    It’s worth rotating the drive units in the adapters before cutting any metal. My Focals wouldn’t fit, as the terminals were snagging in the opening, but they fit just fine upside down with the terminals at the top.

    John your like the Mr Rogers of upgrades. just chill AF lol
    im confused though. I'm upgrading my speakers with a set of components. They come with a passive crossover. I know the passive crossover has the tweeter connected to it, the midrange connected to it and finally the input from the head unit im assuming? what color wires are those or how do I find them. I not seeing that in your video or im just a dumb dumb.

      The wire I passed through comes from the Amplifier to the passive crossover. The passive crossover has its connections to the mids and highs.

    Hello, really nice job except the trimming of the metal parts of the door itself, from my opinion. Shouldn't you apply some metal treatment or at least paint so no rust risk?
    If you can tell us please, after you finished everything, did you encounter any rattles/squeeks in the doors, that were not present before.
    Thank you for your video, nice work 👌

    You should use stinger speed wire for a aftermarket amplifier installation. The factory stereo wires will definitely hold the current when used with the metra speaker adapters. It keeps everything clean. Also those baffles are junk. Stinger fast rings work way better. Useless time of the wiring.

    • @johnsneverendinglistofrand1377
      @johnsneverendinglistofrand1377  3 года назад +1

      Used SHCA OFC 9 core wire. Looks identical to the stinger speed wires you mentioned. That's routed from the head unit to an LC7i. RCA from LC7i to amps. Speaker wires from amp to door specific speaker crossover. Made sure I didn't have spliced wires all over the car.
      The baffle seems to be doing a great job. I'm no expert but it's keeping the weather out.
      Might look into the stinger rings, but everything sounds loud and clear as is.

  • @Cultofpersonality09129
    @Cultofpersonality09129 2 года назад +3

    It doesn’t matter what it looks like brother, you used the deadening. Doing the entire inside of the door would be better. Close off the whole with the white plastic, you can cover it with deadened, or cut a piece of thin aluminum rivet it in place, the deaden over that. It was drastically improve your mid bass response. Be careful with the crossover, it’s susceptible to moisture in the door card area……. To secure it get some Velcro. There’s a lot more that can be done as well, but I’ll be typing all day……

    • @johnsneverendinglistofrand1377
      @johnsneverendinglistofrand1377  2 года назад

      The main purpose of the baffle is to deaden the sound behind the speaker so the acoustics in the doors don't ruin the acoustic in the car.

    • @Grizzleback07
      @Grizzleback07 Год назад

      They deaden the sound and ruin the midrange. If you use them, cut open the back and use them as a water deflector so any rain water coming through the window trim doesn't fall onto the back of the cone.

    hi finally got to watch the video that really matters, good work, please can you tell me the exact mounting depth of your speakers because i have steg st650c for my install and when i run the window glass down, the glass hits the speaker magnet and i might end up breaking the glass so my project is on a halt!

    • @johnsneverendinglistofrand1377

      According to the specs by CT Sounds my Mounting depth == 2.87" / 73mm.
      Then subtract my speaker mounting depth by maybe 1/2" due to my speaker brackets.

      I actually went the other way and put a good amp on the factory speakers first, then re-equalized the system with a JL Audio TwK-88. It was a major improvement. However, the stock speakers still have their limitations. I have begun replacing them. I have started with the CENTER channel, and put an Infinity Kappa Perfect 300m 3.5" in there and wow, what a difference. The front components are going to be JL Audio C5 6.5" with separate silk dome tweeters.
