I’m 40+3 today 🥴 I haven’t experienced anything except some mild cramping. I might opt for a cervical exam at my appt on Wednesday. It’s hard being patient but all in God’s timing.
42+ y’all. Been cramping for weeks, been walking around 4cm dilated for over a week and lost my mucus plug with bloody show around a week or two ago. We’ve checked on baby and he is so healthy he just needed more time. We are inducing in 2 days if he doesn’t come on his own. ❤
Perfect timing! I’m 39 weeks 4 days pregnant with my 3rd baby. My first two births I was induced so I’ve never experienced an unmediated birth. I’m praying I get the opportunity this time to go unmedicated and have a low intervention birth. Thank you for all of your videos!
I had my son. My water broke while I was having a bath. I had no Braxton hicks. I just went into full active labour so I was in denial how quick it was happening. I called my midwife. She said I wasn't ready yet, but she headed over to check on me. In the hour it took to visit me, I was almost ready to push. I totally was not expecting that. I ended up having my son after 3 hours of active labour. I still think it's crazy and wonder how quick a second baby would be.
My second was born after only two total hours of any contractions at all to birth. If you truly believe your body navigates labor quickly, don’t mess around with that second baby 😂 he ended up being born in the car
@@amaliarc575 I saw a video that said eating dates helps speed up labor. I don't like the flavour, so I blended up 3 every day in a smoothie for the last trimester. I like to believe that sped up my labor. I have never had cramps for my period, so my midwife told me I was probably having contractions that I just didn't feel until I was in full on labor.
I’m a mom of two. My first labor had to be induced. The second time around the day of I was supposed to be induced I went into labor and I didn’t know. I just thought I was crampy. I ended up going into labor minutes after and had an encaul birth. It was magical.
39 weeks with my first and I've been loving watching and re-watching your videos! They've been hugely confidence building, I'm so grateful!! Thank you for all that you do. Not much happening so far so I'm just patiently playing the waiting game and hoping for a calm, low intervention birth!! Excited to do what my body is built to do!
I’m 29 weeks with my third and this makes so much sense about “false labor” - I had Braxton Hicks but they were very chill with my first. Second baby, had on-and-off pre-labor for two weeks, including one fake-out trip to triage, where they told me there was no dilation or effacement and cervix was totally posterior. I was disappointed - I had been so sure it was real labor! In hindsight it makes total sense that baby just wasn’t engaged yet - he was still a bit high when labor finally started for real about a week later. Thanks Bridget for all your content, it is so helpful!
I walked around for four weeks at 3cm! It totally messed with my mind. Then he ended up being born after a precipitous labor- first contraction to baby was 2 hours. I’ll be declining cervical checks this time (my third baby) so I’m not so I’m not playing those mind games.
We must have the same due date! I was having contractions at regular intervals yesterday morning but it fizzled out into nothing. Now I’m bouncing on my birth ball just hoping for things to get moving. I’d really prefer not to go beyond 40 weeks 😭
Funny, same here. First time mom, 39+2 along. And it's so hard to wait. It's like you have an exam ahead of you that's really important and you have prepared and studied for so long and want do it right, but you don't know when the test will start. I wish you a blessed rest of your pregnacy and a natural and beautiful birth ♡
I’m a doula and I find it’s a lot harder with most first time moms to “know” when they’re in labor. Mostly because it’s very common to have start and stop contractions over the course of a few days or even a week before “real labor” starts. This usually surprises my couples because they just assume once they feel a contraction, it means labor has started and baby will be born that day or the next. So I spend A LOT of time going over early labor and what it can look like!
This would have been so helpful for me to know with my first. I was "labouring" for 8 hours at home before I went to the hospital and got pressured into oxytocin because I wasn't progressing past 4cm. It was horrible and ended up as a c section 17 hours later. I wished they would have just sent me home from the beginning being I was only 37 weeks. Part of it was my fault for not educating myself but I think it's so important for providers to be loud about this fact.
@@Bwoood That happens a lot unfortunately! Women aren’t in active labor until around 6cm…so anything before that is just early labor and can start and stop often before really getting going. A lot of times the job of those irregular early contractions is to help turn baby into the optimal position to fully enter the pelvis and they are also thinning out or effacing your cervix so that when active labor starts, your cervix can dilate and open.
We’re due on Tuesday!! We’re 39 weeks 2 days and so excited to meet our son! However, we are committed to no cervical checks or any other interventions AT ALL unless baby or mama is no longer safe and it’s medically necessary. That would not be the norm.
39 weeks pregnant here…I’m still waiting. Tomorrow we’ll be discussing with OB options. Also, I can’t decide between vaginal birth or C-section…aaah… Also, I had Braxton Hicks since 17 weeks and sometimes as often as 15 times a day…
I starting dilating at 34 week pregnant. At 35 weeks I lost my mucus plug, had bloody show, dilated to 2cm, 75-80% effaced, and cramping. My doctor said i will have the baby within a week or 2 or it could be any day. P.S. This is my seconds child and i was induced with my first. I'm hoping to have this baby without being induced.
Am 37 weeks and 5 days. This is my first baby at 37 years. I hope to reach 40 or 42 weeks, then naturally go into labour. But i have read that anything after week 38 is a perfectly baked baby😊. So, praying for God's will to be done🙏🏽
Is your doctor okay with you waiting until 42 weeks especially since yours would be considered high risk due to age? I'm 34 but my doc recommends not waiting past 41 weeks due to other complications like baby pooping inside..
Hi! I'm also 37 weeks and 5 days along! Also my first baby! I'm waiting to hit 38 weeks and then hope baby comes soon naturally. I have high sugar so it's risky keeping baby in for too long. I am praying for a natural delivery rather than induced. Trusting in God and His sovereign will. Praying you will be blessed with a safe and enjoyable childbirth and a healthy baby ❤
@@krystalfaith thank you. I wish you the same. The reason I also want to go past 38 weeks is that I have been lucky to have an easy pregnancy. I still hike 3 times a week for 30 mins and go for walks 5 times a week. My sister-in-law believes this baby will come earlier than 40 weeks because am active. But doc says being active only serves to make Labour easier and not come sooner!
42 week babies do perfectly fine and not over baked lol I think a lot of docs just get impatient. Baby will do what baby needs :) trust your baby and your body. Best of luck to you 🙏
37 weeks and 4 days! So excited to meet our little guy. 🥲Last Wednesday I was 2 cm, 60% effaced and a bishop Score of 9. I think on Thursday they’ll strip my membranes. They were going to induce for gestational diabetes. 😕 So excited! ☺️

Do you think I could get through L&D with just the Built to Birth course and everything else provided with that, or should I still try to get a doula? A doula is just VERY expensive here in northern California ($2300+) and I'm hoping I can prepare my body and my husband for birth in lieu of a doula... The hospital I'm delivering at is well known for the amazing nurses and midwives there and they fully support natural births. They also sometimes will have volunteer doulas but it is not guaranteed.
On my third baby and I don’t think a doula is necessary as long as your husband is ready to be a support person! Everyone is different but my husband and nurses got me through just fine.
