That's what I was thinking when I saw it. I was expecting the black duck to be one of Hitler's accomplices, but then he came out with an Italian accent.
True that. Mussolini became dictator of Italy in '22, 11 years before Hitler and the nazi party came to power in Germany. Facist Italy invaded Ethiopia in '35, 4 years before Hitler invaded Poland and started WWII. Not to mention Japan started attacks in China in '31, so one might say WWII started in '37 for Japan.
He learned from a lot of people. He just had his own plans after they lost ww1. He blamed the jews. He started the war early knowing Mussolini was finished a war with Ethiopia. He went behind his back and invaded Poland. He was not prepared for ww2 after just signing a pack with Hitler weeks before. So he needed the Germans. Makes him seem like the weaker duck cause he was.

What did that mean
@@soundpowerd2196 apoligy to the nice germans and italians in the audiencr
It's more mature than some people nowadays who just tend to generalize the actions of an individual and say they apply to an entire group
@@soundpowerd2196 The US at this time was (and today still is) made up of millions of ethnic Germans and Italians (which along with English all made up the majority of the American population).
Back then a lot of these Germans and Italians, although American, still spoke their native tongue (as well as English) and largely identified as well... Germans and Italians. So by apologizing to the "nice ducks and geese" in the audience, there were in effect saying "we understand not all of you are bad".
The irony of Americas involvement in WW2 is that many (if not most) of those Americans who fought against Germany and Italy were Germans and Italians themselves.

@@customerservice1323 Do note that this *was* for kids... Wartime propaganda was meant to both rile adults to fight or participate, and encourage kids on the favours of the "good-guys." The cartoon portrayed the Nazi Germans as crazy, the Blackshirt Italians as incompetent, and the Imperial Japanese as rather pathetic: it gave us a more era-appropriate way to show the children of the American generation the war without actually showing... Ya know. War? It was a simpler time. A time where one could show the symbol of a Nazi's Swastika or SS and get a laugh or two at their failure - or be filled with a violent rage against all of their numerous crimes against humanity. Actually Hitler learned from Mussolini.
@@Who_Am_I_d.i.y.ryanpanana1349 Italy was not ready for a war of that caliber, they only really started making progress in Ethiopia’s treacherous mountains after they started using gas bombs. Italy needed Germany and Germany needed allies.

Funny and controversial
Why?
@@fetihsungur1064 Why are they controversial? In part because they lean heavily on some racist stereotypes and in part because stretching the truth, even in a comic setting, to promote an agenda- particularly a war- is often seen as dancing on a fine line morally speaking, if not outright immoral, particularly when The Powers That Be are the ones doing or supporting it.
@@willieoelkers5568 so what if your at war you're not going to make them seem powerful.
