Actually both are lacking but Xbox has better services(gamepass). Yes it's selling more than Xbox series because microsoft releases games on PC day 1. I'm pretty sure many people(including hardcore PS players) would buy an Xbox just to play Forza horizon, if those games were only on Xbox console. And as a video game fan and someone who has read IGN back in the cheat code days, its sad to see the lack of fairness and enthusiasm from these video game journalists/youtubers. I have to agree. I don't get all the complaining and lack of enthusiasm. PS5 has far outperformed Xbox's library this generation, even this year when Xbox was supposedly releasing a bunch of games. I honestly don't know how to complain about PS5. Every time I try, I boot my machine up, drop into Helldivers 2 or Astrobot and all the sudden I forget what I was going to complain about. Maybe I do a Tower run in Returnal or go farm some Legendary upgrades in Horizon Forbidden West or take some laps in Gran Turismo 7. Of course I play third party games too, but there is A LOT to play. Some have PS4 versions, but like TitanFall on Xbox One vs 360, the PS5 version is easily superior. Exclusives this year alone: Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Astrobot, Silent Hill 2 Remake

As someone who pretty much skipped an entire console generation, I'm very happy with my Series X, I think it's a great system that plays most of the games that I want to play. Although if I'd owned an Xbox One or PS4, I'd be very disappointed with how this generation has gone so far. Not sure I'd have seen any compelling reason to upgrade.
One library has 59 90 + rating and the other 39, but both of them, knowing where the butter is, went for xbox. No mention of FPS, except in closing, no mention of cost of subscription at all, no mention of accessories, except once when PSVR is on steam (The guy BARELY found the latest PSVR game to mention, Metro). These were NOT prepare to debated, in fact, they did not debate, they just spewed shallow POV. This was NOT a good video. IGN should know better. And the moderator, sort of, is not even prepare for it, he turns around to look at this sheet to grab 2 numbers.... you had to remember 2 numbers and you did not... This console watch/ ps vx Xbox conversation is irrelevant in 2024…..everyone knows the industry is moving to a “put our games everywhere” strategy…it’s already happening. Can this show be killed and maybe use this time to discuss innovation of cloud gaming or game genre strategies for each publisher? Just something that is more relevant for 2024 and beyond would be nice….
They are both fine. It’s the games that have been missing, generally. But that’s down to extended dev time etc. maybe due to customer expectations rather than what can make a good game. AAA games don’t need to be 100 hour eye bleeding epics. Though it seems hard for them to make beautiful, great mechanics, short, cheaper, games.
I never understood the "no games" meme for PS5. I mean, if thats the main system you game on... doesn't it have all the games? Aside from the 1 or 2 Xbox exclusive. Currently I'm playing Dragon Age VG, the newly released Dragon Quest Remake. And am starting Silent Hill 2 on it later on. So.. it does have games? And that's just what's on my plate now, not all the games I've played on it over 4 years

I didn't even get into Xbox upgrades just because I feel like this generation overall has had so few exclusives on that end that you could just still keep your Xbox from last generation and pick up Game Pass and you'll be fine. Whatever the PS5 gets (and I agree, it hasn't been much compared to previous gens), then the Xbox should get less than half of it. First Xbox I've never owned and I don't feel as if I'm missing out on anything.
I still keep my Spider-Man Special Edition PS5 what I've had over a year in my opinion games looks still good on a PS5 and paying 850€ of a console without a disc drive is not worth it deleting a disc drive is a crime! I'd give the PS5 a B and the Series X a C. There's no doubt that this generation has been slow on the software side, but having said that, PS5 has had more games scoring higher in general. Not to mention the install base.

I own both consoles and love them both for different reasons. I think a C- for PS5 is off base. 66 million units is an unlikely sales figure for a console that is only slightly above average. Best place to play PS4 games… Really?!? Had Sony not shipped games playable on PS4, they would have been crushed for abandoning the previous generation instal base. Clearly they were smart for not doing that. Sony continues to mostly crank out great first party games. Xbox continues to be the most consumer friendly and hands down the best deal for console gaming. I’m loving that I have played Starfield, Diablo IV, COD BO6, and soon, Indiana Jones and Avowed without dropping a penny beyond my game pass sub. Both consoles get an A from me.
Ok what games were good on PS in the last 4 years?, Foamstars, Forspoken Quantum Error or Concord? Astro Bot so far has only sold 1.5M and to be fair that game deserves 5-6M by now, both Xbox and PS have messed up in different ways (some the same ways), but both have great games, no need to fanboy one over another just enjoy what you like and be happy or move to another platform.

If I’m honest and somebody wants to buy an Xbox or a PlayStation this year and they don’t have either one and they have to decide I think you have to ask a few questions but the majority they would be better served getting an Xbox, but they will want a PlayStation. I hope that makes sense. People want to go where the crowd is, but if you got Xbox, you could play game pass all day and not get bored, I don’t just say that because I have an Xbox it’s because that’s what I’ve seen people do. Microsoft has huge. They can get introduced to Game Pass. Borrow my Xbox that was collecting dust he wanted to play college football on it I said check out Game Pass on my account. He nearly lost his mind when he saw what was on there. This was one of our student analyst at the facility who likes college football and didn’t have a next generation platform to play on. 4 gens? You are delusional. The original Xbox came in 2 years after the ps2 and all everyone was talking about that gen was Halo and Fable. Then the 360 came out and it dominated. Sony only beat them in sales because Xbox stopped selling 360s months before the new gen. The Ps3 was a joke. Devs hated it. The ps4 was the first time Sony clearly won. And it wasn't because they did anything special. It is because xbox's Don mattrick fucked up. The PS5 had a lot of momentum but most of the talk in the early was What Xbox was doing for some reason. Based on how badly they messed up last gen, Xbox did well to gain back some good will this gen. Sony a had too much anti consumer stuff this gen. Everybody bout a ps5, but everybody was talking about Xbox. It was weird. So no Xbox did not loose 4 gens in a row. Sony won this gen but not as much as they did the last gen. Xbox gain back a lot of ground. And we can tell how Sony reacted with the lackluster ps5 pro.

They don't explain very well that Gamepass is not a strong value proposition for everyone. It depends on what you want to play. I have a handheld pc and a playstation and typically only subscribe to PC gamepass one month per year because there are so few games I want on gamepass.

As an owner of the PS5, it’s really just a PS4 pro mark 2. The PS5 pro is a PS4 pro mark 3. There really isn’t any difference in the games beyond nicer graphics. It works on the same theory as a 3DS and a NEW 3DS that played 3DS games and then about 3 exclusives. I don’t own an XBox, but it looks like the same story.

Xbox has done irreperable damage to the game industry with their acquisitions and move to gaming as a subscription service, as well as their numerous high profile flops like redfall, starfield, and hellblade 2 that resulted in studio closures and lost jobs. Sony released fuck all this year, but atleast astrobot was fkin huge and helldivers was a social phenomenon before they fucked it. I don't even give xbox a grade, they just dropped the class. Sony gets like a D. And with PC, if I play another gd game with shader stutter, or other unoptimised shit that barely seems like it works on my 4090, i give PC game devs a D also. PS5 only has Astrobot / Demon Souls / Stellar Blade and most if not all of those are coming to PC. Xbox doesnt exist anymore with exclusives since PC exists, at least the remaining missing PlayStation exclusives still locked to PS3 / Metal Gear Solid 4 and PS4 Infamous Second Sun / Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection / Bloodborne / other important games im forgetting will be become playable as ShadPS4 emulation matures.

And as a video game fan and someone who has read IGN back in the cheat code days, its sad to see the lack of fairness and enthusiasm from these video game journalists/youtubers. This video was a waste, and as a fan they need to better by their audience and do the research before making a "report card" video. It should've just been called "Max & Stella's Feelings". I don't see the passion or drive behind these videos, it's so cold and they left out ALOT of information for both PS5 and Xbox for the past 4 years.
I have to agree. I don't get all the complaining and lack of enthusiasm. PS5 has far outperformed Xbox's library this generation, even this year when Xbox was supposedly releasing a bunch of games.
I honestly don't know how to complain about PS5. Every time I try, I boot my machine up, drop into Helldivers 2 or Astrobot and all the sudden I forget what I was going to complain about. Maybe I do a Tower run in Returnal or go farm some Legendary upgrades in Horizon Forbidden West or take some laps in Gran Turismo 7. Of course I play third party games too, but there is A LOT to play. Some have PS4 versions, but like TitanFall on Xbox One vs 360, the PS5 version is easily superior.

As someone who pretty much skipped an entire console generation, I'm very happy with my Series X, I think it's a great system that plays most of the games that I want to play. Although if I'd owned an Xbox One or PS4, I'd be very disappointed with how this generation has gone so far. Not sure I'd have seen any compelling reason to upgrade.

They are both fine. It’s the games that have been missing, generally. But that’s down to extended dev time etc. maybe due to customer expectations rather than what can make a good game. AAA games don’t need to be 100 hour eye bleeding epics. Though it seems hard for them to make beautiful, great mechanics, short, cheaper, games.
I never understood the "no games" meme for PS5. I mean, if thats the main system you game on... doesn't it have all the games? Aside from the 1 or 2 Xbox exclusive. Currently I'm playing Dragon Age VG, the newly released Dragon Quest Remake. And am starting Silent Hill 2 on it later on. So.. it does have games? And that's just what's on my plate now, not all the games I've played on it over 4 years

I didn't even get into Xbox upgrades just because I feel like this generation overall has had so few exclusives on that end that you could just still keep your Xbox from last generation and pick up Game Pass and you'll be fine. PlayStation has definitely done better to this point and the console Generation War
Whatever the PS5 gets (and I agree, it hasn't been much compared to previous gens), then the Xbox should get less than half of it. First Xbox I've never owned and I don't feel as if I'm missing out on anything.

IGN gets a D- for this video for completely misrepresenting the current state of consoles. Helldivers 2, Astro Bot and FFVII Rebirth are the best games this year and they are all console exclusive to PS. I thought you all would look at the actual software lineups with the ratings given. Also please consider giving Akeem Lawanson a shot at hosting Podcast Beyond! regularly if Max is always going to be extremely cynical about PS.

I own both consoles and love them both for different reasons. I think a C- for PS5 is off base. 66 million units is an unlikely sales figure for a console that is only slightly above average. Best place to play PS4 games… Really?!? Had Sony not shipped games playable on PS4, they would have been crushed for abandoning the previous generation instal base. Clearly they were smart for not doing that. Sony continues to mostly crank out great first party games.
Xbox continues to be the most consumer friendly and hands down the best deal for console gaming. I’m loving that I have played Starfield, Diablo IV, COD BO6, and soon, Indiana Jones and Avowed without dropping a penny beyond my game pass sub. Both consoles get an A from me.

Ok what games were good on PS in the last 4 years?, Foamstars, Forspoken Quantum Error or Concord? If I’m honest and somebody wants to buy an Xbox or a PlayStation this year and they don’t have either one and they have to decide I think you have to ask a few questions but the majority they would be better served getting an Xbox, but they will want a PlayStation. I hope that makes sense. People want to go where the crowd is, but if you got Xbox, you could play game pass all day and not get bored, I don’t just say that because I have an Xbox it’s because that’s what I’ve seen people do. Borrow my Xbox that was collecting dust he wanted to play college football on it I said check out Game Pass on my account. He nearly lost his mind when he saw what was on there. This was one of our student analyst at the facility who likes college football and didn’t have a next generation platform to play on. Didn’t want to spend the money to go next generation literally this situation we were talking about PlayStation or Xbox. he said I could get with Game Pass I never knew this existed.

So no Xbox did not loose 4 gens in a row. Sony won this gen but not as much as they did the last gen. Xbox gain back a lot of ground. And we can tell how Sony reacted with the lackluster ps5 pro.

They don't explain very well that Gamepass is not a strong value proposition for everyone. It depends on what you want to play. I have a handheld pc and a playstation and typically only subscribe to PC gamepass one month per year because there are so few games I want on gamepass.

As an owner of the PS5, it’s really just a PS4 pro mark 2. The PS5 pro is a PS4 pro mark 3. There really isn’t any difference in the games beyond nicer graphics. It works on the same theory as a 3DS and a NEW 3DS that played 3DS games and then about 3 exclusives.
I don’t own an XBox, but it looks like the same story.

PS5 only has Astrobot / Demon Souls / Stellar Blade and most if not all of those are coming to PC. Xbox doesnt exist anymore with exclusives since PC exists, at least the remaining missing PlayStation exclusives still locked to PS3 / Metal Gear Solid 4 and PS4 Infamous Second Sun / Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection / Bloodborne / other important games im forgetting will be become playable as ShadPS4 emulation matures.
