Robert Z'Dar had a disease called Cherubism which caused his jaw to look that way. It got worse the older he got. He was amazing as the villain Maniac Cop
I wonder why it is called that.
It looks nothing like what is described in Ezekiel chapter 1 and in Jeremiah. 😁
Maniac Cop films❤❤❤
RIP.
19 mins in when she said that guys face weirded her out I 🤣 No shit!?😆
Love how your daughter knows she’s the star of this whole shindig and just casually enters to her rightful applause
If by daughter you mean technical difficulties dressed as a ninja turtle, then I agree ;)
I love when she makes her appearance. She watches a little before she makes her presence known.
Both of them are adorable.
Tango and Cash is the pinnacle of cheesy over the top 80's action films. I absolutely loved it.
They could have made it a bit better cheese though ... the whole car thing was just a wasted opportunity, but then Knight Rider did loads of jumping (which clearly broke the car every time) and people watched it.
Rallye cars actually can do jumps and then continue driving ... but a Trans AM is just a stupid american car.
Fittingly enough, the pinnacle of cheesy 80's action movies was released in the last week of December in 1989, making Tango & Cash officially the last movie released in the 80's.
@Muck006 You upset about something sweetie? You may not like Trans Am's. But at least they aren't made in germany.
This came on the heels of lethal weapon 2 which was the pinnacle of buddy cop movies at that time,i felt like this was a let down in the genre
@@Muck006 They used a trans am because they were cheap, so they could buy like a 10 of them to trash them during car chases.
It ends on a freeze frame of Stallone and Russell high-fiving each other. Doesn't get much more 80's than that. 🏆
Biggest crime of "Maniac Cop" series is that they had Bruce Campbell go up against Robert Z'Dar in *two* films, and neither ended with an epic chin fight.
Holy shit. Never even crossed my mind. 🤣
@@jackburton1455 and they never crossed the chins. RIP to robby, and rip to a moment that sadly never happend.
This movie has the most cheesy lines per minute of any movie from the era, and I love it. A close second would be the Last Boy Scout.
I love the last boy scout.
Except TLBS will always hold up to the test of time.
T&C is a fun 80s rompfest.
The Last Boy Scout is awesome!
@@bigsoos fax
Last Boy Scout is phenomenal!!!
Z'dars jaw was due to a medical issue he was born with. The fact he made a career despite (because?) of it was admirable.
Kinda like Jay Leno .....
"a rare congenital condition called Cherubism" i guess as a baby you look like an angel?
Jaylenoism
@@frankjsosexy
Cherubim seem to be a class of spirit beings and don't look anything like what pop culture makes them out to be.
I'm a stickler against Biblical myths.
He always kept his chin up.
Mr. "It's on my bucket list"
Mrs. "It's Probably gonna stay there"
Mr. "So you're saying there's a chance"
A lot of people insulted Z'dar's appearance, but he always took it on the chin.
Ha Ha!
Ha.... He did have some pretty good acting chops
Good one! : )
Very droll. 😂
He was such a good actor, he subbed for Uga the Georgia Bulldog when he was sick.
Robert Z'Dar is an icon. RIP.
Robert Z'Dar had cherubism, a medical condition resulting in an enlarged jawline. And I said "had" because he passed away in 2015. Before acting, he was also a police officer, commercial jingle writer and a Chippendales dancer =P Also, after watching Party at Kitty and Stud's, a porno movie Stallone made in the 70's (this was before his breakthrough with Rocky and when he was still a struggling actor), yeah....Russell wasn't wrong about the Pee Wee part =P XD And Mr. Movies, that's Brion James, from Blade Runner and 48 HRS., but he has played many villain roles in other movies and TV-shows such as Tales from the Crypt.
Didn't Brion James play a demonic pizza in a cheesy (pun intended) horror film at some point?
@@jackburton1455 Not that I know of. But there's a movie where Gary Busey plays a killer gingerbread man in Gingerdead Man 😜
@@jackburton1455 He was in House 3 as an executed killer who comes back through electricity. You're thinking House 4, in which Kane Hodder was the pizza with a talking face.
@@JW666 gotta love that madman Gary.
@@Emulous79 ahh. Now I remember. Not watched the house series since I was a young kid.
Props for the 'City Slickers' reference! Too many people don't know that movie.
The guy with the huge jaw was also Maniac Cop.
I love that they got Jack Palance for this. He's the king of over actors. I've always seen this as more of a parody on buddy cop movies. If you haven't seen Big Trouble in Little China, it is one of Kurt Russel's best.
Grandma Christi here. Yep they sure have watched Big Trouble because we requested it lol.
it really does feel like it was satirical but the producers and directors changed it to being straight, and so it comes off really odd, like it feels like a 16 year old boy wrote it.
It wasn't always that way - He was chillingly perfect in "Shane"
Jack Palance is always a treat not that I've seen it but I've heard he knocked it out of the park as Dracula.
You see him in Without Warning? Hilarious. He screams "Allliiiiieeeeeeennnnnn!"
Trivia: Patrick Swayze was originally cast as Cash but dropped to star in Road House.
It's ridiculous and a simple pleasure, but I love when the daughter comes in to a sitcom crowd cheer. 😄
At this point it’s actually very annoying and distracting.
Love the crowd noise for your daughter
1. This movie is so underrated. I'm hoping to see other people do this one. CLASSIC!😎
2. There are tons of clever quips in this movie. The BEST is: Stallone, "Rambo is a pussy."
3. Brion James played Leon in the 1984 Blade Runner with Harrison Ford.
4. Clint Howard.
5. A great movie that has rapid fire one liners is "The Last Boy Scout" with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayens. Seriously cool death included😎
The actor you two were so curious about is Brion James and you might familiar with him from films such as Blade Runner(1982), 48 Hrs., or The Fifth Element (1997) but he sadly passed away some time in the early 2000's.
Robert Z'Dar suffered from a genetic disorder called Cherubism which causes excessive bone growth in the lower face, which was the cause of his enormous jawline. - according to IMDB Trivia
This was one of the very last 80s movies to be released during Christmas 1989. When Tango says, “I hate Danish”, it was a reference to Sly’s Danish ex-wife Brigitte Nielsen from Cobra, Rocky IV, Creed II, and Red Sonja; who he was married to from 85-87 but her affair with Tony Scott during filming of Beverly Hills Cop II ended both hers and Scott’s respective marriages. The guy that plays the ponytailed Englishman is the late Brion James best known from Blade Runner and a handful of Walter Hill’s films. Real life ex-convict turned actor Eddie Bunker plays Cash’s captain, aka Mr. Blue in Reservoir Dogs and Jonah in Runaway Train which was also directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. Jabba The Hutt guy was the sweating doctor from Total Recall and Michael Jeter aka Dell from The Green Mile was the sound recording guy. The FUBAR acronym was also used in Saving Private Ryan. The RV from hell was a modified 88-89 Chevy C/K series Silverado pickup and the Suburban/Tahoe wouldn’t take on the boxy Silverado frame until 1992. The music was by Harold Faltermeyer best known for Beverly Hills Cop, Fletch, Top Gun and The Running Man.
"Tango & Cash, Tango & Cash!!" I love this overlooked 80's buddy cop movie gem with the legendary Jack Palance!! So glad it made its way onto your channel and first!! You picked THE right highlight off the bat!! You guys MUST watch Young Guns & Tombstone!!
Young Guns is the only Western movie i'll go back to watch time after time. The cast is pure gold and the sound track is (not as good as Young Guns 2) great. Visually well shot. Certainly an overlooked classic.
@@kamanah1800 the movie or soundtrack compared to Young Guns 2?
@@genghisgalahad8465 The soundtrack to Young Guns 2 is better. Young Guns is the better movie.
One of those forgotten gems of the 80's. I love when Stallone insults Rambo. Classic.
Pussy = insult?
@@dallesamllhals9161 In the 80's and 90's calling a man a pussy was the same as saying he was weak or he was a coward.
@@jasonfitak9521 NO SHIT? "FunnyJack"...
@@dallesamllhals9161 It was a very common insult when I was in school in the 80's and 90's.

“Settle down Curley”. Looks around sooooo proud of herself. I loved it !! 😂😂
Love the applause when the kid shows up! I can imagine in ten years when you're reviewing Tango and Cash 4, her coming in and saying 'can I get the keys to the truck? And twenty bucks?'
Lol.
Robert Z'dar's chin and jaw were real. It was the result of a disorder, the name of which I cannot remember. I think the word "cherub" was in the name of the condition. It grew as he aged.
Cherubism.
Robert Z'Dar (chin guy). Yes his real chin, born that way due to a medical condition. Always played a pretty good bad guy in movies and TV shows. Sadly passed away in 2015. This movie is the ultimate 80s cheese action flick. You are right most people regard it as a nostalgia flick but still a favorite among us 80s teens and kids.
Z'Dar condition is genetic Cherubism , causes prominence in the lower portion in the face , with chin like that what else would you do , than acting ?
Other bad guy , Kurt Russel calls him immigrant , Brion James , was from California , died 1999 at age 54 , also heart attack . The guy for 1980s buddy cop movies .
Brion James was also in , 48 h 1982 , Nick Nolte , Eddie Murphy , Red Heat 1988 , Arnold S , Jim Belushi , Armed and Dangerous 1986 , John Candy , Eugene Levy .
Of course 1989 Jack Palance did villains roles in Batman and Tango & Cash .
"Midnight Run" with Robert Deniro and Charles Grodin is a great romp of a film. One of my fav Deniro Roles.
And the introduction of a very young Teri Hatcher.
RIP Bobby Zadar. From Wikipedia, "Due to his cherubism, a medical condition resulting in an enlarged jawline, Z'dar had a unique and easily recognizable look with a slightly sinister appearance, which aided his career as he usually portrayed villains."
My favorite quote from this film, and it had stuck with me for decades: "You broke THAT jaw?"
Awesome movie.. when you saw it as a teen in the cinema.. and also the first time I saw Terry Hatcher 😍 I believe even before Louis and Clark..?
When I got it on Laserdisc I saw the open sequence with sly over and over again.. with a good sound system, It sounds sweet.. I love this movie..!
The English henchman is Brion James. Some of his notable movies are Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, 48 hours, and a lot of others. As others have said Z'dar's chin and jaw are real.
Robert J. Zdarsky had an enlarged jawline, caused by a rare congenital condition called cherubism, that gave him a somewhat menacing visage. He began acting professionally in 1984 and ultimately appeared in 121 films.
Two of my favorite iconic actors in the same movie, Robert Z'Dar and Michael J Pollard!
"They stole Marty McFly's pickup truck!" Fun fact: when a young a tor named Michael Fox was joining the Screen Actor's Guild, he learned there was already another actor with that name, so he added the "J" and necame known as Michael J Fox. He said he was inspired by Michael J Pollard.
Add Nighthawks (1981) to your Stallone watchlist. It's a pretty good movie, quite overlooked by reactors.
She finally watched the best movie after all these years!
omg lol
The dialogue in Tango and Cash is the same kind of lines in Craig R. Baxley’s Action Jackson, I Come In Peace, Mark L. Lester’s Showdown In Little Tokyo and Rapid Fire. It’s like the same groups of people in the writers room besides the credited writers.
This is by far one of my Top 5 Best movies EVER made. Those were the best years of our lives.
Also, one reason jailbreaks are often shown in the rain is because it tends to be more visually dynamic. Any way to raise the tension, you know. Plus, it often insinuates that the people breaking out chose a night like that to make it harder for cameras and guards to spot them.
The rain also covers a lot of the noises.
The whole of the opening truck scene was lifted almost shot for shot (Though with a bus in place of the truck) from the 1985 Jackie Chan movie 'Police Story', way better film than this, but this still has its charm.
The best cop duo is Turner and Hooch!
The guest appearances are hilarious 😂
These guys had fantastic chemistry and the action was incredible.
And Stallone must be wearing lifts. Kurt is 5’11 yet he’s face to face with Stallone who is about 5’8”.
Now you HAVE to watch Police Story starring Jackie Chan. That whole shooting at the semi sequence at the beginning is lifted from there 😆. Also, LAST major release of the 80s (December 22, 1989) and you can tell 😆
The best part of this movie is talking afterwards about the most cheesy bit.... It knew what it was and they leaned into it big time lol.
13:54 I swear my brother did a fart that sounded exactly the same one night we were sharing a room and we both looked at each other and laughed cause it sounded exactly like the one here and all the movies of the 80s we had seen together. LOL
Robert Z'dar had an enlarged jawline, caused by a rare congenital condition called cherubism. It has nothing to do with prothetics, surgery or anything else. It is totally natural and awesome. He was Maniac Cop if you wanted to see anything else he was in. Aside from him the movie is okay just a classic 80's cheese fest with Kurt Russell do his best Martin Riggs impression.
Ponytail is probably best known as Leon from "Blade Runner". He was American actor Brion James who passed away at 54 years old.
The applause when your daughter comes in is a hilarious touch.
Favorite one-liner - "is this the way you screen all your guests?"
So lame it goes right back to hilarious, and the timing & delivery are perfect.
Robert Z'Dar had cherubism, a genetic disorder that resulted in elongation and prominence of the jaw (usually lower jaw). It wasn't often dangerous, just resulted in a distinctive appearance, though it sometimes resulted in swelling that required surgeries to correct.
Favourite line:
Tango: I broke his jaw
Cash: You broke THAT jaw!
she knows her trucks. the truck is actually a 1988 Chevrolet k-2500 Silverado (GMT 480) I had the magazine with the article about the making of the truck. they aded a little bit of everything on the truck.
This has to be one of my favorite movies I ever saw in the theater. I own the DVD and watch it at least once a year along with "Running Scared" with Billy Crystal.
I always recognised Jack Palance from Rilpeys Believe it or Not. I must be old.
The British bad guy is Brion James. He was in "Blade Runner", and "The Fifth Element", and a TON of other movies, and he's not actually British. Great actor, rest in peace.
also 48 hours and another 48 hours
The actor with the big chin, Robert Z'Dar had Cherubism, a rare genetic disorder that causes prominence in the lower portion in the face.
The RV is a Chevrolet K-2500 Silverado. But hats off, Mrs Movies knows her cars.
22:00: the late great Brion James .. he was in Blade Runner as well as many other 80s action flicks .
So it's canon that Mr. Movies can't even make cereal for himself, lol.
His name is Robert Z'dar, and that is his real chin. Looks like a cartoon character
Hi there from the UK. The henchman with the English accent is Brion James who played Leon in Bladerunner
Another weird fact.. The guy who gave them the new car and had the big magnifier on his hat, is Michael J. Pollard.. He's the reason Michael Fox took the J for his middle name.. Michael Andrew Fox is his given name but took the J because someone else owned his name in SAG already.. He thought J was cool
This thing is LOADED with character acting legends. Clint Howard, Brion James, James Hong, Michael J. pollard, Robert Z'Dar, Geoffrey Lewis...was J.T. Walsh busy? (Check out Robert Z'Dar in the all time bad movie classic, Samurai Cop.)
I think the comedic timing of you looking at the camera wad stronger if you'd just given the look XD. Had me laughing before something was said.
This was my favorite movie as a kid. It's so bad.
I still love the line: "Don't insist! Insisting people make me angry"
Hope it's in this reaction.
Yeah, Tango and Cash is pure action cheese. I used to like it a lot when I was very young. I still like it but I think the last time ive seen it is 20 years ago.
If you're trying to figure out where you know Brion James (ponytail) from...that easy...EVERYTHING. He's one of those actor's that play a supporting role in about 8, 000 movies, "Blade Runner", "48 Hours", Another 48 Hours", "The Fifth Element", & "Silverado". So many films in fact that 7 of the films he co-starred in were released after his death in 1999.
She sees Curly, I think Batman. "Don't forget, your lucky deck."
"Say this, SON OF A BITCH!" slams hand on table.
@22:38 Michael Jeter. Great performances in The Fisher King snd Open Range.
Before he was Curly he was Boss Grissom in Batman 1989. 👍
The best thing about 80's action movies is the musical score....love it
Should put “You me and the movies is filmed in front of a live studio audience.”
20:42 - It is. It's why you always see pigeons and other birds sitting on them.
Ponytail is also in The Adventures of Ford Fairlane staring the Diceman, Andrew Dice Clay.
Loved this movie.
Loved the story.
Buddy cop perfection.
The polar opposite dynamic gets no cooler than this.
The original director of the film was difficult with the producers.
So they brought in 2 others:Peter Macdonald (director of Rambo 3/stunt coordinator for Batman) and Albert Magnoli (director of Purple Rain).
The music by Harold Faltermeyer (Fletch, Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun) was so good.
Both characters each had theme music and you can tell the difference.
The end of the 1980s and we got a nice going-way present.
Great movie. You should also watch Kurt Russell movies Break Down and Executive Decision and Sylvester Stallone in Cobra and Demolition Man
Mrs. Movies really calling out the cars in this one. I appreciate a woman who knows her automobiles. Btw their attack SUV is a 1988 Chevy K2500.
Golden age comedy buddy cop movie. Trivia - The male dancer in the club is Adolfo Gutierrez Quiñones who played Ozone in the Breakin movies.
3:40 I love how you looked at the camera and smiled. And I did get the reference, because City Slickers was the movie my ex-wife and I saw on our first date. Yes, I am old. :)
I think the best line is: "My sights are off; Mine too."
Now you must see Thunderbolt And Lightfoot (1974). Stars Clint Eastwood.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
But there was a lot of production issues behind the scenes as the film's Director Andrei Konchalovsky was fired from the project after 3 months of filming. The reason is that Konchalovsky and the producers, Jon Peters and Peter Guber, refused to work with each other on how the film should be made.
Stunt Coordinator Peter McDonald, whom worked for Stallone on RAMBO 3, directed the action scenes and Albert Magnoli ,director of Prince's Purple Rain, was also brought in for the characters and dialogue. Film Editor Stuart Baird saved the film as some the footage that Konchalovsky had made was usable.
This wasn’t Konchalovsky’s first prison film, a few years earlier he made Runaway Train - Akira Kurosawa based script - starring Jon Voight and Eric Roberts as two convicts who escape from an Alaska prison on board a runaway train in the dead of winter. Probably one of the best movies that Cannon Films ever made. Eddie Bunker (Cash’s captain and Mr. Blue from Reservoir Dogs) was also in it as Jonah, not to mention it also featured Tommy “Tiny” Lister (Deebo from Friday) as a guard and Danny Trejo as a fellow inmate boxer.
@@ryanh603 Yeah Runaway Train is a classic.
The character with the chin has a genetic condition called Cherubism. Robert Z'Dar is in maniac cop series
Curly took to the land, Duke took to the sea, and Yves, well let's just say that he became a businessman.
The villain with the terrible English accent is Brion James. You probably recognize him from The Fifth Element as the General who enlists Bruce Willis, or as one of the replicants from Bladerunner, or any number of the plethora of other films he has been in.
Family cuddlez are important!!!
(22:00) Brion James. YOu probably know him from "The Fifth Element", "Blade Runner", among some other classics.
It's vintage cheese. The plot, the over the top acting, the action and the dialogue are all perfect cheese. And it's better than the vast majority of modern films coming out today. IMO.
Also, you're remembering ponytail guy from Bladerunner.
This movie was 80's R&B/pop artist Billy Ocean's entire album "Tear Down These Walls" made into a film. So deliciously 80's
We really need a compilation of littlun's entrances and exits
21:58 - Brion James (Blade Runner, The Horror Show). Usually played villains. RIP Brion James, Robert Z'Dar and Jack Palance
Idk why but i always liked that goofy ladder joke. know where you're going. yah. well get your ass outta my face and get there :P
It's real, Robert Z Dar , had a rare congenital condition called cherubism.. it extends the jaw line.. it's weird but real and he died in 2015 just FYI
"Kurt Russell is just Bulletproof." Correction* He 100%...DEATHPROOF.
One of my favs! Keep up all the great content!
The look she gave him when he said "the play that got taped.."
As much as I love this movie. If it wasn't for Russell and Stallone....this script screams late 80's direct to video. The entire 3rd act car chase was added because the producer wanted "more explosions"
2 Great Actors in there Prime:)
The ironic thing about this movie is that it was partly directed by Andrei Konchalovsky who has had a wild career. He is actually one of the great Russian filmmakers having written scripts for Tarkovsky early in his career as well having some made some truly great films on his own. But the movies he's made in America have been all over the map.
Cool reaction as always Mr. & Mrs. Movies, you both enjoy the weekend
