This is totally incredible. I would almost call it miracle like. I had pain for WEEKS and finally figured out what it was, a femoral nerve that must have been pinched. I started YESTERDAY with the exercises and today I have almost total relief! Thank you so much for the great information! You both may or may not be the most famous PTs, but you are definitely a lifesaver!
I have had femoral nerve pain on and off for years. I used you sketches for the first time and it almost completely went away. I'm a carpenter and have been hobbling around so this has been a game changer .Thank you
I have sciatica and feminal nerve pain, I went to doctors for years and they just ignored me. Now my pain is so bad I can hardly walk luckily I have found new doctors that are trying to work with me waiting on appointment is excruciating.
I understand you Dianne. Most doctors will never listen deeply t the patient symptoms and find a way t help which is why we consult with them. Yourre in my prayers for God and also Padre Pio to heal you and all of us COMPLETELY. 🙏
Only through this video I found out that what I had wasn't sciatica, it was femoral pain. I did not understand why I didn't have common symptoms of sciatica, because it was in my hip, shin and front of leg. I know this was made 4 years ago but you really made a difference. I have a feeling I have more than just femoral nerve pain but you know what I believe in natural remedies. THANK YOU
I also get these symptoms in the front of my leg. It’s mainly my entire right side really… when I walk for too long say maybe 10-15 mins my entire front right leg will become numb from the knee up. I’ll get extremely sharp pains in the bottom of my knees and sharp pains in my shins. And these are both legs. I just get numb in my right leg but my left leg also has all of the other symptoms. I’m only 21 and I feel like I shouldn’t be having these symptoms yet. The pain and immobility has increased over the past few years. I’ve been told many different things by many different doctors and I’m just so unsure what it could be 😭
You guys are the best! I’m a 59 yr old Zumba instructor and you make it possible for me to work through my injuries and continue to do my class. God send! God bless you both!
I've been suffering from the past 10yrs. I consulted many doctors & did MRI test, x ray scan multiple times. Doctors couldn't find any fault & every time they would prescribe pain killers or vitamin D capsules. Which never helped me. In recent years I came to know about sciatica nerve pain & got confused my condition with that. I suffered all day n night with this unbearable pain. Hope these exercises are the woy to heal it. Thanks so much for this video. 🙏💝💝💝💝💝
You guys nailed it! You absolutely described my femeral nerve pain, I have all those symptoms. My GP called it sciatica and when I suggested it might be femeral nerve pain he said "Well we use 'sciatica' to generically describe back pain - so it could be sciatic nerve or it could be femeral nerve". That's what we get in Canada - that's the 5 minute diagnosis where you have to travel almost 2 hours, wait 3 to 5 hours and get a "generic" back pain diagnosis + pain meds. That's it. C'est la vie en Canada. At least now I have a treatment plan from various sources - you guys are one of them + an online physio and possibly + local physiotherapist. It was extremely painful at first but after 3 weeks I am surprised at how much self-healing is going on, with very little stretches or nerve flossing but am doing all these things daily now. A heat pad helps a lot as well but it's still numb on the inside/front thigh, travelling through the groin.
thank you so much! I had this unbearable pain suddenly happen 3 days ago. I spent two days in bed and using heat on it. Today i can get out of bed on my own and walk without pulling up on my pantleg as a sling to move the leg. These three simple exercises are so helpful and heartening.I just did all 3 and the foot pull, head drop seemed to have the most noticeable effect. I have been lax about my yoga practice for a while and now I'm committed to get back at it.
I have seen several ortho doctors and physical therapists since 2015 and they missed my femoral nerve as the cause. I had tremendous pain when sitting, radiating in my thighs to the top of my knees. Thank you so much!!!
I have femoral nerve pain. It made me feel better to even see a video addressing it and the differences between sciatica and f.n pain. I learned something from your video. Thanks for making it.
You guys were just about to go in to how to figure out if it's from muscular hip impingement or a herniated disc, and then you stopped and went in a different direction. How do you tell? It's clear to me I have this, but knowing the source would be golden... I wish that one guy had not interrupted and taken it in a different direction because that would have been a real diamond for me.
OMG! So the femoral nerve is what I've suffered with for the last ten months! About two weeks post op, I developed EXTREME nerve tingling running down the front of my right leg - it felt like an electrical, a strong electrical shock ! I also started having vertigo and incontinence issues at the same time. The doctor sent me for an MRI and referred me to a spine clinic where they also had me get two more MRI's and nerve tests on my hands. Carpel tunnel on both wrists AND a slipped disc. The choices I was given were to have surgery or they could send me for ONE physical therapy visit. Then Covid 19 happened. No physical therapy. I was so close! In the last month (July 2020) it has gradually decreased. Now I get tingling in random areas of my leg which includes my foot. Thank God for RUclips . I've done a lot of searching and stretching which I have to say, thanks to both of you and RUclips.
@@laurafraser-graham4345 I wonder why it takes years. 😔 People over age 65 can go directly to a neurologist if it is debilitating, like hard to walk or tolerate. Let us know how your scan went.

I commented on this video about a month ago, and I wanted to give an update in case it helps anyone here. I started doing deep tissue massage on my back and legs. My testicle pain has improved a lot…I have no words. For the past week I’ve had very minimum pain in my groin and testicles. My inner thighs still hurts, but much less. Please consider this option as one of the possible treatments you can try. I hope that helps.
I, too, have a femoral pain with pings and tingles and sometimes it hurts in the front of hip area.. these stretches help so much.. Never stand on a ladder twisted painting a ceiling.. that's what happened to me... ouch 2 years now and still have issues from sitting too long... front thigh area mostly...
Wow. My problems started in the same way, painting stand on a ladder. At the beggining I felt a weakness in my left calves. With the time the pain inscreased until been unbearable. After I startedto feel a fire in the internal part of my leg, finnaly my femoral start to feel numb, specially after get out of my car. After the first two or thre steps can´t extend completely the leg and started with difficulty to walk. The streeching excercies has give to me a new posibility. I do them three times at day.
Bingo! This is my newest issue! Pain started about 10 days ago. I didn't want to see my doctor over something minor, so as I typically do, I come to Bob & Brad for suggestions and ideas. Femoral nerve pain it it! I'll follow these two stretches for a few weeks and see how it feels. With (right) hemiplegia I always seem to have one issue or another with that side. I also have peroneal nerve issues, (that I had discovered here) and my physical therapist helped me a ton! Frustrating, but I just do what I have to do. Thanks for keeping us all on track with fitness.
WOW! I never heard of femoral nerve pain. Figured it was sciatica and have been following your sciatica program. It’s helped immensely, knowing mine is a femoral issue helps with focused exercises It’s definitely femoral! Thank you, thank you! Greatly appreciate your videos.
I can't wait to try these stretches! I believe a lot of my left leg pain and weakness issues are due to my femoral nerve. the pain wraps around my hip and then sometimes moves down to my knee. I do chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis and have recently incorporated acupuncture, but neither is giving me lasting relief. My hope is that my issue is the hip flexor and not a bulging disc! So glad to have found this video this evening...thank you!
I have had trouble walking for the past 24 hours. I did the press-ups. INSTANT RELIEF!! I'm still sore. It's not 100%. But ... WOW!! So much better with that very simple exercise. Thank you one million times!
I get this intermittently (several years). Recently getting similar in right leg. Just tried those last 2 Bob did and am finding some instant relief. Big THANKS from me. Will keep doing everyday and see how it goes. I actually thought I had Sciatica, so getting this clarification is enormously helpful.
Yep it’s sucks I’ve had sciatica since I was about 16 but this is new I’ve only had the meralgia parasthetica for about 4 months now but it’s severe for some damn reason…getting an MRI today or tomorrow though so wish me luck! I had a really bad brown recluse bite that destroyed the nerve in my inner lower right leg 2 years ago so that’s my only concern is if the 2 connect cause the spider bite has screwed up my lower leg and now this is screwing up the upper part lol

Been struggling with this for a while. Was just diagnosed (will copy my MRI findings on L4. I have 5 bulged discuss protrusions L1-L5 and this diagnosis on L4: “Broad-based annular disc bulge with a left paracentral disc protrusion. Disc extends within the left anterolateral recess adjacent to the anterior L4 nerve roots. Severe facet arthropathy right greater than left” It’s my left leg. Thought I had a quad tear for 6 months. Pain centralizes on my quad (feels like a knot) and shoots to the right interior knee down the shin. I can walk maybe 30 seconds and the quad is burning on fire. This video is right on the money. Having the right diagnosis is critical but these guys are spot on.
This was super helpful. I’ve dealt with sciatica most of my life. I know what that pain feels like. For me it’s my right side and the pain travels from my lower back, down my right leg, and often wraps around to the front of the leg to the place where there are tendons on my front ankle. Deep massage in that place that feels like “between the tendons” of my front right angel. Pain and tightness, no numbness. I cane to this video for a new reason. Quickly when I get into bed, my outer right thigh starts going numb to the point if I touch it i feel pressure but not actual touch. Recently in my sleep i unknowingly move positions, waking on my back and feeling like my outer right thigh just above the knee is numb. E.g. I can scratch that area and feel pressure but nothing on the surface. In the last week I experienced twice upon waking a numb thigh but when I go to move it or have muscle exertion on it (think using leg pressure to sit up upon waking) the skin on my outer right thigh feels tight and numb (like tying a rubber band on your finger till it swells, turns blue, and gets numb). I get up, stand on my right light, and activating my quad causes a HORRIBLY INTENSE burning sensation. Literally? It feels like someone is using a blow torch on that area. The more I awake, it lessens but anything brushing on that part of my thigh burns like fire to my skin. Sometimes when I move that leg, say sitting cross legged, I feel a “surface pop” which takes my breath away and the burning feeling increases. Even water from the shower head hurt. I’m scared to move and scared to sleep bc today for instance I woke up screaming and whincing in pain. Massage doesn’t help nor does foam rolling. That part of my right outer thigh feels so sensitive and the slightest pressure brings on the burning sensation. At this point idk what is causing it. I learned this specific area can be cause from the femoral nerve being compressed. Strange for most days in the last year I have this (what I can be describe as) grow pain (on the right) where twisting my leg outward or inward causes pain. I thought I had a hernia. I’m guilty of years of being at a desk with my right leg crossed over the right. I’m not curious if this groin pain which aligns with this femoral nerve and my numb/burning issue is connect to this. It comes and go but recently every Morning I with a numb patch on my outer thigh. NOW it’s accompanied with a blow torch hot burning sensation. Can’t stand it put pressure on it for like 10-15 mins of sitting up with my right leg stretched forward. I’ve never experience a pain like this, I truly wake up crying. Doctor said I should foam roll, but it’s so intense and unfamiliar I lose focus. What should I do? All my “nerve” and muscle pains are on my right side, neck to ankle but intermittent. For reference, I woke up at 8:45 AM today screaming in pain, and it’s not past midnight and that outer thigh spot is still number to touch. Like I said, I feel pressure from touch, but too much pressure on it causes that burning, albeit slightly delayed. I really need help and I’m looking for answers and am at a loss. I hood y’all see this - help! Please! It’s a sudden problem but the pain is so intense I can’t move upon waking for nearly an hour. Is it fybromayalgia? Idk. What I do is I can’t wake up like this everyday. Plus it’s my driving leg. FTR: sudden onset, irregularly sensitive or always painful. The numbness is weird but tolerable, but now it’s escalated to what feels like a blow torch Directly on my skin and it’s just from minor movement. I’m desperate for help at this point. Right now after over 12 hrs my outer right thigh just had no feeling. Long mail scratches for instance, cause a slow burn and I think (I have anxiety) . Even soft quality sheets touching the area causes legit fire on my leg. Idk what to do or what type of specialist to see. Convinced I have MS or beginning fibromyalgia. TLDR: help I’m in agony
I have had this for 30 years. It was brought about by pregnancy which I saw online was one of the causes of it. Doctors have pretty much said "oh well" when I ask about it. Now I'm facing a knee replacement and when I ice my knee, I can feel it all the way up to my hip. Running from the inside of my knee to the outside of my hip. It may be something else but it sure sounds like this. Don't know if these exercises will help after this 30 years, but I'm going to give it a try. Thank you

I can't tell you guys thank you enough. I have had 2 surgeries on L4-S1 and L3 needs a boost, the dr. said it was SI pain which shows some arthritic change but not so significant to cause the pain levels I am at today. I kept telling them it's in the front - it goes down the back, through my hip, down my quad, and making all the way numb! I am NOT Crazy!
YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! AND THIS IS A VERY OBVIOUS DIAGNOSIS. Typically in med school, they receive way less than maybe a month on musculoskeletal injury diagnoses. And unfortunately some surgeons are like car salesman. They will call it something that is "unfixable" by any other alternative and push you into surgery quickly. I am a physical therapist and out of probably 50 orthopaedic surgeons, I can name on one hand the ones that are actually practicing ethically. Unfortunately, conservative options do not fill their pockets. Remember, when it comes to musculoskeletal pain, a general MD/DO is a jack of the trade, meaning they deal with a plethora of other diagnoses such as diabetes, obesity, flu, COPD, etc and do not specialize in one thing typically. See someone that is a master of the trade and is 100% all they do is musculoskeletal primarily physical therapists, even some new school chiropractors
Bob and Brad, thank you for this video. Four years ago I had taken Ciprofloxacin and I bent down top install a door sweep. I heard something pop in my left knee and 3 minutes later I was screaming with the worst uncontrollable pain one could have. The ambulance came and had to carry me to the ambulance. The medic gave me 3 shots of morphine and it did not relive the pain. The medic said I should be out but I was still in uncontrollable pain. I was in 2 hospitals and only given a drip of pain medication. Both hospitals could not find out what was wrong with me nor the physical therapist. So I asked to be discharged. My pain was better with the pain meds. I could not walk for 2 months crutches 3 months and cane 3 months. I still have pain in the front of my thigh and from the knee to the ankle numbness and tingling .
Do you think it was this? Geez! I’ve had to take Cipro (for a potentially deadly infection from a hospital) and knew it was bad, but I didn’t know it could do that to someone! That’s awful!
Thank you for your explantion. When I turn from my waist from left to right (while lying in bed), I feel an extremely painful burning sensation on my vastus intermedius and vastus lateralis; what do you then think the cause and remedy is? The pain is really excruciating.
I had the EXACT same thing. I had been on Levaquin. no question flouroquinolone (sic) was cause. Even doc said. But the exact damage was never revealed. 3 years I still have issues.
Yal have helped me so much this year. My femoral nerve and sciatic have issues. If your only having sciatica pain on your right side and also have been experiencing stomach problems like severe stomach pain ..heart burn..acid reflux..nausea..vomiting (esp. bile) please have your gall bladder looked at. It's also on the RIGHT side of your stomach and if it's enlarged and has gall stones this could be causing your sciatica pain. Ask your doctor if they can do an ultra sound to check. I hope this helps someone because it really was horrible not being able to walk or stand due to such severe pain. After gall bladder removal..never again have I had any sciatica pain.

Wow have you continued to improve?
Hello Diane. How go
I have pain in my fron leg radiate to the knee
Is painful to walk
❤😂❤😂I do to
I’m in the same position you are not alone. Doctors just do not want to diagnose. It’s disgusting really. Ally the best honey 🌸
We will get the help we need by the grace of Jesus Christ hallelujah
Did the exercise at 8:40 and boom my pain in my lower back shooting down my leg gone...wow ok subscribed
The pain initially in my hip and eventually in my upper thigh brought me here. Thank you guys will try your exercises and see how it goes.
thank you so much!
Thanks! Really appreciate the video, good starting off point for me to try to heal.
We appreciate your support!! Thank you! 😊
Yes the two voices just interrupt the information..
My pain is in the groin. Ugh. CT scan coming. Right leg has not been 100%. Four years and finally getting to the bottom of it all.
@@laurafraser-graham4345 I wonder why it takes years. 😔 People over age 65 can go directly to a neurologist if it is debilitating, like hard to walk or tolerate. Let us know how your scan went.
@@alysonmel3681 it is actually my prudental nerve which encompasses anal to clitoris. The perineal nerve comes off prudential, I am having two issues. I am on RUclips starting PT as I am getting some relief but not sure what is next.

What type of massage therapist did you go to for this? I am having the same issues. Thank you so much!

Damn I’m glad my pain is just sciatic nerve and the burning numb thigh from the meralgia parasthetica…I hope my testicles don’t start hurt too…

I have femoral nerve pain in both legs so let’s pray these stretches help me out
Did it work? Dealing with this issue currently

Hello guys, thank you for your therapy I am using your videos. I can not afford to pay $45 a session. You have saved me from a lot of pain. Bless you both my hip pain & & font of mu upper leg is getting better.

Hey you guys! I've been suffering from femoral nerve pain as well. I notice it only during the ovulatory period of the month. To help alleviate it I spray magnesium where it is aching and rub. It can get pretty severe, but this helps immensely. I feel a pain reduction of up to 90% until it eventually fades away. I know that it won't work for everyone, but it has really helped me a ton. Severe facet arthropathy right greater than left”
It’s my left leg.
My Doctor & therapist both missed this ! Great Job for the help !
Flossing works I have been in extreme pain with Femoral pain great info
Groin pain*

Both hospitals
could not find out what was wrong with me nor the physical therapist. So I asked to be discharged. My
pain was better with the pain meds.

That's very interesting. I am going to a doctor tomorrow and will ask them about this

What if you have sharp pains in the front going to the knees and shin in your left leg? I feel it most in the knee and the back of the knee and into my inner shin on my left leg. Also the left leg has sensitivity to the touch on my thigh and lower leg.
I feel that on both of my legs
My pain feels like a vice is squeezing my thigh. Very painful.
So ME as well! My back hurts, but from my sciatic in left but cheek to the front thigh, and mostly knee to the outside as well then my shin! It is awful pain. Had surgery on L4 & L5 and it is still happening after 3 weeks recovery! To soon to do exercises as these, but hoping in the near future I can. 7 months of this and nothing helps!
Thank you❤ Great information on your channel. You have saved me from so much pain. ❤
Going through this now and I believe it’s a pinched femoral nerve. Pain is shooting from the hip and down front if thigh to my knee. Using Voltaire emugel and a natural hot rub deep heat type cream and helps. Did take some painkillers when really bad but on 7th day and it’s getting better each day. Finding that a low side leg raise helps too.
I felt the pain travel upto my head while nerve flossing... And now I can also feel the pain on the back side it started with front... I guess my sitting posture is very very bad... Because I'm half way to lifting my body like you showed laying on the stomach and it is now starting to feel better...

7:50 I did this with a rubber band and pulled until my leg went fully extend up in the air as I lay prone. It instantly unlocked whatever was pinching.
I thought mine was sciatica until JUST NOW!!! It's femoral!! Thanks, guys !!!
I am really excited to try this stretch.
Had a femoral nailing running from hip to knee two years ago for broken femur repair. Can walk just fine but I too have been scouring the internet for how to help so much pain walking UP stairs (down's not nearly as bad), I must take one step at a time. None of these videos describe post surgery pain.
