  • Budget Debra SI-6UX (similar to SI-8UX and SI-4UX) sound mixer review... with almost full FX effects test. It's not really bike's related - but you need some equipment for your home studio. Description below.
    If you are starting a home studio - most likely you will need some extra equipment.
    In this review, I'm looking at the affordable audio mixer - which I plan to use for mixing sound and music on this channel, as well during live performances (I hope COVID lockdown will finish soon - we all should have hope).
    I was looking for a minimum 6 line mixer - with phantom power, some FX capabilities and tone regulation. And the most important - max price 100 Euro.
    - YAMAHA MG06X - 130 Euros... and really basic. But good quality for sure.
    - Behringer Xenyx 1002FX - same... and not all people were happy with this one.
    - Debra SI-6UX -.... guess....
    So the general selection was limited. And it's still - 20% above my budget.
    I found this one on AliExpress - with delivery from Czech Republic. It is always risky - that this would be a not what you need - but as I like to take the risk, I have ordered this one. And - so far - I'm quite happy. It is not really professional - but the price 69 Euro including shipping - was a good one. And so far - I think it was a good decision. For what I need - it works perfectly fine.
    In this review:
    - Introduction and port description - just at the begining....
    - Long part related to FX effects test - • Cheap Sound Mixer SI-6...
    - Summary - • Cheap Sound Mixer SI-6...
    If you have questions - let me know in the comments. I have limited time - but I will try to do my best to answer. New cycling related topics are on the way....

      My mixer is still working ;-) So it is not so terrible at the end. But now I think I would buy a little bigger model - as we use often more than 6 lines for mics on stage (specially when the show is big). But it is fast to set up, Bluetooth we use to play background music for singers from tablet playlist and eventually to add effects if needed. My paid back long time ago.

    Thanks for this review. You've had this for awhile now, is it still working? Also, any idea what the specs are on the specs for the built in pre-amps on the mic inputs? (assuming there are pre-amps)

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  8 дней назад

      Hi. There are preamps for mics - but I would expect it is something really cheap... I didn't open mine and there was no much specs as expected. It works so far, but after a few years you can see that the resistors for volume set up per channel starts to give you some cracking effect. Cheap one as expected and it is fine if you set the level to something fixed. But - normally I was using channel 1 and 2 for vocals - and this was used so often to regulate the line gain level - that it is slowly starting to ask for replacement or to use different channel and keep those at fixed level. But I use this for more than 3 years now and in various conditions... so no surprise. But other than this - still fine... hope it would work for the next year as well.

    Hello,
    Thanks for your great review!!
    I’ve 2 questions: on beginning you talk about 12v power cord, do you confirm it’s 12v DC feeding the unit?
    Is the FX send output in stereo and if yes, are the pan knobs effective on this output??
    In advance, thanks for your attention and your answers😊 Fred

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  Год назад

      Hi... yes - it is 12V. I feed this sometimes from my externall 12V accu when there is no power source easily avaiable. The same I use for my speakers in those situations. Just 2 small accus and you go forward....

      My is working perfectly fine - so far. I'm using this for my work as well - conference calls etc... so I can use different mic's. Used 12 hours a day with USB connection. I used this as well for some performances - mixing in total 6 microphones - 2x2 wireless and 2 dynamic - using as well FX effects to change voice for performers. This was great so far. Hope you would have the good one without issues.

    Hi, could you share these experience.... Can the mixer set different FX Presets for different input. Such as Reverb for input 1 (mic), Chorus for inout 2 (guitar)? .... Also, for the USB output, is audio signal out in clear original vocal/instrument sound, or its as set with EQ and FX presets selection?

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  2 года назад

      Hi. So far all works fine - still. I use this mostly on stage. So - the FX is one in one time set for all channels - but you can select a channel to be used with FX (second row from bottom is per channel - so the knob is to set the level of influence). Output in USB is with set up parameters. So, what you set is what you hear. Not an extremely complicated - but there is only 1 stereo channel. Cheap... so cheap solution. If the FX general gain is up - you would hear some distortions on output. So, I suggest switching off gain for FX is no FX is planned. Then the sound is clear. I use Bluetooth as well on stage to send a background music (channel 7/8) - it works great as well. So far - I'm satisfied with this at this price. It was good buy...

    Thanks for a great review, Just one question! I want mix my microphone vocals along with backing tracks from my phone. Is possible to adjust the gain of the Bluetooth channel on the mixer?

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  Год назад +1

      Hi. In general, you can adjust the sound level of the Bluetooth in two ways - first on your phone (I normally set this to max) or on mixer - on channel 7/8 - this is what I normally use as we do the stage performances sometimes where we use background music from the tablet using Bluetooth. It works fine. Just one tip - it is good always to keep the FX set to mute - if not used - the FX is basic module there (at this price) - so as well if you do not use this - and it is not in mute stage - you can hear some noise... like a white noise signal. If you mute - then it is fine - no noise. If you use FX - then - that how it works... but in general, you would not hear this noise so easily.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  2 года назад

      Hi. This is a mixer - not a real Audio interface. So - the output would be just one stereo channel with all mixed. If you use provided USB. Of course - you can extract all this mixed with regular Line Out (Stereo Out) - and then put this to more professional audio mixer - if you own one (balanced output). I use normally this one with microphones. In my case - the noise level is pretty low. You can't really hear any noise. I would expect it would work fine as well with guitar - but as I do not have one to test - I would be careful answering this question. In general - this mixer is similar to a more expensive Beringer mixers - which are still an entry level mixers. And - so far mine is still working perfectly fine... I have so far 0 issues with this.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  Год назад

      Hi Li Ting Wong. Yes - I was using this with Zoom and Teams. I even used once FX effects to scare my friends on the other side ;) - keep in mind that you want to have oudio output on other card than the mixer is using.... in general. So you use the mixer to mix sources for mic in (then you use FX) when the output you use for example normal sound card from computer. You can eventually use mixer soundcard for in and out - but then be careful what you mix.... Now I use real Audio Interface... so the mixer is used only for mixing stage sources...

    Have you tried using multiple microphones with the eq adjusted to be higher or lower pitch according to which one the microphone performs best with for more accurate sound like how speakers with multiple drivers do it? This is why I want to get a mixer and use more than two microphones.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  13 дней назад

      I would answer like this - yes - I'm using a mix of microphones there with different characteristics. Some wired (for singers - dynamic and condenser beta), mostly wireless (COMICA duo set and handheld wireless UHF double set). You can set the low pas filter per line, regulate equalizer - but that's it - you can't really change a pitch (other than using EQ). The only way to keep this equal is using equalizer per channel - so - if your mics are more less giving you the same signal and characteristic - per channel modification of low/mid/high eq - would help to set same or close to the same feeling per mic. But - if those differ a lot - no way. In this case I think the only decent solution would be to use studio recording mixer - then have all separate lines recorded and use for example Melodyne to fix pitch per channel. But this kind of mixers is quite expensive - compared to what you have here. This one is quite basic - so do not expect too much... But for what you pay - I think it is good. After years - I do not like too much the line volume knobs - rotation is not so handy when you do live performance - slider type is a better solution. Like the main line out sliding level regulator.

      @@dreamersbike Are you getting clicking noises if you use it through USB as an interface?
      That's what I get with mine if I use it through USB and a review from someone who actually tried searching for a solution makes it sound hopeless.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  8 дней назад

      @@user-lh3uz1cp7y - no - I do not have any of this effects as you heard - mine works fine on USB. I think it could be related to the radio which is too close to the interface. Like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This "audio interface" is not well isolated. Did you try to keep this a little more far away from WIFI or Bluetooth transmitters? This USB interface is build using the cheapest silicon - so it is supporting all things at once - Bluetooth and Audio in/out on USB. Not the best solution... but this is what you get in all those cheap mixers which costs less than 200 USD/EUR. I think if you want a little better solution - I would look for Behringer USB series... Most likely they use similar silicon in side - but more QC is done and better isolation.

    How do you connect to your PC to record? - do you have a sperate audio interface? (I only see the two XLR outs)

    • @3D-eVo
      @3D-eVo 2 года назад +1

      USB is there with audio interface. So - when connected - you would see the sound card in the system. But - only one channel - stereo - so you can't separate like in high end audio interfaces (where you can for example set one mic to one channel and second to second... etc.). And - max 48kHz - so standard sound card. But of course - this si low end mixer - but for me works fine.

    How do you play music through and also record

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  Год назад

      So - you have a normal sound card there on USB. Not the best - but works. You can play music directly from computer to the mixer. The same as recording - there is a line-in on the card (or mic) which you can use to record the sound. This is one solution and this is how I recorded sound in this movie. Of course you have balanced line out as you see - which you can put as input to your sound card (Line-in normally - you just need a proper cable) - and you can record this way. So - two options there. USB - normal sound card - or line out and then you use what you prefer to record. Keep in mind it is just a basic mixer - so no channel separation - like normally you have on real audio interfaces. Currently I use this mostly on stage work - during small events. So - I do not use now the USB - mostly Bluetooth to connect the tablet and play the music - plus microphones.... with some FX for better echo etc....

      Hi. It has no voice suppression. So - if you want to use this for karaoke where you want to eliminate vocals - then - no way. If you have karaoke ready music - then it is fine. can you power the mixer via usb?

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike  2 месяца назад

      Hi. No... the USB is only for PC communication (music card). Power supply is 12V separate to the mixer. I think the problem is the 48V for condenser mics... it could be difficult to power all on 5V... plus every line has a small amplifier... and effects.

      It has low power... my headphones are 250 Ohms... so it would not drive those. Led's which you see are related to signal out level - as it outputs balanced signal. Headphones are using separate amplifier and line. You can amplify a little on input - on channel - but then it would be clipping. Headphones you have to output to external headphone amplifier to have decent level. But this is what you pay for....

      Those are digital effects - so I do not know what you expect. And - those sounds differently - unless you have issues with hearing - then I agree - all are the same. And at this price? I use this on stage sometimes (for theater performances, not music) and it is good for this. For music production - just use DAW software with real audio interface - not a cheap mixer from China.... it is not a great idea to use this as your production equipment. Especially that the audio interface is as well quite cheap... If you want a good one - go for SONY or more reliable producers... But of course price would be a little different - as probably you know. For vlogging or fighting with scammers - this one is good enough...
