I’ve tripled my yarn and I’m using a 9mm hook because I want it to work up fast because I’m getting impatient (lol), and I wanted to use double crochets but hated how there were these massive gaps in between the stitches. Now I can work it up quickly without any gaps! I also was having issues with previous attempts being too stretchy so this is great for that too. You’re a lifesaver!!!❤️❤️❤️

    • @WindingRoadCrochet

      Yes for a treble/triple crochet you would link the the stitch twice I believe. There will be 2 horizontal bars that you can link too.

    I'm relatively new to crochet (intermediate level knitter here) but the holey look of double crochet has given me pause..I know that regular double crochet is ideal for certain things, but I've always wondered about making a blanket in dc...how can I stay warm with all the holes? So thank you so much for teaching us this variation! I wonder, could something like this be done with triple crochet? Very well taught, Subscribed!

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад +1

      Yes, this same concept works with treble crochet. Normally double crochet can make a very heavy blanket that will still keep you warm. But if you have a fan going in the room, the breeze would still come through the gaps and could make you cold.

  • @brief402
    @brief402 3 года назад

    Hmmm interesting. I've always planned for how to make holes smaller with my stitches usually switching up a combination of stitches, hook size, and yarn size.
    I may still try this out and see how it fairs.
    Though I've only been doing this a few years so my "natural tension" isnt 100% set yet, it may help me loosen up. I typically have very tight tension. And it shows in my first project where it started off at 60 in wide and ended at almost 70in, I loosened up a lot in that project once I got comfortable with the habit of crocheting.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад

      Yes that is one of the issues with crochet, the holes. I used to use a smaller hook, but it you need a hole free surface this works.

  • @maggiem.5904
    @maggiem.5904 2 года назад

    I also like this stitch very much . I love the way you do the first turning chain/double crochet, so it is sturdy and there is no gap. I do have a question, though - you said your starting chain was 12 chains. Then you worked your 1st turning chain/double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook. When you worked your linked DCs across the row, you said your row has 12 linked DCs. How do you end up with 12 DCs when you started your row in the 3rd chain? Don’t you have to add two chains to your starting chain to end up with 12 stitches in the first row? I always have trouble working out these numbers.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад +1

      You are figuring it out correctly. It would need to be 14 ch to have 12 stitches. It was just a sample swatch so I am not sure if I had 12 sts and started with 14 chain and just misspoke or if I had 12 ch and only 10 stitches.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад

      It is hard to say. It makes a tighter stitch so you can move up a hook size. That would result in less yarn. If you are swapping this for a double crochet in a pattern then it would take up a little more yarn.

    Revisiting your tutorial for a refresher👍
    How well would this method work in the round?
    Thanks again for sharing your expertise, this has taken my skill level up a few notches 😌😌

      It would work just fine in joined rounds. You would have one hole where the last stitch slip stitches to the first stitch.

      Use "crochet towns" youtube tutorial video on seamless joins in the round. I plan to use that join with this linked double crochet for crochet shorts so there is no gap at the seam and pretty much a seamless join. I think would work for alot of patterns in the round with this!
