All these reviews bring me so much nostalgic fun. I used to watch all these action movies with my dad in the late 90s early 00s, we watched pretty much every Stallone, Russell, Arnie and Van Damme movie (among others) on TV when he returned from work. He passed away in 2007 and I cherish all these action movies very much.

The fact Lethal Weapon just keeps on truckin’ and Tango & Cash never got so much as one sequel is sacrilege. Jack Palance, the Maniac Cop, Michael Jerry, Mr Blue, Juliette Lewis’s dad, Michael J. Pollard, the Total Recall red pill guy and Brion “Walter Hill” James!! Maybe the movie is cursed because am pretty sure all of them are now dead.
And since the director was Russian, there was a cameo appearance by one of the stars of the Soviet comedic cinema, Saveli Kramarov, who played the auto owner who believed in perestroika.
Released on March 6, 1987, Lethal Weapon was No. 1 at the box office for three weeks before Blind Date supplanted it. It grossed $120.2 million worldwide and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing (Les Fresholtz, Dick Alexander, Vern Poore and Bill Nelson) (losing to The Last Emperor). It is widely considered to be one of the best buddy cop films of all time, influencing numerous "buddy cop" films such as Hot Fuzz, Tango & Cash, Bad Boys and the Rush Hour series.
Tango & Cash marked the end of an era: It was the last Hollywood movie of the '80s, releasing in US theatres on December 22nd, 1989. This movie wasn't great, but it's a guilty pleasure for me; seemed like they were making it up as they went along. The prison break scene was legitimately good though. Andrei Konchalovsky is the credited director, but he was fired and two other directors worked on the movie uncredited: Peter McDonald and Albert Magnoli. Konchalovsky made another '80s action movie, Runaway Train, which is pretty good. Talking about Jackie Chan and Police Story, Bad Boys 2 ripped off the scene where cars crash through the hillside village.
Producer Jon Peters (hi again) was fighting with director Andrei Konchalovsky and fired him just before the end of production. Stallone had already largely taken over. Peters had crazy ideas, and Konchalovsky wanted something more grounded. Jon Peters would make a career of this, famously with Wild Wild West and the Giant Spider he kept trying to put in movies. Konchalovsky could make a good realistic action movie. Maybe serious Tango and Cash would be a classic. On the other hand, In 2010 Konchalovsky made his dream project, The Nutcracker in 3D, and Jon Peters' craziest ideas have nothing on that movie. The final straw for Konchalovsky apparently was about the whole super vehicle thing. I've also heard they were basically running without a script for all of the quarry sequence, which seems insane. *** Long Ghost Director story sort of tied to this film. This wasn't the first time Stallone Ghost Directed a movie. By many reports, Stallone had mostly ghost directed "Cobra" the year before for George P Cosmatos. I'm not entirely sure why this happened, although it seems largely like Stallone just felt like taking over and Cosmatos didn't care. It's possible he knew he could do this from Rambo. This is important because cut to 1993. T&C co-star Russell is making Tombstone. The Director, Kevin Jarre, can't hack it. The reports say he was behind, I've heard suggestions he was MIA. Somebody has to save the film, and that's Kurt Russell. Like Stallone here and with Cobra, he starts directing. But there's a major problem. With the director fired early, the union needs someone to be the director on the credits. With Cobra they never lost the director. With this film the director was fired late enough it wasn't a big deal to have a random director (Albert Magnoli) pop in and be uncredited. Tombstone needs an official director. So why not Russell if he's really directing? He's not a member of the director's guild. The unions won't let him direct. If he had come in as the director that could have worked, but they don't like letting an actor take over a production and he's not getting in this way. Russell needs a beard. I can't say that I actually know for sure, but some reason I assume that Russell, finding himself in this situation, looking back on Tango and Cash, called on his old co-star and asked for advice and Stallone said "Call George, he'll put his name on your movie". What I do know is that everybody knew that Cosmatos came into Tombstone to mostly hang out. *** Clint Howard is a little bit special. He's a national treasure. *** It's amazing how many no-strip strip clubs there are in Movies and TV. I think you can divide them into 3 types: 1) Clubs where all the girls stip except the one the characters are looking for, who is played by a more important actress. She's still probably the most popular one. 2) Clubs where none of the girls strip. Very popular on Network TV. 3) Clubs where none of the girls strip or even stay on stage, but instead there are frequent randomly occurring sort sexy dances with some pretense of art or other talents. Dancers are famous like Road House bouncers, sought after for their short sexy routines. Maybe the dancer in question was a former 49ers cheerleader and Love Boat Mermaid so she can move a little, but the dance doesn't have to be good because it's really just about looking at a hot girl. This is obviously a Cat 3. These were more popular during the 1980's and into the 1990's when something this absurd could fly. *** What do you want in your lair? Wall of monitors? Secret room? Watched this for the first time at 9 or 10 on tv with my french grandpa. Old Marcel, tough bricklayer who had seen WWII as a teen, was quite a badass, and I remember him saying to me during the prison fight scene : "They're good guys, these two", talking about Stallone and Russell and how they threw themselves into the fight. In my 10-year-old mind, having my grandfather certify Russell and Stallone as badasses meant they were worth becoming a fan of theirs. And Hell this flick is a ton of fun.
The 80's sure had some of the best action films ever made. And this is one of my favorite ones. I still can't believe that it didn't turn into a franchise like Lethal Weapon did.

So, I’ve had to take time off work because I came down with a, thankfully, mild case of COVID. Felt pretty bad for two days and couldn’t really focus on anything I wanted to watch movie-wise. I turned to RUclips to just have something on and came across your channel in my recommendations. It was your Hard To Kill review. It was amazing. For a few minutes I forgot how crummy I was feeling and had a legit smile on my face the entire video. Watched another review, enjoyed the hell out of it, and down the RedEye rabbit hole I went. Your sense of humor, the things you notice and point out in the videos, your writing and delivery are all top notch. And the sense of progression of your talent from your first video to, this, your latest has been a joy to see. As amazing as this film is, it did seal the lid of movies of this type getting big budgets and big stars, as it was a box office bomb. I think it's because it hit the market at the tail end of the 80's and audiences wanted something new, who knows, doesn't take away from it being an enjoyable watch though ;)
It’s a shame that it was considered a flop when it’s budget was $54 million (a chunk of which went to Stallone) and it grossed $120.4 million at the box office. However, a movie like Lethal Weapon grossed $120.2 but it’s budget was only $15 million.

They became a lot more "grounded" during the 90s... more everyman turns hero type stuff.... Started with Die Hard 1/2. I was born 91 but I love both, 80s OTT cheese and the 90s more realistic stuff like die hard / T2 etc. All i watch to this day still every night haha
Another one of my guilty viewing pleasures! Along with Hard to Kill, this was on HBO all the time, hence seeing it a lot! But the chemistry between Kurt and Sly was off the charts!
I freakin love this movie. So happy you reviewed this one. I love how you can turn any masterpiece into a comedic review and make the movie seem terrible. However, Tango & Cash is nothing short of a top 10 movie of all time.
I saw this film twice in the cinema in 1989, once with a mate and once with my dad. I was 12 at the time, now I'm 45. At work, one of my colleagues and I still quote Jack Palance's line from this film whenever anyone says how easy something will be... "Quick and easy is how you bake a cake or clean a toilet bowl... NOT how you run a multi-million dollar business like ours." Sadly, many actors from this film are dead now. Robert Z'Dar ('THAT jaw?'), pony-tail guy, Jack Palance, among others.
Personally, I enjoyed the film of "Tango & Cash" and it really was a funny action story with funny characters indeed! My favorite part of the film involved "Tango" reunited with Robert Z'Dar's character between bars in prison where the big-jawed guy demands that he deal with "Tango" where he responded with "YES! I loved you in 'Conan the Barbarian'!" 🤣👍

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Kurt Russell has always had the world's most glorious head of hair. And his moustache game is so on point when he rocks that too. Also taught me what "FUBAR" stood for when I was like, 6. I was popular at recess.
Tet another badassssss flick! Kurt Russell is the man! Snake Plissken has a special place in my heart as does Jack Burton. Hopefully you do will Big Trouble in Little China (if you haven't already done it) I recently watched the commentary with John Carpenter and Kurt Russell while I was sculpting the Gaurdian from the movie.
I miss the days when someone being macho could just be fun. These two were so great together, I wish they had made a sequel because it would have been gloriously bad.

That supporting ensemble cast is so recognizable, I swear you could pick out a random half a dozen of them and name 5 movies each have been in. I vaguely remember that tidbit about Brion getting a bigger role because of that accent; such a cool story.
I need to see this movie! From this video alone I have to say the banter between Kurt and Sly is some of the best I've ever heard. That and even when you put the names Kurt and Sly together it naturally sounds like a buddy-cop tv series lol

The only banter I've seen that was just as good was in a movie called, "King Arthur," starring Clive Owen when they tried to present a slightly more "historical" take on Arthurian legend. The line was between Gawain and Lancelot while they discuss what to do after they are freed from serving Rome: Gawain: "And what will I be doing?" Lancelot: "Wondering in your good fortune why all your children look like me." Gawain: "Is that before or after I hit you with my axe?"
The fact that this movie was completed at all it is amazing. Apparently they ran out of time and money, and hired an editor to put something together with what they had…. This is why continuity was thrown out the window… like Terry Hatcher suddenly showing up at the bad guys base.
This is one of the most perfectly casted moviefilms of all time! When you've got Jack Palance playing the villain, you know you've got a good recipe going on. 1:54 Very professional police work right there. There's plenty to go around, so make sure everybody gets a taste! Seriously, though, why do movie people always taste stuff? Interest in forensics isn't really a new thing. The detective genre has been around for a long time. So the audience DOES think about this sort of thing. 2:31 Yer not gonna talk about his custom "discount James Bond" gun-boot? 3:16 Check that muzzle, greenhorn! Look at him pointing that thing around willy-nilly! 3:20 That's a Walther PPK/S (I looked it up on IMFDB since I'm more of a SIG/Sauer fantard). The rear sight actually is adjustable. Don't know how practical that actually is, though, since it's a subcompact backup pistol with a short barrel and short sight radius. Still a classy choice, though. Seems more like something Tango would carry. Cash is more the type who'd go for something that's cheap (in price, not quality) but also practical. Keep in mind that this movie came out when American cops were still using revolvers. Movies like Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, and Lethal Weapon predicted the future of law enforcement. 5:06 Why does Tango wear suits and ties (dressing like a "banker" as his coworker points out) and why does Cash have an oversized laser marker on his hand cannon? 5:30 Right-handed cops display their badge with their left hand, keeping the right hand at the ready. Transverse for southpaws. 'The X-Files' got that wrong and it was one of the few gripes ever "levied" (not "leveled") against that show. Anyway, notice how Sly's holding his piece left-handed. I read somewhere that he's left-handed, but in movies, we see him doing things ambidextrously. That makes sense since southpaws often learn to do certain things ambidextrously. In the First Blood movies, Rambo always uses a bow and arrow left-handed. But which eye is dominant? That's the real question. The eyes matter more than the hands when it comes to marksmanship (with ANY ranged weapon). Sly suffered nerve damage to the left side of his face when he was born in 1945 due to an intern making a mistake with a pair of forceps. That's why his mouth appears crooked. That's also why he has a speech impediment. But I'm not sure how much of his face was affected by it. I don't think his left eye was affected. 6:00 Well, that's just mean! Dr. Edgemar is no Jabba! 8:07 Brion James is one of the best "that guy" actors. He was in Blade Runner. 9:41 Stunt guy's wearing the wrong kind of shirt. Notice the sleeves. I feel insulted by that oversight. 10:09 Robert Z'Dar is also one of the best "that guy" actors. He was in Maniac Cop. 10:12 Possibly an homage to 'Commando'. Vernon Wells is also one of the best "that guy" actors. Except I think his name might be too well known for that classification. Anyway, my generation probably remembers him most as Wez from 'The Road Warrior', Bennett from 'Commando', and Mr. Igoe from 'Innerspace'. 10:27 Not dead, but definitely wounded. People in movies can always fall five times farther than what a normal person can withstand and they walk it off unless the plot calls for them to twist their ankle or something just for extra challenge or whatnot. 10:53 Unfold that stock, greenhorn! "I'll bust ya ta zero, trooper!"
A shame Kurt Russell wasn't in The Expendables. He was apparently offered a role but his agent or whatever said he wasn't interested in ensemble acting at that time which must have changed cause he did The Hateful 8 later on.

Love this movie. R.I.P. Jack Palance. Also, yes, they were in another movie together. Many years later, not as a duo, but they were both in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Ego (Russell), & Leader of the Ravagers (Stallone).
Tango and Cash was quite a good film… for the 80’s. I loved it when it came out, especially because Terri Hatcher was in it and she was/still is so hot.

@3:20, you can actually adjust the rear dovetail of a pistol sight left or right… but that’s not what bothered me. I was bothered by Kurt’s finger on the trigger while checking his sights and possibly pointing the gun at people as he was in the middle of the room. 🤦♂️

Wow this channel is at 10k already? It reached 1k like barely a month ago. I can remember making a comment about that meaning videos could be monetized and would have ads put on them by RUclips. Well congrats on reaching that milestone so damn quickly. And that rant about the guy touching the chains not getting zapped is on point. I work with electricity for a living and have even worked on electrical things that are live before so I’m well across the risks with electricity. As far as that That little electro-torture game the bad guys were playing in that scene the only way that wouldn’t just outright kill tango and cash is if they had something controlling the current output of those cables they’re dunking in the water. It takes just 30 milliAmps of electrical current through the heart to be fatal. The conductors they’re dunking in the water look fairly thick like they can handle high voltage and high current , especially of they’re arcing like that which movies love because little lightning looking arcs are an effective way to visually convey the presence of electricity but that kinda arcing wouldn’t happen with the sort of really low current needed to not kill someone instantly. It is the sort of Hollywood trickery I have to pretend I didn’t see to prevent it taking me out of the movie. As much as I can shit on the movie for getting that wrong i should give it credit for getting it right about the bare overhead line that they use to zip line down. Technically speaking a person could safely grab onto a single line and as long as they’re not touching another line or the ground they’d be completely safe because they’d be at the same potential despite the really high voltages in those lines. Which is why small birds can perch on them with no trouble but larger birds whose wings can touch another line get electrocuted instantly.

@@RedEyeReviews happy to share some of what I know about electricity. I can justify it by telling myself it can help you and anyone else reading it by being more aware of the dangers and therefore more safe while not encouraging anyone to do anything risky that they’re not trained to do. It is better to have a healthy respect for electricity and to be knowledgeable about it even if just a little bit than to be deathly afraid of it. Modern society couldn’t function without electricity so knowing just the basics is essential to being able to safely live with it in our lives.
@@unstoppableExodia Sparky here also, agree that electricity is mega dangerous but also not "magic" Birds and squirrels touch the wire all the time and don't get zapped.
@@andychaffin740 absolutely, becoming an electrician was one of the best things I could have done as the skills I picked up have been really useful even if the industry itself has some issues over here. Being able to help friends and family by doing small electrical jobs off the books for cash while saving them a bit in the process is always a good feeling Fun fact I would have chosen to pursue a career as a plumber to be like super Mario if it wasn’t for my desire to set up an indoor gardening when I was younger and more willing to take risks. I was told being able to work with electricity was more used for that pursuit because the plumbing involved in that is fairly basic and I wouldn’t get much benefit in it from being a properly qualified plumber. They were one hundred percent right and being able to safely do electrical work was a huge asset to my old grow room. I haven’t done any of that for ten years now but it was a really enjoyable past time while it lasted.
I kind of wish they still made movies like this, one shot deals where you could turn your brain off for an hour and a half and just be entertained. Stallone and Russell both look like they're having a great time through the whole movie. Stallone: I don't know...yet." Russell: "You don't know...shit!" Lmao, classic.
Bring these movies back! Sly and Kurty are still rockstars...they don’t make ‘em like they used to! Believe it or not I saw this in theaters when I was 5 😳 still love it!

This movie wasn't great, but it's a guilty pleasure for me; seemed like they were making it up as they went along. The prison break scene was legitimately good though.
Andrei Konchalovsky is the credited director, but he was fired and two other directors worked on the movie uncredited: Peter McDonald and Albert Magnoli. Konchalovsky made another '80s action movie, Runaway Train, which is pretty good.
Talking about Jackie Chan and Police Story, Bad Boys 2 ripped off the scene where cars crash through the hillside village.
Fun Fact: Magnoli also directed Purple Rain.
Producer Jon Peters (hi again) was fighting with director Andrei Konchalovsky and fired him just before the end of production. Stallone had already largely taken over.
Peters had crazy ideas, and Konchalovsky wanted something more grounded. Jon Peters would make a career of this, famously with Wild Wild West and the Giant Spider he kept trying to put in movies.
Konchalovsky could make a good realistic action movie. Maybe serious Tango and Cash would be a classic. On the other hand, In 2010 Konchalovsky made his dream project, The Nutcracker in 3D, and Jon Peters' craziest ideas have nothing on that movie.
The final straw for Konchalovsky apparently was about the whole super vehicle thing.
I've also heard they were basically running without a script for all of the quarry sequence, which seems insane.

Long Ghost Director story sort of tied to this film.
This wasn't the first time Stallone Ghost Directed a movie. By many reports, Stallone had mostly ghost directed "Cobra" the year before for George P Cosmatos. I'm not entirely sure why this happened, although it seems largely like Stallone just felt like taking over and Cosmatos didn't care. It's possible he knew he could do this from Rambo.
This is important because cut to 1993. T&C co-star Russell is making Tombstone. The Director, Kevin Jarre, can't hack it. The reports say he was behind, I've heard suggestions he was MIA. Somebody has to save the film, and that's Kurt Russell. Like Stallone here and with Cobra, he starts directing.
But there's a major problem. With the director fired early, the union needs someone to be the director on the credits. With Cobra they never lost the director. With this film the director was fired late enough it wasn't a big deal to have a random director (Albert Magnoli) pop in and be uncredited. Tombstone needs an official director. So why not Russell if he's really directing? He's not a member of the director's guild. The unions won't let him direct. If he had come in as the director that could have worked, but they don't like letting an actor take over a production and he's not getting in this way.
Russell needs a beard. I can't say that I actually know for sure, but some reason I assume that Russell, finding himself in this situation, looking back on Tango and Cash, called on his old co-star and asked for advice and Stallone said "Call George, he'll put his name on your movie". What I do know is that everybody knew that Cosmatos came into Tombstone to mostly hang out.

It's amazing how many no-strip strip clubs there are in Movies and TV. I think you can divide them into 3 types:
1) Clubs where all the girls stip except the one the characters are looking for, who is played by a more important actress. She's still probably the most popular one.
2) Clubs where none of the girls strip. Very popular on Network TV.
3) Clubs where none of the girls strip or even stay on stage, but instead there are frequent randomly occurring sort sexy dances with some pretense of art or other talents. Dancers are famous like Road House bouncers, sought after for their short sexy routines. Maybe the dancer in question was a former 49ers cheerleader and Love Boat Mermaid so she can move a little, but the dance doesn't have to be good because it's really just about looking at a hot girl.
This is obviously a Cat 3. These were more popular during the 1980's and into the 1990's when something this absurd could fly.

Watched this for the first time at 9 or 10 on tv with my french grandpa. Old Marcel, tough bricklayer who had seen WWII as a teen, was quite a badass, and I remember him saying to me during the prison fight scene : "They're good guys, these two", talking about Stallone and Russell and how they threw themselves into the fight. In my 10-year-old mind, having my grandfather certify Russell and Stallone as badasses meant they were worth becoming a fan of theirs. And Hell this flick is a ton of fun.
The 80's sure had some of the best action films ever made. And this is one of my favorite ones. I still can't believe that it didn't turn into a franchise like Lethal Weapon did.

For a few minutes I forgot how crummy I was feeling and had a legit smile on my face the entire video. Watched another review, enjoyed the hell out of it, and down the RedEye rabbit hole I went. This is such a nice compliment and I'm so glad you found a way to forget about your worries for a little bit. That is honestly the main reason I started this channel. Movies are my safe space. As amazing as this film is, it did seal the lid of movies of this type getting big budgets and big stars, as it was a box office bomb.
I think it's because it hit the market at the tail end of the 80's and audiences wanted something new, who knows, doesn't take away from it being an enjoyable watch though ;)
And Russel wasn't really a big action name back then.
It was the last big action film of the 80's, released Dec 22, 1989. It also went into production June 12, 1989 and went 5 months from start to finish.
It’s a shame that it was considered a flop when it’s budget was $54 million (a chunk of which went to Stallone) and it grossed $120.4 million at the box office. However, a movie like Lethal Weapon grossed $120.2 but it’s budget was only $15 million.

They became a lot more "grounded" during the 90s... more everyman turns hero type stuff.... Started with Die Hard 1/2. I was born 91 but I love both, 80s OTT cheese and the 90s more realistic stuff like die hard / T2 etc. All i watch to this day still every night haha
Another one of my guilty viewing pleasures! Along with Hard to Kill, this was on HBO all the time, hence seeing it a lot! But the chemistry between Kurt and Sly was off the charts!

I saw this film twice in the cinema in 1989, once with a mate and once with my dad. I was 12 at the time, now I'm 45. At work, one of my colleagues and I still quote Jack Palance's line from this film whenever anyone says how easy something will be... "Quick and easy is how you bake a cake or clean a toilet bowl... NOT how you run a multi-million dollar business like ours."
Sadly, many actors from this film are dead now. Robert Z'Dar ('THAT jaw?'), pony-tail guy, Jack Palance, among others.
Personally, I enjoyed the film of "Tango & Cash" and it really was a funny action story with funny characters indeed! My favorite part of the film involved "Tango" reunited with Robert Z'Dar's character between bars in prison where the big-jawed guy demands that he deal with "Tango" where he responded with "YES! I loved you in 'Conan the Barbarian'!" 🤣👍

Apparently they ran out of time and money, and hired an editor to put something together with what they had…. This is why continuity was thrown out the window… like Terry Hatcher suddenly showing up at the bad guys base.
This is one of the most perfectly casted moviefilms of all time! When you've got Jack Palance playing the villain, you know you've got a good recipe going on.

Don't know how practical that actually is, though, since it's a subcompact backup pistol with a short barrel and short sight radius. Still a classy choice, though. Seems more like something Tango would carry. Cash is more the type who'd go for something that's cheap (in price, not quality) but also practical. Keep in mind that this movie came out when American cops were still using revolvers. Movies like Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, and Lethal Weapon predicted the future of law enforcement.
5:06 Why does Tango wear suits and ties (dressing like a "banker" as his coworker points out) and why does Cash have an oversized laser marker on his hand cannon?
5:30 Right-handed cops display their badge with their left hand, keeping the right hand at the ready. Transverse for southpaws. 'The X-Files' got that wrong and it was one of the few gripes ever "levied" (not "leveled") against that show. Anyway, notice how Sly's holding his piece left-handed. I read somewhere that he's left-handed, but in movies, we see him doing things ambidextrously. That makes sense since southpaws often learn to do certain things ambidextrously. In the First Blood movies, Rambo always uses a bow and arrow left-handed. But which eye is dominant? That's the real question. The eyes matter more than the hands when it comes to marksmanship (with ANY ranged weapon). Sly suffered nerve damage to the left side of his face when he was born in 1945 due to an intern making a mistake with a pair of forceps. That's why his mouth appears crooked. That's also why he has a speech impediment. But I'm not sure how much of his face was affected by it. I don't think his left eye was affected.

A shame Kurt Russell wasn't in The Expendables. He was apparently offered a role but his agent or whatever said he wasn't interested in ensemble acting at that time which must have changed cause he did The Hateful 8 later on.

Love this movie. R.I.P. Jack Palance. Also, yes, they were in another movie together. Many years later, not as a duo, but they were both in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Ego (Russell), & Leader of the Ravagers (Stallone).
Tango and Cash was quite a good film… for the 80’s. I loved it when it came out, especially because Terri Hatcher was in it and she was/still is so hot.

@3:20, you can actually adjust the rear dovetail of a pistol sight left or right… but that’s not what bothered me. I was bothered by Kurt’s finger on the trigger while checking his sights and possibly pointing the gun at people as he was in the middle of the room. 🤦♂️

Wow this channel is at 10k already? It reached 1k like barely a month ago. I can remember making a comment about that meaning videos could be monetized and would have ads put on them by RUclips. Well congrats on reaching that milestone so damn quickly.
And that rant about the guy touching the chains not getting zapped is on point. I work with electricity for a living and have even worked on electrical things that are live before so I’m well across the risks with electricity. As far as that That little electro-torture game the bad guys were playing in that scene the only way that wouldn’t just outright kill tango and cash is if they had something controlling the current output of those cables they’re dunking in the water. It takes just 30 milliAmps of electrical current through the heart to be fatal. The conductors they’re dunking in the water look fairly thick like they can handle high voltage and high current , especially of they’re arcing like that which movies love because little lightning looking arcs are an effective way to visually convey the presence of electricity but that kinda arcing wouldn’t happen with the sort of really low current needed to not kill someone instantly. It is the sort of Hollywood trickery I have to pretend I didn’t see to prevent it taking me out of the movie.
As much as I can shit on the movie for getting that wrong i should give it credit for getting it right about the bare overhead line that they use to zip line down. Technically speaking a person could safely grab onto a single line and as long as they’re not touching another line or the ground they’d be completely safe because they’d be at the same potential despite the really high voltages in those lines. Which is why small birds can perch on them with no trouble but larger birds whose wings can touch another line get electrocuted instantly.
Right?! It is starting to grow so quickly. It's amazing.

@@RedEyeReviews happy to share some of what I know about electricity. I can justify it by telling myself it can help you and anyone else reading it by being more aware of the dangers and therefore more safe while not encouraging anyone to do anything risky that they’re not trained to do.
It is better to have a healthy respect for electricity and to be knowledgeable about it even if just a little bit than to be deathly afraid of it. Modern society couldn’t function without electricity so knowing just the basics is essential to being able to safely live with it in our lives.

Fun fact I would have chosen to pursue a career as a plumber to be like super Mario if it wasn’t for my desire to set up an indoor gardening when I was younger and more willing to take risks. I was told being able to work with electricity was more used for that pursuit because the plumbing involved in that is fairly basic and I wouldn’t get much benefit in it from being a properly qualified plumber. They were one hundred percent right and being able to safely do electrical work was a huge asset to my old grow room. I haven’t done any of that for ten years now but it was a really enjoyable past time while it lasted.
