So u don't have to buy a audio interface if u own thus mixer (I may buy one but been told its more for live streams instead if jamming

Hi i have a mac book pro. I already have 8FX. I am not allowed to download any drivers as it is an office laptop. By default 8FX records L + R which works for me to perform
music for my friends on WebEx meetings.
My Question is: What does 12FX record by default without installing any drivers is it L+R or is it Mic 1 + 2?
This will help me decide if i should go for 12 FX.

Hello! I have a question, how can I make the microphone connected to my mixer go to my iphone for a live broadcast?

I'm just a little confused on one thing. If I wanted to record the EQ and effects, I would have to select Inputs 3+4 as Mix L+R. So in my DAW, would I select to record from Mix L+R on my track, or from Mic inputs 1+2? If I have to select Mix L+R as the recording on my tracks (to get EQ and effects), would I be able to set it to record Mix L+R on 2 different tracks in my DAW so I can record 2 separate tracks, both with EQ and effects? Also, with recording from Mix L+R, would it also record the audio coming from the usb, or only from inputs 1+2?
Mix L+R means every channel that you hear, including USB, that includes EQ and FX.
Thx a lot for this video, but I still struggling with it. what I actually want is to connect the Soundcraft to my computer. My voice is going thru the Soundcraft but de music however, I'm using a backtrack is stored on my PC. I just can't get it running together so to speak. So playback the backtrack on the PC while me singing thru the Soundcraft and record it all in my recording software such as Audacity. You might have a solution fro me?
Why i can't get any sound when i connected this mixer to a PC through Scarlet? I know ot works i got the effect light blinking but i can't get any sound. Im trying to use Audacity to record podcast. Thank you so much ❤❤

Thanks for your excellent video, I have an issue when I try to record , When I record using Ableton and Soundcraft Notepad and a microphone connected to it, the sound from the microphone and the sound from the playback track are being mixed together on the recording track. Thanks again.

I'm planning to purchase this to connect it to a phone for live streaming. However, the phone accepts only 2 channels to go through in and out. My question is, will this mixer work fine with my case? Or should I get the 8 line version (8fx) . The 8fx model computer driver shows only chanel 1 & 2 and it gives you the option to do Mix L&R for chanel 1 &2 .. it is (USB 2in\2out)

Correct, 12FX USB out 1&2 are always mixer channels 1&2.
But, all Notepad series have USB 4in/4out.
Would you recommend it for a mini live band? (Ac guitar, vox, bass and cajon), I’m looking for a good sounding mixer
Yes, it should work just fine. Built in FX are great too.

Thanks for the video... I have this mixer. Question - When multitracking, does the audio which is returned from playback through USB also loop back through the L+R USB sends with signal from any analog inputs to the other channels? ... In other words whether or not the onboard eq and effects could be used on those other channel inputs in multitracking mode for quickly putting together something instead of doing everything in post?
As I have explained in the video, there are 2 stereo channels that return from the PC, 1 stereo on mixer channel 9/10 and the other stereo return for headphones (switch between Main or USB 3-4). There is no option to return audio from PC on any other channels.
The return to each channel is on bigger Soundcraft 12/22MTK series mixers.
Reading the comment again, the answer is yes. when you have L+R USB, everything on the MAIN is sent to PC, including USB playback on Ch 9/10.
Yeah figured as much. Let's face it if we had more money to spend we would undoubtedly go for the higher models from soundcraft or other brands for this capability 😊😊. Anyways thanks for responding!

I have a Motu M4 but need more inputs in order to plug 2 stereo synths withtout unplug my others product each time i need :(. So not for record all at the same time, but just be more pratical.
So i was thinking about a small mixer with 4*4 USB audio interface and sell my Motu; or keep the Motu M4 and add a simple analog mixer with pro quality...
I don't need Eq or effects.... Can you say me your advice in my case ? Thank you !
Though I don't have MOTU M4 to compare, but reading the spects, MOTU looks to have higher Signal-to-Noise ratio.
I have found Soundcraft Notepad series to be a bit noisy for recording. They are better suited for live.
The Focusrite 18i20 is the more budget friendly option close to MOTU specs.

I have a question though, the mic input levels recorded in my DAW are too low despite having my gain and volume knob at max on the mixer..do you have any suggestions or tips to fix that? Hoping you can reply. Thanks in advance!

As to the low levels, do you know which driver input setup you have selected?
Which DAW you are using and does it have any input level metering? Sometimes screen waveform drawings are not a true level detail.
@@RecordingStudio9 thanks for your response! Instead of mix L+R, I used 3+4 as I was trying the multitrack recording (raw signals only).
I inserted a stage condenser mic on ch1, keys on ch2, e. gtr on ch3 w/ hi-z, and a balanced dynamic mic on ch4. Had no issues with the line inputs from ch 2 & 3--their levels are good, both on the mixer and DAW (I was using Garageband at that time). But the meter levels of both mics from ch 1 & 4 are too low, only at the -20db mark on the mixer, not even reaching 0db 😕 I can hear the mics loud and clear on my headphones though, and on Garageband, the meter on the screen does reach 0. Not sure why, maybe I missed something? Thank you so much for taking the time to read my comments and help with my questions. 😃
@@ja9mariee You can always increase the gain of Ch1 and 2 in your DAW.

Set the Output Type to Mono Line.
Connect the AUX socket to ExFX input.
Connect the ExFX output to 11/12, mono or stereo return.
Use the AUX sends from each channel to send to ExFX.
Channel 11/12 is the return volume of the ExFX
Is it possible to have Effects going through the USB into stuff like Discord and such?
i'm currently not getting any effects i've put on go to Discord. and i have no idea if running Mixer L+R as Input would possibly just give all my friends permanent feedback from their own voices
I'll try and experiment with using the monitor output in headphone mode and see if some routing might solve the issue. I'll keep you posted.
Something to be aware of, while the mixer has an aux out for monitoring, when I use it I loose any effects. So no reverb on vocal if you use the aux out, very short sighted imo!
This is common in every audio mixer. When a function is used for two different purposes, you can only use one or the other. Yes, it would be nice to have a separate knob for Aux and FX, but that changes the size and price factor.

I've put my effect output in the channel 11/mono but it is on the left-channel, how can I get a mono out ?
Make sure nothing else is plugged into 12/R. Also, just plug and unplug into 12/R, just in case it's stuck.

Well, this depends on the number of Mic inputs and Line outputs. Also, which Yamaha are you referring to? AG03/06?
I’m having an issue where I’m using my Soundcraft notepad 12fx as my interface. The issue is that the sound during playback on the daw is playing coming through in tracks I’m trying to record other instruments on. How do I make it so I can hear what I’m recording, and hear what’s been recorded without everything coming through on the track I’m recording on.
I’m recording a synth on channel four of my mixer, and I have track four on the daw set to receive audio from that channel. But it’s receiving all the sound that’s being played back on that track/channel.
Watch the video again from 1:10 and see how I select the USB 3&4 send. You may have USB 3&4 set to Mix L+R.

When I set the 12FX to L+R on 3&4 no matter what I do with the windows sound mixer I cant hear the Mic input and backing track from USB, if I select USB RTN I can hear USB and if I select Master I hear the Mic. I'm trying to sing over a backing track and stream, I've tried setting all the IO to use 03/04 and variations of 01/02 for output but nothing works. The only time I hear both is if I set IO to use 01/02 for both input and output but then I lose the FX and EQ. Very frustrating !
What recording software are you using? Windows Sound is not the best audio driver option for recording.
So this is probably the latest reply ever, but I use studio one DAW, but at the time I was streaming with OBS.
I am still a little confused. I am trying to find a way to send a stereo mix into hardware and back into the mixer.
Not possible with this mixer, because it only has one set of analog output, the Master XLR. You need a mixer/interface that has at least two stereo analog outputs, one for your hardware and the other for main speakers.
EG. Behringer UMC404HD
As for the outputs I don't quite understand - could you potentially send outputs 1-2 just into the aux while 3-4 go straight to the main outputs? Meaning can you get 4 channels of physical audio cables, clearly seperated out of the computer?
No, not that I can see. Aux sent is post Fader, meaning it will still end up on MAIN. If you plan to use it to insert hardware audio gear into your DAW, this will not be possible.
@@RecordingStudio9 I'm not asking about into my DAW, I'm asking - outputs, out of my DAW into physical cables, speaker etc. 4 seperate outs into 4 seperate analog channels from the computer
@@gudmundursteinn That's what I answered, no, there are no 4 separate physical outputs on this mixer. CH 1&2 will only go to AUX if the fader is also up, meaning it will go to MAIN as well.

@@RecordingStudio9 so the 4 outs cannot be routed to aux or fx and not into the main as well? You cannot do 1+2 into aux or fx only and the other two into main, or 1+2 into aux and 3+4 into fx and nothing into main and get two stereo signals out that way. Does it not work like that?

How can i use this in video call meeting, such as zoom?
I was able to set up my sound so they can hear me, and i can hear them, the problem is that the sound from zoom is looping back to them 😭😭😭
Is it possible to hear them without them hearing themselves back?

In the driver, set the USB input from Main Mix to Ch1 & 2. This will send only your Microphone to zoom, so they can hear you, but you will hear yourself and them at the same time. But if you need to record the meeting, then only your voice will be recorded.
There is option to record both audio, yet still only send your mic, but bit more complicated for text, and needs a video to explain.

Are you windows or mac user? Because either I’m missing something or I don’t know, because on mac there is no way to choose 1/2 or 3/4 (input or output), it shows notepad 12fx as a singular option 😔
But let’s say it is 1/2 or 3/4, so basically the rest of the channels will not be sent, so if i have 4 mics and a piano on 5/6 they will hear only channel 1/2 or 3/4, right?
It’s so strange that there is no loopback on/off on this mixer, or maybe it’s just me that I don’t get how to do it 😭
@@emanuelabarintos6877 Make sure you install the driver for MacOS.
You can use the Monitor BUS as headphone to achieve, but as I mentioned, It's too lengthy to explain by text.
There is no simple solution as the mixer is not designed for this purpose.
Better options are TASCAM Mixcast or RODE Podcaster Pro, built for this specific feature.

It is true that whatever you have the gain and eq set at is not transferred to ones DAW while recording?
This depends on your USB audio routing selection. True if you select Ch 3&4 and Ch 5&6 etc. If you choose Main Mix for USB 3/4, then EQ and FX and fader levels will be included.
PS. The USB audio Ch 1 to 12 is after the gain knob, before EQ when you select other than Main Mix for USB 3/4.
@@RecordingStudio9 Thank you for explaining but I don't fully understand. I'm sure you explained it correctly. I don't understand how one choices "the main mix" for 3/4...so only those two channels will transfer whatever gain and eq is set at if choicen? Any chance you'd consider making a vid about how to use this mixer/interface with the intention of carrying settings over to DAW?

Correct. USB is 2in/2out. To record all channels, you can select MAIN for combined stereo.

haha and now I'm even more confused...I just wanted to know how to connect my mixer to the mobile to be able to be a guest on Tiktok and play guitar and sing...apparently I have both the wrong support...and wrong things since I did not buy the mixer at their place and they told me what adapter to buy ..I asked if they could tell me if there is som wrong setting on the mixer and the guy blew up on me and was not nice at all...whey would they give support if I did not buy the mixer there...well you had no problem to tell me what to buy to get it to work (and it did not) so now I'm even more confused

Well i was going to use the mixer with a mik and the guitar to via the guitar to be a guest on other ppls lives on TikTok but apparently they say they cant hear the guitar nor the mik. So i tried to get support and that backfired too. So what i was wondering was. Is it any other settings i most do on the mixer.
There are buttons that had different use depending on pushed or not. And i acutally need to be able to use the settings on the mixer for the guitar at least since i dont have any way to do settings on the guitar since i use a shadow mic.
I have a adapter for the mobile, lightning and other end lightning/camera3. And a USB 2,0 cable.
I do have a mic but I dont know anything about it since i got it from a friend. But if it works i rather use that then my wireless mic. The end in front of my right ear pushes right over my scar I have after my brain surgery so i would prefer to use the Other one. IF that would be possible.
We tried to do a live but sad to say other people got on the live to and did not stop talking when we were about to try the sound …even though i aske them to please be quiet for a bit. (i am hearing impaired. But i acutally got laughed at so i got so mad i took out and put the hearing aids right in front of the camera, and that just got the one person to laugh even more so i just ended that live that were supposed to be a test of the mixer and other things connected.
But the only thing i got in the phone was if i took out the lightning for charging then i got the text the Soundcraft Notepad 12-FX cant be used because it takes to much energy from the battery. And the text disappeared as soon as i put the lightning cable back again.
But does the mixer. Does it be set in a certain way?
