Such a seamless job of editing the group's hits together . . . This show (then a dozen years old) came on TV again in the early 80's, when Michael got popular on his own. Looking back, it's amazing how much this show taught me about the group, during the opening credits alone!
The show ran on ABC on Saturday Mornings from 1971 to 1973. Jackson 5ive then ran in syndication for a number of years afterward. In the spring of 1984, when Michael Jackson's solo career skyrocketed, after he became popular after his solo album Thriller, the show was brought back in reruns on Saturday and Sunday Mornings on local stations through Worldvision Enterprises for about 1 year until September 1985. Then it went back to TV very briefly in 1989-1990 and again in 1999.
I definitely remember this cartoon as a kid. I only watched it because I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson. I was more into Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Droopy & Under Dog.
I vaguely remember watching and enjoying that cartoon series on Saturday morning TV when it was originally broadcast in the UK during the early 1970s. It was great to see the opening and closing titles of it again after all these years and is obviously very nostalgic for me. So thanks for uploading them.
I was around 6 in 1971 and I remember this show fondly. The minute it the opening started I went back 40+ years and just let it all come back. Thanks so much for posting all this old greatness in a day and age of a cartoon cultural wasteland. Cheers!
I was four years old in 1971. I loved the Jackson 5ive. I don't how or why but for some reason I got in my head that they(J5) were about my age, when their youngest member was nearly 10 years older????
Yes, I do remember this show very well, and it used to be broadcast on Saturday mornings in the UK in 1972 or 1973, as far as I remember and probably around at 10:30 am, and still brings me back memories of and my late brother Nick, who likes soul music, so I dedicated to him so much and sadly missed.
I'm so old I can remember the J5 cartoon, the Osmond Bros cartoon, and even the Beatles cartoon. The late 60's/early 70's was a great time to be a kid. Saturday morning cartoons and a bowl of froot loops cereal ❤❤

Local station WTTG channel 5 (Now FOX5) broadcast the reruns of this show in the fall of 1976 at 10am on Saturday mornings for a full hour that's was my introduction to the Jackson 5 I was 6 years old.
I feel like my mind is quite sincerely blown, because i had no idea there is a Jackson 5 cartoon! I'm pretty surprised niether of my parents wver told me about this, they both grew up in the 60's. In any case, i have subscribed and cant wait to check out more about this show!
Very likely re-recorded live in the studio based on the same tempo used throughout, same instrumentation, same mix, and cold ending rather than a fadeout.
First this came out in The Fall of 1971.Then was played back to back with the Osmonds Show starting in the fall of 1972.So it had flare for lasting a 2nd season in reruns whether or not back to back with The Osmonds?
Us fans of MJ let's let him rest in peace, he was with us in the 1900s and he was popular around the world making people get interested by him and as for us he will always be in our hearts and always be in the world, goodbye Michael Jackson 1958-2009
This stuff was entertaining in its time. There was still some measure of etiquette common to the working class inherit from the age of world war two inculcated at that time. Today you would not notice because the changes have been slow and gradual. If you were to time-leap to that era, you would notice everyone behaves like they are in church,
The Jacksons did sing the cartoon intro specifically for the show in addition to contributing the photos for the intro but other than that they didn't have much involvement with it
@@MRNGrandpere that is correct actually a member of another group that was a family act the Silvyers(spelling could be off) can't recall his name but he was MJ's voice
How could you not love a Jacksons hit repurposed into the theme? Such talent. I have zero memories of the show but can't forget the theme song.
This gotta be one of the best cartoon intros ever, very catchy

In fact it was launched in the early 1970s.

Little Known Fact: The late Edmund Sylvers from the 70s family R & B group The Sylvers was the cartoon voice of "Marlon".

Oh God... It's been 32 years since I watched this.
exactly the same, in a little town in Italy in the middle of nowhere. I remember this so well
I'm watching these joints RIGHT NOW!! Watched it in the 70s as a child. I'm 54. Never too old for the J5

I turned six in 1971
Apparently the current decade of cartoons is worse than the 70s? Are you sure you aren’t just blinded by nostalgia?
That nostalgia just punched me in the back of the head

The old Motown symbol STILL gives me goosebumps to this day.
Me too! It's a shame Rankin/Bass didn't put their logo music at the end also. We would have had two cool logos at the end!!

Me too and Tito is my favourite character in this Jackson 5 cartoon
Saturday morning cartoons in the 70's were the best ever!
RIP Tito Jackson (1953-2024).
At least Rankin Bass gave them credit for provided their songs to be used in the series.
They had to get permission from and also they were in conjunction with Motown Records
RIP Michael Jackson and Tito Jackson
Maaan I wasn't even born in that time but my mom told me about this and I loooooove it I guess cause I have a old soul
Perfect melody
A motown produced medley that came out perfect

When he started singing to that rat. We knew something was wrong.❤😂.
R.I.P. Brother Tito.
The Jackson Five cartoon followed by Lancelot Link Secret Chimp! That was one damn good day.
Those were some great times.
I was disappointed to find out that the Jacksons didn't provide the voices for their cartoon. The Osmonds did the voices on their cartoon.
smh you should be disappointed because someone lied to you.
I remember watching the Jackson's variety show in 1977 and being disappointed that their voices didn't match the cartoon
J5 was busier than Osmonds
They were busy recording, touring, and appearing on television.
bcrkris But in the Jackson 5ive Cartoon, they did have Diana Ross.
0:39 that face is so derpy
Every rapper has sampled the jacksons

The Beatles had their own cartoon.
