Numbness and burning sensation in quad getting worse for years. Saw the doc without any relief. Walk 2.5 miles a day and it always starts to burn/tingle/numb-up after about 1.75 miles. Tried the 3rd stretch and I could really feel the tightness. Did for 3 days. OK the first during my walk but problem after going to bed. Yesterday and today NO PAIN during my walk and I'm getting ready to go to bed. Wish me luck. Thank you so much Bob and Brad. Used to work on a fishing resort as a boy up in Aitkin Minnesota - near Brainard and Mil Lacs. You two are so Minnesotan!
UPDATE: 2 weeks later: NO PAIN - can walk 3 miles and no burning or tingling. Stretch it every morning and it is feeling wonderful.

My right thigh has been numb 15 years, my doctor told me it was MS. Luckily I didn't believe him but had no answers. About 8 years ago I stumbled across a couple of paragraphs in a medical journal online that gave the term Meralgia Parasthetica and gave surgery as the only treatment option. Last year it really started flaring with shooting nerve pain that woke me at night and I couldn't walk more than 10 minutes, causing severe quality of life loss. I went to a chiropractor and x-rays showed my hips are substantially tilted, certainly causing the pinch. The most important thing for me was to realize my recliner was causing the flare up so now it's just numb again. I'm happy to see this condition finally seeing the light of day and thank you for the exercises. I will be trying them.

I wish I had known earlier that others had experienced this sensation of water. Years ago, I carefully described this sensation to my neurologist. When I finally quit going to her, I read my files and saw that she had repeatedly summed up my symptoms as "patient reports feeling bugs crawling on her body". I never once mentioned bugs. Needless to say, I didn't get any help from her. So glad I now have the two of you. Thank you!

After a year of PT i still had nerve pain down the side of my leg and sometimes both legs. Since I'd already been doing the press ups, I added the hip flexor stretches and it has solved the problem. Id been suffering from progressively worse symptoms for probably 7 years. The hip flexor stretch took about 2 months before it helped the pain. So glad i stuck with it. I find doing this twice a day works well for me.

I've had first upper thigh pain, discomfort, cramping, which was at first localized, about 3 weeks ago. That pain was so intense I rushed to the hospital. To now having almost no pain in that area and now it's a pain but not as intense all around the shin. This is 3 weeks later after having had a back injury at the gym. This pain and discomfort is aggravated more when I try to walk. I try to walk as much as I can even after the discomfort shows up. This **** is so awkward and it makes no sense. I don't have Healthcare so I'm pretty much left on my own to try and figure this out. Anyway, I'm trying these maneuvers and no joke, I felt cold tingling, it didn't feel bad, after I was done doing them. I hope that is a good thing.

Your videos are extremely helpful. Throughout the month and change that I experienced severe pain, I started with two trips to the hospital , where they just gave me drugs. I’m not a big fan of drugs, so I turned to Dr. Internet, and there have been a few great physical therapists, but you guys cover the most ground. I also started going to a massage therapist and bought a foam roller, both of which have been massively helpful.
getting better little by little. It seems it was a few different problems stemming from being hit by a car years ago, but also the inactivity during the pandemic. Normally I’m very active, cycling, hiking, all sorts of festivals, but over the past year I barely even worked at all-I’m a film and television actor, which is not a sit down job.
Anyway, following your self treatment advice as well as working on basic fitness, I think I’m solving issues that were longstanding beyond my current pain.
One funny bit. I actually used my 🎸 Stratocaster for self massage of the pain in my thigh. You should definitely add a solid body guitar to your arsenal of physical therapy tools. It works!

Back when I was in high school, one day suddenly I couldn't step on my left leg. There was a sharp sting in my left inner thigh every time I did so. It was fixed by visiting a medical massage therapist, but that incident kinda left a permanent trace. I'm 30 now but even now if I sit or lie down in a position that puts a strain on my left leg for too long, that sharp sting returns.

That’s what I have. It’s more of an electric shock for a few seconds in the inner left thigh. It started after I tripped over a street pavement and fell hard on both knees. Staying hydrated helps and taking Vitamin D and B12 supplements.

@@bnha I’m so sorry you’re going through it. Have you looked into CBD oil? I’ve been taking CBD tea lately. You can get it at any health food store or pharmacy. It really relieves my femoral nerve pain. I wouldn’t drink it every day though. Because just like antibodies if you rely on it too much, it will stop working. Also check your diet. Find out what food causes your nerve pain. I’ve been taking vitamin D and B12 supplements and it helps. Drink plenty of water which is vital. I sometimes have a glass of lemon water in the morning and a shot of Bragg apple cider vinegar. Exercise also helps relieve nerve pain. Walking is good and it’s free. I also got into rebounding. I bought myself a mini trampoline and just bounce for 5-10 minutes daily. It stimulates the lymphatic system and works my muscles. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Thankful I stumbled on this. I hurt my back that has grown to include my hip and down the front of my thigh to my knee. Walking was incredibly painful. After the second stretch... The radiating pain down my hip was cut in half when I walked. Thank you! I'll keep doing it while I figure out what the problem is with my back.

Magnesium citrate has worked wonders for my pain...it's available in health shops. Simply dissolve one teaspoon in an inch of boiled water in a small cup and add cold water to drink.

UPDATE: Went to the orthopedic and they said I had Trochanteric Bursitis, which is essentially inflammation. They prescribed me Naproxen (Aleve) to be taken once a day for 10 days. After the 3rd day it went away!
Im having pain in that exact spot, but that spot only. It doesn't shoot down my leg or to my foot. Best way I can explain it, is it feels like a bruise. I randomly get it every few months and it's either on the right or left leg. It usually last a couple days, However its been a week & it hurts when i walk, but feels good when i stretch. One time I even got acupuncture and it felt like it worked. This whole week, I've been putting icyhot, bengay, etc and still have the pain :(

I have the same as you, feels like a big bruise from my buttocks to my right thigh, and could not walk. 3 days now so I started loking in the internet. I tried these exercises but could not do them well as each little movement change would give me a sharp pain and I could not have control of my right leg. From reading your comment, I started taking Advil (which is anti-inflammatory drug) since I don't have Aleve handy, and rubbed this anti-inflammatory gel called "Voltarene 1% Emulgel" I found in my medecine cabinet, on the painful area and someone else suggested to drink 8oz water mixed with 2 TBS of Aplle Cider Vinegar before bed, so I did that too. When I woke up today, I finally had control of my leg again. So thank you for sharing your experience, Anzee.

I had a hip replacement about 15 months ago and recently have had random thigh pain (front and outer) and weakness in leg. It was enhanced and more frequent after starting a walking program. Went to an ortho doc who said he thought it was nerve pain as my hip replacement looks fine. Wants me to go to a pain management clinic so I made an appt.
Last night after walking a good distance to/from a baseball field my thigh pain was awful. I made the mistake of doing an IT band stretch while crossing my bad leg over my good and pulling into my chest. This morning it was so much worse.
Anyway watching this if it’s my femoral nerve that makes sense as I was pulling that area in instead of stretching it out. Tried these and felt much better. Especially the first one. Thank you!!!

Can u imagine waking up in the middle of the night searching for the way to stop this pain cause it can't let me sleep. So I take pain killers to reduce the pain but as soon as the tablets wear off the pain comes back too painful than before. And it's almost a week now. Thank you

Thank you for the "differential diagnosis." I am now sure I have meralgia paresthetica. Unfortunately I can't do any of your exercises due to postop THR restrictions but I will be discussing this with my PT to see if there's anything I can do until I don't have to sleep on my back anymore (that's the only time I have symptoms).

After taking a crapper I got up and started feeling intense pain from my upper thigh all the way down to my foot. The pain was only in the front side. I lost strength in my knee and can’t fully stand on that leg, otherwise I’ll hit the floor. The odd thing is that as soon as the pain subsided, that’s when my leg started to feel numb and weak. I’ve been like this for 3 days already. I’ll try the exercises and will come back to update progress.

These made me feel pretty good after. I will keep it up and see if it helps my nerves. I had a fall on the steps a month ago and landed about on that vertebrae you pointed to. Right on the nose of my steps. I am 33 and healed pretty quickly. I have had light but annoying pins and needles in my legs at night, as well as my ulnar nerve. Both on the left side. My chiropractor was able to fix the ulnar pretty quick. But just today, all day, I have had shoots of sharp-ish pain from around the top left side of my knee to mid way up the side of my thigh. At random times with no real triggers.
This seems to be helping, so far so good.
