This is literally the best door disassembly as well as best speaker installation video on RUclips. For any car. Such a professional clean job. And funny.
4 and a half years late to the show, but, thanks for this video. I just replaced the rear speakers in my old beater using this video and the product links you proivded. Good work!
The internet never ceases to amaze there is literally a video for everything, you can learn about anything in seconds when before you had to know someone who might know someone.
Many thanks for this how-to video; after blowing my 2006 Civic’s driver’s side speakers, I swapped out the dead speakers for a 2nd. hand set that cost $50 for 4. My local car audio shop quoted me $668 for 2 new ones plus installation! Now I have 4 speaker surround for LOUD FUCKING MUSIC WHILE DRIVING!!!
That is awesome !!!!! Love it !!! Thanks so much for the comment, and sorry for the late reply. I'm on vacation so I'm just checking messages sporadically. Excellent that you were able to save some cash !! Thanks :)
You made this look so easy! Whenever I've done speakers on my cars there's always something that gets in the way or doesn't go how I planned hahaha. Great video brotha
Thank you, and much appreciated. The speakers were a good upgrade as a few of the factory ones actually burnt out, so it was a necessary job. Thanks bro !!!
Thank you for this video! It allowed me to replace my own broken speaker and save a lot of money on repairs. Plus it made me feel empowered to do my own work on my car!
Came here from a Door Checker replacement video where they tore away the vapor barrier to gain access, comment section recommended access via the speaker hole. Your disassembly video was better and the speaker access was a far easier job 😂 My door no longer swings freely 😀
Thanks for the comment, You really have to push those mounts in to make them fit, they can be tight!!! I'm glad you got it all buttoned up :) Definitely an upgrade from the factory!!
just did this installation thank you for the video it was easy to do. I noticed you didn't put the caps on the speakers, I thought about doing it but I decided not to just extra stuff that could rattle later
Awesome!! Thank you so much for the links. I've been searching for speaker adapters on Amazon but I had never come across these particular units. They seem legit!
I am running your playlist 49 video adds and all no skipping none stop to show support the channel, I will not be at the pc, but I will check in and out sometime to leave comment if I can.. have a great day Until next time! Thanks for great content you provide on this channel to help DIY 🌹🌹👍👍
First time installing car speakers, and through numerous videos I was able to figure out how to get to the front door speaker. But was met with a hurdle. No one talks about the speaker bracket or wiring adapter. I didn't even know what that part was to order, that is until I found your video. Though my car is a 95 you provided the information, and links to finish the install. I didn't know that the rear needed brackets, the other speakers (not factory) didn't have any so I just installed it the same way. It will be nice to get the rears to fit better, and then do the front speakers. If it is a success you helped me save $100 for installation. I ordered the JVC speakers through your link, and if they work out well then I can return the Kickers that were double the price. Thank you so much for this video!
Well done, very nice. I dont' have a Civic, I have a 2011 Fit, but your instructions for the most part are the same (at least for doors since the Fit doesn't have the rear deck).
Awesome video, Thank you so much. Ill save the video for when i upgrade my speakers. For now i'm having issues with an after market stereo i bought. I believe I have a short, grounded or whatever you call it (power issue) that messed up my OEM stereo and is now giving me problems with my aftermarket touchscreen stereo.
This is a PERFECT video, I will use for swapping mine out. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to retain the OEM “premium” dash unit, kind of an important decision before choosing door speakers. I guess I’d like to hear just how much better a simple swap of speakers sounds with the stock radio, 30% better? Or is it like night and day. With a head unit replacement, it’s night and day. Might be worth the trouble (for me). Can’t decide though, so SO much easier to just swap these out with speakers that are known to do well with the factory unit in terms of power output/frequency range etc. Thoughts?
Hey Brother, thanks for the comment. I do appreciate it, and try my best!!! Regarding the speakers there was quite a noticeable difference. Especially in the clarity. I did think of what you're thinking, and was torn. I had even though of a sub and separate amp....... I thought to myself I would do the speakers first and if I was not happy, then I would do the head unit, and then the sub last if needed. That's why its important to get decent speakers to replace the factory ones. IF you get the cheapest ones you can find, then changing the head unit isn't going to do a whole lot anyway. For me the sound difference was quite a bit. I would say they sounded about 80% better than the factory speakers, and most noticeably they were A LOT clearer with cleaner high frequencies. I was surprised as how well the factory head unit worked, so after I swapped the speakers I was happy with the sound quality and stayed with that. Now everyone is different so you may not be happy, but I would maybe consider doing a step at a time to see if just the speakers meet your needs. A sub would be another level, as its something the door and rear speakers can't compete with, but after I changed out the speakers, I just found I wasn't really longing for a sub anymore. Hope I answered your question and if you need anything else by all means let me know. Thanks and Happy Sunday :)
Thanks soo much brother!!! I do appreciate the comment, and love getting comments like this, they keep me going!!!!!! Thanks again and have a great day :)
Thank you soo much!! I do appreciate you using the link as it helps the channel. I put everything and more back into the channel so thank you for that !!!
Agreed best video on this model of civic others undid all the door cables and other horrendous exercises that didn't even need doing lol great thankyou! 😊
Thanks soo much!!!! I wish I had a bigger fan base, but that's ok. I think the reason I get quite a few visitors is I rank in search, so when you are searching for different repairs I come up, so that's great :)
Thanks for the great comment and glad I could help out, that’s what it’s all about :) Saw your avatar of the Toronto Maple Leafs, let’s hope they do great this year. I’m from Canada so a big Leafs fan :)
Yes I do!!! Still running great. I did a few other maintenance vids on it, it had an oil leak and needed an AC recharge plus I put a navigation system in it. The mileage keeps piling up, but there is still love for the 8th gen civic !!!
You save me hundreds of dollars. My wife's car speakers was blown, she wanted to take the car to the audio shop because I don't have time to install the speakers that I bought her. I work a full time job and a part time job, so hardly any days off. I showed her this video, and she installed the speakers herself following your video's steps. Takes her 3 hours but she got it. I was enjoying my time off today, while drinking a beer, and watching her. Lol. Thank you!
Muchas gracias por el video era justo lo que necesitaba, mira otro video y para instalar las bocinas de atras quito los sillones y todo, tu video es muy bueno y entendible
I did hahaha, I’m glad you enjoyed them. I put pictures and videos as effects in all my vids. Kind of my signature and glad you appreciated them. They are a lot of work. Thanks brother!!!!
What size self tapping screws did you use for the rear left and R speakers? You used 1 longer factory bolt plus 2 self tapping screws in each speaker ring installation. Thanks for the excellent video.
Hey Thanks for the comment :) for the screws I remember using General Motors trim screws that go into plastic. They self tap into plastic, but they are really just black painted wood screws. They look like this amzn.to/3dkcMsq but don't buy as thats like a pack of 100. I think the ones I used were equivalent to #8 wood screws. Its probably best if you order the brackets and then just take one of the brackets to home depot and find a wood screw that is snug and will self tap in the bracket. The instructions say you don't need them, but I figured the speaker was really going to rattle without them, and I have no rattles in the car with the speakers turned up. You may even have a screw at home. The screw just has to be snug enough to stop the speaker from rattling. Hope I helped you out, and thanks for watching so closely !!!
Hey thanks for the comment !! I’ll definitely see if I can do that. In the meantime I do have some paint protection film videos up (which is similar) I used Xpel.
Hey man!! So I have a Honda civic 2009 and I’m a huge music guy and I like it loud and bass worthy, do u have any recommendations for speakers to put in?
These ones are play fairly loud, and they are on sale for like 30 bucks a pair amzn.to/3WAXsw6 They work well with the factory stereo. Now If you are using the factory head unit without an amp, and you want the loudest speaker, look at the sensitivity rating. The ones in the link are 92db. That means the speaker will produce a SPL or sound pressure level of 92 decibels with 1 watt at 1 meter. This is how they are normally measured. If you can find speakers with a sensitivity rating of higher than 92db they will play louder.
i just installed these and secured them as tight as i can but i’m hearing rattling since there’s no foam between the harness and the metal of the car, is there anything i can do to fix this? love the video, it’s a lot of help!
Hey there, yup its fixable, what you can do is use single sided foam tape and put between the speaker bracket and the door. This should take care of it. On some cars they rattle, and on others they don't. When you use the tape you just have to cut it into small pieces (like one inch) and then stick them to the door so when you screw the plastic adaptor on it presses against the tape. There is a link at the end of my reply so you know what I mean, you can probably buy local, but this is just so you know what I'm talking about. Pretty much any one sided foam tape should work, as long as its not too thick. If you need anything else just let me know!!! amzn.to/2LeM1aV
@@GarageKing that was our plan but we couldn’t get tape locally so we just got packing foam squares and we’re able to just screw in the speakers over that. thanks for the quick reply!
thank you so much bro! i have a 07 coupe civic si and its speakers sound like ass, so im going to replace them soon. hopefully it isnt too different from this one. thanks again!
Hey, great video. Does the speaker rattle as the factory one has a foam material between the bracket and the door but the new brackets do not have that?
Thanks so much for the comment, much much appreciated :) The job isn't too bad if you take your time. I do notice on these Civics that the speakers burning out seems to be a common problem. Have a great weekend :)
@@GarageKing yes that is true, my girlfriend bought a 2007 civic and it was cheap to buy because it had things that do not worked including the 4 speakers. Again thanks for the links, I thought it was going to be more expensive to repair it.
@@priscon2314 Anytime :) If you ever need anything just let me know. I post a bunch of repairs, and if you ever come into a problem let me know (I'm a licensed mechanic) Enjoy your day :)
Do those speakers have good bass to them since they are 300 watts? I have a 2010 civic and looking for decent bass without getting subs and a amp. But this is definitely the best video I've seen on how to install those speakers. Unfortunately my rear speakers are covered with carpet.
Hey buddy thanks for the comment!!! I do my best to produce good videos so it’s nice to get some positive feedback. As for the bass they will not give you what a sub will, but they are way better than factory. A big step up and they sound much clearer and the treble is clean. They also have good detail. The type of music played on them is top 40 stuff. They are probably one on the better speakers on the market and I did a lot of reviewing and reading other buyers feedback before I bought them. I’m happy with them.
That's great to hear. I definitely will take your word for it. I'm still window shopping around and hopefully will decide soon. But I'm trying to avoid getting subs just so I can still access my spair if need be. But if not I'll get a small one. But this video is amazing so I'm definitely doing the work myself.
@@jjdavis7471 If you are looking for a real small sub you can get a Bazooka Tube as its easy to move around the trunk and really easy to take out if you need to get to your spare. You can also get self powered ones so you don't need to rig up a second amp. I used one before in a truck that didn't have a lot of room and it worked great. Just another option if you want a sub. Good luck!!!
GarageKing I'll definitely check that out. I've actually never heard of that brand of sub. Sound like something that will suit me for what I need if I so get a sub. Greatly appreciate the advise on all that. Definitely do some more videos like that.
@@jjdavis7471 They are great little subs in their own enclosure so definitely worth a check out. I know they make big ones, but they also make small ones and they are great.
Thanks for the comment brother. I'm not sure if this vehicle had the front tweeters in the dash. Not all civics have them. They all have the grill, but sometimes there is no speaker in there, the grill is just there as its cheaper to make all the cars the same. I never had any music coming out of them so either I don't have them, or they are burnt out. If you have them you can just leave them connected if they are still working. My car sounds great with the new speakers in the door and rear so I just left it at that.
Hi bro, I have a civic 2010 sedan, I was wondering if does it worth to replace the speakers (maybe JBL) without installing a amplifier or a subwoofer? Can I get a good sound improvement? (sorry for my bad english)
Hey Brother, any speaker purchase is really quite an improvement. The factory speakers are not good quality at all. You can see in my video the size of the magnets, and they are just cheap, that's why most fail. If you do replace them, I would replace with a two-way speaker. This way you get much better treble. On my car I didn't install an amp or anything, I just replaced the door and rear speakers and the new ones sound very good!!!! I think it does make a pretty good difference. Make sure if you buy new speakers, even if you don't buy from amazon, at least get those adaptors to mount in the door and rear deck area. You need those. I will provide a general amazon link for canada and the US and you can click it, then shop around for whatever you want, and I will get a small commission. Its not much but it helps support the channel. If you are from another county you can let me know and I can supply you with a general link. If you already are going to buy from somewhere else then no worries at all, I will still help you any way I can. I do think replacing the speakers makes a difference. Thanks for the comment, and be safe out there!!! Amazon.ca link amzn.to/2YHcSzZ Amazon.com link amzn.to/3rpIWEy
This is why I love hondas, secret Hidden bolts, mad engineering and interchangeable parts, I was thinking of upgrading my 01 model cos my 02 civic sounds better.. other then silver Handles on the door lmao 😆 I want a 8th gen like this
The 7th gen is a pretty sweet ride as well. I like the dash on the 8th gen, but as you know the stereo speakers sure needed an upgrade !!! Thanks for the comment brother :)
8th gens are the best. Very fun with great handling. If anything happens to my 06 im going to buy another 8th gen. And if anything happens to that one, another 8th gen
Hey brother, thanks for the comment. I was able to get it fairly snug, but looking back I would put some weather stripping (thin foam with the one sided backing - you peel the one side off) on the door so when you screw the plastic adaptor it would be better insulated. I'm lucky that I have no rattles so mine are ok, but I have heard from a few viewers that they had the odd rattle and some one sided foam tape helped. The door is not perfectly flat, as its molded to a certain shape, so you can't get that plastic thing to seat perfectly. When you screw it down don't put the crews in too tight as the steel they screw into is pretty thin and you can strip it pretty easily. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your weekend :)
Thanks for the comment brother ;) you need the brackets as the door is too thin to accept most speakers so the bracket brings the speaker out. Plus even if you could find a speaker I don’t think you could screw it right to the door as the hole in the door would not match up perfectly. The bracket takes care or all this. If you need anything else just let me know :)
I know, I can't believe how well this video did!!!! It was one of my older ones, but youtube loved it!!!!! Plus I think this vid actually helps a lot of people out. Changing Honda Civic speakers is quite common so its a great how to vid !!!
I have a 2009 CSX Type S, need to replace the rear deck speakers as one is blown/buzzes on BIG BASS ... this looks the same through the rear. However a friend/mechanic says that the rear housing you can see at 11:36 where the cable is plugged into should be kept b/c it adds to the speakers' punch, like a housing for a sub, and I will lose speaker intensity if I do not replace it with the new speaker.... thoughts? and thanks for this, I bought the tools, cables, and housing :)
Hey There, If I'm looking correctly the rear housing IS PART OF the factory speakers. New aftermarket speakers do not have that housing, and that is why you need to buy new housings and bolt the new speakers to the housing, and the housing clips into the car and is secured with one bolt. I'm thinking you purchased these housings? amzn.to/3xawn8W they are the same for the front and rear. You need them for the speakers to seat properly. If you want to go up one level to PRO you can buy foam amzn.to/4bLjMbf and put on the rear of the housing/bracket to prevent any rattles.
Hey there and thanks for the comment. The speakers that I bought came with an assortment of some screws so I used those. The screws are self tapping so they are the pointed ones and you don’t have to be exact on the size. Find one that is just snug. It’s not like machine threads where you can cross thread and strip bolts. As for the exact size, I’m not sure. I just had those extra ones. Sorry I couldn’t help you more buddy.
Dude this is such a great video! I hope you read my comment since this video was posted 4 years ago. I wanted to ask if the mounting brackets and the wire harness adapters are the same for both front and rear. Im on the process of upgrading my speakers after replacing the head unit.
What was the name & part no. for the speaker adapter? I have a 07 coupe and one speaker on driver side won’t play when it’s cold ..but works fine after the inside car get warm .. I seen other videos where they must of dis something wrong or wrong part because the speakers tweeter stuck out too far..An ended up having cut plastic off door panel inside... great video...very helpful..any information would be greatly appreciated ....thank you.
Hey Thanks for the comment, the speaker adaptors are Amazon.ca amzn.to/2YT2KVL and the wiring adaptors are amzn.to/31N8PoD For Amazon.com its amzn.to/2ANLkQZ and amzn.to/2ANLkQZ For this car you have to get shallow speakers as on some you are right, the tweeter sticks out too much. Just as a test when the car is warm and the speaker is playing open and close the door all the way and see what happens. I have seen where the wire right in the door jamb has a short.
Do you still recommend these speakers? I just got 2 “10 subs installed in my trunk but I’m pretty sure I need to upgrade my door speakers so I can hear the words clear over the bass.. just wanted an opinion because I’m highly thinking about buying the speakers and installing myself to save some money . This vid is a GREAT/CLEAR tutorial
Hey bro thanks for the comment. Can I ask you if you have an amp to drive the door speakers or are you just using the head units power? The ones that I actually used are higher power speakers amzn.to/2ZxeGeG I did find a set of door speakers that are cheaper amzn.to/3dPkYLV. If you have a sub in the back I would recommend getting the higher power rated ones that I used. The reason is most likely you are going to turn it up more :) So you are going to work them harder so there is less risk of blowing them. I would definitely upgrade those factory speakers, you will see how cheap they are once you take them out. If you have any other questions let me know, thanks buddy!!!
GarageKing thanks , and Im actually not 100% sure. I believe the amp may just be for the subs but I do want the high powered speakers for the door for the exact reason you stated! So I will be able to still hear the vocals and stuff because as of right now everything in my car is stock. Tuesday is when I’m getting the Memphis “10 subwoofers installed
@@hgfdksk17 Good call on getting the higher powered ones, I think that's the way to go and that's what I would be doing. The Memphis 10" are going to sound great!! You are going to have a sweet system buddy!!!

Okay thank you so much. I do have a question. When I am listening to my radio through Bluetooth when I get to like certain areas it sounds so staticky and will go out and go to a different FM station. Is that my radio head or my speakers?
@@jailynkendrick4882 That is most likely the radio head. How are you getting the bluetooth to the radiohead? Most of these radios don't have bluetooth in the factory radiohead. Some have a 3.5mm headphone port under the radio, and if you don't have a port, then you can install a cable very easily. I have a video on that.
@@jailynkendrick4882 Yup I have heard of those. If your cracking sound is intermittent then I would say its your transmitter most likely. To see if its the transmitter, or the head unit put the head unit on FM to a good known station and see how the sound comes out. Then go to your bluetooth FM transmitter. For the best sound quality you may want to consider getting a cable that plugs into your phone. I know its not wireless but it direct to the head unit and they sound pretty good. Here is a vid on how to install the wire. ruclips.net/video/VnShhW8eF0c/видео.html
When you "clipped" the wires to the speaker did you have to do any saudering action or did you have one of those clamping connectors to make stuff easier? Unless it comes in the manual for the speaker installment already From 8:14
no soldering required at all if you get the wiring harness adapters. amzn.to/2ZZdbGA If you don't get the wiring harness adaptors then you have to solder and look at the wiring diagram to ensure you get the + to the + of the speaker and the - to the - of the speaker. The trim is tight but you can get it off. I now use this, its the one and only you will ever need amzn.to/3CPg8dX
Hey, this video is great and all but I own a type r gt version of the civic aso the door panels are a bit different. Have you done a video on the type r versions? Please post link and I'll be more than happy to to watch it instead of paying halfords 200 quid to do it instead. Thanks in advance. 👍
Thanks for the positive comment, ok don’t have a vid on the type R (nice car by the way) but the process should be very similar as it’s still a Honda Civic so the mounting should be very similar. There is usually a screw at the latch that opens the door, and one or two at the armrest. The plastic fasteners that hold the door panel to the door should be the same. I wish I had a type R vid as I would like to work on that car. I got a Lexus the other day but I know that’s not going to help you. So it’s up to you if you want to tackle it, and if you were in Canada I would say come on by and I would do it and film it for the channel :)
I was down to one or two speakers when I did the replacement, as the other factory ones were burnt out, so having 4 working speakers compared with two was a really good improvement. But I remember how it sounded with 4 working factory speakers. The new speakers sounded a lot better, but I could tell they were harder to drive as they didn't sound as loud. The quality was better but it was not as loud. Don't let that scare you, as its still plenty loud.
Thanks so much buddy!!! I put a lot of effort into my vids so its great to get a comment like this. Sorry for the late reply, I have to check my settings as I have not been getting my notifications. Thanks again and if you need anything just let me know!!!!
Hey brother thanks for the comment, I think they should be very similar. Someone commented that their Honda Fit was pretty much the same. I would think the Insight is even more similar. I was doing some research and I think the adaptors I used should fit. While I can't confirm 100%, I believe they should. If you do order them, can you please let me know if they fit so I can help others. They should as the insight has the same size 6.5" speakers.
Hey buddy, I think they should be very similar. Michael Phelps commented about 6 months ago that his Honda fit was pretty much the same. I would think the insight is even more similar. I was doing some research and I think the adaptors I used should fit, while I can't confirm 100%, I believe they should. If you do order them, can you please let me know if they fit so I can help others. They should as the insight has the same size 6.5" speakers.
@@GarageKing yeah I was told most 6 in 3/4 inch speakers would fit but I'm just not too sure I might have to do that when I get home in a couple months
@@joelopezjl28 You are probably right, the speakers that I used were 6.5" and when I looked up the insight I found it takes 6.5" speakers. Will 6.75" fit? Most likely as its only a quarter inch. I can't remember how tight the 6.5" were in the brackets. There are a lot of 6.5" speakers on the market, so unless you are really set on a certain pair of 6.75" it might make more sense to go for 6.5" as you know they will fit, but totally up to you. I use to be one of those guys that lived and breathed stereo equipment and was very specific on the the types of amps and stuff that I wanted. I sort of mellowed out lately haha, but I can totally get if you got your eye on a certain set of speakers :)
@@GarageKing not looking for anything super fancy just something that has good bass I like to listen to a lot of heavy metal music and whatnot and the rear two speakers of my vehicle are blown out more than likely OEM from the original 2011 manufacturing date
@@joelopezjl28 You will be surprised at how cheap the factory speakers are!!! You are in a better position than me, I only had one speaker left working haha, and that was painful. Be weary of the really cheap 6.5" speakers, as they can be cheap quality like the factory and made with materials that don't last, or don't put up with a bit of abuse. I know the ones I bought were a bit more, but they are pretty awesome and you can crank the music and they are still going strong!!! I did put links in for lower wattage speakers, but if you like to turn it up, and like your bass I would lean towards getting decent speakers or you will just blow the new ones you buy.
Hey brother thanks for the comment. Actually it does matter, but the thing is they can all be REVERSED, and it would not matter. But they should all be the SAME. Its called polarity and it doesn't really affect the high's but it affects the bass. For example when you get a low bass note, the speakers in the doors, and the rear should all kick out the same time, and all move in the same direction. If one of the speakers is reversed it will move in the opposite direction. What this means is when you get bass and the speakers are trying to pressurize you car, the speaker that is reversed will work against the other ones. So one pulls and one pushes, but the net pressure remains the same. It's noticeable on bass, not on highs. At stereo competitions they use SPL meters (sound pressure level meters to measure the decibels) and those guys want their woofers all pushing the same way. If they work in opposite they cancel each other out (to a degree) Sorry for the long winded response, but yes it matters. It will still work if they are mixed up, but you will just loose low end sound. The reason I didn't mention them in the video is if you use those speaker connectors you are guaranteed to get them right, as the connectors only go on one way. If you don't used the connectors when you cut, just make sure you do them all the same. Hope I helped you out :)
Hello Where can I buy the rings for the speakers? And I have to buy them to install the speakers? The speakers I need is 6.5 Honda Civic hatchback 2012 Thanks! Btw awesome video!

Yup you can use the same for the front and rear. The speakers I found are actually very good and they are not that expensive. The link is in the video description.
@@GarageKing hey I just replaced it, and changed out the speakers for a little bit better ones. and thank you so much for this video man, it sounds so much better!
Hey Thanks for the comment :) The connectors that are clipped to the factory speakers WILL NOT fit any aftermarket speakers so you can either cut the wires and solder them, or get the wire adaptors which make it much much easier. Up to you :) Hope you are having a great weekend :)
Hello, do you how the factory tweeter is routed? I ordered component speakers, and I'm trying to figure out how to wire the tweeter in the factory location.
Hey brother thanks for the comment. I think you are talking about the ones that are in the front windshield area. I never removed those ones. I think you can remove them by popping off the cover (with a plastic tool) and then remove the speaker. The wires should be there, and you can unclip the wires them like the door speakers. To hook up to your new speakers you could probably get an adaptor, or cut into the wires.
I haven’t seen anyone do this but the gray clip from the factory wiring coming out of the Hondas already has the wire connections…you can just remove the gray clip… leaving metal connectors for new speakers.
Hi there, my front right and rear right speakers have no sound. Left ones work fine. Is there a way of troubleshooting and checking if speakers are 100% blown? I have the money to buy 1 pair of speakers and brackets.
Hey Thanks for the comment brother, go to 6:05 in my video and I show you how to do the check. I did check the speakers that I replaced and they were blown.
@@GarageKing Would it be okay buying just the 1 pair of speakers and leaving the stock ones on the left that work fine? I got Amazon cards for Christmas so I am trying not to severely go over that. Lol
@@rossfriesen2628 Normally you should not do that. It's really not recommended as the speakers should be balanced. Kind of like driving with unmatched tires LOL:) What I would do is test your speakers (the front and rear are the same) and if you have two good speakers then put those two working speakers in the rear, and buy a new set for the doors, this way you only have to buy one set, and your speakers (L&R) match. The front can be a different set from the rear, but left and right should be the same. If you have two good speakers you are set buddy.

Interesting question!!!! On some vehicles you can add insulation and it helps, but on this vehicle it would not be that easy. If you look at the 6:00 min mark, take a look at the plastic protection, you can see there is nothing behind the speaker, but it coverers the rest of the door. That is a problem because if you put insulation behind the speaker it would get wet and mold with water from the window. If the plastic protection was behind the speaker (its that way on some cars) then you could put insulation behind the speaker as it would be protected from moisture. Hopefully I helped you out and if you need anything else just let me know :)

The black interior is really nice too, so you got a hard decision. I think there were changes in the AUX jack for the stereos between 2006 and 2009 where on some you have to add a cable. On mine I had to add a cable. The video is on the channel and its not hard so don't let the lack of an AUX JACK for your phone sway your decision.

Thanks so much for the great comment. I know all about electrical gremlins. Hope you get it all sorted out :)

That was one best video I ever seen thanks a lot man I do have one question if you can teach as how to install tint for cars
Hey thanks for the comment !! I’ll definitely see if I can do that. In the meantime I do have some paint protection film videos up (which is similar) I used Xpel.

Thank you for watching :)

Hi there, what did you do with the factory tweeters in the dashboard? Did you disconnect them or are they still playing?
Thanks for the comment brother. I'm not sure if this vehicle had the front tweeters in the dash. Not all civics have them. They all have the grill, but sometimes there is no speaker in there, the grill is just there as its cheaper to make all the cars the same. I never had any music coming out of them so either I don't have them, or they are burnt out. If you have them you can just leave them connected if they are still working. My car sounds great with the new speakers in the door and rear so I just left it at that.
Do the speakers rattle in the door if so, did you install some kind of deadening material between the door and the speaker? Thank you.
Actually they don't. I was kinda surprised as I was thinking it was going to rattle, but it didn't, so no insulation needed. At least not for mine.

Question: why didnt you use the old brackets?
Because they are part of the speaker, you can't separate them so when you remove the old speaker you have no brackets.
@@GarageKing Ah.. i saw another review where they removed the umm past brackets
@@obliterate7799 Then they were not the factory speakers (if they had brackets)

You bet, the 8th gen is iconic !! I love everything about the car!!!
Great detailed video. How snug were you able to get the speakers? Have you tested it for or had any rattle?
Great content. Are the brackets the same and wiring harnesses the same for front and back?
Yup they are
@@GarageKing appreciate that
nice! by the way can we just screw on the speaker instead of using those brackets you put?
Thanks for the comment brother ;) you need the brackets as the door is too thin to accept most speakers so the bracket brings the speaker out. Plus even if you could find a speaker I don’t think you could screw it right to the door as the hole in the door would not match up perfectly. The bracket takes care or all this. If you need anything else just let me know :)

What size were the extra screws you used? Thanks for the video! Very helpful!

Just as a test when the car is warm and the speaker is playing open and close the door all the way and see what happens. I have seen where the wire right in the door jamb has a short.
That sound when you pulled the speaker connector off, was that from House of the Dead?
Ha Ha !!! Love the comment, that was actually a dinosaur sound in the Final Cut Pro library. Its the software I use for editing :)
GarageKing thanks for the help!

Hello! I was wondering if the speaker wire adapter clips came with the speakers or did you buy them separately?
Hey buddy, I had to buy them separately. Wish they came with the speakers!!! I bought the Metra 72-7800 Honda and Acura Speaker Adapter Harness Connector. The link from amazon is www.amazon.ca/dp/B0002BEPJY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?&linkCode=sl1&tag=garageking-20&linkId=46f1919c046637b4f69216106a3f993c
If you need anything else just let me know :) Thanks!!!
No you have to buy them separate possibly online
How long did it take you to replace the speakers by pair of each section?
Not too long at all. Maybe 20min per door. I took longer because I was filming it. Make sure you use good quality trim panel remove tools.
As a girl this makes me feel like I can do this all by myself. Great video!!
Thanks so much for the great comment, and I'm glad you feel you can do it :) I think that more women should be tackling their automotive work!!! If you need any advice along the way feel free to reach out. Thanks !!!
@@GarageKing I have one of those like cigarette lighter things that you plug in if that makes sense
Thanks a lot my man! Really helpful video! You nailed it 💯💯💯 👊🏾👌🏾
Thanks soo much for the comment brother !!!! Really appreciate it :)
When you "clipped" the wires to the speaker did you have to do any saudering action or did you have one of those clamping connectors to make stuff easier? Unless it comes in the manual for the speaker installment already
From 8:14
no soldering required at all if you get the wiring harness adapters. amzn.to/2ZZdbGA If you don't get the wiring harness adaptors then you have to solder and look at the wiring diagram to ensure you get the + to the + of the speaker and the - to the - of the speaker. The trim is tight but you can get it off. I now use this, its the one and only you will ever need amzn.to/3CPg8dX
One thing to add is you’re gonna want to add foam tape to the bottom of the bracket because it doesn’t fit in flush. And you’ll get rattling if not
Excellent suggestion and you are right. Those brackets don’t fit flush. There is a gap. Good call :)
One word" perfect!"
Thanks so much brother !!!!
How was the audio quality compared to factory speakers??
I was down to one or two speakers when I did the replacement, as the other factory ones were burnt out, so having 4 working speakers compared with two was a really good improvement. But I remember how it sounded with 4 working factory speakers. The new speakers sounded a lot better, but I could tell they were harder to drive as they didn't sound as loud. The quality was better but it was not as loud. Don't let that scare you, as its still plenty loud.
Super helpful, thanks!
Thank you for the great comment !!!
My 2006 Civic has little tweeters on the front dashboard in the corners. Did you replace those in another video?
Hey thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I don't have a video on the front speakers for this car. Sorry about that
Great video dude! Thanks
Thanks so much buddy!!! I put a lot of effort into my vids so its great to get a comment like this. Sorry for the late reply, I have to check my settings as I have not been getting my notifications. Thanks again and if you need anything just let me know!!!!
I would guess that this is the same for the 2011 honda insight correct?
Hey brother thanks for the comment, I think they should be very similar. Someone commented that their Honda Fit was pretty much the same. I would think the Insight is even more similar. I was doing some research and I think the adaptors I used should fit. While I can't confirm 100%, I believe they should. If you do order them, can you please let me know if they fit so I can help others. They should as the insight has the same size 6.5" speakers.
Great video man.
Thanks very much, I put a lot of effort into making them so really glad you enjoyed !!!! Thanks for the comment, keeps me going :)
Good video
Thanks brother !!! I do appreciate the comment :)
Presumably this vid should work for my 2011 honda insight?
Do you need to change put for a new battery or those are just fine with the same battery
Hey brother, thanks for the comment :) No need to change any batteries :)
Do the wires matter? I don’t catch you mentioning it and I don’t see other comments about them either? So does it matter which color wire goes where?
Hello
Where can I buy the rings for the speakers?
And I have to buy them to install the speakers? The speakers I need is 6.5

Do you need the wiring adaptors? Or can you keep the same ones that were in use with the old speakers?
Hey Thanks for the comment :) The connectors that are clipped to the factory speakers WILL NOT fit any aftermarket speakers so you can either cut the wires and solder them, or get the wire adaptors which make it much much easier. Up to you :) Hope you are having a great weekend :)
@@GarageKing awesome! Ok understood! Thanks for the fast response
@@javigalinsky417 For sure !!!! Good luck on the job !!!
I was not aware of that!!! Thanks for sharing brother :)
Kind of like driving with unmatched tires LOL:)
What I would do is test your speakers (the front and rear are the same) and if you have two good speakers then put those two working speakers in the rear, and buy a new set for the doors, this way you only have to buy one set, and your speakers (L&R) match. The front can be a different set from the rear, but left and right should be the same. If you have two good speakers you are set buddy.

Hi, have ever tried to put more insulation on the door? or do you think that with the factorys ones its enough ?
Interesting question!!!! On some vehicles you can add insulation and it helps, but on this vehicle it would not be that easy. If you look at the 6:00 min mark, take a look at the plastic protection, you can see there is nothing behind the speaker, but it coverers the rest of the door. That is a problem because if you put insulation behind the speaker it would get wet and mold with water from the window. If the plastic protection was behind the speaker (its that way on some cars) then you could put insulation behind the speaker as it would be protected from moisture. Hopefully I helped you out and if you need anything else just let me know :)

That why I'm here checking your videos, hopefully I can upload some videos once a have it, I need to choose between 2:

2008 with 110000km with lack of info about maintenance and some strachs, white interior
Both have the executive pack 😍
@@cristianveliz412 They both sound like great cars and that's a tough choice. The one with 110000km should not need a clutch if it was driven correctly, but you never know, the scratches could probably be buffed out if they are only in the clear coat? The black interior is really nice too, so you got a hard decision. I think there were changes in the AUX jack for the stereos between 2006 and 2009 where on some you have to add a cable. On mine I had to add a cable. The video is on the channel and its not hard so don't let the lack of an AUX JACK for your phone sway your decision.
I also have a vid on how to do an oil change on it, and I put out a vid about 2 weeks ago on using HYDRO2. It's great for UV and does protect the clear coat. I use the Honda hood in the video and you can see the damaged clear on the fender. These Hondas for some reason had poor clear coat so check the roof, and front fenders of the car for any pitting before you buy, if you find any clear peeling off, use that as a bargaining chip :)
