Ive seen this video 3x...... still impressed how you put that tank on the stand 3rd time around.
Like a boss !
Years later this video is still helping people out
Respects to you Joey! Love your videos and just to let you know, you're one of the main reasons why I got into the Fish Hobby and I'm loving it! I love your passion for everything you do in this hobby and the in depth details you go through in your videos. I can tell you love doing what you do!

Can you tell which wood is this?
"'Hope you found it interesting." Seriously dude?! No one ever talks about stands when setting up tanks. This video is pure gold!
I was thinking the same thing.
And he made it look like anyone can do it.
( I'll let you know , because i need an aquarium stand for a 75 gallon aquarium
It looks like I'm going to be building it myself 😕, my fish are a little nervous ..😲
Thank you very much! I am following this to make my 240g 8x2x2 tank just a 24 inch deep version. Might not stain it not sure. Wonderful tutorial!!
True to form DIY🙂. YOU BUILD...LIFT...STAIN...U THE MAN👍🏾
The King Of DIY says it all. I really liked the canister filter video. i will be building a version for my 55 gal that i picked up second hand n free ! Keep posting some of us rely on and enjoy these videos! thanks
Good call on the routering, TOTALLY transformed the look from a college kid slapped this together to a finished product.
i missed these type of videos and no the new Joey just to get attention.... this is an excellent pure video.
Just built one of these tonight for a 125! These tank videos are a gem!!
Your corded and later on cordless drill made me wince in pain. Someone get this guy a nice Li-Ion Drill/Driver for fathers day! Another great project Joey, the stand is superb.
I do use a cordless drill for some things. But when i am filming a huge build like this one, with multiple cameras running, etc... the last thing i need to worry about is a battery dying and completely stopping production because it was one extra thing i forgot to charge. I have enough to focus on.
New to this channel so just want to say hello to everyone. Great videos you have here, for a guy who is just getting back into Aquariums this is very helpful.
Happy Father's Day Joey. Loving the builds.
Joey is straight BEAST MODE carrying around his own tank!
Nicely done, great video. I would have added edge banding to the plywood ends. The iron on stuff is durable enough and easy to apply on straight surfaces.
I go through your building videos quiet often. Was think to make a triangular aquarium for a corner where two adjacent wall meet. Kindly make a tutorial giving some ideas about the glass edge and assembling.
great stand. thats the way i built mine for my 24x48 120 gallon. keep constuction simple and cover nice.
the method you used for staining is actually a method dome professionals use, generally with a different product without the polly mixed in.
Man this video is golden!
Good job Joey, you are so inspiring! could you do a video about store bought hob filters like ie aqua clear ,marine land and some diy modifications for them if possible. thanks again for the inspiration in the fish hobby.
turned out great like always! you make these projects look so easy you inspire me to do them myself. happy Father's day btw.
Very nice stand. I want to make this but with a bit more "modern" hidden doors and all white stain. My problem is the wood thats a bit on the expensive side.
Awesome video!
Maybe you can do a video about how to build a corner aquarium stand. I'm needing a 54 gallon stand.
nice video Joey. Happy Father's Day
Hey bro can you share your wood calculations ? The materials ?
measures ?
ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE !!!!!!!!
Pls do a pond project joey
Best way to stain is with rags goes on alot better
Beast mode wow madd work
thank you for video, I made stand for my 110 gallons tank same way. If you ever come to Croatia you have beer and cevapcici from me :)
Great video, well made stand. A tank isn't a live load though. Live loads are moving loads, like a car driving across a bridge.
This was very nice, thank you!
I’ve been using your videos to build my own stand, the first thing I’ve ever built. I taught myself how to use all the tools etc. but I’m struggling with finding the right size screws or brad nails for the panel wrapping. I’ve decided to wrap mine with 1/4” paneling on the side, could I use brad nails for that? I’m going to use the 3/4” plywood you recommend for the top, could I also use brad nails or do I need to screw it and if so what size and type? It’s holding a 55 gallon. I also used stud 2x4s, not sure if that’s too dense or not compared to whatever regular 2x4s are?
Thanks, I built a 180 gal tank stand following this and ran a 5 ft level along the perimeter and it was flat all the way around. I was wondering because you are using acrylic you are not as concerned abut the flatness of the top. How accurate should the top be on a glass tank at 180 gals. Thanks. Is a glass tank a little flexible?
How tall is this stand? Is there a height limit with stands before they are something to worry about?
What kind of clamps are those at 4:07? They look really useful for a tank build!
Anybody? What kind of clamps are those?
90 degree corner clamp?
Menards sku 3415405 about 25$ for something close at least
@@ryanschafer9034 much appreciated mate!
Strong around the outside but weak across the top. All that weight held by screws.
Would I be able to follow this same plan with no center beams for a 90 gallon rimless glass aquarium? And instead of using wood beam that is used to get the height in the front and back panels can I put them on the sides?
Are you on a slab or foundation? I hope a slab, I'm curious to know if floor joist can hold that much weight.
Really need to know the brand of those corner clamps
Did you ever find out?
Did you encounter any issues with wood expansion? I've built a workbench with a similar design and the horizontal pieces have shrunk to the point where there is a gap between the vertical support piece and the horizontal piece that rests on top.
Nice job...and thanks, I'm about to build mines
Curious how much the stand weighs?
Hello King :)
I am going to build for 300 gallon tank, but i would like to know the name of the tool you are using to align the boards?
Thank in advance, Kasper
happy Father's day Joey
Hey!
I'm really impressed of your work and so I want to built the stand for my 158 gallon aquarium the same way you did. Now my question is, what dimensions does the wooden beams, of the stand in this video, have? Or which wooden beams do you recommend in my case?
Thanks a lot!! :)
Hey I have a 6 foot tank that's 4 feet wide and 28 tall. Would the process be the same for my tank when it comes to the build. Meaning size of wood and will I only need a center support or will I need 2 in the middle
Hello community. I know I’m late on reply. But if I wanted to had wheels on the bottom that can carry 50 kilos each (or 110 pounds). How many do you think I’d need. And how spaced apart? Thing is I wanna be able to move it around the room if I want to change the dining setup. TX for whoever can answer my question.
Ah man now I'm curious if I can build a stand with 1x2 or 1x4 that's 2.5 feet tall, 2 feet wide for a 36 gallon bowfront. Should I even attempt that build?!
Just not sure if 2x4 would give me clearance for a 15 gallon sump I made.
Question, to everyone/anyone watching this. At that length what do you do with the crown on the boards? Building my own stand with this plan and I'm running into this issue
Thank you very informative. I built a very similar stand using 2x6 's. What are you using if I can ask to support the floor below the aquarium?
he's in the basement
hi.. just wanna ask..is it good enough if i use pine wood for 5@ 6 ft aquariu.?
Can I use 4x2 for 6x2x2 tank
What is the brand or name of that clamp
should use pocket screws not drilling into the end grain, this will give you a strong frame
I’m looking to build a 55 gal stand what would you recommend for that ? Tia
what size wood would I need for a 500 gallon tank? 2x8?
builds stand to hold a school bus only to have the floor cave in....lolz
Hi I'm Building A Stand For 180g 6'L x2'h x 2'H and I was looking to use this method but my tank has corner overflows how do I build it with out covering the over flow holes and losing integrity of the stand?
whoaaa what is that tool in the beginning called? Its like a right angles corner vice???
does anyone know?
How do u know the strength of the timber the amount of supports needed?
I have a 160 and 125. Is there a way to make the stand that would hold them. One on top of the other.
How thick is the acrylic? how did you pick that?
Hi Joey would you think that useing 2x3 with this design be ok for a 59"×20" tank
Why don't you glue it? For my stands I use unfinished oak base kitchen cabinets.
great :D tnx for sharing
I need your help!
Were do you take your acrylic sheet joey
Awesome
what wood is that you use?
What about screw holes??
Joey, wich wood is best for the plywood aquarium?
I like birch
can i use something other than birch? why do you use birch? 3/4'' shop grade birch is $50 CAD where i live and i need to keep my costs low :/
Dude what kind of clamps are they in the beginning
Cool
How much did it cost you?
What wood did he use for the stand??
Birchwood
What type of clamps are you using?
Did you ever find out?
@CichlidCharmer I used corner clamps from harbor freight. They worked perfect.
Is the plywood pine?
Ivan Eduardo Veloz Guerrero he said birch plywood like 347 times 😉
Haha, that's what happens when you feel sleepy.

what is the thickness of the acrylic
i believe he's said it was 3/4.
Great video - thanks!
Btw - never wear gloves at the table saw. Even a small thread can be caught up, and pull your hand into the blade. It's a big no no. I say this out of concern.
Keep up the great work!
I’d worry about the bloody FLOOR SUPPORTING ALL THAT WEIGHT TOO!!
LOL the ground ain't going nowhere!!!
@@slickchick5811 If it's a home with a crawlspace you should worry about the joists being loaded supporting 1000s of pounds.
Just in time for me. I think my 75 gal stand that came with it is giving up. I don't trust the stand no more. I like solid wood. Like this one. I'm making one like this. Thank you for sharing.
PS: You can also find me on instagram

don't know if you will get this but thanks for the video I made my 75 gallon stand the same way now I'm doing the canopy. I'm so proud of myself thanks for the help.
+3drhodes glad to help. Congrats on the build!
What’s the thing you using to hold the boards leveled why you drill the screws in ??
Thank you for the video. I plan on building a stand for my 180gal glass aquarium (6.5ft).
Is there a website to design our stands and get a list of how much wood we need and the exact dimensions?
Good evening Joey, what type of lumber do you recommend to build an stand for a 8’x4’x2’ and 700 lbs empty. Thank you for you help. God bless you.
Thanks for the Inspiration Joey! Ordered all of my timber ready to get the stand built in the next week or so, then I can order the biggest tank I’ve ever had! Finally back into the hobby and I couldn’t be more excited.
I used his method. Went a little overboard on support but well worth it. The stand holds 4 tanks, a discus tank, an angel tank, an misc tank, and a goldfish tank. It worked out sooo well!
I like the way you mrs is worried at 5:20 when you lift the stand. You probably should of had some help there m8.
Yeah, that looked a bit painful to solo.
5:30 Joey in Beast-Mode. :)
This video really gives a great perspective on how big this tank is! Another great vid!
It really does huh? I thought putting a camera up a bit higher would show how big these tanks really are!
If you ever move out and you don't take anything with you. I'll be standing out front come garbage day for the new owners of the house.
Thank you for teaching common sense. I always over engineer my builds & have a 200gal setup on a 3200+lb capable stand....haha. Moving forward I will save a lot in materials! Thanks again
Like me , I have 30gal aquarium with 10mm glass and 1200+lb capable stand :D
He said go 4x over the weight tho
How's the stand doing 4 years later?
Idk if anyone can answer this but if i did one with 2x10s and made one of the horizontal boards at the bottom a 2x4 would it compromise the structure in any way. I'm doing a build for a 550 gallon and would like to be able to get a 75 gallon sump into the bottom. I don't want this to sit higher than 40 inches from the floor so i can still have space to access the top.
Can you go into a little more detail about how to determine the holding capacity of a stand? Or is there a resource online you could recommend? I have a 46 gallon tank that I will eventually need to build a stand for, and my woodworking experience is all in construction, and I err on the side of over engineering but I've never calculated the capacity down as detailed as you did.
I have a 125 gallon saltwater tank. Square and rimless and like everything else it came with the standard wood stand.
I need to replace the inside bottom of the tank (where the sump sits). The bottom is warped and want to remove and replace.
My 1st step would be to add a cross brace along the back of the stand, then remove bottom with plywood base that would be waterproofed. The bottom would have to be in 2 pcs due to size
Any recommendations ??? Last thing I want to do is replace the stand simply because of the contents, weight and finding help just to move
HELP. !!!!
