How long should we wait for it to dry ?
What type of glass do we need ?
I like this channel a lot; no loud, obnoxious music, no meaningless chatter--just great content. Subscribed!
Thank you!
Its truly becoming a rare occurrence on YT that people aren't obnoxious with loud music especially where u can hardly hear the person speaking. If Regis Aquatics spoke instead of text it would be perfect!
hey! ive been searching and came across this one bc all the other vids were annoyin. gosh this is awesome🤩
Good luck excellent
Agreed!! The music RUINS Everything for me. Noisy and distracting.
Glad ,I'm m not the only one who feels the same^.^
For the people asking about the glass...figure out what size panes you need & go to your local window & glass doors manufacturer
They should be able to custom cut panes for you. I used to work for a window manufacturer.
What type of glass do you suggest? I went to a local glass company and he quoted me $300+ for 1/4in thick- tempered glass for 2 1/2ft x 3ft and 1ft high. I thought it was so overpriced but I guess it’s due to it being tempered? Do fish tanks have to use tempered glass?
@@wbey2692 tempered glass is for the base only mate , for front, back and side it’s just ordinary glass plate . If you go on google aquarium glass thickness calculator which helps you to calculate a volume of an aquarium, glass area, glass thickness
@@ulsterrich4213 thank you so much for this.
@@wbey2692 👍
Very expensive
Aquarium Dimensions: 24"x12"x7"
Volume: 9 Gallons
Glass Pane Dimensions: Two 24" x 7"
Two- 12"x 6-13/16"
One- 24"x12"
Glass Thickness: 3/16"
The height is 7 inches right? I think the other two glasses should be measured 12" x 7" minus the thickness of the glass on height..
How much did this cost to make?
What thickness of glass would you recommend for a 38” long
@@dianaelise6555 According to the video description, $30.
@@LightStar92 there's several tables availavke online. Just google'aquarium glass thickness calculator's👍
its feels great when you can build these things yourself. Really informative and interesting
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate that there's no music going on! Good vid.
Ahhh! I didn’t think about using tape! I’m so glad I decided to watch this! My aquariums are going to look so much better!! Thanks so much!!
PERFECT !!! PROFESSIONAL MANUFACTURE !!!
Like it a-lot and how you make it so easy to understand - Perfect
thank you this is really helpful no bs talking 🙏
OMG... I've been going crazy trying to find the perfect low profile tank for fancy goldfish. Then I started thinking about making a tank the size I want. This is a great video & very informative video. Thanks for sharing.
Great job , requires skill and patience... 👍👍👍
Definitely makes it look easier than it is!
100% good idea for beginners
Amazing video, we can cover the edges by pvc moulding, they come with different color and textures like wooden or marble.
Awesome great work I learned a lot from this video! Thank you so much
Just what I needed, thanks
wow so satisfying
For those asking
3/8”-1/4” glass can be used
Compensate your glass sizes for where they meet and also 1/8” caulk joints for a sturdy build.
Also, never run your your scraper back and forth. Always run it at one direction to remove dried silicone.
What happens if the glass is too thin?
Amazing work
I have enjoyed this video a great deal. Thank you for sharing.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
very perfect job
Nice, i can diy now to make my own aqurium👍
Thanks dude.
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to build my own Aquarium now. It’s so simple. All it takes is patience and focused effort

Made easy to make one 👍
such aesthetic hands 🤲🏻
Thank you so much for this video! I've watched a few that have simply left me with a confused expression on my face.
I am certain that you have saved me from making some crazy mistakes & buying equipment that I don't really need 🙏🐠🐡
That was gtreat. Thank you.
Nice Lowes bucket 😄, I have the same one
Ha thanks!
Very nice👍👍👍
How do you know that the glass and or silicone will be strong enough to hold the water?
Thanks you for good idea make aquarium
Wow very nice
Wow thats amazing 👏
very nice aquarim
Everything but the measurement of the glass. Thank you I enjoyed the build
Thanks! I will add it!

@@RegisAquatics Thank you so much
Would it be easier to assemble if you changed the order of installing walls 3 and 4?
Great video thanks for sharing!
Thank you
Did you place just the side glass on top of the base ?! Some people put all the sides on top of the base, what's the difference?! Which is better ?!
What kind of tape did you use ?? Very helpful video . Thanks
So many possibilities..
Thanks
As much as I like the clean look I think I'd find some extruded aluminum channel or something to make a top rim. I'd sleep better!
Me too. If I ever build a tank I will be using some angle iron and my Dremel for this. I have friends that can weld it. Lead free solder is probably okay too.
Enjoyed this a lot. What if I want to build one with a rim and hood?
in my country i dont know why but some tanks or custom build there will be some rim support and that piece of glass was big tho on top of the aquarium. So i took it out and hope the tank can handle the water pressure
When he filled in the last piece of foam I felt good
Id have a level with me lol, make sure. Really big ones need to be spot on for all the weight!
Super bro i also made like this
loved it! i hope to make my own fish tank one day 🤍
Wish i could find a friend to do this with^ ^ i love art enough and crafts.
Right now i need to soon looking into making a terraium enclosure for my blue tongue skink and it seems more inventive, fun and less expensive if I can conjure up a future project into making a 50 gallon enclosure vs. Buying one for as much or more then my skink cost >
And? Did you make it?
Where could you get thicker glass if you were wanting to build a bigger aquarium?
That is blue painters tape. You can cheap out and use masking tape, but you'll end up having to clean the residue up.
Painters tape is easier to work with.
You can also use ASI black silicone sealant. It is specific for aquariums.
Where do you get the glass and what thickness?
One question please, what tech spec must has the acrilic ang glue or silicon I must buy to make a 60 liters fish tank? I am sorry due my basic English. Thanks a lot and may God bless you!
I’m interested in doing this, creating this recreating similar for a starter fish tank. Any tips appreciated, I live in Minnesota where it’s cold, the house is always warm. I would keep it elevated and have no clue what brands of filters are best, what sites to go to… help me.
Great video! Was wondering if you could help with glass dimensions. I'm planning to make a 15gallon tank with 6mm thickness (24x12x12 inches). I would appreciate it if you can help me with the glass dimensions needed for this. I'm confused if I need to account for the space the silicone will take up
You don’t need to account for silicone, the glass should be pressed firmly together
I have an old fire place I can't use as the chimney has been condemned and I asked the kids for ideas on what to do with the space and they said put an aquarium in it (cool idea I thought) the way the chimney and fire place was built, the back length is shorter then the front by 230mm. Would the process to make the aquarium to fit be the same or will I have to do anything different?
Is it possible to make a Vertical Aquarium using your method? As you know, the pressure of water on the walls seems a bit different in standing aquariums I wonder if is it safe and secure?
Adorei este aquário simples de se fazer
Ps:tenham um pouco de cuidado, com ajuda é melhor
I noticed you didn’t check to make sure it was square. Wouldn’t the glass pieces slide with only being secured by tape?
*Front side glasses pasted on side area of bottom glass?*
I want to ask, is it ok to put the side panels above the lower base(the base panel) design with a 80x50x50, 4mm glass and with no braces and no supports and just with only panels??
I made the 700 likes Wooohhhh like your page 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It is easy with glass so thin and small tank sizes. Things get crazy if you handle 10mm glass with 36"LX24"HX18'W or more heavier tanks.
really? you sure?
im considering having a go at this as wide but shallow frag tanks in the uk for some reason all seem to be stupidly expensive i dont know why.
Were do you find the glass for tank builds
Waiting for new update of planted tank .
Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳❤❤❤
Soon! Thank you!
Front large glass is it installed at side of base glass instead of above base glass⁉️ As other 3 glasses are on the top of base glass
Hi!! Just wondering where can you purchase the glasses that is 3/16”?
This was purchased from a local window/mirror shop. A lot of hardware stores sell glass panels also, it just depends on where you are located
Why was the glass for the end placed on top of the bottom and the front and back glass placed in front?
Most tanks I've seen have all the glass directly on the bottom.
Hey question what size dimensions if i want to put together a 55 gallon acrylic or glass tank for my 🐢?....😕😕😕
Will large tanks like 40g and up withstand diy or will the water create too much pressure?
What type of glass used? Tempered? Does it matter?
Does the type of glass matter?
What thickness was this glass? And measurements? I’m wanting somthing just like this☺️
Question please. Since the tank is rimless, is there a limit to the size of the tank you can build without an external rim? I am thinking along the lines of 75-85 gallons. Thank you for a great video.
No but you will need to calculate the thickness of the glass to support the weight.
How big is it? I plan on replacing my 29 gallon for a acrylic for my growing saltwater fish
Man did asmr even before it came
amigo cuales son las mediddas del acuario
Nice one kapatid.. anung recommneded brand mo silicon?
Tska balak ko kasi gumawa ng 12 x 12 x 36 na fish tank (aquarium)... kya naba un ng 1/4 na salamin? Thanks
How do you arrange the panels? Do the sides rest on the bottom one or do the front and back ones rest on it?
I like having the sides rest on the glass and the front overlap. It gives it a cleaner look from the front of the tank IMO
Do you think I could make a sealed-waterproof box using this technique?
the time to take water in? silicone wasn t dry?
What type my silicone sealant do i have to use for this?
@Regis Aquatics, How much glue is left between the glass when it's dry ? Edge to face on 90 degree angle if I measure from the side. I have heavy glass and I'm glueing down to a tile floor, so I'm wondering how much to expect to be left between the TILE and the EDGE OF GLASS. Could it end up being less than a millimeter if it got pressed out by the weight ? Thx for the video.
Cool but where did u get the glass
My tanks bottom glass was 1/4 inch in ,and not as flush as yours to the table?
i noticed the front and back panes sit around the base, while the ends sit on it. could you please comment. thanks.
I think it's probably mostly cosmetic, front exposes more and we would better appreciate the whole pane of glass without the bottom pane expose. I think? But the other way are most likely stronger imo
When measuring the glass up how much did you give for the silicon , cheers
how much you gave
Could I use 2 different pieces (same length) of glass for the bottom? Not using it for water. For hermit crabs.
Should be fine as an enclosure but I would not recommend for holding water
I always wonder if these tanks without a lid don’t have a problem with evaporation or with fish jumping out?
Those are two very real problems haha. Usually you can build a mesh lid, or not get jumpy fish
If you are place a connected glass on top portion of aquarium(from edge to edge), it will great support for load transfer to all sides.
How do you put water and fish then?
Where do I get glass from tho
What product are you using to clean it? My silicone was so sticky i have fish tank full of fingerprints
what glass kneed use if wont do 60cmx60cm square
Whats the best silicon brand to use?
Would it be safe to have all the side panels sitting on top of the base instead of around it?
I'm wondering the same, I don't know.
@@christopherhogue2310 I ended up having the front and rear glass sitting flush with the base & the side panels ON TOP of the base. It’s been ~4 months and I’m happy to report there are no leaks. It was for a small 5 gallon tank.
Wanted to know what tape is used in the video
What kind of glass should you use?
can silicone stand the water pressure?
