Brings back memories of my childhood. My grandparents to use to watch this show every night after sending us kids to bed. I remember hearing the theme song from down the hall and would listen to it as I fell asleep.
I remember around the time the show ended in 1993 they did reruns around dinner time and my grandma used to have it on TV, my grandparents used to own a little deli/mini mart with a little TV and it would be on. I just remember the ending credits.
I was watching an episode where Simon sings it and my parents walked in while I was watching Adventure time and they were like "Why is the Cheers theme song playing?"

The A-Team, Knight Rider, Riptide, Hunter, Miami Vice, The Golden Girls, Hill Street Blues, Family Ties and Saturday Night Live also kept NBC alive and rescued them from failure in the 1980s. As far as comedy goes, NBC would have been unpopular if they had rejected Cheers!
What a beautiful song! I sure hope it doesnt have any tramautic implications for a man who was forced to spend thousands of years under the influence of a magical artifact that grants the user immortality at the price of their own sanity and sense of self
+Rish Fish Classic comedy...you guys missed ALOT!. I was in Boston many years ago at this no name bar and sitting across from me was a guy who reminded me so much of Cliff Claven I swore they based the character on him
+D. Belle Oh, seriously watch it. One of the best written sitcoms of all time, that's not a hyperbole. I was a kid when the show was on it's original run, so the jokes went right over my head. As an adult I watched the re-runs, and was blown away. There isn't a sitcom today that can touch it.

For many, it was characters like Norm, Frasier & Lilith that brought you here. And more recently, it was characters like Simon, Marceline & Fionna. Regardless of how you were introduced to this gem of a song, I think it’s pretty neat that it holds so much importance in two entirely different shows-decades apart!
True. But Fraiser hit on the changing times, it was a seamless transition from the 80's to the 90's with cheers and Fraiser. The other actors andactresses successes were directly tied to cheers. I love reading some of these comments! Literally took the words out my mouth. Ever since the show has been released on Hulu, I would literally only play the first episode just to hear the song. This is probably the most nostalgic song in history after seeing these comments! Someone said it makes them happy and sad at the same time! EXACTLY!!! It literally brings me back to my childhood years. Hearing this theme song come on at night, back when family was everything. Back when love was real. My dad is longer here , he passed away from cancer. Beautiful comment. This was my bedtime show as a kid, too, 5-6yo...sometimes I'd go to bed right after the intro song, sometimes I'd stay up and watch with them. They'd turn off the lights and we'd watch in the dark. I loved the song so much, even if I couldn't understand most of the comedy.
I never watched this show as a kid but saw these opening credits every day that signaled the end of the preschool age kid shows airing on that channel. Understanding these lyrics as an adult, I can see why this show is a classic. Today more than ever, I think we all need to take a break from the Internet and find a place like this to go once in a while.
When my dad passed away in 2019, we had a celebration of life at Everybody's, a sports bar up in my area. It was his, and my, favorite restaurant. I should've ended it with this song.
This lovely theme song touches the heart as it expresses a hidden desire that many of us didn't realize (or want to admit) that we have... It lightly touches that hidden sadness but, brings such joy to hear. I loved this song even as a young child. The lyrics, instrumentals and vocalist , together, create a song that's timeless. I love it!!!❤❤❤
Used to watch this and Hill street blues with my big brother, miss him and our nights watching tv. Would give anything to be that kid again. Go and listen to Hill Street blues too.
It's a good theme song but it sent me into a slight depression whenever I heard it as a kid. It's got a bit of the melancholy about it, especially when combined with those old photo stills
I know what you mean. I remember hearing this as a kid and it made me sad.. I was only about 7 yrs old but I was already wanting to go back to a simpler time.. if that makes any sense..
I loved this show as a kid and if you were born in the 80's-90's generation you should feel damn proud you saw shows like this coming up that were the best!!
When I was a kid I knew it was bedtime when this show came on. Yet I always knew the intro song because my dad would stay up and watch it. Now that I'm an adult I thought about the show and just finished the series on Netflix. It's an amazing, talented, and very well made show.
how old were you? I was 4 when the series ended but I remember the late afternoon reruns somewhere around that time. For me, the end of Jeopardy! signaled bedtime haha. God I wish I could've been an adult in the 80s.
I just want a place like this. Somewhere where I can be my own person. Where I can leave family problems, work, etc. at the door and just relax and truly be myself. I still haven't found a spot like that and at this point never will. But watching reruns of Cheers and even Frasier give me that little bit of a glimmer of happiness and for that I am eternally grateful
I remember one evening after dinner i happened to be flipping through channels and caught a glimpse of a Frasier episode. It caught my attention, started watching from the beginning then I learned that Frasier is actually a spinoff of Cheers. Then I proceeded to binge through both shows. By far my 2 favorite sitcoms
Still get goosebumps when I hear the theme tune from "Cheers" .. Friday nights at my gran n papas after collecting the paper money .. Chinese food, Cheers, Golden girls then Roseanne ., them were the days them were ❤️
We just went to the Cheers bar in Boston, and I stood on the corner and recorded a brief video clip that matched the very beginning of the Cheers theme from the show, including cars driving by. Brought back great memories from the show. It’s a shame the inside doesn’t look like the actual bar from the show, but my wife and I shared a couple of drinks, I got a Cheers mug and T-shirt while I was there.
The reason for that is that Fionna Campbell takes places in Simon's subconsciousnes. In Simon's real life (in Ooo) Cheers is the only sitcom he has available in his 20th Century Human Zoo.
I remember when I was a little kid in the early 90s I was in my room At night time this song was on the television I heard it from my room It took me to another place a special place in my heart
I remember I would always fall asleep to this song. My father would always watch it right around the time I would drift off to bed as a little kid. This song actually brings a comfort feeling.
When I was a kid, I watched this show in syndication after my parents went to bed at 1100pm on WPIX 11. I loved this show so much I actually moved to Boston as an adult and lived there for 9 years. Thank you gang at Cheers for inspiring a 7 year old boy to began his adult life in one of the best cities in the world!! Cheers!!!
Watching this brings back the memories of watching cheers every Sunday night, b4 I want to bed to go to school in he morning .... this intro will forever hold a special space in my heart
The song was perfect. Simon, a ordinary mortal, attempting to wield a powerful magical relic through sheer willpower. It showed that "making it in the world 'today' takes everything you got". As he fought, he knew he couldn't give into the crown and take "a break from all his worries". Sadly, for all his efforts, Simon was only human; he had forgotten Marcy's name as well as the final words of his song reminding us that he is drifting from his humanity "where everybody..."
When this show was on the air back during my teenage years in the 80's I thought it was okay but it was not one of my favorite shows. For some reason when I listen to the intro now it gives me chills and I think its the best theme song ever written. I'm not sure why it affects me that way now but I suppose the song takes me back to a better time in my life so many years ago. .
Here's a known facts about the opening credits: John Ratzenberger's picture is called "Saturday Night at a Saloon" by Russell Lee in Craigsville, MN Nick Colasanto's picture is the Horseshoe Saloon in Junction City, KS. The picture right after Ted Danson's and Shelley Long's picture from the 1-3 season is Rudy John's Barbershop in Junction City, KS
This is one of my favorite shows. Kirstie Alley was definitely a great actress in this show. She may be gone but the acting in shows and movies she left behind will be in fans’ hearts forever, myself included. She’s now with some of the shows members in Heaven R.I.P😔😇🙏❤️💐
One of the best theme tunes of all time. Amazing memories of being a kid, i used to ask my parents if i could stay up a little longer just for the theme tune.
Reminds me of the good old days before moving out of state. My cousin and I would go to Cattlemens restaurant and we could eat in the bar. We did this for over 30 years. Lots of ribs, ribeyes, filet mignon’s, Prime rib, seafood & salad. We ate like Kings. When we came through the Bar entry door, Bartender would start making our drinks as he already knew what they were. I would be the responsible one, never had a DUI or reason for one. Just great times with all the waitresses and good food . Every time I hear this cheers song, it reminds me. 🍽🍻☕️☺️
I remember watching reruns of this when I was 6 late night on Nick @ Nite and one picture that always struck me was the last bloke holding the beer and has that smirk on his face. It looks like he's enjoying life with his friends, with his beer, and having such a dandy time. That's always stuck with me because it used to air back in the 90s. Knowing that was how life was like in the early 1900s!!! Good memories :)
Never watched this show a day in my life, but I remember this intro from TV guide and it would wake me up late at night when I went to sleep with the TV on, this intro is so good and catchy ...

Still get goosebumps when I hear the theme tune from "Cheers" .. Friday nights at my gran n papas after collecting the paper money .. Chinese food, Cheers, Golden girls then Roseanne ., them were the days them were ❤️
what a wonderful life you lived.

Man does not get any better than this 40 years unreal very sad and happy to play this
We just went to the Cheers bar in Boston, and I stood on the corner and recorded a brief video clip that matched the very beginning of the Cheers theme from the show, including cars driving by. Brought back great memories from the show. It’s a shame the inside doesn’t look like the actual bar from the show, but my wife and I shared a couple of drinks, I got a Cheers mug and T-shirt while I was there.
I was born 4 years after this show ended, but watching it makes me feel nostalgic.
The Cheers Adventure Time cannon and it’s the only show on tv
It was canon a long time ago. In one of the episodes, Simon sings the intro.
The reason for that is that Fionna Campbell takes places in Simon's subconsciousnes. In Simon's real life (in Ooo) Cheers is the only sitcom he has available in his 20th Century Human Zoo.
The last guy they zoom in on is the iconic image of the show for me, plus the logo of course. Good show, always watchable.
I remember when I was a little kid in the early 90s I was in my room
At night time this song was on the television I heard it from my room
It took me to another place a special place in my heart
I remember watching this with my grandfather as a child growing up. It bought back memories of a point in time we shared. That we no longer share.
I remember I would always fall asleep to this song. My father would always watch it right around the time I would drift off to bed as a little kid. This song actually brings a comfort feeling.
This hits differently today.
Rest in Peace 🕊️ Sweet Princess May flights of Angels carry you to thy Rest 💜.

This song gets me all of the time! :(
SAME !
me too!
I feel like everyone can connect with this song. Whether being somewhere you’re generally accepted or a place where all your troubles go away.
R.I.P Kirstey Alley 😢
The feels I get from remembering as a kid when my parents put this show on during dinner.
The nostalgia when you heard this on the television before school.
Cheers!!!
What show was on at 10:30?
I'm not sure why it affects me that way now but I suppose the song takes me back to a better time in my life so many years ago. .
Here's a known facts about the opening credits:
John Ratzenberger's picture is called "Saturday Night at a Saloon" by Russell Lee in Craigsville, MN
Nick Colasanto's picture is the Horseshoe Saloon in Junction City, KS.
The picture right after Ted Danson's and Shelley Long's picture from the 1-3 season is Rudy John's Barbershop in Junction City, KS
Love this song. Brings back so many memories.
Simon Petrikov
The perfect theme song. Its why people go to their spot. Familiarity and comfort. Not family but more than friends. A place you matter.
This song gives me goosebumps
This is one of my favorite shows. Kirstie Alley was definitely a great actress in this show. She may be gone but the acting in shows and movies she left behind will be in fans’ hearts forever, myself included. She’s now with some of the shows members in Heaven
R.I.P😔😇🙏❤️💐
One of the best theme tunes of all time. Amazing memories of being a kid, i used to ask my parents if i could stay up a little longer just for the theme tune.
A great song for a legendary tv show.
The one show from the 80s that belongs in the conversation for greatest show ever.
This reminds me when I was 3 or 4 living with my grandma at her house 😭
One of the greatest comedies ever made, and one of the most evocative and nostalgic theme tunes ever written.
Classic!! Loved this part of my childhood!
I didn't realize Cheers was real
Never watched this show a day in my life, but I remember this intro from TV guide and it would wake me up late at night when I went to sleep with the TV on, this intro is so good and catchy ...
Nothing beats a Classic Shows. ESPECIALLY. When watching your Favorite Ones since the Beginning
This intro always stuck out to me as a kid.
The last episode of fiona and cake is called Cheers im in despair
What is Fiona and cake?
"Making your way in the world today takes EVERYTHING you've got..."
That makes MOST of us for sure!
Best theme song and among the best TV shows ever made.
This song makes an entirely seperate fandom nostalgic, which is honestly very impressive
I am today years old when I finally figured out that Simon was singing this to Marceline
THATS WHY IM HERE 😂😂😭
