      My dealership has a lifetime guarantee on the 2015 1500 4x4 I bought. They won’t let me get a six inch lift or put 33’s on because it will void the lifetime warranty . The only lift I could do was a leveling kit! Sucks

    With this lift, the front tires poke out more than the rear tires… Possibly spacers could take care of this, but I would like to take care of this with new wheels. Question is, what would be an appropriate difference in offset to end up with an approximate equal poke with front and rear tires?

      I have to agree with Marcus. I have a 2014 ( basically same wheel wells). I have a leveling kit with 33x12.5x18 wheels. I like a little fatter tire compared to stock so that’s why I went with 12.5. I have no rub at full turn. You mentioned you would like the tire to stick out of the wheel well a little. This all plays into tire offset and backspacing. Mine are 0 offset with 5 in back spacing and it sticks out about 1 in with 12.5 tires. I would also encourage you to visit Extreme customs website and view their gallery. You can put in all kinds of options and it will have people’s photos with those options.

    • @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC

      You definitely don't need to break the bank on a big brake kit. If you're looking for an improvement that'll make stopping larger tires easier, the Tow & Haul kit from PowerStop works really well. Here's a front and rear kit : www.americantrucks.com/power-stop-z36-extreme-truck-tow-brake-rotor-pad-kit-front-rear-14117-sil.html

I just got an 8 inch BDS coilover kit installed and the stabilitrak and 4WD occasionally pop up on my DIC but not on the actual gauge cluster. Also, when I have cruise control on, sometimes it shuts off for no apparent reason. Have you heard of problems like this after a lift is installed? Thanks for the info.

      I put the 2 1/2" RC leveling kit on an 03 Sierra, and cranked the torsion keys all the way and put 35x12.5r18 tires on factory offset rims from a 2013 chevy 1500. I had to cut a little plastic on front and back fender wells with a grinder and cutoff wheel but it worked. The back of the truck sat a little lower so I put an add-a-leaf on to level it out. One summer later the fresh front end job was toast. It is too harsh of an angle on the front end running torsion keys maxxed out. That's why they give all custom steering components on the 6" lift. I ended up running the stock 31.6" tires and rebuilding the front end. Now my truck has a rough ride with no difference in tire size, but at least the truck height is where it should be. I can't see buying 33" tires to gain .7" of ground clearance, if i did, it would be more for looks. The other thing to consider with going up in tire size is gearing.The 35's were ok running stock 3.73 gears but you definitely notice the loss of power when taking off from a start or towing. I could still get the 35's to burn rubber with the 5.3l but I am running a cold air intake and a cat delete with true dual exhaust which probably makes the 4l60e the weak link.

    • @pwnskater
      @pwnskater 3 года назад +1

      its not just the circumference of the tire. its width and offset too. i have a 5 inch lift with 33x12.5 with a -18 offset and i get a slight rub full lock backing up. so although your statement may not be wrong, but its misinformed when you dont mention what width tires you ran on your leveling kit or what offset on your rims. its not just the lift and the tire size that matters. end of story

      i have a 2.5" leveling kit on a 2014 gmc sierra 1500 and i run 33x12.5 with a -18 offset as well and i rub just a little bit if im at full lock and hit a bump. its just in the back which is an easy fix if it really bugs you that bad. i took my vallance (i think its called) off my front bumper so idk if it would rub up there or not. But it doesnt bug me enough to get out the heat gun lol.

  • @colbyscott9822
    @colbyscott9822 3 года назад +3

    You talked about flex a couple of times but there's nothing about this kit that would increase articulation. You need longer struts up front and probably a different set of leaf springs in the back. Simply putting 6" spacer front and rear will not increase flex at all because you still have the same limitations at play, you're just taller now.

    I have the same set up on my 16 Silverado but I do feel like I have a loss of power and it doesn’t tow as good , will Changing the gear ratio bring that back to stock performance if so what gear ratio do you recommend?

    • @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC
      @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC  Год назад +1

      Changing the gearing in the rear end will definitely help! Hard to make any specific recommendation, because it depends on what you want to accomplish, and what gear ratio your truck is currently running. Check out your truck's RPO option codes (sticker in the glovebox) and you can see what you've got now. That will give you an idea of where you need to go as far as upgrading. 3.73s or 4.10s are a popular choice for running 33 inch tires on these trucks, but again, that will depend on what you've got currently and what you want to do with the truck. It won't be a cheap upgrade, but if you want to get rid of that sluggishness you feel, especially when towing, upping that gear ratio will make a world of difference.

      There is a good amount of cutting for this kit. The big thing is that a lot needs to be lowered (crossmember, sway bar, differential) so the cutting makes way for those drop brackets and relocation brackets. After cutting there is no welding, but painting is recommended to cover the bare metal to prevent rust. It's an involved process, but with the right tools it's doable. We should have a full install video out soon! - Adam

    • @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC
      @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC  5 лет назад

      Smaller wheels like 17's won't clear the bottom of the tie rod end stud. Since a lot of the suspension positioning has changed due to the drop brackets, the stud rubs the inside of the barrel of the rim. Now a lift kit that doesn't use such large drop brackets might not have that same issue. Also, 20's look just awesome. Hope that makes sense! - Adam

      I have a 2018 Silvy Z71 Crew with a 2.25" TrailMaster Leveling kit and easily clear 33x12.50 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 18x9 +1 Fuel Krank wheels with no trimming or rubbing lock to lock and they fill the wheel wells just right, the tire side walls show about an inch out of wells (pretty beefy tires). Just make sure you don't have too much negative offset on the wheels. Trust me you don't need a 4" with 33's, it's a waste of money and you'll have too much wheel well space and 6" needs 35's to look right.

      @chadd3207 5 лет назад +1

      @@Kirbykfed89 If you're installing a leveling kit 33x12.50 fill the wells better. The 285/70's will rub without a leveling kit so you'll have to do extensive cutting and it may still rub, that's the size I was looking at before I went with the 33x12.50 being a bit taller and wider with no trimming or rubbing after the 2.25" level. It's just right and 2.25" is the most you want to go with unless you want to frequently replace balljoints because the angle is too much for them and the CV joints as well.

    • @thebigv8644
      @thebigv8644 4 года назад +1

      MrInzombia that combination wouldn’t work on an F150 either. It’s not the 33” that’s the problem, its the offset and the fact that those 305/50/20 are 12 inches wide. You can put a 285 (32.8) on a factory Chevy rim and there is no issues what so ever.

    why do you people not understand that the "Square" wheel wells have absolutely NOTHING to do with what size tires you can put on a GM truck, the only thing thing that matters is the shortest diameter of the opening and the offset of that diameter to the center point of the hub, if anything a "Square" wheel well is actually a much bigger opening than a perfectly circular one of the same diameter
