    Awesome review, Kris! Huge fan of the Volvo XC90; we drove the 2004 XC90 2.5T for 18 years and absolutely loved it. Not a single accident. I sold it this year for The 2022 Volvo C40 ultimate recharge P8 🤩. Can’t wait to configure the EX90 next year…I did my order in as soon as Jim Rowan was wrapping up the EX90 reveal! 🙌🔥☝️😎

    That's a good spec, but there's couple of things I'd choose differently. IMO the 21" wheels look better, they probably offer a bit more range or at least a more comfortable ride, so why spend more on 22s. Pilot assist has been pretty useless on Volvos so far, it just tries to steer you into the ditch at every bus stop. They also charge way too much for it on the EX90, so I'd skip that as well. The color palette offered is pretty restrained, but Vapour Grey was the launch color, it's metallic and they don't charge extra for it, so that's a good choice as well.

    Congrats Kris! This vehicle is so much better looking than the Tesla! I custom ordered and took delivery of my 3rd XC90 back in June, 2022 XC90 Inscription Extended Range T8 Recharge (pine gray with maroon brown interior). Replaced my 2021 XC90 Recharge and it's been a great vehicle, able to drive it mostly on Pure mode and the gas kicks in on larger trip. The new EX90 is beautiful for sure. The upgrade to the batteries for the Volvo plug-in hybrids has been fantastic and it drives much better than the prior battery. Being in the northeastern part of the US here, the infrastructure for fast charging electric vehicles is not there yet. So for now, the plug-in hybrid works best for me. I do hope Volvo continues to make the plug in hybrid for a while since I'm not sure when the infrastructure will be in the US to make owning an electric vehicle practical for me.

I did not get the chance to configure the car yet but I think I will with a fairly basic spec. The dealership with contact me this time next year to go through final pricing, lease and finance options. Did you consider the Nio ES7? Not a 7 seater though, but beats Volvo with a lot more computing power. 1015 TFlops vs Volvos 280. Not to mention, when new hardware comes in later Nio generations, you can use your existing Nio and get it upgraded, so everything in the car is up to date hardware wise. I also do belive Nio has some luxury features only found in much higher priced ones. 653 HP and 850Nm is not bad either ( 0-100 in 3.8 s ) - It has al the equipment one would need. 4k frontcamera, plus the highest resolution in the buisness now, Guardian mode, aka Teslas Sentry and a lot more crazy features. I do like the EX90 apperance, but you do overpay in that brand, with all the extras. 1 year waiting time is long, it will start to get outdated when it arrives I think.

      The dash layout is close to the Polestar 3 but layout isn't the same as detail. I think the current XC90 was a great car but time moves on. I wish I could afford one! Beautiful SUV! I am not surprise because its a Volvo and every generation of the XC90 has been stunning and unique. As a long time Volvo buyer that's all I know. I am very disappointed that the brand that sell there cars on the slogan "For People", seems to have change that slogan to "For Rich People".
    Its outrageous that Volvo is charging 80,000 US dollars! Its very sad that everyday hardworking people will not be able to afford this technological marvel. I've had several XC90s and price wise they cover a huge spectrum with different trim levels that could fit everyone's budget according to their income level.
    Nowadays when you start talking about electrification, automakers need to start thinking about the general population of people who wants to go electric but cant afford too! These electric cars are only being built for the super wealthy. I believe I am affluent but paying 80,000 US dollars for a EX90 sends the wrong message to Volvos long time buyers who paid a slight premium but not an outrageous price for the safety and durability that Volvo cars provided is being priced out. I just dont want Volvo to go down the pretentious and ostentatious route the Germans brands have been selling the world for years!
    Volvos were always about the intellectual and hippie sect of people who wanted to be different but now I'm beginning to think Volvo is turning their back on the group of people who made the brand into what they are through the decades here in the states. Only time will tell if I will buy another Volvo but at the rate they are going electric and the way the auto industry is pricing out hardworking everyday people who cant afford electric cars, makes it very doubtful which saddens me.

      The next car will be a more affordable Volvo, probably called EX30, and they hinted at this car at the end of the EX90 presentation. You always go with the most expensive, usually not affordable for many car, to introduce first and not the budget car.
      And Volvo can't go on its past on past values. Today's market reflects today's values and if Volvo stays locked in the past they won't be a profitable company.

      @@sjohnson7879 Volvo has moved upmarket. They've done so little by little with each generation. The 760 of the 1980s moved them upmarket from the 260s. Then the 960s in the 1990s moved them a little bit more upmarket. The s80 in 1999 then moved them more up market. 2007, under Ford the new s80 and v70 plus XC90 moved them more upmarket. Then a big push upmarket came under Geely in 2015 with the XC90 and s90. They're still Volvo. But now they are in the premium/luxury category.
      I don't think they're trying to be Tesla or BMW. But they are trying to be an all-EV sustainable Swedish brand and they do overlap with BMW and are cross-shopped with some BMWs. They are still safe well-built cars. And they are going to at least make an entry-level XC30 for people who aren't wealthy enough to drive the big EX90 or a similar class sedan version when it comes out.

    • @sjohnson7879
      @sjohnson7879 Год назад

      @@benjaminsmith2287Let's see what happens. We both have a different of opinion and that's fine. I've owned several Volvos from the S80, 240 and currently my XC90 1st and 2nd generations models so I know the automakers history very well. Volvo doesnt have the same brand recognition like Mercedes and BMW, where they can price there cars at a higher price point. Volvo is a luxury niche brand so they dont have the same profitability like the German brands. I do understand Volvo is evolving with the times as they should but trying to price your cars like the Germans isnt a smart move. For every 1 car Volvo sells the Germans brands will sale 10 cars more than Volvo.
      Most Mercedes and BMW car buyers do not buy Volvos thats a known fact. Some may cross shop but in very limited numbers. The German brands for most of the buying public has a cachet that most feel, Volvo doesnt have and that's the beauty of Volvo, it's not pretentious, it's simple and pragmatic. I know alot of people who own German luxury brands and they all say Volvos are nice but it's still not a Mercedes. And for me that's fine when I hear those comments.
      In my opinion Volvo is chasing Tesla. It's very obvious and that's not a bad thing. Every automaker is chasing Tesla and mimicking there sales strategies and everything else. Tesla has set the automotive landscape ablaze with there exuberant success so it's not a bad thing for Volvo but I just dont want them to lose what made them successful for all of these years which is making well built appropriately priced vehicles. Sustainability and creating environmentally friendly vehicles is amazing and I am glad Volvo is going that route!
      I can afford an EX90 if I really want too but I'm not paying 80,000 dollars for a car. Maybe they will have more trim levels that will fit into everyone's budget which I'm positive they will but for now I will keep driving my 2021 XC90 R design which is awesome! I could easily trade up to an EX90 but nope, not paying that much for a car. I do plan on going electric once the infrastructure supports the transition from ICE to electric. And you're right they will have an ex60 and ex30 coming to the market. Let's just hope they're priced reasonably.
      And I hope and pray Volvo would work on their reliability issues that have been plaguing there latest generation of cars which keeps them at the bottom of consumer reports and JD Power surveys which is unusual for Volvo. Let's hope the transition from ICE to electric will fix that one problem for them. Making nice, eye catching cars are nice but it's even better when its coupled with good reliability. I've been lucky so far, no issues with my XC90 but that's not that case for most I've had the pleasure of talking too.
