Thanks for watching this video, Mama! I hope it answers the question you might have about what contractions feel like! What's one question you have about pregnancy or birth that you haven't found answers for yet?

How long can round ligament pain last (from the initial onset at that moment, until you feel pain free again)? I went to ER because I have lower abdominal pain (in the middle rather than one side or the other) that feels like the start of a menstrual period (dull but constant ache/pain). Baby is ok, checked urine and no UTI, and vaginal exam showed I'm not dilated. Discharged with no diagnosis, so not sure if it's round ligament pain. Tylenol did not help. I'm on day two :(

I'm three days postpartum and I feel like I had the easiest labor ever. Idk. I was 7 cm dilated and feel hardly to no contractions. no pain really until I was 8 to 9 cm dilated. I only had three to four hard contractions. It was the time when I had to push. I am so grateful as a first time mom to had such an easy and quick delivery.
Edit/ November 4th 2022, prior to giving birth I used to walk a lot from month seven, between half an hour to an hour daily.
In the 9th month I did everything they say that would help with natural birth and making it easy, for eg, I ate dates I drank castor oil, I would also eat pineapple and do a lot of squats. There is this thing that is called كهف مريم which I used to drink a lot to make birth quicker and easier.
Thankfully it help me a lot.
I've decided to share this info as well because I believe some of you maybe wondering how did this magic happen. Lol
    :)

First time Mom here. I delivered 12/14/21. I didn’t know I was in active labor until I got to about 7 centimeters. My contractions got faster, stronger and longer; so I knew it was time. I couldn’t talk or lie down comfortably anymore. I labored at home for as long as I could. I arrived at my birthing center at 9 centimeters. I finished my transition in the tub for about an hour. I breathed my daughter down and out, didn’t even have to push. My total labor time was under 5 hours. Unmedicated and no complications or issues. I had my first contraction at 1:52. She was born at 6:14 ❤️

One of the most empowering thoughts I remind myself of during labor is that a contraction could never be stronger than I can handle because it’s part of me.
It’s not like pain being done to you. This is pressure that comes from deep within your muscles. It is productive pressure.

My first child 11 yrs ago I went into labor at 8 am on my due date the only reason I thought I was in labor was because the cramping was consistent throughout the hours passing. But they lasted all day for me and I didn't go to the hospital until 3am. Didn't get an epidural until I was 5 cm but that was a mistake. No one told me it would prolong anything. I wasn't in pain to even have one. I personally think I could have handled it completely without meds. 17 weeks now and I plan on not touching meds this time. I just dont think Ill need it. And after the clusterf*** of with my old hospital and Dr during labor? I welcome the pain over the screw ups.

My OBGYN kept telling me not to push 😤😤😤😤 So much that I started pushing and she almost didn’t even have time to finish putting on her gown 😂 Best advice as I had a natural birth 2 weeks ago, BREATH!!! • @ilearizlucena7118
      @ilearizlucena7118 4 года назад +26

zdxz xz My main tip would be to believe in yourself. So many weeks leading up to my birth I would cry and be anxious because I didn’t believe I could do it. You need to stay calm and truly believe that our bodies were meant to do this. Now with that said, also listen to your heart. If you are hurting too much, if you feel like the pain is unbearable and your souls is hurting please consider an epidural. It’s not worth to suffer. Your birth is supposed to be this special moment where you give your all of your strength to meet your baby and you don’t want to be miserable. And you definitely don’t want to make it a traumatizing experience. You got this mama! I believe in you!

    • @Realshugarbaby
      @Realshugarbaby 4 года назад +61

Omg the same thing happened to me. They told me it would take at LEAST another 4 hours. But I was in so much pain I just listened to my body and started pushing anyway (they left me ALL ALONE, my hudband was on his way). When my husband got there I told him "something's happening. Go get a doctor". The doctor came in super mad at me that I was "bothering him" since the nurse that checked me said it would take a few more hours. Well, he changed his shitty behavior once he checked my vagina and saw a head coming through! He started freaking out and telling me to wait. Sorry sweetie you made me wait enough. He wanted me to deliver with my OB! Idiot. I don't care I'm not waiting. Less than 10min later she was in my arms. Never giving birth in a hospital again. I'm almost to my due date with number two and I have a midwife this time ❤

Pushing was the worst for me, although that wasn't a pain thing. I honestly don't even remember that hurting, more pressure than anything.
What I remember was being for whatever reason unreasonably afraid of pushing. This was my fourth baby (currently pregnant with baby 5, hopefully a home birth) and the hospital staff just kept saying push, push, push, and it was driving me nuts. I just wanted a minute to breathe but the medically unnecessary urgency in everyone's voice invoked fear in me and I had a LOT of trouble bearing down.

Not pregnant but we're looking to grow our family in a couple of years and I've gone down the rabbit hole on researching all things labor. 😂 Contractions are honestly what scare me the most about child birth! I mean, besides tearing and the healing process. This video explained it in a way where I was like "Oh... okay... That sounds bad but not AS BAD as I keep building it up in my mind." Thank you!

I came here just to say that all of her explanations are somewhat accurate! They do come in waves that get more powerful and closer together. And you can definitely tell the difference to braxton hicks.
Also I want to thank you for teaching your viewers how to breath. That was such a big help to me during the first phases of labour. I don't think everything would have gone so well if I didn't have had this knowledge. I gave birth the first time and the entire labour (from first contractions to baby is here) took only 7 hours. I am forever grateful for the information that is provided in these videos!

With my first, as soon as I hit 5 cm, my contractions overlapped so much I had 0 break in pain. At 8 cm, I had a visceral need to push... I had to breath and focus to NOT push but sometimes it was a feeling so strong my body didn't obey me.
Ended up delivery naturally and unmedicated after 13 hours of active labour. Phew. Hoping the second will be a bit less rock n roll

First time mom here - I'm in my 35th week and have been experiencing terrible back aches and abdomen at least once per day, but some days it happens all day. My muscles feel tight, tired, and sore like I've worked out! Nothing is cyclical or progressing so I do not believe I'm in labor but I'm becoming more convinced that I really am experiencing contractions. Last night the pain in my ribs woke me up :(

I am now on week 34 and have the exact same symptoms. I am also a first-time mom, and it took me a while to realise they are contractions. I only realised I was having contractions while explaining what I feel to my boyfriend, the only way I could explain it was: "the muscles of the uterus are... contracting", it is not real pain but it's definitely uncomfortable. I also had what you describe: feeling of sickness and acute pain in the stomach region, which lasted for a while, so much so I wasn't fit to go to work at all those days.

I am on baby #3, my first two births were extremely painful. I had “back labor” with both. So it was a very much so excruciating pain in my back. I am PRAYING this time I don’t have back labor as I have heard it is more painful than regular labor

  • @kemartini

Contractions in active labor feel like “what the hell was I thinking”? Honestly, it feels like someone is wringing out your mid section like a rag then releases it for a minute or two. It’s a very exhausting experience imo but you feel blessed when it’s over.

  • @butternutscotch

I went into labor at 41 weeks. Tomorrow is my daughter's fifth birthday actually. I watched so many of these kinds of videos to prepare myself but my birth went nothing like anything I had ever heard from anyone. 41 weeks and she hadn't dropped at all so I went to the gym. Woke up at 2 AM bleeding and an agonizing pain. No contractions in the front whatsoever. Just a nearly crippling back pain. It didn't start gently or in waves. It was just every two minutes for nearly 24 hours. I was medically gaslit and sent home and told that they couldn't see any contractions in the front with the belt thing. Contracting every minute at that point. They told me I should labor about three days and then come back. My husband at the time drove back to the house with me and I was on the bathroom floor screaming in agony. I called the hospital back and begged them to admit me. Got back there after a traumatic car ride and they said it looks like you're having a baby today and I said yes I told you guys. All of my pain was in my back. I mean I know it's back labor but I had no idea what it would feel like. It felt like someone was crushing me from the waist down. At that point my water had broken on its own and I was gushing like a geyser and I told them I was ready to push and they told me that I was not ready to push even though my body was doing it for me. They basically made me hold her in because they were too busy delivering a set of twins and a C-section. it took them nearly 10 hours to get me an epidural so I felt every bit of my labor aside from my tearing. They made me hold her in for so long that she became distressed and her heart rate dropped and she aspirated meconium so they had to suction her lungs. Honestly at this point I feel like I have PTSD and I feel like they hurt my baby. I know we were supposed to just be describing the feeling of labor pain but it felt good to type this out. You just never know what your experience will be.

I had 36 hours of 1 minute contractions every minute - very painful - way too long as well - ended up with emergency c-section. I was beyond exhausted and had little joy when baby was taken from my body. It’s clear like it was yesterday - but 35 years ago. In hospital for 12 days. Never again and I didn’t go back for more. Just my experience. I think being quite naive and not having the right Doctor added to the traumatic birth. Thank heavens new mins to be have more knowledge and assistance from the midwives.

I am currently pregnant with my second child and just wanted to state that not everyone is going to experience these types of contractions. I had back labor meaning that when I got a contraction it felt like my back was breaking. It felt nothing like cramps. Taking steady breaths did not seem to help me I guess because the muscles in my back were the ones contracting. The only thing doctors and nurses could suggest for me to get through them was laying on my side and off of my back. I know that this is unlikely to happen to most but it still could. I am just praying that it is not like this again for this baby. :(

This is something else that they don't always tell you. At least not me I had no idea until it happened and when I asked the nurse about it she was just like, "all yeah that happens sometimes." Regardless whether your labor is really hard and difficult or quick and easy once you hold that sweet little angel in your arms it is worth every bit of it. Both of my pregnancy's were not just difficult during labor, they were hard from the start. They were both IVF pregnancies which is also painful and stressful. So once I did get to hold my daughter is really was all worth it. I do hope this delivery is easier than the last but if not that is okay too because the prize is so worth it.

Update: The hospital ended up calling me 4 hours before my induction and said I had to wait because labor and delivery was full. So the same day at 6 pm they call me to say come on to the hospital. I had my beautiful baby boy at 1:25 pm on 4/30. He was 9 pounds and 2.6 oz and I did that with no epidural. I breathed and it really did help alot. So THANK YOUUU for all your videos 😊

The best part of this video which isn’t too bad - are the comments from
Mums ; that was the most interesting to hear all you mums talking about Labour; I feel so much better now and more prepared - hoping my planned c section goes to plan; but of course need to know in case the Caesarian isn’t done in time and I go into Labour before and they don’t have any doctors on hand. Thank you mums; now better would be a video from actual mums and lots of them

I just gave birth a week ago. My first was a c-section and the labour was 100% back labour, I didn't feel belly contractions at all! This baby was my VBAC. My contractions were ALL in my scar. It hurt so badly it felt like my scar was going to burst!

My son is going to be 1 month tomorrow so it's pretty fresh in my mind. I had strong back contractions for the majority of my labor. It felt like I was bending the wrong way. I 100% blacked out often. I tried to breathe through them and I think it was easier to get through them when my boyfriend was joking with me. It also felt like my hips were ON FIRE. It helped SO SO MUCH when he pushed my hips together towards my spine. They felt the same just changed intensity.

If you have this again (if you have another baby) laboring alternating between the tub (sit sideways with knees spread and sort of hang over the edge of the tub) and laboring on hands and knees really helps. I get back labor a LOT (on my 5th kiddo now) and hands and knees has been the best solution for me.

I had back contractions during my first experience. I wonder how front contractions feel compared to back contractions. Worse? Not as bad? I paced out my pain, that was my automatic reaction that helped with the pain until I couldn’t withstand it and needed something or someone (my partner) to hold onto. It’s amazing that the body essentially does everything on its own (pushing) and we just help it along. Your videos helped me mentally prepare and I went into L&D without fear. Thank you!

Some have back contractions in the lowerback, others experience contractions in the front lower part of their belly. And there are woman who experience leg contractions, sometimes explained as pain arpind the butt and anus.

My water broke at 37 weeks when I was 0 cm dilated. They had to induce me since I wasn’t in labor. Within 3 hours it went from mild cramps every 10 minutes to my insides trying to push themselves out every 3 minutes. After 10 hours of terrible contractions I finally asked for the epidural. I was only 4cm dilated. My boy had his umbilical cord wrapped around his body so his heart was having trouble-ended up with an emergency c section. It was my first and I didn’t know that inducing will cause faster more painful contractions. Makes sense.
