From work to work - Dutch rivers ride - Dutch bike paths
This is a short ride along the river Maas. With parameters from the power meter and GPS. Dutch are known from perfect cycling infrastructure. And as well from drivers who take care. In general. You can think "why they take care?" - the answer is easy - in most cases they are cycling too. Just in this moment they were forced to drive the car - if they can - they would jump on bike. I decided to put this as public - as now the winter is coming - in Europe - so you can use this as background. The total ride was 50km - but the camera was out of power after 90 minutes. This is not GoPro... so - this is how it was. And it is flat - but nice. I ride in the morning. Enjoy Dutch ride...

    Thanks for this review. You've had this for awhile now, is it still working? Also, any idea what the specs are on the specs for the built in pre-amps on the mic inputs? (assuming there are pre-amps)

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 24 дня назад

      Hi. There are preamps for mics - but I would expect it is something really cheap... I didn't open mine and there was no much specs as expected. It works so far, but after a few years you can see that the resistors for volume set up per channel starts to give you some cracking effect. Cheap one as expected and it is fine if you set the level to something fixed. But - normally I was using channel 1 and 2 for vocals - and this was used so often to regulate the line gain level - that it is slowly starting to ask for replacement or to use different channel and keep those at fixed level. But I use this for more than 3 years now and in various conditions... so no surprise. But other than this - still fine... hope it would work for the next year as well.

    Have you tried using multiple microphones with the eq adjusted to be higher or lower pitch according to which one the microphone performs best with for more accurate sound like how speakers with multiple drivers do it? This is why I want to get a mixer and use more than two microphones.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 29 дней назад

      I would answer like this - yes - I'm using a mix of microphones there with different characteristics. Some wired (for singers - dynamic and condenser beta), mostly wireless (COMICA duo set and handheld wireless UHF double set). You can set the low pas filter per line, regulate equalizer - but that's it - you can't really change a pitch (other than using EQ). The only way to keep this equal is using equalizer per channel - so - if your mics are more less giving you the same signal and characteristic - per channel modification of low/mid/high eq - would help to set same or close to the same feeling per mic. But - if those differ a lot - no way. In this case I think the only decent solution would be to use studio recording mixer - then have all separate lines recorded and use for example Melodyne to fix pitch per channel. But this kind of mixers is quite expensive - compared to what you have here. This one is quite basic - so do not expect too much... But for what you pay - I think it is good. After years - I do not like too much the line volume knobs - rotation is not so handy when you do live performance - slider type is a better solution. Like the main line out sliding level regulator.

      @@dreamersbike Are you getting clicking noises if you use it through USB as an interface? That's what I get with mine if I use it through USB and a review from someone who actually tried searching for a solution makes it sound hopeless.

    • @dreamersbike

      @@user-lh3uz1cp7y - no - I do not have any of this effects as you heard - mine works fine on USB. I think it could be related to the radio which is too close to the interface. Like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This "audio interface" is not well isolated. Did you try to keep this a little more far away from WIFI or Bluetooth transmitters? This USB interface is build using the cheapest silicon - so it is supporting all things at once - Bluetooth and Audio in/out on USB. Not the best solution... but this is what you get in all those cheap mixers which costs less than 200 USD/EUR. I think if you want a little better solution - I would look for Behringer USB series... Most likely they use similar silicon in side - but more QC is done and better isolation.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 2 месяца назад

      Hi. No... the USB is only for PC communication (music card). Power supply is 12V separate to the mixer. I think the problem is the 48V for condenser mics... it could be difficult to power all on 5V... plus every line has a small amplifier... and effects.

      It has low power... my headphones are 250 Ohms... so it would not drive those. Led's which you see are related to signal out level - as it outputs balanced signal. Headphones are using separate amplifier and line. You can amplify a little on input - on channel - but then it would be clipping. Headphones you have to output to external headphone amplifier to have decent level. But this is what you pay for....

    How do you play music through and also record

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike Год назад

      So - you have a normal sound card there on USB. Not the best - but works. You can play music directly from computer to the mixer. The same as recording - there is a line-in on the card (or mic) which you can use to record the sound. This is one solution and this is how I recorded sound in this movie. Of course you have balanced line out as you see - which you can put as input to your sound card (Line-in normally - you just need a proper cable) - and you can record this way. So - two options there. USB - normal sound card - or line out and then you use what you prefer to record. Keep in mind it is just a basic mixer - so no channel separation - like normally you have on real audio interfaces. Currently I use this mostly on stage work - during small events. So - I do not use now the USB - mostly Bluetooth to connect the tablet and play the music - plus microphones.... with some FX for better echo etc....

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike Год назад

      Hi. In general, you can adjust the sound level of the Bluetooth in two ways - first on your phone (I normally set this to max) or on mixer - on channel 7/8 - this is what I normally use as we do the stage performances sometimes where we use background music from the tablet using Bluetooth. It works fine. Just one tip - it is good always to keep the FX set to mute - if not used - the FX is basic module there (at this price) - so as well if you do not use this - and it is not in mute stage - you can hear some noise... like a white noise signal. If you mute - then it is fine - no noise. If you use FX - then - that how it works... but in general, you would not hear this noise so easily.

    Hi, could you share these experience.... Can the mixer set different FX Presets for different input. Such as Reverb for input 1 (mic), Chorus for inout 2 (guitar)? .... Also, for the USB output, is audio signal out in clear original vocal/instrument sound, or its as set with EQ and FX presets selection?

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 2 года назад

      Hi. So far all works fine - still. I use this mostly on stage. So - the FX is one in one time set for all channels - but you can select a channel to be used with FX (second row from bottom is per channel - so the knob is to set the level of influence). Output in USB is with set up parameters. So, what you set is what you hear. Not an extremely complicated - but there is only 1 stereo channel. Cheap... so cheap solution. If the FX general gain is up - you would hear some distortions on output. So, I suggest switching off gain for FX is no FX is planned. Then the sound is clear. I use Bluetooth as well on stage to send a background music (channel 7/8) - it works great as well. So far - I'm satisfied with this at this price. It was good buy...

      Did you calibrate? Both? And - keep in mind that at the certain % of the slope (around 9%) it would stop to increase. If you use the same model as mine. There was a bug in the construction which they were not able to fix with firmware.... so slope 9-10% is max what you would get. But - for normal workouts it should keep the power.... I use SRM and have no issues... so far.

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 7 месяцев назад

      @@northernlightay I normally calibrate this from time to time. The power meter which they use is bad... for sure - not very accurate and there is no firmware control. It is nothing to compare for example to ELITE smart trainers - which are not the best (and difficult to calibrate sometimes), but more accurate if you are lucky to have this calibrated. In general - I use in ZWIFT my own power meter from bike. So the system use only FE-C to modify resistance - so to control the trainer. This works fine and I have no issues - for workouts it is perfect, for rides - you know - there is the issue with max slope which is around 10%. Trainer is smooth in work thanks to the big stone used in the freewheel. So - I would suggest to use external power meter if you can. If you can't - in most software you can add/mod the power level - adding for example 10% in resistance. But first I would start with calibration. But as I mentioned- I would not expect too much from this power meter. Better to use real one. And - it is used now daily and after those few years there was 0 service needed. For what we need with my wife - it works perfect. For more pro - I would jump into other brand.... happy riding....

      @@northernlightay when we tested this - the difference was around 10-20W - actually in my case the trainer was showing more. But as I use a power meter (real - not calculated) - this was not a big deal. I heard the newest models are better - and do have more resistance on slopes - not just 10%.... But to be honest - if you run sessions with controlled power and you use bike power meter - it is not a big deal. And - after 3 years of use (a few times a week) all still works as expected. We still love this one (I use as well ELITO Suito) and actually Thinkrider is much better to ride... thanks to high weight wheel ... but I would not trust too much the power measurements. You can calibrate this to get better results... in the app.

      No - of course not. They did upgrade something in firmware, but not the incline. So, you have max 10% from my tests. Then - it stays on the same level. I would expect it would work fine as well with guitar - but as I do not have one to test - I would be careful answering this question. There is an ERG mode where you can define at what power you can work and it works. So from a Hardware point of view the trainer is able to simulate slopes well above 8% but it is not practical and it is not what one expects from a home trainer and applications such as bkool or swift. He contacted Thinkrider directly and is in contact with them. They are aware of the problem. Also on the Zwift forums a lot of people encounter this problem: forums.zwift.com/t/thinkrider-x7-smart-trainer-problems-with-slopes-higher-than-8/514612 There is a slope simulation problem on Zwift, no more than 8% encountered by many uses. I would like to know if Thinkrider will fix this problem by updating the firmware.

      Check the model. There are two models. This one can easily give you much more than 1000W resistance (max what I did was 1700W... for a short moment). There is cheaper version which is with small resistance. So far - we had no issues with all Zwift slope levels. And we tested the power output with Stages and 4iiii single side power meters... very close to reality. Let me knowo what you use to control the ERG mode? You can try with FE-C Ant+. I saw some users were complaining - but in my case - we had no big issues. I use Tablet with Bluetooth controll. Android based.

      Hello, thank you for your answer. I haven't received it yet, it should arrive in a few days. It is the 7x 3 generation thinkrider, the latest model, the most powerful it seems. But it's weird all these reviews you are the first and the only one to say that this device has the 20% well, even some sellers say it has a problem with this trainer to simulate the slope up to 20% on Zwift. When you use it on Zwift, do you set the simulation to 100 or 50% realism? I really wonder when I receive the device to try to return it to China and get a refund.

    • @dreamersbike

      :) This is always a risk. But - I owned ELITE smart trainer - 1,5 years - died. Now I got second as a replacement - new Suito - if you compare quality - there is no compare - I do not think Suito would survive longer (I could be wrong). And - technically - this trainer is very basic from a mechanical point of view. Of course - there could be always a problem with electronics. But mechanical parts are easily accessible and easy to replace. So far - after 3 months - regular usage every 1-2 days - it works still perfectly as before. My son (11) does not want to use SUITO... the feeling is not so great when you ZWIFT. Thinkrider is much more realistic. But as mentioned - there is a risk. Ali guarantee - forget. There is an EU shop - maybe they are willing to repair? Personally - I think it would last for long.

      This is actually my concern too. I contacted the manufacturer to see if they have any service places in Europe but no, theh dont. He said he would send any spare part for free if something broke but which such complex system I cant imagine fixing it myself. Price is really good for such parameters, comparing to wahoo or taxc which are 1200eur for such model. But these well know brand trainers are very vulnerable for failures therefore Im very hesitant to buy it. How many kms have you riden so far?

      I've contacte the sellee to see why the price is that high now ans he says they have few more pieces left in the Poland stock foe this price and then the new set of 100 pieces delivery will again have the price of 500Eur. It doesnt make sense though why the price is dependent on the stock pieces.Let me reply to him asking if he can reduce the price for 2 of us so can order for the lower price. For 750Eur I rather order tacx flux2 with full warranty.

      I have used this one anrancee cycling Store a.aliexpress.com/_mOGGUAL with shipping from Poland. So no extra tax on top. I think the cheaper one is closer to Elite Suito. I have as well this one... but Thinkrider is much better. The wheel weight is the key. Plus X7 can move a little from the nadir - which is great for sprints or climbing. Save some money and go for X7....

    Hi, can you tell me how to calibrate it ? Thank you in advance

    • @dreamersbike
      @dreamersbike 3 года назад

      Hi. Sure - it is quite fast. Look for the app on the Chinese thinkrider website - there is an app for Android. There is one on Google Store - but that one is not the latest... unless they have updated. The one on Google was not connecting... Download this apk and install on your phone. It is in English. Then start the app and there is Raceration calibration button... whatever this means. It would guide you through the process - this is the same procedure as for most of the direct-drive smart trainers. You speed up to defined speed - then you stop and you wait for the trainer to stop... If I remember correctly. Then you should re-do this every month... to have the 2.5% accuracy. Hope it would help...
