Undoubtedly among the most beautiful mountains in the world and for example one who has traveled the world as a famous survivalist and TV star as the Englishman Bear Grills has declared to be his favourite… ☺ Greetings from the Italian peninsula (Calabria region)! Ciao!
This is the single best guide to the Dolomites, all the others are vlogs but no specific laid out plan of attractions to hit. Thank you for this, very helpful. What was the weather like when you went?
We’re so glad to hear that! 🙏 The weather was honestly really great. We had one rainy day but it quickly cleared up in the afternoon and one day it was snowing but we high up in Passo Gardena so it was understandable!
@@a004 during our early morning hikes we needed a light puffer jacket because depending how high up you are it can get pretty cold. But once afternoon comes especially at lower altitudes like Tre Cime, it got crazy hot.
So professional and personal - love your presentation! We are in the Dolomites now and are using your recommendations to plan our next hikes. Thank you!
Congrats on such well captured content! Really great quality video/drone footage and time-lapses, with a wonderful commentary. Lucky to have visited the Dolomites a few years ago and can hardly wait to return! What an amazing place!
Many thanks for the beautiful video and the places you mention are all great. A place that is missing (and I've noticed this also in other Dolomites video by foreign authors) are the Pale di San Martino (Pala group). The Dolomites have many many beautiful places but, if I was forced to choose the top of the tops (tough choice there) I would give that name. I can tell you that they are literally amazing.
Thank you so much, I so confuse where should I stay and start to visit the Dolomites. My mistake is planned on May TT~ still think about how to see the view like your video.

Oh yes another guide! 🤩 it’s so great learning these places while seeing the amazing footage. The other Dolomites were very good and vlog but this felt special.
Absolutely amazing quality content, great storytelling and insider advices. Your channel is an absolute gem of an find! Looking forward to see much more!
Wow great work on this video! This is now on my bucket list. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience! Can you advise on when would be an ideal time to visit this area if you would do this again?
Great question! The temperature changes quite drastically year after year so between the months of June-Sept is definitely the best time to visit with pretty much everything being open!
I have watched your excellent and informative video many times and shared it with many people. Can I ask another question: after hiking from Rif Aronzo to Rif Lavaredo then Locatelli, should we turn back to Aronzo the same way, or continue counter clockwise to finish the Tre Chime loop? The reason is I heard the second half of the loop is more strenuous and longer, so I don’t know if it’s worth it. Thanks
Yes you are correct that the 2nd half of the hike is more strenuous! By finishing the loop you do get different perspectives of Tre Cime however if you want to save time/energy and mainly care about the iconic view of Tre Cime that you usually see online then we’d say to go back the same way! The first half of the hike in our opinion was more enjoyable and did have better views!
Every year the weather conditions are quite different in the Dolomites so there’s a chance you might not be able to visit some of the attractions but most of the main ones seem to operate until the very end of October! We wouldn’t recommend visiting anytime in November.
First, this was really insightful to watch. Second, in one of the final clips there was a place with these structures coming out from the ground, lots of them. Some had these round rocks on top of them. What is that place? Wouldn’t mind sharing that? It would be nice to add that to the list in case we wanted to go in the future. Thanks!
That’s a great spot to check out as well. If you search Earth Pyramids Renon on Google maps they should pop up! The drive there is a bit tight but taking your time it’s worth the trip 🙌
Great question! Honestly it changes year to year unfortunately. Sometimes the weather will great and they’ll keep the cable cars running got longer and other times they’ll close at the end of September. Our recommendation is to go as early as possible!
Thanks for making this video, the professional videography is such a treat! Could I know what drone did you use for the awesome aerial shots? And what is the camera you use at ground level? Keep up the fantastic work! Have subscribed to your channel.
Absolutely amazing vlog and super clear and informative explanations! I've seen lots of other vlogs and this is near the top! Ill be sharing this with all my traveler friends :)) Keep the good travels up!
This video is fantastic, very informative and beautifully shot! Really enjoyed it. What month did you go? We are going to the Dolomites in September and are so excited. I am having a hard time deciding whether to hike up Seceda from the bottom, or take the lift up to the ridge - I believe the hike up and down is pretty difficult, but am worried that if we got the lift up and down instead there wouldn't be too much to do when we reach the ridge. Do you think there is enough trails to do at the ridge in order to spend a lot of time up there? Where did you find these trails? Sorry for all the questions, just struggled to find info on this :) Thanks so much!
September is a great time to go! We went in early October so you should get even better weather and conditions than we did. Yes to hike the whole way from the base of Ortisei is very time consuming but if you want to experience the hike and catch sights along the way we’d recommend taking the Col Raiser cable car which takes you about 60% of the way there and to begin your hike to the summit after. The trails at the summit are mostly to take you to different areas at the summit like the cafes or different vantage points. We wouldn’t say it’ll satisfy anyone looking to hike a good bit. The summit is very expansive so there are lots of viewpoints and areas to walk to so it’s great for people like us looking to capture the best content!
Take the lift up to Secada! All kinda of trails around from the top. That place is Amazing. I spent 4hrs up there and all I did was walk up to the Cross. Also recommend September, as I did last year. I made the mistake of only spending 3 days in Ortisei last year. Going back as part of a Austria, Slovenia, Dolomites, back to Austria road trip in 3 weeks.
Hi, Lauren! Thank you for this beautiful video and all the information you've given to us. We're planning a July trip to the Dolomites. Everything we see inspires us. Your video gives practical information, not the string of "Amazing, dude" comments we see on so many other videos. Thanks! I saw on your itinerary that you stayed 5 nights in Cortina. Since you two drove a car, perhaps this question might not be something you can answer. Still, do you know if Cortina is well-linked by public transportation to the nearby sights that you saw?
Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out and we’re so glad to hear you enjoyed our video and are en route to planning your trip to the Dolomites ☺️ We’re honestly not too informed on the bus system in Cortina d’Ampezzo area but do know that there are a number of lines that get you to major stops! For example, you could take two buses from Cortina to Rifugio Auronzo for the Tre Cime di Lavaredo hike. I would highly suggest reaching out to your hotel/B&B for a bus schedule and routes! Sometimes accommodations can also give you a free of discounted public transportation pass during your stay for certain routes which is very convenient. As you’re going in July (high season), the daily buses will be running as they start service in June and end in October!
@@LaurenJason Excellent! Hadn't heard of the discounted pass. Thank you for the advice. We'll check out more of your videos. I'm sure you have one on either Milan or Venice. So stoked for this trip! Happy travels!
We personally spent 10 days there because we factored in 2-3 days of relaxing or in case the weather was bad. I think if you really pushed the itinerary it can be done in 7-8 days! But again just consider the rain can last several hours or even snow depending on the season and location which can make it difficult to complete everything.
That would be such a great time to go! We used a few different songs so if you can let us know at which time stamp of the video the song is playing, we can definitely let you know!
@@LaurenJason Hi Lauren. Great thanks. It is the song which starts at the very beginning of the video. Do you know if the song can be found on Musicbed, Audiojungle, etc.??
Thanks for the beautiful video. Can I ask you how people get to see Tres Chime at sunrise when the parking lot at Rifugio Aronzo is not open until 8:00 am? We’re going at the end of September. Thanks
Great question! When we went the parking lot didn’t have an opening time as people camp there overnight. What you may be referring to is the toll road which is heavily seasonal. During the high summer, it’s open 24 hours a day while during the fall it sometimes will open at 7am or 8am. Every year this seems to change as we went early October and the road opened at 7am while our friends went mid Sept a couple years later and they didn’t open the road until about 9am.
Hi first your channel is awesome thank you for sharing, I plan to visit this August, I was wondering from compatch how do you recalculate that viewpoint in alpe di suisi?
We just walked over from Compatch which took about an hour! Here’s a Google maps link to the spot where we took the photos: maps.app.goo.gl/GQ7YMMjCKtpt5Cd46?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
@@LaurenJason thanks so much for that and for getting back to me so quick I appreciate it, is there a specific trail number you would recommend following to reach that spot?
Yes we didn't mention it because it wasn't in our top 10 spots personally! We only mentioned it as a potential area for someone to stay in. Don't get us wrong, Cortina is absolutely stunning! Maybe in the future we'll create a top 20 video and Cortina would definitely be included then. Thanks for watching!

We a are planning our trip to the Dolomites, your great great video is helping a lot. But I need more information about the areas that are accessible via buses. We loved the Passo Gardena, Lago di Braises y St. Magdalena, but we would like to make the connections between towns by buses, could that be feasible? Please advise
The Dolomites area has a fairly good bus system but I would highly recommend staying in Cortina as the most popular spots such as Tre Cime, Sorapis, and Seceda can all be reached by bus. You can use an app called Moovit to find the schedule and routes.
In terms of getting around towns, it’s not as easy as there’s no bus that we know of that connects cortina and ortisei and will need to fork over quite a bit of money to get a shared transfer between
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for watching our top 10 Dolomites video. We wanted to share a BONUS 5 spots that you don't want to miss out on in the Italian alps! 1. Armentara Meadows - easy hike with stunning mountain views. Especially worth it during the summer when the grass is a vibrant green. 2. Lago Federa - absolutely mindblowing during the fall season as the larches turn bright orange/yellow. Head there early to catch a calm reflection. 3. Lago di Sorapis - a moderate hike that takes 2 hours to complete but during the spring/summer season the lake emits an incredible teal colour. 4. San Martino di Castrozza - underrated and a bit of a hidden gem. This beautiful resort town has some of the best views of anyone can ask for. 5. Marmolada - highest mountain peak in the Dolomites. Accessible by cable car and there's going to be snow at the top. Enjoy your trip to the Dolomites! 😄
We visited in September! The Dolomites being so vast and also at different altitudes creates a lot of different seasonal looks. Some areas such as Tre Cime was exactly as it is in summer but Val Gardena sits extremely high so many spots already lots of snow fallen!
Well, I learned skiing on the Seiser Alm mid 60's. As an adult, in the late 70's, the 80's and early 90's the Dolomites were my playground for hiking, climbing and skiing. Then the tourism became too much. As of today, I perceive this area as a tourist nightmare. A no-go area.
There’s a lot of places with over tourism but we honestly found Seiser Alm nowhere near as busy as some of the other attractions in the Dolomites! We felt like we were the only ones there especially when we compare it to Tre Cime!
We suggest to stay in Cortina d’Ampezzo and in Ortisei! Split your time in half between both so if you’re staying 8 days in the Dolomites, stay 4 days in each town
That’s such a great time to go! Drone laws in the Dolomites follow the drone laws of Italy. From what we’ve seen everyone seems to be flying it no problem but there are clear signs for places you can no longer fly it such as Val di Funes
Like ALL Dolomite videos, they don't point out the MAJOR issue of not being able to access or see or explore many /most of the best areas due to too much snow and cable cars not running during some months. June is being touted as a greta time to go , but after dropping 10K on tickets , rentals, leases, etc. we get here and most places are inaccessible because of the deep snow on higher trails and constant dialy fog and nonstop rain. Thats fine if you expect to get that, but we are being led to believe that June onward is free of this terrible weather.
We're sorry to hear about your experience! But the weather in the Dolomites changes year to year with it often being drastic. For example, we were there in early October and we had access to pretty much all the cable cars and no snow anywhere. However, our friends went the year after at the beginning of September, an entire month early, and the road up to Tre Cime was closed because of the snow/ice. Tre Cime isn't considered a high point in the Dolomites even. We've heard of lots of people having the most amazing weather in June so truthfully every year will be different!
Only 10 spots ? A lot are missing : Baita Segantini, Passo Rolle, Val Venegia, Val San Lucano, Alleghe lake, Colle San Lucia, Passo Giau, Cinque Torri, Alta Badia, Passo Sella, Sasso Podoi, Ciampedie, Torri del Vaiolet, Passo Fedaia, Marmolada, etc.
Yes there are so many beautiful places in the Dolomites just as there is for nearly every region of any country. We wanted to drill down our favorite top 10 spots for the Dolomites so viewers can have a starting place in planning their trips!
It really depends on the amount of snow for that year! Closures are highly dependent on weather conditions and can happen at anytime which is why it’s hard to know if anything will be 100% open unless in high season!

is there any public transport in the Dolomites while visiting this sites?
During the high season yes there are lots of public transport you can take for pretty much all these spots!
when did you visit? looks like summer and autumn and winter all together?
We felt like we were the only ones there especially when we compare it to Tre Cime!
can u recommend where are the best areas places to sleep for this trip?
We suggest to stay in Cortina d’Ampezzo and in Ortisei! Split your time in half between both so if you’re staying 8 days in the Dolomites, stay 4 days in each town
What time of the year did you visit? thank you
We went in very early October!
Super 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you!🙌
Can you share where and what car you rented during your stay?
We rented an Audi A3 with Sixt!
is it possible to go to cadini di misurina on april?
What type of drone do you use?
We use the mini 3 pro!
It was shot like a movie, I really like it
@@kshen443 thank you! 🥰
When dis you visit this place? When is the best time to visit?
High season is always the summer months between June-end of September but it’s also the busiest. We went in September!
what month did you visit?
This was the very beginning of October!
What week/month was this?
This was at the very end of September to early October!
What month was this?
We went in early October!
i ll be there end of June!! anybody knows if drones are allowed? no helicopter, just a dji mini 2 :)
That’s such a great time to go! Drone laws in the Dolomites follow the drone laws of Italy. From what we’ve seen everyone seems to be flying it no problem but there are clear signs for places you can no longer fly it such as Val di Funes
@@LaurenJason thanks for taking the time to reply!
@@arxoalex no problem! Enjoy the Dolomites 😍
Whoa whoa whoa what do you mean snow in june
We're sorry to hear about your experience! But the weather in the Dolomites changes year to year with it often being drastic. For example, we were there in early October and we had access to pretty much all the cable cars and no snow anywhere. However, our friends went the year after at the beginning of September, an entire month early, and the road up to Tre Cime was closed because of the snow/ice. Tre Cime isn't considered a high point in the Dolomites even. We've heard of lots of people having the most amazing weather in June so truthfully every year will be different!

I think Italian Alps are more beautiful than Swiss Alps
We have yet to visit the Swiss alps but the Dolomites sure are incredible!
Yes.
Meanwhile, people from Bellino province: :'(
Hopefully we can include that next time we do a top 20 video! There are just too many beautiful places in the Dolomites 😭
is it possible to go to cadini di misurina on april?
It really depends on the amount of snow for that year! Closures are highly dependent on weather conditions and can happen at anytime which is why it’s hard to know if anything will be 100% open unless in high season!
