Yep, I would agree. A little silence is a good thing here and there, just shows he is concentrating on the work. But the commentary that is there is always very refreshing and entertaining. It's a little more personal I would think.

Inspired by Dan, I went to the local cobbler in my nearest town (a family owned shop that's been there since 1916) and got my Dad's black steel-tipped dress shoes resoled. I've worn those shoes for every dress up event since High School (including my wedding)! Now I'll get another few decades out of them, and I never would have thought to do it if I wasn't watching Dan (and Ron and Reg). Long live Dan and Tring!

Man I hope you one day take up "upgrading" your craft to full shoe maker. I would love to see you make uppers for heels, shoes and boots. It's so interesting, but there aren't many out there who do a good job of explaining it.
The amount of effort gone into making and editing this video is just on another level. The way you positioned the cameras so we can see every step, just this itself would likely have increased the job time by 3x. As much as I thoroughly enjoyed this meticulously done video, I did miss the commentary that you give. Your videos have such a calming effect, I often times watch them towards the end of my day to help me relax and wind down.

I find myself worrying you’ll injure yourself pulling a blade towards you with quite a bit of pressure. I know you know what you’re doing, being a professional cobbler. It’s just the dad in me that sees the danger in it. Brilliant videos by the way. Very informative and enjoyable.

Hey Dan, out of curiosity who thought you this trade and how did you get into this? You're very good at your job but who taught you? Would love to hear about your background/education into shoe repair. Seeing your vids there is so much more then just replacing a heel. Somehow you've learned about how shoes are constructed and also how to improve the design of a shoe and make them better then before. Who thought you where did you find the knowledge?
I believe that his father was a cobbler (or someone was a cobbler) and they taught him! Although i dont know for sure, so take this with a grain of salt!
He knew the owner of the shop he now owns. The original cobbler was a close friend of Dan's family's. The original cobbler taught Dan and his father before moving on and taking over another shop.

As many of you have heard George has handed the reigns over to myself to take good care of Tring shoe repairs and as such I wanted to take a moment to say hello. The story goes that many years ago George actually trained my dad to fix shoes, so I have known George since I was a little nipper, I have also been in the trade myself for some 15 years. George has also stressed that it is of paramount importance for the notes on the door to stay so be sure to watch for them! I have recently in the past 3 years or so, spent a lot of time in Tring and absolutely love the community and the area so look forward to meeting all of you and taking care of your shoe repair, key cutting, engraving and passport photo needs! Myself and my close family have been working extremely hard over the weekend to give the shop a lovely fresh refit as fast as possible and will be open for business Thursday. it looks great so far especially with a certain character in the window 😉. I'm normally not a fan of the Chelsea style boot but these combat/Chelsea Timberlands are nice. Gotta congratulate you on getting 2nd place in an all natural body building competition. It's more dedication than the typical competition because it's all natural. I've always had my toe in the gym over the years so I've learned a lot about it. I have a close cousin who's husband competes in the all natural power lifting circuit. It's a lot of time & consistency what you do just to compete. Enjoyed the video.
I'm a member of the NTA, the Natural Tosser's Association. We toss many things like rocks, footballs, coins, marbles, and generally anything that can be tossed or thrown. 😅

G'day Tring terrific job that you did on those boots, that sanding and polishing machine is really something love how it rotates to different polishing and sanding wheels I could use that in my workshop. You brought back some grate memories talking about the gym I used to do it many moons ago I 64 now and have a lot of medical issues so that payed way to weights, your shop is tidy and well appointed I have subscribed and look forward to the next instalment.
