When the fight started, I cried. Like.. The fact that she's still been restless all this time. ;u; Broke my heart. All she wanted was to be with her beloved. She just wanted him to return again (even though that is impossible). I mean, can you imagine: you meet the love of your life, you get engaged, everything is going well and then suddenly it all hits the fan, your group blames you for your fiance's death, and it just.. Eats you inside. Maddening. And you just want to make things right. Maybe you can bring him back? There are spells, right? That's what I love about FFXIV and its lore. It makes you think about these situations and wonder what you'd do if you were in a circumstance like this. But yes, all the feels.
@@Nyasahi The worst part is that if you replay the start and see the stuff Avere says to her, it's....well...let's just say he was just as bad as the rest of her group..

I think SE was trying to push the feels to maximum or maybe later on you'll find out there was another way to free/save her without killing her. So in a sense this is just triggering more madness in TWOL or Edda herself. Hell maybe even the one person left in the party that was apart of Edda's will reveal information that might even save Edda later on. This is nothing but fan speculation though and this is one side quest I cannot get enough of. It's sad yet.... it's something that keeps FF14 interesting and pushes the narrative forward. SE was always good at telling stories afterall
Hey Mekkah, You have Palace's final boss theme, but I can't find the song "My Soul to Keep" in all your OST playlist. It's the song that plays when you meet Siren in the Main Quest, but it also plays against the mid-bosses in Tam Tara Hard Mode and on a set of late floors in the Palace. It's a solo organ piece that sounds very haunting.
I LOVE the pomander of lust. It's such a useful one to have, and if my party gets it, I lay down the law saying "Save that fucker for the boss". The moment we reach a boss, the one of us with the lowest dps pops it, and spams void fire II... The rest of us cycle our most powerful attacks... We usually kill a boss in under a minute, sometimes under 45 seconds. For the final boss, we ended up killing her in under 2 minutes, because she's a bit of a pain in the ass XD
Yoshi-P on an interview with Game Watch : "We got a lot of feed back so we are considering getting our hands on that. That was specifically made for Edda and only for Edda's model, so we need to render it for all races."
How the fight ended with it saying EDDA SLAIN makes me think there might be another way about going through the fight rather than just murder her, but thats probably not true because of the quest that unlocks right after beating Palace of the Dead.
Also bear in mind that if you do the quest "Corpse Groom" I think it was, you meet with Edda throughout the dungeon Tam Tara Deepcroft (Hard). In the end, she falls down into the depths, and it turns out this is where she fell. So you actually murdered someone you previously met. Congrats, you monster.
Actually, she died from that fall off Tam Tara. But as she mentions when you beat her, an Ascian turned her into THIS. Unlike the end of Tam Tara Hard, we are actually putting her soul to proper rest. The "Edda Slain" Text is 99% likely a DrkSouls/BlBorne reference meant to make you feel bad again.
NaiblistheCurious1 She doesn't specifically mention Ascian, just a robed figure (in French, a wizard/warlock). So she was either possessed by a lesser Ascian, or a Necromancer used her corpse to summon a voidsent. I doubt the message is supposed to make us feel bad, just think of it as 'Nightmare Slain.'
I, for one, was happy to lay down my life to my FF14 waifu... (Actually, it sucks I lost all my 41-50 progress when she killed us.) But I am glad she got in a good hit anyway.
What I heard though to help with your weapon or armor thing to increase to keep the light weapon once u reach 30 is to get wiped out on her so u can so the dungeons on that level again, ...eh
My ears hear creepy music, but what I feel is that it's a sad one, even with all that giggles. This game have some sad people gone mad and have some sad end. Like that one time when I saw Lady Amandine on Haukke Manor Hard, I somehow felt a little bit of, I don't know, relief? Not exactly happy, but not I find unpleasant either. Of course, mechanics happen and then I realized it's just how it is.
I'm actually planning to create a video for my favourite tracks in FFXIV, and another after polling the general community about their favourites too, probably won't do it until ~3.5 though.
The lore is cool, but how the lore ties into the fight itself and the floor design is even better - the mechanic of "in sickness" and "in health" means you have to act as Avere to lower her resentment - and by failing that act her emotions towards Avere grow stronger, and light up the runes of his name on the floor. It shows how her emotions towards him have become twisted, and the correct way to win the fight is to appease those emotions, or they overflow in the "black honeymoon" attack and kill you all.
Not 100% because haven't tested, but I think the damage scales off of how many letters are lit in the centre. Looks like they light up every time someone gets hit by in health
Black Honeymoon does more damage if mechanics are failed (A V E R E will be lit up)... unless you're getting killed by the very first one, then armour is probably too low.
yea her giggling and crying fits makes the whole song creepier, almost like it's her soul on the inside is fighting for control, the possessive giggling and the real Edda weeping because she just wants peace with Avere :(
