Do not forget that if nuclear warfare occurs, EMPs will knock out the GPS satellites. You need to do this challenge with just a sextant and a Nautical Almanac.
Only electric devices within los (line of site). So results would vary based on altitude of emp. Some satellites would continue to function and orbit over effected areas. Spotty coverage at best.
@@Adventureman_Danyou don’t really have to worry about this actually but it would be good to have on your ship anyways because the satellite won’t be running for long without government and your not as safe as you think you are get a fair day bag for your electronics so they can’t track you
This is exactly the content I’m here for. I am obsessed with the idea of having a dedicated garden on a sailboat - for nutrients and for visual beauty. I started hydroponic gardening at home in anticipation of having a dedicated space on it for my eventual sailboat. Dan - you’ve got one of the best channels in terms of living on a sailboat. I know you spend a lot of time in the Caribbean, but it would be fun to see you in some colder climates and see how your daily activities adapt for long term living in cooler climates. Awesome vid, mate. I had somewhere to be, but since you just uploaded this, I’m stuck here planning for waterworld with you 😅
@@Adventureman_Dan cheers! Perhaps I’ll meet you there? I’m going aluminum and mentally preparing for it. In the meantime, if you are ever in the New York City area, you’ve got a place to stay right here! I’m looking forward to this series.
Hey Dan, love how you give a conatant evolution of perspective. About 4 months ago I found your channel, then another sailing channel, then another....you might see where this is going. Well, here I am, today watching you again. Looking at buying this Compac 16 and not looking back. Thank you, Dan. For a lot
Buy a few pounds of broccoli seed, look for microgreen seed, it is cheap. You can sprout it or grow it in planters and harvest the leaves. It is high in nutrients and very healthy.
If you can find kelp it can be harvested for delicious food, inside boat gardens can be insect attracting. Also a sailing dinghy eliminates the need for gasoline.
This, this right here is absolutely a fabulous way to think about life and living it in the moment completely… getting my boat in 2026 and looking for to every single challenge. Thanks for sharing!
Dan what I like about your inspiration is, hopefully, you wake up the mind set of stayed, outdated, and matrix mentality. Their will NOT be an acropolis, (as we are protected!!) By higher positive energy, with free will, to live in ❤HARMONY AND FREEDOM We will ALL, thrive with PEACE within...up 2 u
Good way to prep practice Dan! Learn what you don’t know and sharing with others. Do you carry redundancy for electronics in case of lightning? In Corfu now we were close to a boat that got hit last week and we lost vhf and satellite connections to navigation. Been stuck a week waiting for parts… keep up the great work man!
You can pressure cook meals with meats that have a long shelf life. Part of my plan is keeping a variety of meals to mix things up every once in a while.
This is super clever! I’ll be following and recommending to others! The sextant idea is cool… but you could still check your gps and show us how close your calculations were! Reminds of the fear the walking dead when the characters escape to sea on a boat in the apocalypse.
Your Doing great, your part of the reason I'm heading out after spending my life building it all up just to loose it all cause of todays politics. There not on our side either is mother nature. They truly don't want at a independent society.
What do you do during hurricanes? I’ve lived in Florida for 40 years. So I know about hurricanes. Tropical storms are called rain with a name. May be up to category two hurricane just a rain with a name. But I have no idea what you do when you’re on a boat in a hurricane.
Hi Dan. Love your ideas for the adventure. I'm 💯 that there are going to be great videos coming with many different activities. There is only one positive critique and has nothing to do with your adventures but with this video. The background music is too loud and sometimes drowns your voice. There is no need for the music but if you're going to use it it's better to leave it there, in the background. Éxito and fair winds.
This is your best idea yet! Love it and looking forward to it..... Get a bottle of multivitamins just in case. Do you have antinbiotics? What are your plans if you get sick and need medical help? You could in theory have some antibiotics prescribed like cipro, cephalexin, flagil, for the basics.....
Very good point, I have for 3 years of daily requirements of vitamins and minerals. And its the size of an small backpack. D3 with K2, C, B12, Omega 3, Iron, zink, magnesium. Those keep your immune system running 100%. In times of food crisis etc people will get sick weak and die. Not because of less food but because of those vitamins and minerals getting lower and lower and your immune system shutting down. But Fish and meat has all of them already, and seawater 80+ minerals also absorbed by skin by swimming etc. So that would be no problem whit fishing, hunting and sea life . Drinking water with electrolytes is also very important and gets you killed in few days without. Myself have reversed osmose filter and bit Keltic sea salt for electrolytes . I also have an amazing pocket water filter for emergency situations. Katadyn tactical pocket water filter is the one that safes you.
You do realise the US submarine experimentation and training warfare center is located in the Caribbean. You also have Russian subs visiting Cuba. Biggest risk is 🦟 born diseases red tides or a virus that jumps species... like the present bird flue H1N5 ... but more aggressive. Ozone radiation colapse ... Or magnetic field reversal... One more comment/question: how do you grow flora and then move from country to country? I imagine entering other countries may have seed/fresh produce/meat restrictions. I was always curious about how that is managed. Would love to know.
@@Adventureman_Dan interesting. In my mind, I feel like if I were to sell the Atlantic over to Europe, and I spent all that time growing greens only to have it confiscated or destroyed. Pack a lot of good animal fats. The fish don't have enough. Try to stay away from seed oil, get some lard, lots of lard. Much healthier for you. Fat is your fuel.

Sailing the farm
Try guerrilla gardening. Plant some things on some islands and come back for harvest later.
Owww that is a really cool concept!
Cool idea! Any specific plants in mind?
@@siberianshuburshun688 weed would be my first choice. 😅
But don't, that's how we get invasive species that kill an islands ecosystem
@siberianshuburshun688 that would be climate and soil specific. You'd want something that is indigenous, non-invasive and can thrive unattended.

I section of plastic guttering could be used for your planter boxes
Love the challenge!
a electric still will come in handy even if you dont drink. you can make your own fule or something. good luck ill be watching

you could make bi-diesel with plastic waste in the still. iv herd up to 1liter per kilo of plastic
