Something that is worth mentioning is that Vegeta saying that Frieza made him the killer he is and to never let him do that to anyone else is a line only in the English dub. The dub had many completely rewritten lines. The manga, Japanese version of Z, and the dub of Kai do not include that line.
This was a show from the 80's, from a country that is nothing like the West, made for kids, based on a way shorter manga, and in the end it functioned to sell toys... Let's not put it under a microscope and enjoy the thing it was when we were kids...

DBZ is a reason why I learned a new language, started working out, took up kickboxing,... It changed my life for the better. Only because my imagination as a child thought me that if I worked hard enough, I to could become stronger and win.

After all, Toriyama gave super saiyans gold hair and blue eyes so that they didn't need inking in the black-and-white manga.

I don't like DBZ but I think you didn't go about reviewing it in the right way by using the old Funimation dub. The old dub has many changes, censorship, and flat out changes or misinterprets the tone of multiple scenes and is in general a very bad adaptation. If want the most accurate version of the source material, you should a fan translated version of the manga (Not Viz manga because they change a bunch of stuff too) or watch the Japanese version of Kai.
I actually dislike the show, but i find it amazing how it's the show that both got lots of people into anime... and also turned off a lot of people and set their opinion of anime TO THIS DAY.

I tried to hear you out but you just have so much wrong like at least you said you don’t study film in your bio but here’s something : a lot of protagonists dont change throughout the story because their primary job is changing others for example you highlighted goku as being stupid and letting a mass murderer go he’s supposed to see the good in people and give them a chance it would be inconsistent writing as you love to point out if he let vegeta go but not freeza. A lot of your complaints can be explained in the mangas as anime’s typically don’t adapt everything from the source material if you actually did some research a lot of your complaints wouldn’t even be here like why gohan isn’t stronger than goku or vegeta in the buu saga? Because he was slacking on his training while in death it was stated that goku and vegeta kept their bodies in heaven or whatever because of their previous feats and were training the whole time since. Character matters alot. If your main character remains a douche or boring your writing sucks but you can make them tolerable for example. Jotaro Kujo since he start out as edgy but they have side characters who make their characters enjoyable For example. Jotaro is a guy who beats up random people and curses at his own mom but we later find out he didn’t wanna hurt other people by taking himself inside a jail cell and doesn’t wanna show his true emotions but he ends up feeling bad for his grandpa Joseph when he dies and also he is calmer and more mature in part 4 and admits his lines were cheesy. While Goku remains the complete same and never changed even in super and he NEVER learned from his mistake from giving cell a senzu bean and gives Moro a senzu bean and doesn’t know a kiss is while being in his LATE 30’s/Early 40’s and he even threatened the whole universe with the Tournament of Power and he’s the WORST CHARACTER IN FICTION atleast with Naruto he learns and eventually forgave Kurama the same creature who killed both of his parents and Sasuke had his character arc when he found out the truth about Itachi.

If I remember correctly, Goten and trunks are Sayian-earthing Hybrids like Gohan. I think the Sayian blood might have overwritten their human blood side while still retaining it. A stupid and illogical observation, sure. Just giving my two cents.
I've watched this multiple of times and I agree with most of your points, Dragon Ball Z is and always will be overrated trash! Now that Akira Toriyama is dead, people are coming out with revisionist history that Dragon Ball Z is still a good show for anything other than nostalgia.

Garlic Jr Saga and Vegeta breathing in space and destroying a planet with his fingers are filler, didn't happen and has nothing to do with the main storyline and the others are just translation errors. But everything else he said about the characters, storylines, plot holes, inconsistenies, I agree with.
My favorite way to watch DBZ is just a scene or two before the gym to pump me up was definitely not a show i can sit down and watch all the way through especially the filler
And it’s crazy because it’s the people who didn’t even watch it as a kid who put their lives on the line to defend it. They’re like 15 and it’s the first anime they’ve watched and they haven’t yet experienced a good story. I’ve watched all of these and I believe that naruto, one piece, and bleach (maybe) are all better shows and have deeper storylines and character development. There’s only slight character development in dbz other than the color of their hair whereas in the big 3 the characters are completely different by the end of the story. Being able to revive anyone who died takes away a lot of the emotional aspects as well
I agree with this although naruto does revive characters I like that one but it takes away all of the emotion impact and alot of tension from the show that's like if ace came back right after marineford after his death because characters should remain dead and if that happens even once we're gonna expect someone else is gonna be revived.

Even if your joking or not.. Chi-Chi is a mother, not a fighter. She’s gonna rage if her son has to fight intergalactic space warriors. Goku isn’t a human, he is a Saiyan, he was raised in the woods and lived on his own. He’s got a lack of brains but not in battle.
I prefer the manga overall or the Japanese dub. Even though I love the soundtrack of the english dub to death. Also, I am not sure the people of Japan care all that much about the concept of canon. Like, I would be surprised if anyone in Japan gave me shit for preferring GT over Super. Who cares what is canon? Also, the reason dragonballs don't work the way you think is that no wish can be granted that exceeds the power of it's creator and I don't mean power in the sense of power level alone. So for example, wishing back the dead and maybe even a planet the size of Earth is one thing but Shenron could never contain a villain like Cell. Another example, the reason Goku was an adult when he is in his SSJ4 state was because the power of that form was so strong that it negated the wish placed on Goku to turn him back into a child. It was that strong. Dende cant make dragonballs with infinite wishes or more than 3 because he's not powerful enough to create a dragon that can do that.

Naruto’s whole character is supposed to show that regardless of where you come from you can achieve your goals but he himself betrays that point by either being related to or being family friends with the most powerful people in his show (legendary sanin/ son of minato/ son of kushina) he doesn’t change a lick after the og Naruto EDIT: DBZ isn’t even about Goku as a character it’s gohans story 1st and Vegeta’s 2nd
If I remember correctly, Goten and trunks are Sayian-earthing Hybrids like Gohan. I think the Sayian blood might have overwritten their human blood side while still retaining it. A stupid and illogical observation, sure. Just giving my two cents.

I've watched this multiple of times and I agree with most of your points, Dragon Ball Z is and always will be overrated trash! Now that Akira Toriyama is dead, people are coming out with revisionist history that Dragon Ball Z is still a good show for anything other than nostalgia.

Garlic Jr Saga and Vegeta breathing in space and destroying a planet with his fingers are filler, didn't happen and has nothing to do with the main storyline and the others are just translation errors. But everything else he said about the characters, storylines, plot holes, inconsistenies, I agree with.
My favorite way to watch DBZ is just a scene or two before the gym to pump me up was definitely not a show i can sit down and watch all the way through especially the filler

And it’s crazy because it’s the people who didn’t even watch it as a kid who put their lives on the line to defend it. They’re like 15 and it’s the first anime they’ve watched and they haven’t yet experienced a good story. I’ve watched all of these and I believe that naruto, one piece, and bleach (maybe) are all better shows and have deeper storylines and character development. There’s only slight character development in dbz other than the color of their hair whereas in the big 3 the characters are completely different by the end of the story. Being able to revive anyone who died takes away a lot of the emotional aspects as well
I agree with this although naruto does revive characters I like that one but it takes away all of the emotion impact and alot of tension from the show that's like if ace came back right after marineford after his death because characters should remain dead and if that happens even once we're gonna expect someone else is gonna be revived.

And I was shocked that he didn’t invite his friends Bulma, Yamcha, Kuririn and Kamme Sennin for his wedding with Chichi. And they discovered years later that Goku has a son: Songohan! Why didn’t Goku warn them few moments after his birth? Yamcha, Bulma and Kuririn are supposed to be his closest friends and Kame Sennin is his master! And Chichi… my GOD Chichi… I HATE this woman! I prefer the manga overall or the Japanese dub. Even though I love the soundtrack of the english dub to death. Also, I am not sure the people of Japan care all that much about the concept of canon. Like, I would be surprised if anyone in Japan gave me shit for preferring GT over Super. Who cares what is canon? Also, the reason dragonballs don't work the way you think is that no wish can be granted that exceeds the power of it's creator and I don't mean power in the sense of power level alone. So for example, wishing back the dead and maybe even a planet the size of Earth is one thing but Shenron could never contain a villain like Cell. Another example, the reason Goku was an adult when he is in his SSJ4 state was because the power of that form was so strong that it negated the wish placed on Goku to turn him back into a child. It was that strong. Dende cant make dragonballs with infinite wishes or more than 3 because he's not powerful enough to create a dragon that can do that.
