- Today in the shop we have a cool job. We have a pair of Barkers brogue boots in for a conversion, that's right we're changing these from leather soles to Dainite rubber soles. The customer wanted something a little longer lasting than leather. Enjoy.

I have no idea why this was recommended....But I never knew how therapeutic it was to watch shoes get repaired 🤣
@Digby Dooright me too!!! 😆😆 Makes me look at shoes in a whole new light 😂
Also helps folk realise how much work goes in for their money
Same here 😂
Ditto for me
Try watches ;)
I recently had these soles fitted to my Loake shoes. Dan’s work is second to none, the quality of his craftsmanship is outstanding.
I’d love to see some of your customers reactions to big changes like these boots
yeah that'd be nice
Seeing the reaction would be great 👍🏼
Good to see a youngster with pride for his work
My very thoughts ,!!!!!!!!
If i was 20 years younger I'd be asking to do an apprenticeship with this guy.
Such a happy chap and i get the impression he'd make a great teacher.
If I didnt live so far away I would have already asked 😂
I found this channel yesterday and stayed up until 9am watching video. This is dangerously entertaining. Great work!
Bless you for channelling the sole stitching. Drives me nuts when people don't. Excellent work man!
Hi Dan,
I really can't believe how fast you grow your subscribers list! I guess people know a good thing when they see one... You are a master craftsman!
👍👀👍
I love your store front and shop! Probably a weird statement, but we don’t have any old school shops left in my area. Actually, we don’t have any shoe shops at all🙁 Great videos and you do really nice work too! Keep the videos coming.
A very nice pair of boots. Less costly than Tricker's but very similar in design. I am glad I watched.
Great video. This is why I always buy English-made shoes that can be repaired.
I LOVE that it bugs people when you drop the nails on the floor. It’s like they don’t understand in a working shop you sweep the floor at the end of the day! LOL you’re a true craftsman sir. Love the channel
I really, REALLYYYY don’t care about shoes that much; However, it’s very interesting watching the technical aspects of repairing shoes. I never knew how much work actually goes into maintaining them
I k.r. makes me look at shoes different now and rethink my next buy now with a tiny bit of knowledge how they are built . I have 1 pair of good military boots from Haix that are pretty down after 6 years (can't complain for150 €) now but they have a synthetic foam sole molded on. I don't know if you can resole this style, have to check some more videos from Dan the Cobbler with ❤ and sole 😉
dude your channel is so satisfying and can watch this all day everyday . awesome idea for a channel,,,, great job
You know your job well. I think this is you dream job very nice🤝
This boots I like'em very much, nice job!! I also like the song you whistle and the "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" song also. Best regards from Mexico
Those are lovely boots. Nice job.
Good job and never be afraid to wish people merry Christmas !!!
Love this job. Leather to rubber!
fantastic transformation... those boots look sick.. did a wicked job
You are a Master of your trade.🙏
Definitely a craftsman
How about a Q&A for 20k subscribers? According to my calculations that will be in n Wednesday?😯🍾🥳
Dan I love your intro/job done music 😆 I always do a little boogie when I hear it. Ur da best!
I have the shoe version of these Barker boots and I love the leather sole and how it looks and feels on foot, I wouldn't change it for the Dainite (would probably buy another pair with the composite sole)
An elegant pair of boots there!
Love the content mate. True craftsmanship. A side note though; you are aware that the exclamation mark on the filler box - it usually translates to "don't touch touch it, or get it on your skin"? I recommend gloves. (If you love your labor, like it clearly looks like you do, it would be a shame to have to leave it at some point in the future due to rampant contact allergies or other exposure related illnesses...)
Very talented, love watching these repairs, class thank you
This is what I love about the UK, I,live near a small industrial estate in Glasgow and its full of people applying their trades in small units. Its fascinating just watching them.
Awesome boots and worthwhile sole upgrade!
I’ve a pair of tricker boots just like that 30 years old . I think I may have mine done
Excellent job!
Stitching machine is so cool. That creepy mannequin cobbler is a no for me lol. Wish we could see customer reaction. Amazing job. 💗💜💕
Hello from Belgium,

Great watching you work on the shoes. Could you do a video on what your equipment is and what it does for us geeks out there.

I didn't know about the existence of a cork filler. Why is it used in shoes/boots construction? What is it purpose? You are an incredible craftsman.
Must be Henry cavills brother 😂
ikr he looks like him 😩 super cute
Nice shoes, good job
Good job, God bless you...👍☘️
Really enjoyed this video..
Love these boots. Wish I could find ones with wide toe box.
Bad ass work I'm a shoe maker also only I make native american moccasins its time consuming as well
Timpsons are garbage, how much is a job like this, i have a few barkers that need doing
A tin-man oil can, and stitches and leather and lasts . . . oh my!
Hell yea I'm from Maryland baby
This guy definitely needs more subscribers! He is hot, looks neat n clean, is great at his job, n has a nice car!!! Big thumbs up!!!! Cheers from Mauritius 🇲🇺!!!!!!
What kind of car?
@@gabrieljohannson6777 looks to be a jaguar
Totally agree
Vid ideas....types of shoes, shoe materials, shoe terminology, parts of a shoe, cobbler tools and terminology, what is a well constructed shoe and what to look for, how to take care of materials, products and how to use them (my son has nubuck Timbs with a stain), most of us are without a clue, your skill and knowledge are what will create longevity for your channel. I truly want you to succeed in your RUclips endeavor. Gudonya!
Watching a craft's man at work is mesmerising - he is an excellent communicator and 'teacher' - his videos are excellent with a tinge of irony, humour and banter - works to keep his audience with him - great stuff and a great whistler!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
New subscriber here, enjoyed watching you doing the process👍👍
Just came across your channel, and couldn’t stop watching the fascinating videos. I live in Tring, and embarrassingly have to admit to not having used your services (yet!). I remember when your shop used to be a pharmacy/chemist, and you’re now providing ‘cures’ for footwear. So good to see a true artisan at work! Just one small aside, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen anyone put the milk in their coffee BEFORE putting the water in!😂
Hi welcome! Nice to have a local on the channel :)
Another great video Dan.
I like your sense of humour, You make me laugh.
Do you know what you have in common with a
Marie Callender's Cobbler coming out of the oven?
You are both HOT COBBLERS!
Jeff
I like the machine that stitches the shoe. It looks like a spider.
hunk hunk hunk!

I had these boots as a teenager in the 70s, I used to get them heeled and soled, this is the first time I actually realised what goes on, I love watching a good man at he's job, well done young sir.
Thanks man!
You're the sole reason I'm glued to this channel :)
Badumtish!
With so many men wearing athletic shoes these days, generally speaking, what is the average age of your customers who still prefer leather shoes?
Well I'm 37 and only wear R.M. Williams leather shoes, they last for years
@@flykintoun I've always envied men who have style, even though I"ve never had it!!
Leather man here with build up for added 80 mm
Add left and shave right. Leg length issues.
The colors, The stitching, The overall look of these shoes is EASILY one of my favorites. Beautiful work.
Fifty Shades of Shoes. NEVER expected shoe repair to be so sexy 😱. 👍

I've seen the day watching shoe repair vids would be a sad way to spend a Friday night... let's hear it for the lock down!...Off to see wheelwright now.

Happy New year man. Great channel nice variety of work 👍
:-) the sole happy face LOL
I love any content that shows fine craftsmanship like this. So nice to see.
Wont lie, im on a cobler binge for the past few days and worked my way through most of your videos! Good to see your sub count rising by the hour!
And subscribed... Cheers from a Baltimore Ravens fan! Great video and well done!
Brooo, you're Da Vinci for boots, I wish you, good health 🍀🍺👍🇷🇸
What gr8 work! I just enjoy watching you...as I’ve said I would like to get my Allen-Edmonds upgraded with HR soles..u; do fabulous work...my wife says hello too. Sorry this Yank is so far away!
Wow. His cutting tools are sharp...amazed they go through shoes like butter!
I never realized how well a sharp blade cuts until I went around someone who works with leather lol.
Well I just started fallowing this guy because he loves the Baltimore raven. Ever in Baltimore let me know.
cheers
Nice job! One question, is this a Goodyear construction? Thanks and regards from Spain.
What I’m doing here..... recommendation!!!! I never bring my shoes for repair. May be there’s no shoe repair in my area. But it’s interesting, really good and looks brand new. Fun to watch, with that accent and old neighborhood store. It’s in UK
Brilliant idea. I have those in black. Very comfortable boots but the leather soles wear out every two months. I think I’ve paid more for replacements by now than I did for the new boots!
I don't know anything about shoes but what I do know is a cute guy when I see one lol. Happy new year and have a wonderful year ahead ❤️
Dainite soles were made in Market Harborough, Leicestershire at the Harboro' Rubber Company's Dainite Mills, so called because they worked day and night = dai-nite. Production went to China, I think, a few years ago, as the old and new factories are both derelict.
Nice job! I have a very similar pair of boots, but mine are by Sanders, so they are better :-).
But they have a problem - in the rain, the uppers soak up water like a sponge. There isn't much point in Goodyear welting the soles if the uppers are as waterproof as a teabag.
Is there any preparation that I can apply that will improve water resistance without darkening the leather? I really don't want to spoil the gorgeous light "acorn" tan.
Or should I just wear them on sunny days? :-)
👢🤠 you the man you did that okay here in the United State of our beautiful beautiful beautiful✨❤🇺🇸 peace out okay do the doggone thing as we stay here it's when you good you got the hands man🤚
I had to give it a thumbs up because of the Sole Toons humor. 😀
Hi Dan, glad to have found your channel, thanks for putting in the effort to keep us informed and entertained, all the best
Just stumbled upon this page.... I suddenly want to ruin all of my shoes so can take them there..... 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
🤔
The options the cobbler can provide for the same old pair of shoes is really making me consider getting some Goodyear welded leather shoes.
I could watch this guy repair shoes all day
His arms is really good, awwww

We're are these guys in real life here amazing
I have a pair of fine blue suede brogue shoes with a chunky cream rubber sole. The sole has split right across at the ball of the foot on both feet as the shoes are 8 years old. My local cobbler said it would cost £80 to £90 to get a sole replacement for them. He didn't even entertain the idea of fixing the the sole with a adhesive sealant as a cheaper option. Do you accept shoes through the post to give repair evaluation?
I watch your videos only cause you're a hot and sweet guy 😍😍😍
I don't care about shoes repairs! Anyone on my case ?😁😂😂😂
no I'm just kidding! You look so talented and passioned on your job
Much love from Paris 🇲🇫
I have a pair of barkers very like these ones and have been considering a dainite sole too so this was (and I never thought I’d say this) actually really interesting.
Tbh i dont know how i stumbled on your channel but i absolutely love your work and skill! Keep it up awesome job man!
Yo! Just found your channel which is cool and all, but you're a Ravens' fan?! LETS FUCKING GO!!!!!
Boom!!! 🦅
Comedy and cobbling all in one. Nice! 😁
I actually laughed out loud when he said “ goddamn stitches “
Damn, looks like you’re gonna hit 20k by Wednesday lol that is awesome mate. So how about that Q&A? 😜 that idea got quite a few likes, just saying 🙃
You were whistling the theme to the 1973 animated Disney Robinhood theme song. I caught you. Is there somewhere I can contact you for business? Also that song probably is a real tune outside that movie, but I'm a Yank so I'm not familiar with it, but if it really was stuck in your head after watching it with you children then your stock is rising. Also love you videos....anyway I'm gonna try and see if I can find your shop online to see if I can find a email and if I do I will update this message so you don't have to fiddle with the damn thing. Matthew Lee
Hi matt! Best thing to do is message via the fb page 🙏
Great stuff, I was impressed with the stitching machine I went to get the other folks in the house to show them 😂👍
Can you show us how to fix a chain handle for a bag.igot valentino bag one month ago and the chain is broken.please
Sooo... to be honest... brought shoes to be repaired... probably because I always had sneakers and usually cheap ones...
But I have boots that i reeeaaally love, and they have a hole in the front where the rubber has a hole, and I wasn't sure if it can be repaired.
So 2 days ago I went to my local shoe repair shop and brought them. Let's see how they turn out. 50 Bucks (Swiss francs) isn't really much. But they used to cost around 199... so why not give it a try. I think most people (mostly younger folks) forget that you can save a lot of shoes, and it's not eve that expensive to have your shoes repaired rather than throw them away.
Any tips and advice what you can and can not repair?
Really handsome and nice body
