Nice video! Unfortunately, part of one of my rear door clips broke off though and fell in the door. How would I get it out? Will it cause any issues if I leave it?
Getting those off was a huge pain, but I kept at it and eventually got it done thanks to this video! If I had it to do over I would buy the proper pry tools instead of ruining my wooden spatula. He is right that you need to wear work gloves!
Thanks so much! I have a 2009 Honda Civic and I live in South AZ. The window trim was crumbling to dust from the desert! I bought a whole trim set on eBay for about $25. With your experience and well done tutorial, I got this done quick! FYI, I bought a pry tool set from harbor freight for about $5 and it really helped. Kudos! My car looks SO much better and will probably help with the life of my older car. ❤
Oh my gosh, glad I watched this. My mechanic wants $480 to replace just the 2 front windows. Seems like too much to spend. Going to give it a try. Thanks so much! Very helpful video.
Thank you so much. Today i changed the exterior windows trim of my honda civic 2006 after watching your video. It took me only 20 mins. The parts cost me only $30 for all 4 trims on ebay. Super easy!
Another great video. I was washing my car yesterday and noticed the window trim was all cracked and dry. And no surprise, you had the exact video I needed. You saved me a ton time by providing the part numbers and the how-to video. Thanks again!

Be sure to get the correct part numbers for your vehicle if you decide to do this job. Thanks for the video. Recently purchased a Honda civic, 2010. Honda is known for this problem, and the 1 owner car has it. 75000 miles on it. Nothing to do, but watch great videos, and do it yourself if you're able to!
I just replaced my trim with the suggested aftermarket kit. I am so grateful for this detailed video. My rear trim was very hard to remove and I might have given up if I did know (thanks to you) exactly what was going on underneath.
Just installed mine right now. It’s note an OEM but for the price of $42 for the set versus a piece for $80 each I’m good. Thanks for this video it’s very helpful.
@@BigDog50001 this video helped me save money too :) hope that you'll make a video for roof molding removal and installation too, thank you in advance!
Thanks for this video just changed my trim out. For the back windows I found it easier popping them out from the front instead of the back took a while for the first one but did it really quick on the second. Appreciate this content.
Thank you for your straight to the point, no messing about video. This isn’t your problem, but I had already purchased that exact aftermarket kit. The box had a deceptively slight crease to it, because all four were bent. This was discovered after removing the shredded trim, leaving me with no choice but to install them. There is no contact method other than a return, no replacement is sent until that’s initiated. I don’t think duct tape would have worked in the interim, lol. EBay has the exact same belts, minus the part numbers for half the price of Amazon. It still was cheaper than the OEM prices, all tolled.
This was super helpful. I used these exact steps on my 2011 TSX. You need to kind of push the trim piece forward towards the mirror so it lines up. Thanks for the video!
I got some for 50 bucks for all 4 from amazon, i hope they work well. the reviews are good, im waiting till next week and seeing what im in for it looks simple.
Thanks! Your video really helped me do the job and save some money! The front was pretty easy. I had some trouble getting the rear molding off but finally got it. I used the tools you provided in the link. My 2009 Civic LX molding was horrible and this made it look great. (It used the same parts as yours!)
It's amazing how newer cars parts like that wear off sooner than older models...I have an 2002 Civic and my window moldings haven't cracked...I have even seen newer Civic with the rubber completely worn off and theres just a big gap between the window and molding...
Nice Honda videos on this channel. At the inside front of the front doors there is a small opening to access the molding's release tab to pop up the front of the molding. From there the service manual says to slide it forward a bit then lift starting at the front, and then roll it a bit away from the door to release the rear hook. I don't know the "official" procedure for the back, I've only ever done the front.
I looked up the "official" rear door procedure. If you want to get the rear trim piece off without breaking the lock tabs then you have to remove the inner door panel to access the molding's release tabs. If you don't care about breaking the lock tabs just just pop them as you see here.

I will definitely subscribe now. Thanksss!.
I found it a lot easier to pull straight from the middle of each mold with some excessive force and wriggling. This causes the clips holding it in to turn sideways and come off easier.
I just recently did the same to my '99 Civic/2D. What prompted me was that my windows were showing vertical streaks- and the window motors were laboring. Turns out the glass was getting jammed up by 22 yo rubber, that had hardened and accrued crud. The new belts cost a fortune....$110ea. + shipping, but much cheaper than the alternative: new window/door motors and the labor taking apart a door. (been there before/different car)

Thanks for this video. I watched another video which recommended opening the back of each door to replace the seals and that scared me a bit. It would have been nice if you also showed how the new seals performed when you closed the windows😂
You'll have to decide how (or if) you want to do it, but the Honda trim I installed on that Civic has worked flawlessly, it looked and operated just like it did when it came out of the factory.
This was a really good video. I felt like I could do this myself. Do you have a video on replacing the rubber weather molding on the windshield of a Honda civic? Mine is getting crumbly.
Thanks! I will need to replace my lower side window trim on my 09 Si coupe soon. The painted metal is beginning to chip away and the rubber is flaking off.
Awesome video. Just bought an 09 Accord and these need replaced. Was hoping it would be an easy task. Any concerns different from the civic to an accord?
Thank you. On those Accords you will probably need to remove the door panel (see my door lock video on that model if you want to see how to remove panel). See below for some tips on doing the job. There are usually two screws on each end of molding that need to be removed. After that, there are 4 or 5 clips that hold the molding in place. The clips can usually be slid an inch or two towards front of vehicle to release them (the clips have a Lock position and a Release position). For Reinstall, the molding is supposed to be installed with the clips in the Release position and then locked into place after molding is installed on door. Hope this helps!
Great video! Replaced these and your video was very instructive. Is there a similar procedure for replacing the upper molding and pillar molding? I have an '09 Civic and they are covered with some kind of beauty tape that has deteriorated and peeled off in most places. Looks pretty bad. I can't seem to find those parts?
Thanks! I don't have any jobs scheduled to replace the other trim pieces right now, but if I do I will try and film it. Usually those moldings are held in place by clips (but sometimes they hide a screw or two) and in the case of the roof molding they usually have a pin in the rear that also holds the molding down. Many of these parts are dealer only, and the older the vehicle gets the greater chance of them being discontinued.
