Same here, but I was already into G.F. Handel at age 9, early 70's, while everyone else preferred the latest sounds, (I wasn't a normal little boy) so when I heard this theme 10 years later, I thought it was hilarious! I enjoyed it every time. I couldn't twist with the show however, it was painfully boring. Columbo fan for sure. That's entertainment.
Aurelia Astrea me too with my mom I still watch it on Hallmark movies and mysteries channel and on Peacock. Ms Angela Lansbury "Jessica Fletcher" and Tom Bosley as Amos did outstanding.
12 seasons is an AMAZING run for any show but especially a show about an older woman in Maine who is a crime novelist and solves real l murders. Who would ever think that show would be so successful or make a mark on pop culture? It was a giant hit on CBS and owned Sunday nights for the 11 seasons they aired it but stupidly CBS moved it from it's perfect timeslot.

I knew about this show since I was a toddler and I still haven't seen it yet lol it's that iconic I guess. They're airing it on WGN in Janurary so I'm finally gonna check this show out
My late Grandmother: My late uncle: "Ain't no woman that damn smart." Grandmother: "Shut your mouth, Hayes." The point: don't screw with my grandmother's favorite TV programming.
My mom used to watch this show all the time when I was a little girl. All I remember from the show was the older woman starring in it and the intro song. Ahhh, memories. RIP mom. ❤️
OMG...theme song makes me remember those old days when my elder brother used to watch this drama series and i,as a kid used to enjoy the theme song.. golden days
@@justinquigley9739 The town where she lived was Mendocino, California. They filmed there because it resembles New England. With regards to the other comment, it was not the set of Jaws. That was filmed on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.
I used to watch this with my Pap! He'd always tease "There's Jessica riding that darn bicycle again! She should really get a car!" when the intro played. That used to make me laugh and laugh. I caught a re-run of the show on TV recently and I'm hooked all over again. Miss you Pap.
as a kid in germany this show used to air everyday at 8:15 pm after the children's program. every night that intro was the cue that i had to go to bed. never even watched the show.
Have you tried watching it now? I watched it as a middle schooler and enjoyed it. I'm 24 now and I'm trying to find a way to re-watch it. I know it's on Amazon but I don't have the money right now for subscription. sigh.
The theme was re-recorded for this season, 6, (1989), this time in stereo; it was re-recorded with a different, more "elegant" arrangement minus the tuba for season 8 onwards (1991).
my mom loves this show and she travels a lot so i'm often home alone. It was nice to be home alone, stay up however i want, eat whatever i want, could bring home mcdonalds without she yelling about the smell. As a child in the 80s, I was always enthralled by the powerful intro from Murder she wrote, RIP Angela Lansbury
Amen. I was going to write my own, and while I was not alive in the 1980s, I could not have put it better myself.
So, I let your comment stand for me.
