  • In this video I showed the steps and procedures necessary to replace the rear shocks on a 2015 newer Ford F150. The vehicle we are working on in this video is a 2015 F150 XL 2wd. The truck has about 120,000 miles and the rear of the vehicle is a bit bouncy and feels unstable whenever a load is in the bed or whenever going over any speed bumps. The job of a shock absorber is too dampen spring oscillations from the leaf springs. When the shock absorbers go bad, the vehicle bounces kind of like a boat in water. Also, whenever shock absorbers go bad they can leak oil out of the seals giving a wet like appearance on the lower half of the shock tube. Below are links in the description for parts and tools are used in this video. Thank you for watching

I followed your video and replaced the rear shocks on my 2019 f150 and it was a breeze! I didn't have to jack up the truck or take the wheels off it was fantastic!

You can do this with the truck and everything on the ground?

Installed rear shocks on my F150 yesterday. This video provided great guidance. I wasn’t quick enough at not allowing the expansion to escape me so that process was tedious but the job was accomplished. Thanks again.

Thanks for the concise, helpful video.
Why the weird bolt on the driver's side, with the flange/wing? Seems like there was plenty of space between the bolt & bracket for a regular nut/wrench. Threw me for a loop - wasn't expecting it.

Thanks for the video time. A couple of thoughts... good timing to get the bolt in the hold while the shock is expanding., how many foot pounds of torque on that wrench? Easier access with the wheel off, if you leave it on the new shock is a direct fit while the retention bands are still on the shock.

Need to see the jacking points or can you change the shocks by jacking the axel , I assume that the jack has to lift the frame to relieve the suspension?

Great video. However, It is my understanding that shocks should be compressed and released several times to activate the gases inside. Is this not required?

2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive call for different part numbers for rear shocks.
Also never tighten down the shocks vehicle is on the ground and at ride height.
