You did very well, I have kept clothes for my granddaughter who is 2, how sad is that….after this I will follow your example, however the Reiss sweater, don’t get rid of it, I bought some RIT dye, and it is so EASY to change the colour to whatever you want, I dye my cashmeres all the time….too good an item to pass along my dear. Many thanks for your inspiration, from Georgia in BC Canada
About the light gray jumper 70% wool 30% cashmere, since it is all natural fibers it can easily be dyed at home with a specific wool dye You can use a pot over your stove if heat is needed, and you should have a brand new item in no time
Such a helpful video! For the silk shirts, try them under a sweater instead of a cotton button down. That’s how I’ve been wearing mine to make them feel like everyday shirts.
I also like them to tuck into boots! I wear my black skinnies all the time as I think that silhouette comes in handy :) But I do prefer my straight leg denim 🤭
For me, They're for boots and they're the stretchiest so I like them for airport outfits. But if they came back in, I'll still just have my one or two because I'm older and wiser now and they're not proportionally flattering on my body. Same way young people who are jumping into wide leg jeans now (and throwing/cutting up their skinnies), may learn skinny/slim is better for their body as the trend goes on and the thrill wears off and they notice the style doesn't actually make them look their best.
Thanks for sharing, this is a very helpful video. Working with section piles. It is really an eye opener and I still recall the Forever21 period, so relatable 😅. Writing down or taking pictures from the pieces you love to wear everytime is a very good tip! Looking forward to your next video ❤
We all love Alison Bornstein’s styling. She is much younger, and cooler/more hip than me, but I still find her tips very useful. Most influencers I follow are, but that’s fine, they keep me up-to-date, as do my favorite brands. My style is very classic and a bit dressier than the average American’s (really only because I’m not a denim fan), and I’m 63, but I like to keep it modern, too. I didn’t know she had a book out, I’ll have to get it.
To style those silk shirts, just wear them as you would other, cotton shirts. With jeans, trousers, skirts, etc. The only difference is the fiber, which only you know. A tip that might help you for future silk purchases: a matte (like crepe de chine), or semi-matte (like habotai) weave makes silk look less “dressy” than a glossy, silk charmeuse. These might be easier for you to style. I often get compliments on my “polyester” or “satin” shirts, and just smile and say thanks, no one needs to know they’re silk. I’m allergic to synthetics, so I wear much more silk than any other fabric, it’s a spoiler, once you try it, you’ll never go back. It’s orders-of-magnitude more comfortable than anything else, and I never overheat in it either (not a problem at your age, but wait till your 50s, it will run your life, if not ruin it). Equipment makes lovely matte silk items, they’re one of my favorite brands. Reformation is good for habotai, but all their dresses are too skimpy and sexy, I buy their silk skirts, mostly.
The jeans ypu cut too short. I've made that mistake more than once 🤷 it was so satisfying seeing you getting rid of of so many items but also all the process of reconsidering. Very helpful!
Just a suggestion on the Karen Milan faux leather jacket - don’t take the panels off as you will see the stitch marks. What might be better is to take the bottom section off the jacket entirely - crop it to just above the pockets
Can you link the crewneck white tee you're wearing toward the end of the video? (And what size?) Around the 19 minute mark. I like the fit and neckline.
I will be putting them on Vinted or something similar (when I get round to it!!). Feel free to DM me on IG if there was anything you were interested in xx
Can you share the style name of that black silk shirt from equipment? I just love that style from your old videos lol if I can find one pre-loved I'd probably grab it! Thanks! Also what size is it?
I would resell any natural-fiber clothes in very good condition, and donate the other NOs, unless they have stains or rips. I just use ThredUp, their payouts are very low, but it’s the easiest. Where I live, San Francisco, all college students, female and male, only buy apparel secondhand, one will love that faded army jacket, etc. Secondhand is gaining popularity in all age groups, but I haven’t had any luck with it at all. Our local thrift store employees are mostly full-time resellers who have the pick of the donations, usually for free, before they ever reach the sales floor. What’s left is all polyester, low-quality, trendy teen items from 5-10 years ago, or more. Most of it is in very poor condition, too. I got tired of spending so many hours in those places and not finding anything at all.
Secondhand is being so life changing for me! I bought some nice 200€ booties for just 30€. Same with a beautiful looong navy coat, 100% wool (so new it has the pockets still closed with a stitch), and also I got a great burgundy leather jacket for 17€ (I think they mistaken it with a polyester one, otherwise I can't explain it to myself!).
I realize this is not helpful 😅but that leather Reiss jacket looks so cool! I love it! I went through my wardrobe with you and rehomed a few pieces with friends.
I suspect the fabric got ruined when the dry cleaner tried to remove the stain. He may have been afraid it was a pricey jacket and that you'd demand to be reimbursed, and the panels were his band-aid solution. Or he just thought he was being nice/helpful.
Maybe that V neck cardigan would go with the silk s.s. blouse? I think those colours suit you. And I would put them with the leopard print silk skirt.🤷🏻♀️
baggy/wide leg, barrel/horseshoe, and construction/cargo jeans. personally i don’t care for the barrel/horseshoe ones but love the other kinds. that being said i’m not sure of adeline’s preferences but i know a lot of minimalists prioritize classic yet comfortable silhouettes over trends, so i could see minimalists leaning towards a straight leg or trouser jean (basically wide leg but more tailored/dressy looking). meanwhile a lot of women don’t like skinny jeans anymore cause we wore them in our teens/early 20s and they were super uncomfortable lol
@@redesignedlife777 they cut off your circulation and if your knee or something stuck out of a hole it would feel like it was going to fall off! and jeggings were even worse omg
@@redesignedlife777 i don’t lol i hate em! but to answer your question leggings are a soft enough fabric that they have more give. personally leggings still make me feel constricted, but jeggings are literally bad for your circulation because they’re similarly tight but with a thicker/stiffer fabric that is less forgiving to your body-i remember reading news/medical articles discouraging people from wearing jeggings or skinny jeans every day so as not to harm their circulation 💀
I love Allison Bernstein. But, I feel like she hasn’t done a video in well over a year. Am I wrong?. I hope she’s still releasing new content. I don’t really do TikTok. So if it’s there, I haven’t been seeing it.
What the actual heck?! The panels are terrible! Why would they decide to make that kind of change without asking?! And taking them off would probably leave it in worst shape! I’m sorry. That’s a bummer

I am going to dye that sweater ♥️♥️
I appreciate your genuine thought process as you go through your closet editing. Very helpful!

Me, too, because they’re so comfy I wear them at home most days. Also, silk doesn’t need frequent washing or ironing, it’s so easy-care.🙂
Love that. I have tried pairing them with my denim and that seems to make them feel more everyday to me too x
I loved this Adeline. I also really appreciate your oratory style and voice which I find really relaxing.
Thank you ♥️🥰
Cinched in at the waist blazers seem to be everywhere right now. I hope you kept it :D
Definitely kept it, just need somewhere to wear it 😅
Even if skinnies come back in, I’m fairly certain I won’t be wearing them again. Slim leg is definitely an option!
I also like them to tuck into boots! I wear my black skinnies all the time as I think that silhouette comes in handy :)

I’ve always love skinnies.
Skinnies are so much more flattering anyway, they make our legs and butt look so good!! 🍑

Oh yes so much easier 😂
Looking forward to the next video of mixing in the How’s with the Regulars!

definitely keep the green skirt. All of your clothes seem real nice but basic, you need some fun pieces to mix it up. 😊🎉
That’s actually my goal this year 😂🙌🏼

You are really good at decluttering clothes.❤
I think you have to be in the right mindset to do it, well rested and well fed 🤭🤭♥️
Looking forward to part 3. I love your
Mum’s jacket. I hope you are able to style it.
Such a great one! It’s actually a little tight on me but it’s such a great piece I don’t want to part with it
I can’t wait to watch the part 3 video !

The spring green skirt with the gold top and a pair of gold sandals
I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE DRY CLEANER MODIFYING YOUR JACKET! hahaha oh my god!!
and I can't believe I paid for it 🥲

You could cut the white jeans into shorts x
I would if they were looser, but they are like skin tight on the waist, hips & thighs 😂
I find it so hard to let go of pieces that I spent good money on even though I don't wear them. Especially if I love the fabric.
