+Jonathan Wazenegger I did try to stick my socket wrench down there and it is a hard to squeeze it down there. I do agree with you can do it that way. However, for visual purposes and only 3 extra screws its fairly simple.
Thanks for this and your other video showing the front install. I just finished installing some Kicker DSC654 6.5" speakers in the front and ran into a small issue. I was using the Scosche SAHC634 brackets and the speaker itself was a little too large and made it to where I could barely get the 10mm bolt back in. I didnt want to have to drill at all. Thankfully I was able to get it to work by using a much smaller screw, 2 washers and a nut instead of using the stock 10mm bolt. Sounds much better now. Next is the rears, then installing my MTX 10's in the back.
Ive been trying to figure out the best way to get sound deadening back there. Was considering just doing trunk side. Ill be doing under the back plastic panel now too. Thanks dude!
I didn't take the back of the back seat out. I had some trouble getting the pillar covers back on. I think I am going to take them off again and re attach them, they don't seem completely flush in front. helpful seeing how you did this to get my new rear speakers installed, thanks!
I got the pillar covers back on on 2nd try. There is a black plastic thing attached to a white strip of plastic (looks like one end of a zip tie). These weren't re attached at first, which is why they were not flush. I got them back in place, and now everything looks fine. I checked how secure the back speakers are from underneath, pretty solid, I'll see if they hold, if they start to rattle I'll have to secure them better
I have the 8th gen coupe and its easier as you fold down the back seat and lift up the plastic cover and slide it out. My video will be out soon and I used the old speaker and used it to put the new speakers and even reused the original harness. No need to buy all the extra stuff just a little creativity hack. Video coming out July 1st.
thanks for the videos and I have a Honda civic 2015 and I would like to install the same speakers but I couldn't find the speaker harness connectors for my Honda. what do you recommend?
Hey Felix, I would purchase these ones from Amazon. They are at a good price and come as a pair. If you are replacing all four speakers make sure you purchase two. amzn.to/2gxekQZ
Yes I will replace all 4 but when I try to buy it and amazon it said : This does not fit on your honda 2015. By the way I really appreciate your time to help me _lh3.googleusercontent.com/N2VgQnT9cUW4lww08vR5NKwzF30_qj3SzT6xMlh6EL8xjVLdPCzi_rIH6pprEGNAFz4V4KAg1Sw_
There is something wrong with that part of the website. I even tried out my vehicle and it says my car doesn't fit. I went through the website in a different way to see if it would work and found that connector. Take a look at other sources online. I have only seen the connector change since 2011.
Hey CluEngineer I have a question, I ordered the same speakers from crutchfield and they sent me brackets for my car but they’re like too small to the point where the screw that goes into the car is unreachable. I wanted to know if you remember the model number for those brackets you used for this video.
I noticed a difference in sound quality when I switched my speakers to the Kickers. I went to Crutchfield.com to order all of my speakers. It came with the connector for my car and the black adapter to mount the speakers for free. (P.S. I am not sponsored by Crutchfield)
Hello, i would like to know which speaker is it? and where can i find the adapter or it used the original? and other question, the sound its better that oem? or you used an ampliefier?
The speakers are Kicker 43DSC504 and the connector came with the speakers when I purchased them from crutch field. I am not using an amp and they do sound better than the stock speakers. I hope this helps.
Hi, i saw this video a few days ago and i'm trying to put new speakers (pioneer) on my Civic 06 but i have a problem: i saw two pair of cables: left side, brown and gray/ right side, brown and blue. I'd like to know positive and negative from them. Thank you master.
Take a look at this website. I just searched "honda civic speaker wire colors" and this was the first thing that came up. Look at the your year and you will find exactly what you need. my.prostreetonline.com/2015/04/08/how-to-honda-civic-stereo-wiring-diagram/
The main REASON manufacturers make interiors with less & less access to screws, is so the do it yourselfers will be less likely to risk marking up, bending, or snapping things which forces them to seek out a professional to do it. Looks is definitely secondary. Those speakers could just as easily have been mounted from the bottom up, using bolts accessed from the trunk. It certainly wasn't to gain 2 inches of space.
Nice work Lil guy but that huge gap you have around the speakers killed any midbass you might have had. Plus a little overkill on the disassembly, but could prove useful for another purpose, so I say bravo
Hey, I was just curious if the Metra 72-7800 Speaker Connector was what you used to fit in your honda civic. I have an EX, don't know if that makes any difference. Thanks!
I am not sure what that connector is. Check by searching google or order the connector online. You can check to see if the connector works by opening up your trunk and testing it out before you need to take out the back seat.
What year is your Civic? I dont see that info anywhere. Amazon Says these dont fit my 2014, so of course I need to verify. Also do you have a speaker baffle/mount adapter recommendation for the front door speakers??
My car is a 2013 Honda Civic LX. Amazon says they do NOT fit mine either. A 2013 and 2015 Honda Civic are very similar cars. I do not have a baffle mount recommendation. I didn't use one for my car and it seems to work well!
That’s a coupe...different than sedan... on sedan the cover can be popped off...the coupe ...fold back seat down & remove the whole back plate . All do you can get direct OEM Honda plug n play replacement speakers ( I think made by Pioneer) no adapter needed..
I installed the rear speakers with just the one screw (that was holding the original speakers in. They seemed secure, now I am wondering if I should take apart again and put a couple more screws to attach the speaker to the bracket, but I really don't want to do that, this was a big pain to do
Try going from the bottom of the speakers and see if you can add a few screws. What really bothers me is when speakers start to rattle so keep your fingers crossed that screw wont losen.
I am going to go through this again to secure the speakers better. Crutchfield told me how to secure the Polk DB652 to the Honda Civic adaptor bracket, so I'll just bite the bullet and do this again. I put in my front door speakers today, relatively easy compared to the back. At least I've already done the back once, so am more familiar with the job. Will be nice to know the speakers are nice and secure! Am going to add an aftermarket amp on Tuesday (Clarion XC1410) to really power my 4 Polk Audio DB 652's!
I'm having it installed at a car audio shop so I will tell you how it works when they are finished. I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle the amp install. I called a place in Denver that has really good reviews, and talked to them, their price seemed reasonable, so I'm going to let them do it. I did put an alpine head unit in my last car, which was pretty easy. Now with the Civic I don't want to replace the stock head unit, and lose the back up camera, and possibly other features. I wish they didn't tie so many things together with the radio these days! Anyway, looking forward to the added power going to my new speakers!
These are the speakers I used: Kicker 43DSC504. They are 5 1/4in speakers. When I installed them I felt like I could have installed a bigger speaker but I didn't take the chance.
How do those kickers sound? I made the mistake and installed those new polk audio speakers. Trash! Zero bass. Real weak. Clean but No power or low end..
Ant Henrystyle Henry I have installed the same speakers “kikers” but I have no power on them, sound like the old factory ones, I want to add an app on them but I don’t know which amp to ado (not too expensive)
I got the connectors and brackets as a kit from Crutchfield. I am not sure if the sell them on their own. But the ones on amazon are the same. Just make sure the work for your year.
not for nothing, but the plastic grille over the speakers comes off lol.. there is absolutely no need to remove the rear seats and disassemble half the car.. x_x
Don't waste your time in doing all these steps bro !! just opened my honda civic 2007 speaker rear lid manually with a screw driver without this long process.
You don't have to remove the back seat at all. Just push the cushion to the side and unbolt the side pillars.
+Jonathan Wazenegger I did try to stick my socket wrench down there and it is a hard to squeeze it down there. I do agree with you can do it that way. However, for visual purposes and only 3 extra screws its fairly simple.

Good choice. Are you going to change your head unit?
Great video. Well done my man. Thank you. No one else I saw was doing the coupe. My niece appreciates it for sure.....
No problem 👍
with that kind of gap using smaller speakers than the original everything from 250hz on down will suck..........
Ive been trying to figure out the best way to get sound deadening back there. Was considering just doing trunk side. Ill be doing under the back plastic panel now too. Thanks dude!
You are welcome. Good luck
This guy makes it look easy
Just FYI, your mileage may vary when replacing the rear stock speakers in a Honda because the stock head unit way underpowers the rear speakers.
The brackets. Are they new or did you use the original ones from the factory speakers?
I didn't take the back of the back seat out. I had some trouble getting the pillar covers back on. I think I am going to take them off again and re attach them, they don't seem completely flush in front. helpful seeing how you did this to get my new rear speakers installed, thanks!
You are welcome, I am glad you enjoyed the videos. I would recommend being very careful taking the pillar covers off so you do not break the clips.
I got the pillar covers back on on 2nd try. There is a black plastic thing attached to a white strip of plastic (looks like one end of a zip tie). OK no problem and again thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.
Your welcome! I hope your new radio set up works out for you.

i can't get my a pillar back on because of that sliding clip (where a real clip should be). any advice before i cry?
Dont forget disconet the baterry for the rear air bag please
are your back speakers just as loud as the front? also where did you get the power connector?
I noticed a difference in sound quality when I switched my speakers to the Kickers. I went to Crutchfield.com to order all of my speakers. It came with the connector for my car and the black adapter to mount the speakers for free. (P.S. I am not sponsored by Crutchfield)

CluEngineer have you ever tried trading out the 6.5 and putting in 6x9 with speaker adapters for a wider sound?
Hi, i saw this video a few days ago and i'm trying to put new speakers (pioneer) on my Civic 06 but i have a problem: i saw two pair of cables: left side, brown and gray/ right side, brown and blue. I'd like to know positive and negative from them. Thank you master.

+Cluengineer thanks a lot.
PLEASE CLARIFY the specs of the Civic and Year.. makes a BIG difference if this video applies to someone or not
Zack Case it's in the description. 2013 Civic LX
does your car have the rear side curtain airbags?
Thank you

True. I did not know what I should put behind it since it was wide open

Why u putting 5 1/4 in a 6.5 space?they use 6.5 or 6 3/4
You don't got to take nothing out just pull the speaker caps off they pulled off so easy the speaker vents you can pull them off in 1 minute
I wish, but it's not the case on the 2013's
Can the speaker cover simply be taken out to access the speaker bolt?
Pi Noy I wish but not with this model

Back speakers are 6.5 inches ? I have honda civic touring
These are the speakers I used: Kicker 43DSC504. They are 5 1/4in speakers. When I installed them I felt like I could have installed a bigger speaker but I didn't take the chance.
how did you wire the Speaker clip onto the new speaker?
The speakers already came with the adapter for the speakers and OEM clip.
i went to crutchfield and found one.. thanks for the video
You are welcome. I am glad I could help.
How do those kickers sound? I made the mistake and installed those new polk audio speakers. Trash! Zero bass. Real weak. Clean but No power or low end..
Ant Henrystyle Henry these kickers are good. But it's a similar experience you are describing. I would recommend an amp.
CluEngineer yea. Speakers are worse than the stock if you ask me...
Ant Henrystyle Henry kickers were an improvement
Ant Henrystyle Henry I have installed the same speakers “kikers” but I have no power on them, sound like the old factory ones, I want to add an app on them but I don’t know which amp to ado (not too expensive)
Hi dear. I have honda jazz 2005. Do u know what is the size of the speakers.some sites says 13cm some says 16cm.im confused now.
order from crutchfield - they'll give you everything you need free when ordering speakers
Thank you men I appreciate your help
You are welcome!!
What mm bolt is the bolt
10
Damn I dont see why you dismantled the whole back seat jesus christ
You had to. I wish there was another way
Great video! Thanks boss... 👍
What if the rear kickers sound soft
Probably needs more power. New head unit or an amp
What size are those speakers
5.25 inches. Here are the speakers for more info: amzn.to/2gfS8rP
CluEngineer could be more bigger?
where did you get brackets?
Crutchfield. You can probably find it somewhere else too!
is that were you got the stock connectors as well?
You can find the connectors and bracket over the internet. Here is the connectors: amzn.to/2gxekQZ
I got the connectors and brackets as a kit from Crutchfield. I am not sure if the sell them on their own. But the ones on amazon are the same. Just make sure the work for your year.
CluEngineer Thanks man
Troye Sivan is that you 😍😍
Miranda S lol. You are funny!
Wow you don’t have to remove the pillars or the seat just push up on the low lip right behind the seats… wpw
Looks like 5 1/4 “ and not 6.5. Big gap
i just popped the speaker cover off without needing to dismantle my whole car
.... damn, you didn't have to do all that, but good vid
good...
Thanks
hey how about you come over my house and do it on my Civic Hybrid and I'll let you have that video and free cameraman services!
dosmastrify deal... haha
Why not just pop the speaker covers off the back deck and remove the speakers?
This year does not have that luxury unfortunately.
Well there's a rare Honda design flaw.
You might not believe it, but my manual transmission went out at 20,000 miles. There's another design flaw.
Cluengineer no way dude what
Cluengineer at least it did it before warranty expired! Right?
not for nothing, but the plastic grille over the speakers comes off lol.. there is absolutely no need to remove the rear seats and disassemble half the car.. x_x
Tony S Can't do that on this car or else I would have love to do that instead.
I just noticed you own a 2013... I didnt know they changed it.. that sucks!
Tony S Totally, it's a pain. But worth it.
Video 👍👍
wonder if i can dremel that shit out? maybe?
ModestConfidence yes you can gotta drill a new hole dod it for door speakers
Don't waste your time in doing all these steps bro !! just opened my honda civic 2007 speaker rear lid manually with a screw driver without this long process.
varun mehra that's a different model
Just pop off the cover
Ruben Velazquez there isn’t one or else I would have don’t that
