  • Hiking to Lago di Sorapis | Dolomites Italy (part 2) - 4K. Part 2 of our hike takes us past some pretty steep cliffs and more stunning scenery but we finally reach Lago di Sorapis and the rewards are absolutely worth it! This is listed as a moderate hike and is about 4 miles each way with an elevation gain of over 1400 feet. Join us on our hike up to the beautiful Lago di Sorapis through lush green forests, past WW2 bunkers and over 1000 foot cliffs! Plus, you'll get to learn a bit about how I take photographs along the way.
Thanks for watching and if you're interested in the GRANDIOSE project check out more of my videos!

The place is Wonderful!! But it is too risky for me, it seems very difficult to do, respect for the courage☝️

Wow! We were planning to go there with our kids (10 and 12 years old) and the internet says that route 215 is pretty easy and safe. Is it that safe and easy route you’ve just shown to us?! I need to think twice :) But the views are stunning, thank you for the video!

Hi Anna - Yes, I think it is mostly safe and I saw younger children (under 10) with their parents while on the path. There are a few areas like the ones I showed where you must be careful but they are pretty short and most of the hike is beautiful and safe! Enjoy your trip, it is well worth it :)

Hi John, thanks for a great video. What time of day did you do this? We were planning to see a different spot in the morning and head here to start the trail at around midday (this will be on June 12th) - concerned about doing the really steep parts with lots of people around and know it gets very busy but am wondering if it being earlier in the season will mitigate this?

Hi Georgia, thanks I really appreciate the comment! We left early (7am) in the morning and the trail was not too crowded ( this was July 2nd ). The main concern I would have with starting on the trail in the afternoon would be if there were thunderstorms ( that seem to occur every time I've been to the Dolomites ), by the time the storm that hit us happened we were already at the lake so it was no big deal to let them pass. People on the trail were pretty good about making room for passing. Hope that is helpful :)

at first I thought of going there with the children, then alone, and now I think I'll have to give up going because I'm too afraid of heights... I'm really sad right now

Oh no, please go - it is so nice and the very high parts are easy to pass through, they don't make up very much of the route. My wife is afraid of heights also and as you can see she made it, no problem :)
