartattck a week ago. Depending on the kind of wood its like 3-4 times more expensive than around 5 years ago, if i remenber correctly.
Nobody really questions why tho do they
@@Zwenable more like a yr ago
@@wolverinebear5357 It's because lumber/plywood is in high demand and will be for a while since Covid caught homebuilders and lumberyards completely off guard. Everyone started buying them and doing their own in-home projects.
Price pretty much went back to normal…. 7/16 OSB was $60 a sheet and before covid it was $11, now it’s back at $14 locally.
The pricing of 4x2 have gone up in Wales aswell, it was even on the news :D
Thank Beijing Biden for that 😆
Yeah, Lumber prices are insane rn
I've watched and used your advice for years. Pleasure to watch your content grow. Thanks for everything!
Your book is the best DIY resource out there. Hands down. I built all my stands like this now too. Tweaked a little for cosmetic and finishing touches, but the insides of my stands all look like this. Thanks Joey!
Welcome back King Of DIY .So great to see you really enjoying yourself . 🤗.
Love that you did another stand video, especially with this one going into more technical aspect and behind the scenes of it. Currently in the planning stage for a Mega-Stand for the wife. We're building a stand that's gonna hold two 55s side by side, along with it getting boxed in on the top to put a 35inch TV on the top. Yay personal engineering.
Now this is the DIY content that I miss. Awesome work on the Gallery!
So great to be at the start of this massive journey with you! I just want to binge watch everything you haven’t even recorded yet!!!
Your video has been very helpful for me as I go in search of a stand for a 75 gallon tank I’m getting quite soon! I’d looked at countless store bought ready made stands and didn’t really like any of them, especially after reading reviews. So I went in search of a heavy wooden table! Found a couple but didn’t know if they would be exactly suitable but based on this video the one I liked best IS quite suitable! It’s built much like that last one you showed with no center piece, except this has 4x4s for the legs! Very stout!
I've got to be honest I know you don't think anyone wants to see you building stands but I enjoy watching your efficiency I'm hoping to build my own stand soon when I've got a bit of time
I am so glad you did this! I learned so much again from watching you again! My 180 sits on stand I built with your directions!!!! I loved this😁
Thanks Joey. Hey those of cuts of wood why dont you use then if in a crafts thing for children then you can let them either paint them, draw fish or create keyrings out of them if your spring a shop etc... onto which can be there put on the walls to say your working with the community. I'm like you and hate waste so just a thought 😁
Love this idea
Thanks for going back to the old school tutorials!
When you talked about building the stands in your previous video, I was wishing you could show how to build them again, and you did! Thank you!
I really would like to see an instructional on how to build a bow front aquarium stand
I love you walking into the new gallery from the front door in the beginning. Looks so official.
Diy king is well back this is going to be epic 💥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌
I can’t thank you enough for the stand vids when I got my 5ft tank I couldn’t find a stand anywhere that wasn’t expensive give one of these stands a go and found it simple and sturdy thanks again 😁
Have you considered having tanks in groups of 2 back to back?
That would be a cool concept if you made the two tanks with hardscapes that seem to flow from one tank into the next, but with fish that don't do well together so you can still have both.
So excited to see more of these informational videos coming back! I commented on last video yesterday, but I’ll comment again here! When you bring fish over to the gallery, please do a tips and tricks on how to safely move them for those of us who want a fish tank but plan on moving years on down the road!
I will be!
@@thekingofdiy thank you so much sir! Excited to see everything you’re doing!!
😂 still feels so surreal that this is happening! It's really exciting! It's starting to look great 👌👌👌
I love that you're revisiting builds, even if its quick. The explanations and math are great. I said this a yr or 2 ago. Glad to see you teaching a new Era of aquariumist
Do it support glass aquarium?
The exact video i was looking for, in terms of size to load bearing. Thanks a tonne.
Yea I’m building some stands for some 125’s right now. Hated spending so much for lumber but definitely cheaper than buying.
Just about to start making a stand for my 3.5 foot tank. Great video Joey
Keeping the stands short will also accommodate your guests in wheelchairs, and that's a good thing.
These build videos have so much nostalgia in them 😍
(Let's go Joe)
I build my own stands now thanks to your book and vids, highly recommend 😊👍
Okay Joe I see your new big idea is really coming together. Still can't believe where this channel has gone over the years. Good work man keep it up.
Great video, I'm enjoying more DIY stuff. Though your content was never lacking, more entertained and still learning
Don't call yourself cheap, I actually appreciate your video as a big tank owner! I learn so many things from you and saved a good amount of $$! Keep up the awesome video!
Joey. Your making great progress! Can’t wait to visit next spring!
I love this video : it bring back my memories when you start the hobby .
*Your so awesome Joey! I love watching all your videos and can't wait til your able to get the place opened up to the public!*
Dude that's so much work, but I can't wait to see your final setup in this new spot. So much room for activities haha keep the awesome content coming man. Love that your doing what YOU want to do! I know ppl will watch regardless -Z
Thanks for this, simple and super strong!
Joey's on a Grind..
some times when I fly I'll go back and reread your book, don't have the space to try everything out I want but once I do I'm ready.
Built my first one today. A couple of bumps along the way, but otherwise it went great!! This will be my build for any future stands.
So useful! I’ve used your advice in my latest build!
Well built stands. Nice work.
Awesome, ty! I'm definitely saving this
Love your videos and keep up the good work you inspired me to the aquarium hobby
I love your videos 📹... your videos are the type that you just being eating and chilling watching ....
Thanks I've been wanting to make a stand the past few weeks this will help me a lot thanks
Love this build!
Out 'standing' work. Thanks
I love your videos they’re so information and ur passion for this in motivating
The king of DIY Is baaaaaack!!!! Man I don't know what it is but you are so relatable that make me feel really proud, to see you succeed... Even though I haven't met you and I'm really far... In Costa Rica... Makes me hype even though probably i won't be able ever to visit the gallery in person. Can't wait to see the vid of the complete gallery!!! Congrats!!!!
I love a good stand building video
You might be busy all day long for your tank installation! Glad to see all the stuffs done
Joey: "So to give you just a rough idea, a tank weighs about 10-12 pounds per gallon"
The metric part of the world: "Or you know, 1 kilogram per 1 liter of water"
He is taking into account the weight of the glass or acryllic and the weight of the substrate and decor in that estimation though
@@UlasAktok I know, but those too are a LOT easier in metric to estimate. Rock is around 1600kg/m3 or for easier measuring: 1600kg per 1000L.
If you can only fit 240L of water in your 300L aquarium, you know there's 60L or 96kg of rock/sand in there.
Or glass weighs 15kg/m² for 6mm, so a 1x1x0.5m aquarium weighs 45kg.
There's just a lot less guessing required in metric, because everything relates in easy ways :-)
Still kudos to Joey for building all this, he does an amazing job and I love watching him :+)
I miss videos like this.... love the building videos
Just the video I needed
cant wait to see the finish product this is gonna be cool
You are amazing mate
*Beautiful vlog. Stay connected😊*
Thanks so much this helped with my overall design i was pretty close on my own but double checking i fixed my design. And can be on my way to building this. Instead of plywood im doing 2x8 top put them together then stain and poly it all . Then add the bottom shelf. 50 long , 20 wide and 30 tall . My tank is 21 inch high by said and done my height should be around 52ish depending how thick the 2x8s are i just dont recall till i get em. This helped immensely with my thought process to tackle this way better. Awesome video. I would of liked to see more close ups. Top view its nice to see how its all tied in together than just looking a few feet back. I paused it and was able to pick out the design. Thanks so much!
That answers my question about why didn't you buy the stands.
Thank you!
One of your best videos love the dump of information!!!!
Awesome Vid , great knowledge. love you man
Ok this tutorial was definitely what I needed!! I'm planning on making my own stand for my first ever aquarium and I want it to be very long since I want it to also work as a media unit for the TV. So I'm talking 3 meters long (about 10 feet) but not so high, no more than maybe 1.5 feet. I was thinking of doing like 4 middle supports and have it standing on legs made out of 4×4 positioned right under the middle supports. The aquarium is a 30 gallon and will be put on the right side of the long stand. Do you think this will work?
Looks great
You’re the best. Thanks.
Good video. Got a few good tips for my next build.
Although, I much prefer the "guides" to be the full height, then they directly support from the tank to the floor, with no shear loads and no connections, especially if you put a piece of ply on top to help distribute the weight more evenly.
Looking at the construction of available stands, I prefer the DIY stands not as much for the savings, but the commercially made ones are not build nearly as robustly. I think their safety factor is more like 1.1 than 4 times! I bought a used 120G with stand; looks very nice with pretty trim, but once I looked at the structure I was like never getting a commercial stand again!
Big Love bro i am so stocked and cant wait to cross the northern border to see the gallery i got your front not your back.... Love the motivation i need it
No wonder the Channel is called The King of DIY ..
Love the videos
Just purchased your book..... Thanks brother
Thanks I was looking for the 2x4 support weight. I have a hand made sturdy stand that currently holds a 50 gallon. And I want to put a 65 gallon on it
Great video
Built your design for a 6x2x2 and have to say it was solid as, good on you for doing a new video on the topic.
What was your measurements for the stand
When we go to get 2x4's we need to reject at least 50% of them due to knots, twisting, warpage and damage.
I stopped into this one place and they told me 75% of the lumber coming in is cull wood compared to the 10% before the pandemic.
Australian timber ive heard is dense an hard as heck
This was a great video! So informative! Thank you
Great video. I've seen your earlier one on the same subject, but this was easier to understand.
I heard you say the floors are rubber? I guess when you're dealing with 1000s of pounds, it won't matter. But just wondering will that affect the leveling of the stand and tank?
Joey, your kicking azz! Love it and keep up the great work boss. It is going to be amazing!
This is a very valuable video
I love that you are going to educate children. What a man!
Thanks you
Hey Joey, I don't see any electrical outlets on that wall have you thought about power for those tanks?
Thanks Joey 💚🙏
💕💕 love from south africa 💕💕
Thanks!
So I was wondering about how you properly build a large stand. It took like 3 days between thinking about that and this video getting recommended. I’m subscribed but that’s still funny.
When I'm trying to figure out how much my tank weights, full. I round the number up to 10lbs. So my 55G has 550 pounds of weight, before decor and everything thing else is included. Joey is the best!
The stand helps to visualize how big the 180’s will be. Going to look great!
King of Diy for a reason 😌
Maybe this has been asked before and I missed it, but what are you going to do with the heating grate on the floor that you're planning on having a tank stand on top of?
Great video. You should build a stand for the miter saw too.
I built a stand on this design a few weeks ago! I have another one planned soon.
I tagged you on Facebook with a project. I used your very first video as inspiration to build an 8ft vivarium stand :)
Love the book! My copy is filled with sticky notes and page marker tabs.
Side note: the one tank is positioned over the floor vent and it's driving me crazy.
Love your watch!
Is there a book you recommend for first time aquarium keepers that show how to properly cycle a tank, how to keep proper perimeters and quarantine fish?
Do you have plans for this stand? Great video.
love your video! can you please share what drill you were using? I just bought an impact driver, but it isn't as remotely effective as yours appeared in the video
I think you have a great design and have the most useful information I can find.
How do things change if I want a stand 48” or 4ft tall?
It’s for a rather small tank about 80 gallon.
Any extra precautions? Tank is 35x60x125 centimeters.
Need the height as is going on back wall partially behind/above tv.
Any response would be greatly appreciated
