I’m so frustrated. I’ve literally never heard of prodromal labor until it started happening to me 😒. Even the experienced Mamas I’m around, why has no one mentioned this?? I’ve been having these fake ass contractions for a week now. I’m not gonna trust it’s the real thing until my baby is actually out of my body. The cruelest joke ever.

This video was so timely. I am nearly 39 weeks and for the last week or so I have been having contractions that are about 5 mins apart, lasting for at least a minute, and that goes on for over an hour. But then they never get to the point where I think “I’m in so much pain( I have to be in labor”....it’s so frustrating. I’m still not dilated at all....

3 nights of prodromal labor with my first - wish I would’ve had this video last time! Went in for therapeutic rest on day 4 (Benadryl nap) and just that little rest alone got me from 1 cm to 4 cm active labor! Rest is so important; if I had known my prodromal labor wasn’t the main event I would’ve slept during each day!

Thank you for this! I've been having false labour on and off for about a week now without making any progress whatsoever and it is frustrating! I've been doing my best to get enough sleep just in case. I'm usually very well-hydrated, baby is sitting very low (albeit sunny-side up despite my re-positioning efforts), I'm drinking raspberry leaf and nettle teas, and I've been moving around a fair bit. Maybe I should just chill and patiently wait for the real thing at this point. It's hard to be stuck in that uncertain state where it's hard to make plans though. I'm due in two days and so over this!

Another thing that helps with those painful false contractions is magnesium. Take a magnesium calcium supplement meant for pregnancy. And use magnesium lotion every night. Not only does it help with those contractions. It helps with cramps. So no more charly horses! I am almost 9 months with baby #6. And was having these horrible contractions for almost 2 months. Dr told me to rest and drink lots. I was doing plenty of both. My mom who had 10 babies, told me to try magnesium. It has made a huge difference! Plus it helps calm you and sleep better!

I have however had two days where I was genuinely surprised that I hadn't at least lost my plug because the Braxton hicks were so intense. I'm now just having intense Braxton hicks off and on, but nothing has really started happening. 🤷‍♀️

Painful contractions were 3-5 minutes apart, about one minute in length, from 11pm to 3am. All of the sudden they stop. Question, is it normal to have a “tight” but not “rock hard” belly between these contractions? It goes on for hours like this walking between the two. I’m wondering if my uterus is just straining so much it’s exhausted..

But it lasted consistently for about 2-3 hours. Like I’m talking non stop cramps for 2-3 hours. I keep finding that’s Braxton Hicks online.. but I thought Braxton Hicks was the tightening of my uterus, which I’ve also felt and it didn’t feel crampy.. are there different types of Braxton Hicks or was the first one I mentioned something else?

I’m so physically and mentally exhausted! Been having Prodromal Labor for 14 days now… I’m 34 weeks and had my cerclage removed at 33 weeks with the hops that my cervix was just really irritated having the cerclage in and it would calm things down… False hope!!
I go 2, 3-4 hours sometimes 2-3 times a day with constant contractions every 3-5 mins. So of course I’m worried because I don’t have Fort Knox at my cervix anymore that she’s just gonna fly on out! So we have gone to L&D 4 times now only to have these taunting contractions putter out! I’ve done Procardia and shots of terbutaline and nothing works to really stop them nor the intensity.
Of course my Momma heart doesn’t want a preemie baby. But my body is physically worn out and mentally I’m exhausted too.
For reference this is my 2nd baby but 18 years apart. Had my 1st at 20 and now I’m 38. I lost my 1st when she was 10 years old to a Traumatic Brain Injury in 2014. My 1st born’s birthday is on 9/22 in just a few days so that’s also messing with my head and heart. Ugh, Motherhood sometimes! I swear my dear husband is never touching me again!!😉💞 Additionally, I have a genetic disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and that is why I have an Incomplete Cervix and needed a cerclage. Spreading awareness!!

How long can you have prodromal labor without it pushing into active labor? I am drinking water and resting but I am 31 weeks and I don’t want to go into labor obviously. I have a toddler that is almost 2 though so resting is a relative term. I went into labor at 38 weeks with toddler and this is 5th pregnancy.

What does it mean if your cervix is closed, but very pliable and soft? 30 wks at that time last week. Can doctors digging painfully around your cervix kick start your labor, if sex does? It was bleeding too.I have not been having sex because I want him to stay in there as long as he can. He should be good to go right now, but his brain is still developing and that’s more important to me than my hubby getting lucky sooner
