This was a trip through my memory banks. I had this truck about 55 years ago. Received it on my birthday and Father worked at a dairy so now it's very special to me.
Based off of the International business body delivery vans. There's one in St. Joe Arkansas. Its a old Milk Truck to. Foremost Milk. The real life size van. Hasn't moved in decades. You do beautiful work on restoring these old toy trucks of yesteryear. That one must have seen lots of miles in years past. Wonder how many boys ran that truck around and wore holes thru Levi or Sears Tough Skin Jeans. Mine were like that. My nephews put the last hundred thousand miles on 3 Tonka dump trucks and a Tonka Winnebago camper.
@@salahsworkshop6532 Hello! My nephews wore the tires bald on those Tonka trucks and Camper. The camper actually had rust holes in it. Oh they were beat up. But they held up.
We had the real International Van back in the 60's and 70's. I remember riding home on the Engine cowling while my dad sat on milk crates to drive it home. He converted it into a Camper/ hunting van that we went on many trips with. Many wonderful experiences. The body finally rotted off the frame and my dad made a snow plow out of the frame. Last I knew, the engine was still going, well over a million miles on it.
Your ease at working with small parts wearing gloves, the choices you make in the toys you restore and the colors you choose, the precision involved in gently removing and reinstalling parts, your fearlessness in using the riveting tool without scratching the paint- you sir, are amazing!
Joe I Didnt Know That This Tonka Milk truck Existed!!! But Look How Perfectly You Have Remade It!!! It Truly A Work Of Your Love For What You Are Doing!!! Thank You So Very Much For Sharing It With Us!!!
Brings back memories of having milk from glass bottles at home and school as well as home delivery. I see you have new tires, so many small details to renovate. Amazed at the equipment that is used in your work shop. Enjoyed reading the comments from other viewers. Great job and skills. Thanks for sharing.
I have 4 of these carnation milk trucks in my collection all are in great original condition. I also have 1 original box in good condition. You did an excellant job.
Now that was a toy that's been through numerous kids. Wonderful Job of restoring it to its original condition. This might sound funny, but when you first displayed the pre-restored van, I thought it looked like the original Aerosmith tour van from the one episode of American Pickers.
Great job! You can use a mixture of soapy water for the decals. Just spray the area and you can easily slide the decal around into position, then squeegee out the excess water...
Great restoration. Why didn't you use your 3D printer and make seats, steering wheel, crates and milk bottles? Love how it came out. Take care and stay safe. ❤😺❤
What a beautiful restoration you did on this milk truck. It's a pity it didn't come with any interior parts such as a steering wheel or driver's seat, even some milk crates and bottles would have been nice to see when you open the doors. Aside from that, it's a lovely thing to look at now.
Planned Obsolescence is the motto of the industry today. Planned obsolescence in industrial design and economics is a policy of planning or designing a product with an artificially limited (!) useful life, so that it becomes obsolete (i.e., unfashionable, or no longer 'functional' ) after a certain period of time. The rationale behind this strategy is to generate long-term sales volume by reducing the time between repeat purchases. > THIS mentality brought us also to the crisis where in today! AND mountains of new garbage.
@@Keplerb-od1lr least of my worries right now. Yes I had steel tonka dump trucks when I was a child and they were tough. Used to use them as roller skates. Still the quality of toys doesn't concern me right now.
Debt is why. Old days a person lived on their earning so things were made to last and banks didnt just throw money at everyone. Today everything is disposable so that people buy more and spiral further into debt.
Holy Cow! Great job. One of my favorites of yours. So, what do you do with your restorations? Do you have a room in your house where you display them? You could open a mini museum!
If you come across a 7-up truck like these models you recreate, Please do so...had one back in 1968/69.... Appreciation certainly. Thanks great works👍💯🏁
In the 1970s, a local bakery maintained a fleet of delivery trucks that looked much like this, except that they were painted orange. They could still be seen being repurposed some ten years after "retirement".

Very cool truck. The International Metro is a cool looking truck, so it's neat that Tonka made one.

Assuming the spot-welded body, you did a hell of a job! It turned out to be a marvelous restoration!

Hi bro 👋👋👋 good to see you 🤝🤝🤝 awesome restoration Tonka milk truck 👍👍👍💣👌🏽
I used to drive an old 50-something DIVCO when I was a milkman. Great memories. Sunny Meadows Dairy, Chelmsford, MA.

Ótima atividade pra quem tá isolado em casa por causa do Covid-19.
Fabulous!!!
Absolutely wonderful!
Good job man. It looks like there used to be a seat or something where the driver would be.
I googled the toy and from the looks of it on worthpoint.com, I don't think it had seats. I could be wrong though.
Ahh, bring me back to a time when milk was delivered to your home, contented cows existed and it wasn't illegal to shake hands with someone.
Yes. Thank you.
so you shake hands i think i have been shaking somthing diferent i was wondering why they had smiles on there faces all these years 🤔

Someone else asked as well. I assume that you pull images from the web and print your own stickers. What do you use to print them with?

Its missing the number on top I think it was 707. I think the truck is so cute.
