    Minimalist buttons is a positive for me. I like to keep my cars immaculate and the least amount of dust traps the better. Most of the features buried in menus rarely get changed anyway. Toggling rear windows is the type of thing that will come naturally after the second time.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Год назад +1

      Thanks mate!
      Haven't driven EQE SUV, but that is a much smaller car than this. Based on looks and interior layout and comfort, my money is still on for the EX90. That's why I have one on order, and not an EQS SUV. This is also WAY cheaper specced than the comparable EQS SUV.

  • @thechubbymagpie2018
    @thechubbymagpie2018 Год назад +4

    Regarding the Lidar. Volvo uses a much more high tech (and expensive) one from Luminar than what is in the Nio. So cant just be compared based on that both have them. Then also as you know, its down to the software.
    Have obiosuly not driven the EX90, but the ET7 and ES9. Those drive supports are truly terrible even compared to any older Volvo, Mercedes or what other car with a decent driver support.
    And the LiDAR in the EX90 is not mainly to make the driver assist better. That the cameras/radars is enough for. It is to be able to increase the safety of the support and to use even higher level of assist in the future, once legislation allow.
    On another note, great review!

    Yes it is a pretty car and have previously owned both the XC60 and XC90 but as for the thing on the roof makes it look like a London taxi and imo look awful. I’m not a fan of the split rear lights either and prefer the all in one light configuration of old. I hate that the switchgear has changed and to follow VW is a huge mistake. You’ll definitely need all of that driverless functionality because you’ll spend all of your time looking through menus to do anything 🤦‍♂️

  • @Exodos1234
    @Exodos1234 Год назад +1

    Car looks promising. There are some points though i have some objections. The position of Lidar sensors is a bug collector in warm months in southern climates and might block some functions, remains to be seen how it will perform, also it looks like a hump... Second is the headlight unit, it looks sci fi tech the opening and closing of the headlights BUT it is a useless function and costly one, too many moving parts in a headlight whose primary function is to point the light and make our roads visible, not useless greetings and so on since if something goes bad i guess it will cost a fortune to replace outside guarantee and some people keep their cars for extended periods and not just until guarantee expires. Also during daytime lights are in open or closed position? It they are in closed position and you have to signal someone with the high beams for example to avoid an accident during daytime then it is a respectable time to open up, flash and close again... Pointless. Cars should be functional not a light show off when you park or when you leave the parking spot...

    • @davidcottrell570
      @davidcottrell570 5 месяцев назад

      There’s a number of web references to the ZKW sourced lights. They are tested to open in less that 500ms, and the mechanism for the moving marker lights is supposed to last 300K cycles minimum. That said, all LED light nacelles are expensive to replace if damaged. My XC40 has pivoting low beams, but is designed to last the life of the car FWIW.

    I think they oversharpened their sword on this one. Lost the front grille that has so much equity with Volvo - way too plain and not distinct now. I could eventually accept the rear design, I think it's dramatic...but probably in a good way. The more sloping rear is a hard 'no', that's what gave the 3rd row it's roominess AND was another distinct Volvo feature that separated from the other SUVs. No buttons - would have appreciated some redundancies and relying on just a screen is nice in theory. In an effort to go so sleek and modern, it just stretched a little too far. My next Volvo will probably be another XC90 hybrid and wait to see what the EV market evolves to and how this particular vehicle ends up fitting in.
