I totally agree with your break-down of the trick - full marks for that, very clearly explained! Respectfully though, I disagree with the assessment of the effect as 'brilliant' - I thought it was messy, just too 'busy'. I feel like the actual effect is lost in the confusion of too many numbers, too many piles, all the dealing etc. Though those layers might be interesting to magicians, I think it's just 'noise' for an ordinary punter. The table of cards and numbers, for instance, is ONLY interesting to people like us interested in magic at that level. I know that's 'misdirection', but I prefer elegant tricks, where the effect is just a 'simple plot' that's easy to follow but with maximum impact. This 'Random' trick was a motorway of madness, but it only ended in one final reveal, which seemed too little for the huge layers of effort involved! Just my humble opinion of course!
P.S. It IS the King of Diamonds on the bottom - I just checked. You can see it when Teller throws the remaining cards face up after he's dealt the 6 piles of 7 cards.

There are 8 cards (not 7) in each pack (52=6x8+4). So, Penn showed two last cards to "prove" that she could end up with another cards if she would choose another number. Also, whenTeller get rid of other piles, he put it face up in such a way that we can see two bottom cards (K♦︎and 7♣). It also makes impression that all cards in the deck are different.

Thanks! I was wondering how that was done.
Was thinking slight of hand not Gaff - totally forgot to consider 'Gaff' cards & I know better...

(Not being anywhere close to an expert magician myself) I think you may very well be right in your deconstruction, especially since I think you can glimpse Teller - when slowing the video down and zooming in - dealing multiple 6 of spaces to the piles.

They conveniently cut Teller out of the frame when he switched decks.

Your absolutely right, the camera angle from top hides the move!

Teller shows 2 cards at the end that she supposedly could have chosen. It would have had to have been 8 total cards if 6 of them were duplicate 6's

No one was suspicious why in the world Teller would place more than 6 cards down when she only had a choice between 1 and 6? Why would Teller put 7 or 8 cards down? We know why he did it, to show regular cards at the end, but to a magician they would ask themselves why put more than 6 cards in each pile of she only had a choice between 1 and 6.

How do you explain the fact that she chose the number 5. When they counted down 5 cards there were 2 regular cards left over that Penn said if you would have said six it would have been a different card and shows the 6th and 7th cards as different. What if she had chosen the number 6? It would NOT have been the 6 of spades in Penn and Tellers trick only in your trick. That means they did something different than you did.

Some people think maybe Teller dealt 8 cards per packet, but Im not convinced, I still think its 7. At the end, the moment you mention about Teller showing 2 cards, because we don't see clearly from the overhead camera angle EXACTLY what Teller is doing with both hands. He could simply grab an extra regular card from the other packets before turning over and Penn making a point of naming the said 2 cards. HOWEVER, as always this is my opinion so I could be wrong!

You could be right. But also when Teller throws down some cards to the right we don't know how many cards he threw down. Was it 10 like in your explanation or was it only 4 cards. If it were only 4 cards then he did put down 8 cards in a pile.
