Forget about those shows (personally never got into them) Cheers is what you're missing. I've watched that show with my family and I have rewatched it again as an adult. So good.
Maybe, but it can also be seen as being portrayed as a bad thing that would drive someone to find a bar and drink, so maybe not quite ahead of it's time, but unless you're in Gary Portnoys head you can;t tell, i'd rather believe it was being ahead of his time, it's happier that way.
The mix in this version is sooo good. The way it used to be back then, high dynamic range, instruments have room to breathe, the chorus bangs. Not everything loud and crushed like they like to do today.
It's a really fantastic mix. I miss the days before the "Loudness Wars" too. A lot of it is FM radio's fault, ironically. But even when the show was on TV the theme didn't' sound this good. I can hear instruments here that I didn't' even know were on the track. Now it makes me want to go back and hear basically every TV theme as it was originally engineered, not as we got it on the tiny speakers of a CRT TV over a dodgy cable broadcast.
@@troy1993 adventure time is all about a group of friends trying to figure out who they are in. Strange world, sometimes they all connect and sometimes they don't but when they do there's always cheer. It feel like adventure time and cheers could be in the same fictional realm

From the U.K. here. I’m only two episodes in, and I’m loving the theme song. This show already perfectly showcases the comfort of a local hang out place. I’m sure I’m going to love this watch through.
This is part a sound track from a lot younger me. I;m 50 now and this brings a lot of emotion and memories back. My sister loved this show but not with us now, but still within me. How music can create such emotion. PGB
When I was a kid I used to LOVE Cheers. My mom was shocked the first time she heard me sing the theme song. I forgot all about this show until I was watching Adventure Time and Simon started singing it, I had to come back and listen to it.
Whoever is watching this I need you to know that my 12yo said, while hearing this song, "It sounds like Queen," and by god, I now cannot unhear this as very nearly almost being a Queen song.
Oh the 80s coming home to your mom watching her favorite shows , and pulling out all the brownies collected at school from my back bag. My dad reading his newspapers. This theme 🎵 brings it all back.
I'm only 17, so I can't really feel nostalgic about a 40 year old TV show that I'm only 5 or 6 episodes into, but somehow I do anyways. I'm nearing full-fledged adulthood, and Its really nice to be reminded of good times you spent with friends over the years. And to take a break from life from time to time to go to a place where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. This song helps me remember to appreciate friends and family, and as an old friend moved back to my area nearly a year ago now, I really began to think about the good times we've had and the bond we share as friends. Because of Cheers, I appreciate an old friendship more than I ever have, and something like that is priceless. Definitely watching all 11 seasons of this :)
I’m 39 weeks pregnant and every time I have a contraction this song comes in my head! It’s making me laugh so hard. Must be some security feeling from childhood.
I grew up watching Cheers with my dad and grandmother, so you can imagine how I felt when I was watching Adventure time with my little sons and Simon began singing the theme song
@@ilovemyevo556 LOL! I grew up in the 80's and you would always hear this song on t.v. It was impossible to never hear this song in America! My joke is a joke lost in time. 😊
AT a time when they were STILL writing theme songs AND gave them enough time to play out for at least 1 minute, 90 seconds if they were generous. Most theme songs now, if they have them, are instrumental-only.
Two universes, at the very least. One is the version of Ooo we see throughout most of Adventure Time, and the other known one is the Fionna and Cake universe, which resided in Simon's head. I don't know if any of the other Simons were familiar with Cheers, but it's possible.
adventure times universe was originally the same as our universe, but instead of peace, the nukes were dropped. Later on, the show's executives made some changes like the comets, but none of it was planned out.
@@ChiggerI'd imagine a lot of the wish-altered realities also had Cheers exist in their past, given that most of the universes we see in Fionna and Cake are from wishes changing events after Simon lives his life with Betty before the mushroom war (reality where all life is gone, reality where vampires rule the Earth, even Farmworld)
I think I honestly wanted to watch Cheers because of this song, it's one of the best TV show themes ever. I watched the whole show last year and it became one of my favorites immediately! Such a funny and amazing show.
this theme stands up there with that of Friends, Taxi, Happy Days, Fame, Dynasty... But I still think it is the nicest of them all for the feeling that it captures...
I miss watching the re-runs at 3am when I was 15 years old and everybody in the apartment were asleep. Damn 4 years have passed. I miss those simpler times.
This is so nostalgic. I was 16 when Cheers first aired, and I "became an adult" to this and Frasier. I still think there has never been anything better. I still remember watching the 200th episode special when it aired, and they played the entire song at the end of it. Before the song and highlight clips started, Ted Danson said "It's magical". He was right. Replace "Mr. Coffee" with "Keurig" and this song could have been written yesterday.
I dunno. After this Keurig dies, I'm going back to Mr. Coffee. They start dripping water randomly after a year. Visit your local thrift store to see all the Keurigs you can buy for a pittance.
It helps the leaking if you descale with vinegar, but yeah, mine does that. I kept my MisterC until the warmer plate got rust on it and it still worked fine. Should have kept it.
I heard this song a full 10 years before I ever actually saw Cheers. Hell I saw most of Frasier before I saw Cheers until a TV Channel I get finally started showing Cheers in syndication. Thank you for everything Adventure Time though, they make this song absolutely heartwrenching.
This made me cry omg the nostalgia attached to this piece of music is truly astounding and caught me completely off guard it instantly shot me right back to the early 80s when I was young and wild and beautiful so young and wild and free xxooo

It’s a song about a lot of things but neatly ties into fionna and cakes series themes of escapism
It starts with Simon and F&C feeling adrift in their own worlds, the song being associated with the minutiae of the familiar juxtapose with the fact that the characters ironically want to escape to some place better too
Only for it end with the triumphant clarity of them returning to their own worlds and fittingly finding peace in that boring old place where everyone knows her name

Here before Fionna and Cake this video was just reminising on a time most people didnt get to live with, very nostalgic. Im so happy that a new generation of people are getting to listen to this encouraging song!
Norm: Good morning everybody
All: Norm!!
Woody: Can I pour you a draft Mr. Peterson?
Norm: A little early isn’t it?
Woody: For beer?
Norm: No, for stupid questions.
😁💜
My fave Norm reply ever:
ALL: What are you up to, Norm?
NORM: My ideal weight, if I was 10 feet tall.
COACH: Hey Norm! What's shakin'?
Norm: All four cheeks and a couple of chins, Coach.
I'm so happy I came here to listen to this so, these comments are so hilarious 🤣.
Thank you everyone, I needed to laugh 😆
Stay safe and GOD bless > 🤙🏽

Sorry for your loss 💖
He’s in a better place now
Same, he loved this show and it’s all we could get back when Antenna tv was a thing. He passed from Covid back in January.
Watched it every morning during the UK lockdown with my dad. Also I hope you farther rests in peace 💚
So sorry for ur loss :(
Our days are the most supportive :)
Never watched the show but thanks to Adventure Time and especially the new Fionna and Cake series I can't get the intro out of my head.
As Betty would say it’s a experience
Dude you need to watch cheers
Forget about those shows (personally never got into them)
Cheers is what you're missing. I've watched that show with my family and I have rewatched it again as an adult. So good.
This is the perfect song to listen to when you’re losing your sanity to a magic crown.
"And your husband wants to be a girl". This song was ahead of it's time.
hahaha that what I thought I heard too!!! thanks
@@bheiselt i've never heard the lyrics fully.. untill well now... Neeb gaming loves this song! but wow!
Just ask Caitlyn Jenners wife.

14-year-old here. One day, I just decided to watch Cheers for some reason. Probably one of best life decisions, such a great show!
🔥
My high school played this song everyday in the morning over the speakers before first period lol.

My favorite scene in adventure time

This is funny! I grew up loving Cheers and I was recently rewatching adventure Time and that's what brought me here.

When I was a kid I used to LOVE Cheers. My mom was shocked the first time she heard me sing the theme song. I forgot all about this show until I was watching Adventure Time and Simon started singing it, I had to come back and listen to it.
I used to fall asleep to this everynight as a kid when my mom and older brother were watching it in the next room
Whoever is watching this I need you to know that my 12yo said, while hearing this song, "It sounds like Queen," and by god, I now cannot unhear this as very nearly almost being a Queen song.

I grew up with this song from "Cheers" and always loved it. Damn it's a solid song even without that.
The absolute most beautiful and heartfelt chorus that gets everyone to sing 🎶 I swear those were the days !❤️❤️❤️❤️

Still one of the best TV show theme songs ever written.
AT a time when they were STILL writing theme songs AND gave them enough time to play out for at least 1 minute, 90 seconds if they were generous.
Most theme songs now, if they have them, are instrumental-only.
AvengerII that’s not true. The majority of themes for tv dramas on channels like FX, HBO, Showtime are at least one minute and have lyrics
Funny how this sitcom exists in adventure time universe
Two universes, at the very least. One is the version of Ooo we see throughout most of Adventure Time, and the other known one is the Fionna and Cake universe, which resided in Simon's head.
I don't know if any of the other Simons were familiar with Cheers, but it's possible.
adventure times universe was originally the same as our universe, but instead of peace, the nukes were dropped. Later on, the show's executives made some changes like the comets, but none of it was planned out.
@@etchons bro everyone knows that at this point. I was refering how this sitcom (as a show) exists in the same adventure time (show) xd

They still sell Mr. Coffee pots, sir. I find that even more impressive. You don't have to change even a word and it still applies.
Cheers and Frasier stands above all sitcoms for me as well. Clever well thought out humor...not the shallow cheap laughs sitcoms go for today
I dunno. After this Keurig dies, I'm going back to Mr. Coffee. They start dripping water randomly after a year. Visit your local thrift store to see all the Keurigs you can buy for a pittance.
