I’m a hairdresser so lots of bridezillas in my career. My two favorite stories are: Firstly, newer hairdresser at the time, maybe a year of experience. Bride and I start working about 6 months before her wedding to color correct her bleached platinum hair back to her natural almost black color since her new in-laws are super traditional and conservative. Sure, no problem. Then we had the hair trials. She scheduled (and paid for) 11 trials. By now red flags are going up left and right. The week before the wedding she decides she wants her hair back to platinum. I carefully explained that I couldn’t without damaging her hair and couldn’t guarantee it would be pretty and not orange. She begins yelling at me. Finally get her calm and she begins to demand I perm her hair into curling iron beach waves then. Nope, can’t perm your hair to look like hot iron work. I cried and fired her as a client the week before her wedding. She sent me an apology after the wedding, but that was a hard one. Second, bride was the best. She had been my client for about 3 years so I watched her and her now husband meet, fall in love, get engaged...it was a huge honor to do her hair and also attend her wedding. Over the course of doing her hair I picked up that her mom was a narcissistic and selfish bitch. Apparently she wanted a silver MOB dress and made planning the wedding a nightmare. Day of wedding I’m working on my clients hair and MOB starts bitching that she doesn’t like the brides choice in the hairstyle and blah blah blah. I kicked her out of the suite. Most vindictive pleasure. I told her we only had room for the ladies my team and I were working on (bride and bridesmaids and my team of makeup artists and hairdressers) and let her know she could wait in the hall or we’d see her at the ceremony. My bride cried with relief when MOB was gone.
I baked for a really cool bride. They had an October wedding and wanted me to go crazy with the design. I made a white SMB cake with elegant spider webbbing and their initials on the top. They had 100 cupcakes black velvet with caramel filling and espresso icing. I made marbled fondant spooky cameo skulls with roses. Very fun. She loved it and so did the groom. I was so worried about the black icing getting on her dress. I had anxiety but it was fine.

I'm a cellist who has played lots of weddings and I have a groomzilla story :) First off, at the rehearsal, the wedding planner comes up to us and says "the bride and groom don't want to see you during the wedding, so set over there so you won't be seen". Then after the rehearsal, they made all the bridesmaids and groomsmen refill the the vases on the tables so the water level would be level. Crazy. Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish there was a way to post pics in comments. I'd post a picture of my niece and nephew-in-law's wedding cake. Their whole wedding theme was Tim Burton. For the visuals pre and post wedding, I put the two of them into his adapted stories and went from Alice In Wonderland to The Corpse Bride. Took me 3 months to do the graphics, storyboard and storyline. But somehow the baker was able to take the concept from the TV screen to the cake. I don't know how she did it, but the cake looked insane. In a good way.
I had a Celtic wedding and we found a cake maker who managed to pull off our idea of a three tiered cake topped with a Viking longboat recreated with sugar work. She went several steps further and incorporated our wedding colours on the sail of the boat then ran blue icing down the side of the cake like a river which then pooled at the bottom with two swans! It's was so cool!
So, not technically my bridezilla story, but still worth sharing. My niece bridezilla'd on her wedding planner to the point the planner bailed on her a week before her wedding. It was super bad ya'll, and went on for a few months leading up to the date. She ended up having to drastically decrease the size of her wedding..guests and venue...and was in quite a state trying to find someone who could make her cake last minute, as the original baker/caterer was a relative of the planner and bailed in solidarity. (fight the power!) So being the Guncle of the family (gay uncle) of course I had a friend who makes wedding cakes. We all do, somehow. I think it's a law. Anyway, my friend made her wedding cake, grooms cake, and several dozen cupcakes at his "family discount" as a favor to me. She got a tremendous deal considering it was an emergency job for him to take on and the price he gave her was drastically lower than her original cake...and honestly, much more beautiful (I saw the pics). Not only did she not send my friend a thank you card and a tip since she had the funds left in her budget as I recommended she do, but she also failed to reimburse me for paying him in advance (ok, I'd just count it as a part of the wedding gift, no biggie); BUT, since her plans had to be so drastically downsized, I WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE CUT FROM THE INVITATION LIST. He told me after I talked to him about not being invited that she was very rude him when he delivered the cake; his partner was with him and read her to dirt and made her cry.
After all you did for her she cut you from the wedding!!! That is not forgivable and she didn’t pay for the cake!! That is bad karma and not something I would do on my wedding day!!!

My husband and I had a three tier cheesecake wedding cake each tier had a different flavor and had raspberry drizzle , and topped with flowers. The bottom tier was white chocolate, middle tier almond, and top tier was key lime that we saved for the one year anniversary. That was almost 13 years ago and people still talk about the cake.

Beautiful cake. You’re always so creative in your design. I never had a “real” wedding cake. My husband is Polish, and most of his family and Polish friends didn’t give a hoot about a wedding cake. It was also my 2nd marriage, and I had already had a wedding cake. Well sorta, cake was not of my choosing. Cake came as part of the wedding “package deal”. My Mom orchestrated everything...I didn’t have any input whatsoever. I was very young. Sooooo, second time around since I knew no one was particularly interested in wedding cake I rented... “large gasp here”, a cake dummy decorated in royal icing. And since this was the early 70’s, wedding cake rentals were actually quite the rage. I did make a lovely ruby covered cake for our 40th. Will be 43 years married this year. So maybe on my 50th, I’ll make a actual “wedding cake”. I would keep my wedding cake monochromatic....all white. With some kind of white gumpaste or buttercream flowers, maybe roses. And probably Bas relief design, which I think looks very elegant. But we all know styles and trends change. So who knows what will be popular 7 years from now!!?????? Only time will tell. Oh and ps: I was piped out of the church with by my good friends husband, piping in full Scottish regalia. Wish ya coulda seen the look on my Polish guests faces...🤣🤣. They had never seen a Scottish piper before. And man oh man, those bagpipes were LOUD....great memories...❤️
If my husband was still alive we were going to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with vowel renewals I would have loved to have a beautiful white cake with cascading purple flowers going down and he had said that he wanted Harley-Davidson motorcycles represented because he had three bikes and he was a real fan and the more I watched you the more I know I would have loved for you to have made it you have a brilliant mind and are so creative thank you for sharing your work and your talent keep on caking
I actually made my wedding cake inspired by the monochromatic cake in man about cake, literally the day before me wedding lol I loved my cake so much I even added tiny chocolate skulls! Everyone called me crazy but I’d so it all over again. ❤️ My top tier was cookies and cream 🥺✨
My dream wedding cake would be crescent moon and lace theme. Or moon phases and lace theme. Colors would be black, vintage off white lace colors, rose gold and antique gold with hints of silver and iridescent glitter. Throw in some star bursts and Maybe some deep teal. I'm making my wedding cake for next May. Going to do a 3 tier teal/blue cake with copper brushstrokes and a succulent statement "flower". The top 2 cakes will be chocolate/raspberry and the bottom tier is going to be a thinner hazelnut brownie make to look like a tree round with chocolate bark and moss (so giving the illusion of a 2 tier cake instead of 3). As for bridezilla stories, I paint portraits in my spare time. I had someone ask if I could do one of "the moment she got married" Okay no problem, I usually work off a photo and I tell her this. No she doesn't want one from a photo, she wants a live portrait done. Okay I do those on occasion. I show her the style of my live portraits (they're freer and less photo-like). No those aren't acceptable, it has to be photo-like. Okay... I tell her I it'll be ready 2 weeks after the wedding, not acceptable I have to be able to gift it to her by the reception?? Turns out she expected a photo-realistic painting, done within 30min, framed, gifted to her and her husband, oh and I can't be at the ceremony because it would be distracting but I should be able to paint from a live-stream video somehow. I ended the conversation by saying what she needed was a camera and a printer.
my dream wedding cake was made for me by a friend who works at a cakery. it was dark chocolate sponge with mango-maracuja-cream filling and chocolate ganache coating the outside. she also added some purple flowers and it was DELICIOUS.

LOVE THIS!!!! Piping is my favourite way to decorate cakes. The way I originally learned to adorn cakes back in the 70s!!! Love the branches and the Rafaello candies for rose centres!!!

I hadn't really thought about what my dream wedding cake would be, but I do know some of my favorite things. I love custards, particularly creme brulee. Mine and my partner's favorite tea is called "Paris" and we first had it at a lovely little steampunk themed high tea shop in Portland, OR, called "Clockwork Rose". We're both a big fan of fresh fruits, especially blueberries (him) and persimmons (me). I'm also a fan of eating and candying flowers, especially tasty ones like fragrant roses, violets, hibiscus, hollyhock, forget-me-not, chicory, perennial phlox, mallows, and fragrant peonies. We like how fresh cream, clotted cream, and mascarpone taste, especially when only lightly sweetened. I have no idea if these flavors would work well together or not. I think I would want a cake that had a tea flavored tier, a persimmon and spice flavored tier, a blueberry or huckleberry flavored tier, and maybe a rose flavored tier or creme brulee fruit tart on the top. I think some creme brulee flavored pastry cream would be nice between the layers. Frost with a lightly sweetened clotted cream/mascarpone based meringue buttercream. Decorate with fresh fruits and candied or fresh flowers. I'm more interested in having delicious flavors and mouthfeel than having something themed. I dunno, these might be better as cupcakes and mini tarts. An interesting thought experiment, nonetheless.

My dream cake would be a traditional white wedding cake but on the back side, it looks curtains drawn back and each tier is a different Marvel character. Definitely have to have Captain America and The Winter Solider in there!

My Fantasy cake would be a vanilla cake with raspberry coulis, and a white chocolate ganache filling with Italian Meringue frosting with piped "flowers" and white & dark chocolate "raspberries" (basically truffles with metallic raspberry color because I can't have seeds or pieces of nuts because I have Chrohn's disease but raspberries are my Favorite!) I would also have raspberry & white chocolate ganache filled macarons, cupcakes, and cake pops to decorate the cake table. *Kids don't want to wait for you to cut the cake so cake pops prevent fingers in frosting!* The final touch to my Dream cake would be the topper.....it would be a Velma from Scooby Doo doll with a wedding dress and an Eval Knievel doll on a Vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle. (My husband always wanted to be Eval Knievel And he has called me Velma since we dated when we were kids.)

I saw pictures of a sanctuary set up for a wedding that looked like a wintery forest with branchy looking trees and white lights and it was so beautiful and ethereal looking. As a photographer, I concur. I think part of the reason bridzillas happen is because of momzillas. I've got a fee bridezillas stories that were pretty bad. But the momzilla stories? That list is longer than Empire State building.
My best friend since forever was not a bridezilla, however she did change the colors of her party last minute from Halloween theme to purple and silver (she got married November 2nd). We spent a couple of days before the wedding painting plastic pumpkins 😂. All of the dresses were fall jewel themed colors, so nothing else changed, and her invitations/paper stuff had already been purple and silver, so it was literally just the decorations that needed a bit of sprucing up. And we all enjoyed the painting and booze party that resulted.
Ooh- and Gin cake, lemon frosting. I know gin isn’t for everyone, so maybe another tier would be old fashioned themed, and maybe a rum and soda tier too.
This cake is so beautiful! I’m a metal girl through and through so I’d have a black cake with some glitz (I don’t like glitter on food because you’re eating plastic). Maybe some rose gold since rose gold and black look amazing together! Skulls, pentagrams, branches, coffins, black roses. Anything that would look really cool dark and fits in with the metal theme. Moths have been a big thing in goth clothing lately. I’m also a major nerd and when I was this was a wedding cake video I don’t know why but I thought of Star Wars! I also love world of Warcraft. I’d love to see a world of Warcraft cake or wedding cake, because yes us nerds have themed weddings 🤣

My dream wedding cake would be crescent moon and lace theme. Or moon phases and lace theme. Colors would be black, vintage off white lace colors, rose gold and antique gold with hints of silver and iridescent glitter. Throw in some star bursts and Maybe some deep teal. I'm making my wedding cake for next May. Going to do a 3 tier teal/blue cake with copper brushstrokes and a succulent statement "flower". The top 2 cakes will be chocolate/raspberry and the bottom tier is going to be a thinner hazelnut brownie make to look like a tree round with chocolate bark and moss (so giving the illusion of a 2 tier cake instead of 3).
As for bridezilla stories, I paint portraits in my spare time. I had someone ask if I could do one of "the moment she got married" Okay no problem, I usually work off a photo and I tell her this. No she doesn't want one from a photo, she wants a live portrait done. Okay I do those on occasion. I show her the style of my live portraits (they're freer and less photo-like). No those aren't acceptable, it has to be photo-like. Okay... I tell her I it'll be ready 2 weeks after the wedding, not acceptable I have to be able to gift it to her by the reception?? Turns out she expected a photo-realistic painting, done within 30min, framed, gifted to her and her husband, oh and I can't be at the ceremony because it would be distracting but I should be able to paint from a live-stream video somehow. I ended the conversation by saying what she needed was a camera and a printer.

my dream wedding cake was made for me by a friend who works at a cakery. it was dark chocolate sponge with mango-maracuja-cream filling and chocolate ganache coating the outside. she also added some purple flowers and it was DELICIOUS.

My absolute dream wedding cake would be a night time themed hombre with gold accents and a gold moon, some small gold stars, white to indigo gradient with white starting at the top, indigo drip, and then lastly some hombre wild roses that are white on the outside of the petal and indigo going inwards

LOVE THIS!!!! Piping is my favourite way to decorate cakes. The way I originally learned to adorn cakes back in the 70s!!! Love the branches and the Rafaello candies for rose centres!!!

I hadn't really thought about what my dream wedding cake would be, but I do know some of my favorite things. I love custards, particularly creme brulee. Mine and my partner's favorite tea is called "Paris" and we first had it at a lovely little steampunk themed high tea shop in Portland, OR, called "Clockwork Rose". We're both a big fan of fresh fruits, especially blueberries (him) and persimmons (me). I'm also a fan of eating and candying flowers, especially tasty ones like fragrant roses, violets, hibiscus, hollyhock, forget-me-not, chicory, perennial phlox, mallows, and fragrant peonies. We like how fresh cream, clotted cream, and mascarpone taste, especially when only lightly sweetened.
I have no idea if these flavors would work well together or not. I think I would want a cake that had a tea flavored tier, a persimmon and spice flavored tier, a blueberry or huckleberry flavored tier, and maybe a rose flavored tier or creme brulee fruit tart on the top. I think some creme brulee flavored pastry cream would be nice between the layers. Frost with a lightly sweetened clotted cream/mascarpone based meringue buttercream. Decorate with fresh fruits and candied or fresh flowers. I'm more interested in having delicious flavors and mouthfeel than having something themed. I dunno, these might be better as cupcakes and mini tarts. An interesting thought experiment, nonetheless.

My Fantasy cake would be a vanilla cake with raspberry coulis, and a white chocolate ganache filling with Italian Meringue frosting with piped "flowers" and white & dark chocolate "raspberries" (basically truffles with metallic raspberry color because I can't have seeds or pieces of nuts because I have Chrohn's disease but raspberries are my Favorite!)
I would also have raspberry & white chocolate ganache filled macarons, cupcakes, and cake pops to decorate the cake table. *Kids don't want to wait for you to cut the cake so cake pops prevent fingers in frosting!*
The final touch to my Dream cake would be the topper.....it would be a Velma from Scooby Doo doll with a wedding dress and an Eval Knievel doll on a Vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle. (My husband always wanted to be Eval Knievel And he has called me Velma since we dated when we were kids.)

Love it! The initials my husband and myself are AC/DC so we had the AC/DC logo with the lightening bolt piped onto our cake. Everyone thought it would look horrible, but it looked so good!

I think my dream wedding cake would have been something very wintery, silver, white and icy blue. I saw pictures of a sanctuary set up for a wedding that looked like a wintery forest with branchy looking trees and white lights and it was so beautiful and ethereal looking. I always wondered what their cake looked like!? Also a big shout out to you for not soaking your sponge in that disgusting sweet syrupy stuff!

As a photographer, I concur. I think part of the reason bridzillas happen is because of momzillas. I've got a fee bridezillas stories that were pretty bad. But the momzilla stories? That list is longer than Empire State building.

My best friend since forever was not a bridezilla, however she did change the colors of her party last minute from Halloween theme to purple and silver (she got married November 2nd). We spent a couple of days before the wedding painting plastic pumpkins 😂. All of the dresses were fall jewel themed colors, so nothing else changed, and her invitations/paper stuff had already been purple and silver, so it was literally just the decorations that needed a bit of sprucing up. And we all enjoyed the painting and booze party that resulted.
Ooh- and Gin cake, lemon frosting. I know gin isn’t for everyone, so maybe another tier would be old fashioned themed, and maybe a rum and soda tier too.

This cake is so beautiful! I’m a metal girl through and through so I’d have a black cake with some glitz (I don’t like glitter on food because you’re eating plastic). Maybe some rose gold since rose gold and black look amazing together! Skulls, pentagrams, branches, coffins, black roses. Anything that would look really cool dark and fits in with the metal theme. Moths have been a big thing in goth clothing lately. I’m also a major nerd and when I was this was a wedding cake video I don’t know why but I thought of Star Wars! I also love world of Warcraft. I’d love to see a world of Warcraft cake or wedding cake, because yes us nerds have themed weddings 🤣
