Tango and Cash is one of the best last movies of the 80s, and I truly believe that no matter what, the cinema snob will always be better than the nostalgia critic.
Watched this a few weeks ago (the boyfriend took advantage of my thing for '80s Kurt Russell and his liking of showing me new films), and I'm STILL convinced that this is the story of a married cop couple who are living apart/whose relationship has lost its spark, and it takes being framed for murder to get that spark back. I accept no other synopsis.
As a kid of that time period this movie checked all the boxes. Big action stars, great villians, explosions and guns galore, quips and one-liners, and that truck they drive at the end was/is one of the coolest movie vehicles ever. Oh, and that scene where they interrogate Brion James on the rooftop is still pretty funny.
he would've had to be played by FRANK McRAE .R.I.P. 🌹 he was in 48hrs & LAST ACTION HERO as a black police captain & he was in LICENSE TO KILL & BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED
A childhood favorite: Stallone pretending to be George Clooney before he was in hollywood, homoerotism, a Hot chick, explosions,a monster truck,Jack Palance chewing the scenery.
I know I’m almost 5 years too late on this, but this is the BEST Cinema Snob episode ever! All the jokes hit and I’m laughing so hard, I’m crying. Thank you for this episode on my favorite action movie of all time.
No it really isn't because it's not a satire of action movies. Also this movie doesn't have a main kid character, and is a great ridiculous action movie with 2 Badass Protagonists.
Disappointed that you didn't point out that the scene where Stallone stops a truck is pretty much a shot-for-shot recreation of a similar scene from Jackie Chan's Police Story (1985). Then again, I didn't know that Harold Faltermeyer's actual first name is Hans until after watching this video.
It was written in the 80's. And was called Die Hard, until Joel Silver asked Shane Black if he could have the title for his film, Nothing Lasts Forever.
Its funny that Sly, and Kurt Russell are both in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. So was Michael Rooker who was also in Cliffhanger with Sly. Anyway this movie is ridiculous, and I love it. Its one of those cheesy nostalgic action movies I watched growing up in the 90's. Have't seen it in a long time though :)
Snob, I have one criticism with your criticism of this movie. They made it clear in the film why the villain Perret goes through the trouble of framing Tango and Cash instead of simply killing them: Tango and Cash were renowned heroes of the city, and killing them would turn them into martyrs. He had to destroy their reputations first.
Man, every time I see Savely Kramarov in an American movie I become sad. The man is a genius actor, but the only work he got in Hollywood movies after emigrating was comedic bit roles or side characters. And the saddest part is that he died just as he had a lead role lined up.
FUBAR.... This has always been one of my favorite movies. Can’t tell you how much you made my Monday better by reviewing this. Thank you, Cinema Snob, for bringing humor to those who need a giggle. ❤️👏🏼❤️👏🏼
Tango and Cash is a terrific ridiculous action movie with a over the top great main Villain, 2 Badass protagonists, and is the embodiment of 80s action movies using most of the cliches including explosions, action scenes with cars, etc.
This is a gem lost to the current generation. Remember how Guardians 2 had Stallone and Russell in it, but no Tango and Cash reference? Kids these days. Also, no Cliffhanger reference. They had Michael Rooker RIGHT THERE. And he never said "In a minute, I'll be dead. You? Will always be an a$$hole."
I think he's alright, but if you have a soft spot for almost exclusively 80s and 90s movie nostalgia you want Minty comedic arts. Hes a bit more entertaining if you ask me and has better editing. Not accounting for personal taste of course.
Ok, I soo have to go down in my cellar and search for my VHS copy of the movie. I'd almost forgotten how fun this flic is. Everything that's cool, weird, over the top, dirty, illogical, gruesome and hilariously tongue-in-cheek from the Eighties is right in here.
"Did Tango make Clint Howard his bitch?" is a line I for some reason find equally strangely hilarious and unironically awesome, no idea why. Christ, I've never actually seen Tango & Cash and boy do I regret this.
"You could've just said all that but...I'm glad you didn't" I legit spit my Hurricane out on that one Snob! Funniest shit I've read in months!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Was going to say something about how apt it was for you to say this was 'the last 80s movie'.. But then you said it actually was, and my head exploded like the dog's.
To beeee fair, it wasn't *the* last major studio movie to be released in 1989. Spielberg's "Always" was also given a wide release on the same day as "Tango & Cash" and it was also a major studio movie. - www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view=bydate&release=theatrical&date=1989-12-22&p=.htm
Thanks for doing this snob i have a soft spot for these types of action comedys. God bless Stallone he tries to act but as soon as he opens his mouth the cringe begins. Tone it down a notch Palance. Was that Pepsi truck on route to waynes world?
I wish Kurt Russell was my dad. He's the best, one of my favorites. He has the best smile. The world could be falling down and his smile would make me feel safe.
I forgot what a great cast this movie had. Jack Palance is such a mega villain he has Lo Pan and Gul Ducat as his henchmen. We know that Lo Pans don't even work against Jack Burtons but it still shows what a high rank Palance is. The music was good but I am almost certain that tension-sting just came out of nowhere whenever Jack Palance spoke in real life. Its the sort of natural villainy that got him life changing roles like in Hawk the Slayer and Gor 2. Brion James was a national treasure and will always be a gold standard for 80's henchmen. A lot of really good character actors filling up the side roles which probably saved the movie a bit from its backstage drama.
This move rock! Nice work bro. Can you review the buddy cop movie red steel I think it’s called.... it has Arnold S and Jim Belushi in it, when Russia sends over their top cop.
@@markmorris6721 The only reason I remember the title is because there was another movie (prison exploitation flick) that came out with the same name. LOL I did love Arnie and Belushi together.
This was always a fun movie whether you saw it in 1989 or just recently. It's not a classic or all that well made but it's entertaining and that's really what matters in the end.
The fact it had so many problems and still turned out awesome is a testament to how Hollywood USED to be amazing and the force of talented actors could make things come to life.
"Patrick Swayze dropped out of Tango & Cash to shoot Roadhouse" might be the most 80s thing ever said.
@Michael Martin and DayGlo shirts and hair mousse.
@Michael Martin and Pia Zadora stars as the love interest, and she 's on the soundtrack as well.
I have a personal reason to love Roadhouse. I was named after Swayze's character...
Roadhouse!
@Gary Hall Heh. I wish...

That would be a hilarious spin on the genre. Like the LEGO Batman Movie with the subtext made text.
As a kid of that time period this movie checked all the boxes. And released clearly unfinished
All that movie was missing was an angry black commissioner and a scene where Nick Nolte wakes up hungover, and it’d be the 80s action movie prototype.
he would've had to be played by
FRANK McRAE
.R.I.P. 🌹

Actually this is one of my favorite buddy cop movies this one and Hot Fuzz.
Me too. And Dark Angel / I come in peace.
Same here. Also "Beverly Hills Cops".
Hot Fuzz is the most beautiful satirical film.
Last Boy Scout
3:54
Somewhere, Brad Jones is chasing that truck to steal all of the Crystal Pepsi
LA beast is right behind Snob
A childhood favorite: Stallone pretending to be George Clooney before he was in hollywood, homoerotism, a Hot chick, explosions,a monster truck,Jack Palance chewing the scenery.
Welcome to my childhood^^
I know I’m almost 5 years too late on this, but this is the BEST Cinema Snob episode ever! All the jokes hit and I’m laughing so hard, I’m crying. Thank you for this episode on my favorite action movie of all time.
Okay Stallone get Kurt Russell and make Tango and Cash 2.
2 tango 2 cash
This needs to happen!
It takes 2 to Tango.
At this late date they'd more likely do a remake. (But then again they're coming out with a direct sequel to TOP GUN, so who knows?)
to late brother to late even for holywerd.to bad i love this movie, mindlles owsome fun.
Oh my God! Stallone does look like Egon Spengler.
'Yo, I got a radical idea. We'll cross the streams.'
@Cyber Elder egos started injecting the mold and spores
I saw this movie years ago, and loved it. Kurt Russel and Sylvester Stallone are always a win in my book.
Clicked IMMEDIATELY when I saw Tango Cash reviewed by The Snob! Hey where's Lloyd!? I distinctly remember requesting more Lloyd!!
This movie is a classic. How can you not love a nerd Stallone that makes fun of Rambo?
I think you've referenced Batman '89 enough that you are now required by law to review it, Snob.
I can't believe there's finally a Cinema Snob video of a movie I've actually seen.
It's like Last Action Hero except without irony.
Don't you dare speak ill of Last Action Hero. 😅😂🤣
So in this universe, it's Stallone instead of Schwarzenegger... considering that T2 joke in the movie, it makes perfect sense.
No it really isn't because it's not a satire of action movies.
Also this movie doesn't have a main kid character, and is a great ridiculous action movie with 2 Badass Protagonists.
"That was you. YOU were in that movie!!!"
You guys should do The Last Boy Scout. Even though it was released in 1991, I consider it the last great 80’s action movie.
The opening football bit is still one of my all time favorite movie scenes
It was written in the 80's. And was called Die Hard, until Joel Silver asked Shane Black if he could have the title for his film, Nothing Lasts Forever.
Did you really just make a Martika reference????????? That is why you're the best of the best Snob!
Are you kidding, this was one of my FAVORITE movies as a kid.
I love how Kurt Russell jumps the gun reacting to him being electric shocked.
One of the most underrated 80’s movies
It’s a good movie but it could of used a wise cracking, burrito loving, talking dog
The movie didn't need that since it's not set in a world where dogs can talk aka something same as Men in Black movies.
I can't believe you're reviewing this. It's like you took a look in my head.
I love this movie.
The arcade game it inspired, Lucky & Wild, is one of my favorites.
Lucky & Wild was AMAZING. It was my favorite arcade machine.
The realization of the amount of Clint Howard in the Snob's reviews killed me 😂
i loved this movie as a kid, so much that i wrote the entire screen play out on paper word for word
Snob, I have one criticism with your criticism of this movie. They made it clear in the film why the villain Perret goes through the trouble of framing Tango and Cash instead of simply killing them: Tango and Cash were renowned heroes of the city, and killing them would turn them into martyrs. .snob cinema the question Don't
10:21 .....did he just say Mr Pervert? "INDEEEED" - David Lo Pan.
PENISSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Nice wrap-up of the 80s in one movie...yep I remember my dad renting this one on vhs back when. R.I.P. the 80s.
Stallone impression is SPOT ON !!!
James Hong is in this movie! He's been in SO many movies - love that guy!
the lawyer is a publisher not an attorney. great seinfeld reference .. Great review !!
A God Tier 80s film that does take said decade out with a literal bang. Understood perfectly, Brad.
i used to watch tango & cash quite often back then.. my young self loved it, and i have nothing but fond memories of it... :D
Man, every time I see Savely Kramarov in an American movie I become sad. The man is a genius actor, but the only work he got in Hollywood movies after emigrating was comedic bit roles or side characters. And the saddest part is that he died just as he had a lead role lined up.
Literally until this very moment I thought Turner and Hootch and Tango and Cash were the same movie.
When I went to see this , I fantasized about a version with Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson as the title duo.
YES one of my FAV movies of the 80's and a very under rated classic. It deserves a place right next to Terminator and Rocky.
And this is why I watch Cinema Snob. I learn something every time.
Happy 30th anniversary to Tango and Cash!
Please do more Stallone films.
It has Kurt Russel its automatically awesome
MC'Crazyeyed Henchman. And it's Harold Faltermeyer (8:30)!
No, that only his alias. His real name is Hans Hugo Harold Faltermeier. And yes, he is a born German.
I can't even count the amount of times I've seen this movie. I love it
Part of the beginning scene paid homage to Jackie Chan's Police Force
22:16 BEST HIGHFIVE EVER, I will admit
It was simpler time when one-liners and ultra-violence were the answer to everything :)
FUBAR....
This has always been one of my favorite movies. Can’t tell you how much you made my Monday better by reviewing this. Thank you, Cinema Snob, for bringing humor to those who need a giggle. ❤️👏🏼❤️👏🏼

I gave my thumbs up for Angel's Revenge reference
Thumbs up for showing Clint Howard. It’s a good omen for this week
I loved this movie when I first saw it way back on VHS and I still love it on DVD
I still have this on video, totally awesome.
5:54 Savely Kramarov. RIP, man. Sad that you didn't get any big roles in Hollywood (
Always love Snob reviewing action movies! If only he got to make a video on the ‘Universal Soldier’ Canadian TV movies...
As someone who never saw this movie, I never expected _this._
Its such a fun movie, I wish it was Arnold & Stallone but hey, its Kurt f**king Russell. Harold Faltermeyer knows how to create a memorable theme.
Aside from the Lethal Weapon movies this is one of my favorite buddy cop movies, maybe slightly below Crime Busters.
I remember how Guardians turned a serious character like Peter Quill into a buffoon.
I've always loved Tango and Cash. Thank you for reviewing it.
Love the octopussy poster behind. It’s a great bond movie.
11:41 If only you could review the Andy Griffith Show, Snob! That's where he's the best!
I can’t help it, you’re my favorite RUclipsd! Also it helps how special I feel when I get almost all of your obscure references.
I think he's alright, but if you have a soft spot for almost exclusively 80s and 90s movie nostalgia you want Minty comedic arts. Hes a bit more entertaining if you ask me and has better editing. Not accounting for personal taste of course.

I can't think of a better way to end the 80's.
Just realized I can never win the challenge of watching 'The Snob' next to my sleeping g/f w/out waking her up. 😂

"Did Tango make Clint Howard his bitch?" is a line I for some reason find equally strangely hilarious and unironically awesome, no idea why.

Tango & Cash popped my cherry. Seriously.

One of my all time favorite guilty pleasure movies!
4:52 The villain of the movie...you mean Gul Dukat inside the limo?
Has Mark Alamo ever played anything but a villan? He was great as Gul Dukat though, who is, was and always will be the best villain in trek history.
Thanks for doing this snob i have a soft spot for these types of action comedys. God bless Stallone he tries to act but as soon as he opens his mouth the cringe begins. Tone it down a notch Palance. Was that Pepsi truck on route to waynes world?
The thing that surprises me the most about this movie is that Jack Palance _didn't_ eat those mice.
That movie was pretty good, I'm surprised that there wasn't any sequels.
@bigevilworldwide1 I thought it was a good popcorn, action flick.
I wish Kurt Russell was my dad. He's the best, one of my favorites. He has the best smile. The world could be falling down and his smile would make me feel safe.
I wish Kurt Russell was my daddy too-- wait, that's not what you meant
I do love this movie:) One of my many guilty pleasures.
RIP Bryon James. (Nice Poochinski ref)
I forgot what a great cast this movie had. Jack Palance is such a mega villain he has Lo Pan and Gul Ducat as his henchmen. Oh, I’ve heard of Tango and Cash. 😂😂.
11:37 - I like to think he wasn't actually cast in the movie. He just spontaneously appeared.
If you don't assign someone to chase Ron Howard away from the craft table he'll start feeding there and then he becomes your responsibility.
Really liked this back in the day - good stupid fun.
Stallone in glasses looks a little like Michael Crichton
4:16
remember kids, always wear your seat belts
Holy crap I loved Tango & Cash! Still love it!
This move rock! Nice work bro.
Can you review the buddy cop movie red steel I think it’s called.... it has Arnold S and Jim Belushi in it, when Russia sends over their top cop.
I think it was Red Heat. I love that movie! LOL
Yes!!!! Red heat you rock.
I was telling my wife about it and she didn’t believe me.
@@markmorris6721 The only reason I remember the title is because there was another movie (prison exploitation flick) that came out with the same name. LOL I did love Arnie and Belushi together.

Are we sure Jack Palance didn't bring the mice to the set and just acted with them off script?
One of the things I love about movies from that period is that the action scenes are not toned blue.
22:15 best highfive ever!
“Hong place, Hong time, asshole!” Holy shot I can’t breathe..
An underrated classic.
You know, I think I'd quite like a buddy cop film featuring Robert Z'Dar and Clint Howard in the starring roles
16:21
What am I watching, Sesame Street now?
That's funny because that actor played 'Mr.Noodle' during the 'Elmo's World' segment.
The fact it had so many problems and still turned out awesome is a testament to how Hollywood USED to be amazing and the force of talented actors could make things come to life.
