    Save the extra $ and invest in a better suspension. That spacer and block is cool for looks. If your truck is parked and never driven, go for it.

    Terrific video Mike. I truly appreciate the info. To maintain some bit of rake and also accommodate 285/70/17’s, going the spacer/block route, what would be the ideal front rear lift heights? This would be on a TRD OR short box. Very little off roading

      Depends a bit on preference but I like the look of my 2/1 lift. I think a 3/2 would look pretty good as well and might be the better option with 285s

    I did the 3'' RC spacer lift on my Truck( exactly like yours but short bed)......Be happy you didnt do the 3'' kit. The amount of positive camber associated with this 3'' kit is a total mess. Im actually gonna undo this whole kit and just look at it as a "Dont be a cheap arse" lesson learned. Im gonna see if the alignment shop can take some camber out of my front end without smashing the caster into a dangerous situation. But still........I wish i would have just gotten a $1500 real coil over 2''full lift kit. Im gonna end up spending $3000 to redo everything right.

    Hi Mike, really enjoy your videos, thanks for making all the effort. Questions: Why don't Fox products get much love on Tacomas? Also, with that 2/1 lift you did on your Taco, what is the max tire/wheel size? Thanks. Cheers from NorCal.

      I recently upgraded my suspension and actually considered a Fox setup but decided against them because of cost. The TRD Pro comes with Fox shocks as well so i'd say they get some love.

    Great Video Mike C. Very informative. I have a 2019 tacoma trd off road long box. I noticed that the truck squat a lot when
    I tow a boat with it. Do you know of a kit for lifting 2" front and rear?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 лет назад

      I'd go with the same 2" rough country spacer I used or the Bilstein 5100s in the front and a 1.5-2" Toytec add a leaf in the rear

    Hey Mike. What a great video. Thanks for distilling all your research. I was looking at the Ready Lift 2 and 1 but after seeing this I think I will do what you did and save a bunch. Do you think you will do a diff drop eventually.

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 лет назад

      I took it in to get the needle bearing replaced because of a minor vibration and the dealer told me it wasn't necessary to do a differential drop but that it would prolong the life of my differential so I went ahead and did it.

    What size tires do you run and did they rub the mudflappers prior to the lift??

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 лет назад

      I didn't increase tires size until after the lift was complete

    Been watching your videos on the Tacomas. Just wondering since I saw you put up a photo of a trd off-road on 285/75/16 I’m trying to get something close to it with my 2017sport.
    Do you think 285/70/17 (stock rims) will fit on a 3” lift without rubbing?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 лет назад

      I'm not certain but pretty sure you'd be good. My guess is someone else watching this video has already done it and can tell you.

    Do you recommend a diff drop with a 2" front spacer leveling kit

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 лет назад

      My Toyota dealer recommended it, although its not specifically required as for a 3" lift. They told me it would prolong the overall life of the diff.

    Super odd question.. was it raining when you did the VO for this? I kept looking outside thinking it was coming down at my house.

      Honestly it's the mic setup for audio. It's slightly too far from his mouth and it's gain is too sensitive, picking up white noise in the background. The acoustics of the room are also causing a little echo, sounds like not a lot of things are on the walls or it's too big of a room.

    Mike, you might have shared it already but what kinda mpg do you get with your lift and tires? I really like the way you got your Tacoma set up so I might just follow your steps lol

      So far I'm not noticing a significant difference but I want to get a few miles on them before I really answer that. Stay posted!

    Please don’t call your leveling kit a lift. And please don’t say your 265’s are oversized

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 года назад +2

      Why not? It sits taller than a stock tacoma (AKA lifted) and it has larger tires than a stock tacoma (AKA oversized)

    • @zandrbrooks6492
      @zandrbrooks6492 4 года назад

      Mike C I have the same leveling kit as you and I never call it a lift because it isn’t. I run 285/75 and I wouldn’t even think about calling them oversized, they are just regular sized truck tires.

    No...Dont do spacers. Use the OME kit.
