To my knowledge, Belleville makes most of the standard issued combat boots, for the US at least. I think the only branch that issues non Bellevilles is the USMC, which does issue Bates.
It depends on which military and what was their purpose. Some boots are made to last (non-combat roles) and some are intentionally made disposable (usually combat boots). These disposable types are what they are... longevity was not on on the list when they designed them :)

I had no idea they have now have two versions of the classic Timberland boot. I got my first pair in High School in the late 1980s and went through 3 pairs before moving cross country with no real winter. They were awesome. Saw a pair at DSW last week and as with many items over the years, I was dismayed by how much cheaper they looked compared to my old trusty ones back in the day. So thanks for this video, now I know the originals are still made and I'm going to order a pair!
I bought a pair of Timberland “ Forest Boots” in 1982 finally gave up on them in 1985 fully lined in leather, full leather insole, super tough soles, waterproof insulated, Made in America, bloody superb. Bought another pair, synthetic lining not so comfortable, And, as I found to my severe displeasure, not petrol resistant !!!

I have a pair of premium wheat timbs, I say they definitely are worth the extra $80 in my experience. They did keep my feet warm for sure and made many outfits look great in the process. I never had the basics, so I can't speak for those. However i should add that i certainly got what i paid for, much more durable than i anticipated and better than reviews have said they'd be. They do run a little big, so get a half size down when getting regular sizes or a full size down when getting wides. My only complaint was that the tread likes to grab rocks and sometimes the timbs can be hard with on/off access. But I can wear them all day for the most part and that makes me happy w my purchase.
Timberlands boots can cost between $75- $190 depending on the quality and size of the boots. For a pair of timberlands boots that cost $140, it costs $35 to make them and sell them to the retailer for $70 so they only pay $105 and get profit when someone buys the shoes. The company only pays 25% of the original cost to make the boots and sells it to the company for 50%. They receive 25% profit and taking advantage of us
I’ve been wearing the regular timberlands for daily wear for almost 10 years after I sprained my ankle too many times. I love ‘em. So do my coworkers apparently , as they stole some I left at work.
I’ve had both the premium and basics. I got a pair of basics about 4 years ago and this winter was shopping and saw the basics and the quality has gone down on the basics tremendously. The basics use to be a good deal I would get them for Christmas when I was in middle in high school my parents would buy them on the Black Friday deal for 100 dollars. Now I’m going to get the premium again now it’s only an extra 40 dollars and the quality is just that much better.
Thanks for posting. I’ve been through several pairs of the premiums. The y used to be great and I would get years of use out of them. The last pair I bought fell apart in about 6 months. The sole starting coming unglued from the upper, the leather on the cuff started peeling, and the stitching was coming undone as well. For 200$ I was very dissatisfied. All that said when my little brother asked for timberlands for Christmas I bought him a pair of the basics so this video was right in time.
Your video is amazing! Thanks to you I realized that the Timberlands I bought through amazon were marketed as the premium ones were not actually right. They were just the Cheap Timberland (that too in kids size).
I'm one of those grumpy east coast people that you mentioned. These aren't really my style, but I wear them anyway, they are just a fact of life here. I have no complaints, they are cheap and keep my feet warm. Never knew about the premium model, I'll certainly go for those next time, although my years old cheapies show no signs of giving up anytime soon. Thanks for the informative video.

I was just imagining, as the Timberland went through that blade, coming home and finding my brand new pair in the same condition after my shit-nuts ex had just done the same!!
I brought a pair of Timberland Pro's from 'Dave's' 6th Ave NYC back in march 2015, whilst visiting. The store assistant told me that Pro's were harder wearing, better fitting, waterproof(not steel toe capped though). I live in UK and have to admit aside from being half the price of UK, I've just waded through inches of snow today in the same boots. 6yrs later they still going strong....... You got to give 'em plenty of TLC.👍
I'm not a guy who buys designer footwear or even cares what I wear or look like as long as it works. I have however bought the timberland pros with anti fatigue sole and they were an excellent work boot. Used with a pair of 500 dollar insoles made for some expensive footwear though lol
I'm glad I saw this video, made up my mind and bought me these Butters... More expensive but worth having and knowing that I'm wearing the legit ones there's nothing more gratifying.... Thank you for this video....
this is incredible! thank you for doing these comparisons. nobody has ever done them like this. really appreciate it. not sure if you can do a tear down of the Courma Guy Timberlands. I am not sure if they are premiums or basic.
My first Pair of Timbswere the basic ones. I chose them because they were lighter, I’m used to wear very light sneakers. Honestly I can say I would like them to be more cushed, but since I don’t really wear them more than twice a week I’m happy with them. :) Nice vid. 🧍🏻
I bought a pair of safety toe Tim pro boots. The insole was the most comfortable I wore in 30 years of shop work. It was the only pair of boots I didn’t replace the insole in. It was like walking on clouds.
i’ve always worn timberlands, I bought a pair on holiday in new york in 2015 to use as work boots since they were cheaper than here in the UK, 5 years of everything you can imagine: Mud, cement, even fire to name but a few! still holding up strong!
Not even gonna lie. I got emotional when you cut the Tim man. I absolutely love LOVE Timberland premium boots. IMO worth every penny spent on them, just like quality cowboy boots and work boots.
I've had mine for 10 years now, used them for warehouse work and around in the countryside in the UK and they've held up amazingly. They're expensive but definitely worth it IMO
Watching you cut through them did hurt my soul a lil bit lol…but def gave me confirmation that I made a wise choice to purchase the premium pair. Def adore your cat in that cute Christmas sweater.
I've been wearing my premium Timberland boots every day in winter for 5 years now, and they're still mostly good. The soles are hardly worn, except on the heel, and they've developed a crack in the leather along the big toe, where the leather meets the sole. The cracks get a little deeper each year, so this might be the last winter i wear them. The waterproofing also "wore out" at some point, so now I regularly treat them with leather grease, which did change the colour of the leather, but otherwise improved the boots and also enhanced their insulation properties. I was never too keen on the yellow colour to begin with.
This info is great, and I love these videos. Do you have a webpage, or somewhere you break down your preferences? Even if I watch 6 or 7 of these, it’s tough to get a feel of your personal preference. A couple questions I think we all have: What should we expect to pay for a decent work boot? What are some visual tell tale things we should look for, since we can’t cut them apart at the store (boy were they mad at me that day) Are there any brands you are consistently pleased with? And disappointed by? Don’t let these boots die in vain, man!
Waterproof means no water from the outside in, but with these Timberland boots it means also no water from inside to outside. Sweaty feet after a day work. No goretex liner, so your feet are closed in and the insole gets wet.

@@usedbyjesus we only wear steel toe hun
I have the basic version and reinforced it with heavy duty insoles. Love love them.
Nice review by the way!!!
I just RE-looked at this video before I bought a new pair of boots. You’ve created a wonderful resource. Thx
One suggestion is bates or other military issued boots
To my knowledge, Belleville makes most of the standard issued combat boots, for the US at least. I think the only branch that issues non Bellevilles is the USMC, which does issue Bates.
That would be interesting. Been through many pairs myself.
How about the Belleville 775 vs. Danner Fort Lewis?
It depends on which military and what was their purpose. Some boots are made to last (non-combat roles) and some are intentionally made disposable (usually combat boots). These disposable types are what they are... longevity was not on on the list when they designed them :)
Bates boots are terrible. As a aircraft maintainer I only use rocky.
Finally a channel for weirdos like us that enjoy the details and quality of leather products and other materials . That's the number one thing I care about when I buy my air Jordan's good quality and it's sad to say not many have that
I fucking love leather, Silk, wood and other quality materials. It's so nice to own someting that will be fine over years of use.
Air Jordan's are never gonna be good quality
Some are but most arent
That doesn't make you a weirdo. You want to know what you're getting for your money, as do I. When you're trying to decide between product A and B, videos like this are gold.
Thank you Mr. Boot Scientist! Now I know why they are so comfy. Walk 4 kilometers in them and all the time it just felt like walking on a thick carpet!
Forget the boots...
so are we not going to talk about this cats Christmas sweater?
Friggin adorable
This man is magical. He ignored the kitty! Such strong power!
Man I know u make a lot of videos on this but the way you cutt up them tim's GODDDDD!!!!!!
Toast in Santa sweater! Also, it's great to see how footwear is put together when it's actually sold to the consumer. No where to hide, no safe space for hype. And you're keeping examples to compare. Five star channel, Toast.
They receive 25% profit and taking advantage of us
@@abdellah4878 yeah, that's how you make money, duh
Your reviews are the best! This way we can actually compare and decide which is the better option. You've gained a new subscriber!
So cool to see this in 2023! Congratulations.
Your video is amazing! Thanks to you I realized that the Timberlands I bought through amazon were marketed as the premium ones were not actually right. They were just the Cheap Timberland (that too in kids size).
Love this dude this feels so natural
I'm one of those grumpy east coast people that you mentioned. These aren't really my style, but I wear them anyway, they are just a fact of life here. I have no complaints, they are cheap and keep my feet warm. Never knew about the premium model, I'll certainly go for those next time, although my years old cheapies show no signs of giving up anytime soon. Thanks for the informative video.
*laughs in Canadian* Timberland boots are not all they're cracked up to be.
But most people don’t live in a desolate Winter Wasteland
Subscribed!! Love this vid actually just discovered your channel, I appreciate what you're doing and hope you'll get a stack of sponsors and products to really review them not for the sake of marketing but to see which is which :D
This both hurts and interests me 😂 love seeing how they're made but hurts seeing them cut 😭
lmfaooo the ending tho... "then see you now" that made me sub right there
Thanks for the video’s I’m glad you’re making these very helpful 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks for making a video on it. Much learned for buying options.
These timbs take me back! when I was younger and wearing them in high school and throughout my 20's....gonna have hit the store to buy a set of premiums! Subscribed.
Glad I got the Premiums. Love your vids, discovering quality boots I've never heard!
Very informative comparison! Your video helpt me to make a decision! Way to go, dude!
Thanks for the review. Helped me a lot making a decision.

He's teaching angry girlfriends how to slice our shoes up like cake 😢
If they know how to use power tools 😂
@@RexWort yeah, they prefer kitchen knives and paint.
I was just imagining, as the Timberland went through that blade, coming home and finding my brand new pair in the same condition after my shit-nuts ex had just done the same!!
Crazy Beany balls in my face
We ( angry girl) already know how to get even
Should of compared them to the Timberland Pro version as well... yes, there's yet another version. Great video, cute cat!
Yes! I have a pair and am very curious
The pros are the same they have steel toes.
@@Slimecrazy234 Not the same. That's why I think it would be a good comparison video.
This isn’t my main RUclips material, but hearing about your dream is what made me subscribe.
Same here. I hope you achieve what you set out to do.
Same here
Finally someone made a video about this!! thank you
this is incredible! thank you for doing these comparisons. nobody has ever done them like this. really appreciate it. not sure if you can do a tear down of the Courma Guy Timberlands.
Nice vid. 🧍🏻
Thanks for your review on Timberland's boots. It helped me to choose my 6-inch boots. The Premium, for sure.
I bought a pair of safety toe Tim pro boots. The insole was the most comfortable I wore in 30 years of shop work. It was the only pair of boots I didn’t replace the insole in. It was like walking on clouds.
Awesome channel. Just discovered it and subscribed. Happy holidays to you and everyone!
i’ve always worn timberlands, I bought a pair on holiday in new york in 2015 to use as work boots since they were cheaper than here in the UK, 5 years of everything you can imagine: Mud, cement, even fire to name but a few! still holding up strong!
It's 2021! I just bought a pair of the 10061 Premiums and I'm glad this video helped confirm the extra (hard earned) money spent. 🙏🏾
I like how the premium boots come with a D3O insole now. I was surprised they don’t mention it in the specs as D3O insoles aren’t cheap
Not even gonna lie. I got emotional when you cut the Tim man. I absolutely love LOVE Timberland premium boots. IMO worth every penny spent on them, just like quality cowboy boots and work boots.
That premium insole insert is amazing, I bought a pair to replace my worn out red wing inserts recently and it’s day and night difference!
Its not worth 100 dollars tho. You can literally get good insoles for 10 bucks 😁
hey so i watched ur video on the types and qualities of leather. what would u consider this? like on a scale of 1-10 how good is the newbuck?
Thumbs up for kitty scritches mid vid. I dunno how you held out that long dude, amazing.
Just saw this! Love this style of reveiw so much! Thankyou for doing this! Also live the cat!!
I've had mine for 10 years now, used them for warehouse work and around in the countryside in the UK and they've held up amazingly. They're expensive but definitely worth it IMO
wow, I didn't even know there was a basic one when I bought my premium ones. happy I got these now. great videos. thank you.
Miyabiko same i just assumed they were just making cheaper like all modern things
The cheap Tim's are called Belgium Waffles
Well i actually thought that my Premiums were the crappy ones. You make me feel better man! Very informative video! I already bought the Pro's
Watching you cut through them did hurt my soul a lil bit lol…but def gave me confirmation that I made a wise choice to purchase the premium pair. Def adore your cat in that cute Christmas sweater.
as a guy who loves to wear Timbs, this hurt to watch
Yeah, wanna cry than I see this😂 And have no idea, how is this in my recommendations, if I'm from Netherlands😂😂
Facts!
Big facts yo!!
i have Premium timb ☹
Very much
I've been wearing my premium Timberland boots every day in winter for 5 years now, and they're still mostly good. I was never too keen on the yellow colour to begin with.
thank you for this comprehensive video!
This info is great, and I love these videos. Do you have a webpage, or somewhere you break down your preferences? Even if I watch 6 or 7 of these, it’s tough to get a feel of your personal preference. A couple questions I think we all have:
What should we expect to pay for a decent work boot?
What are some visual tell tale things we should look for, since we can’t cut them apart at the store (boy were they mad at me that day)
Are there any brands you are consistently pleased with? And disappointed by?
Don’t let these boots die in vain, man!
"...... Then...... See you now.....?" 😄
Toastey the Cat is so cute!
Send the boots to Brian the Bootmaker (on you tube) so he can put em back together....
😭
So glad i found this video! The christmas sweater cat is purrfection!
I just stumbled on your channel and it’s funny how you were just asking for 50 k subs, and you’re at 455k as I’m in 2022. Kudos to you!
Waterproof means no water from the outside in, but with these Timberland boots it means also no water from inside to outside. Sweaty feet after a day work. No goretex liner, so your feet are closed in and the insole gets wet.
