- Teenager Miles "The Shoe" Schuman hosted the October 2018 Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp Q/A sessions with Paul Stanley, Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo, and Tommy Thayer. In this rare Q/A with legendary drummer Tommy Aldridge (who admits he doesn't do many interviews,) Tommy opens up about nearly every part of his long career with Ozzy Osbourne, Black Oak Arkansas, and everything in between.

A true southern Gentlemen. and Drum God. Met him once in Palm Springs...when my Silly little Rod Stewart tribute band was playing some club down there, circa '91. he came in. nicest, most down to earth approachable guy. When you're 'Tommy Aldridge....you don't NEED....an Ego.
Been a Tommy fan from the first time I saw him in BOA in '73. He is still playing as hard now as then has a style all his own. Prototype of a rock drummer and a master of the double kicks. I got to meet him in '75. Great drummer and truly nice guy!!
Tommy was a huge influence for Me. Saw Him on Ozzy's tour with Gillis a few months after RR passed. He's a f'n monster! and always will be!
@@loumason6120 Yes sir, he's in a league of his own , especially as a double kick drummer!
Highly underrated IMHO. And possibly one of the best living drumming legends alive.
I totally agree
Incredible talent here...legendary drummer and a heck of a nice guy. Very humble. His precision is just not of this world.
Tommy: "No one is replaceable." Except Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake...
He’s awesome in front and behind the kit.
Great interview,Tommy is a gentleman.
Greetings from Portugal
Tommy hasn’t aged in 40 years
Great as Randy was, I think the best band Tommy was in was the Pat Travers Band. Travers, Mars Cowling, Pat Thrall and Tommy. That's a tough lineup to beat.
Boom Boom Out Go the Lights!
Everyone remember one thing.....We're talking about Saint Rhodes
He didn't even play on those records with Randy, except for Tribute. Go For What You Know is a classic live record from an era when rock bands still had some funk in them. One of the best.
Greg Lamb , I agree all the way! Travers had a great band then....
I agree completely. I was lucky enough to catch that exact lineup in Atlanta. They blew the walls down. Mars and Tommy were both so funky and brought a funk vibe to that intense hard rock band. When I want to hear Tommy at his absolute ass-kicking best, I listen to Go For What You Know. A timeless masterpiece of live, loud, sweaty rock-n-roll.
all time great drummer i love how he always gives Randy some love
I played Crazy Train with him after the interview ended. Cool guy and great drummer.
@Mark Cianfarani LOL
The best rock drummer ever with out of a doubt!!!!!!! We love you Tommy
Great guy... drumming LEGEND.
I love Tommy.. but in my opinion and I'm not sure why Tommy can't see it, but the Pat Travers Band was the best rock'n roll band of that generation of which Tommy was the drummer.. Peter "Mars" Cowling, Pat Thrall and Pat Travers era were an incredible unit. The three albums Tommy recorded with those guys.. Heat In The Street, Go For What You Know and Crash and Burn was the best work Tommy ever did..
No one gives a shit about Pat Travers dude.
Tommy did amazing drumming on those black oak albums.
Richard Alderson , great comment, I and a lot of others agree, Travers had a heck of a band...
Great drummer .super nice guy
Legend HOF DRUMMER
Tommy…a gentleman ❤❤
Best rock drummer ever! A rockstar and a true gentleman!
legendary rock drummer
Tommy has always had my respect as one of the greatest drummers of all time. Whoever he played with.
the best drummer alive
Rock needs to beat out the now a days pop and rap and be main stream again it could change the US and make it happier place like the 80s where.
Great interview, wonderfully honest in a way you don't hear these days.
A fantastic drummer very honest very funny and calls it how it is, I thought his best work was with Whitesnake
I agree 🎶 Tommy is the best drummer ever 🎵 🎶 !!
I used to lament Tommy being in a band like Black Oak until the internet gave me some perspective. When he was in “supergroup” Whitesnake w a good singer and guitar player , his playing did not fundamentally change, in fact now I enjoy watching him w BOA even more because the musical absurdity of that situation allowed him to stand out to an even greater degree. . The blue drums, the huge single tom , the suspenders .. He’s being very humble here .. IMO none of the newer drummers can hold a candle to him, sound , flow , showmanship or groove wise. I’m a jazz drummer primarily as anyone can see by YouTubing my name but Tommy remains one of my favorite drummers of all time . Mt Rushmore of drummers, any era, any genre. True drumming genius
Jim Dandy was a good singer, maybe just not one you care to listen to. I'm not the biggest fan of his, but the man could sing.
Aldridge and their bassist Pat were the best of that band, imo, but none of them were slouches.
Great questions, Miles. You asked him everything I would have asked him. I saw Ozzy play in Philadelphia (with Brad Gillis on guitar) shortly after Randy was killed. I was very happy that the tour wasn't cancelled just so I could see Tommy play.
Smooth dude.
Could you imagine the stories this man has to tell..
Great guy, amazingly intense drummer!
This certainly is rare - it only happened the once!!!
I saw BoA supporting Black Sabbath on that UK tour - wow, what an awesome gig that I'll never forget :-)
Yes, I don't think there is much doubt that's who he got it from :-)
the best drummer ever he is thin but he has so much power in his hands
Amazing the things he’s seen and been involved in. Even more amazing is HES still an animal player. Hasn’t lost one step in all these years. Goes to show you don’t stay in that business by being a prick. Great guy. All the best !!
I love his hairstyle as much as I love his drumming
Strength. Showmanship. AND Chops? Drumming doesn't get much better than Mr. Tommy Aldridge ! Love the guy (one of the nicest guys in the world !) and definitely one of my fav influences. Take notes young drummers, if you want to learn how to have a 40 year career playing the drums !
Tommy is the best! 🤘🏽🥁🥁
A gentleman and a legend! AND funny! ha..
Tommy Aldridge kicks butt!!!!!
Ozzy Osbourne and whitesnake...
So cool Tommy still has all that hair. I once asked a bold headed friend "who's hair do you wish you had?" He said "anybody's !" 😝
Tommy was a young drummer in the orchestra at Ford’s Theatre the night Lincoln was assassinated.
Tommy is the Eddie Van Halen of drums...doesn't go anywhere without his sticks;
And his hair
"Diarrhea of a Madman". Classic. 😆
you always here that Randy was unhappy and him saying that Randy signed some contracts or whatever he regretted and thought it would come back to haunt him. Tommy always was a great drummer black oak arkansas ozzy didn't matter he was always in time and every beat was perfect.
Brad Gillis was insane on Speak of The Devil....
Talk about a guy who's been around.
He his hilarious 🤣 😆 😂
Make no mistake about it, Randy and Bob Daisley were responsible for the amazing songs on BOO and DOAMM, and also Lee Kerslake and his style of drumming.....and yes Tommy, you are correct, nobody can be replaced except by people who are willing to be replacements.
Love his sarcasm, he once asked me if I played, if not I should shake my head my eyes were stuck or something 🤣
I just wanted to mix him live.
Still do..call me😉
Fucking Legend
I would think the best would of been Whitesnake with Sarzo, Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell...They were tight AF...
Question for Tommy: Just how badly does Sharron rule Ozzy?
Did you know Steve Murphy?
Tommy write a book..honey😊
Question: So when was your last haircut?
Answer: Never had one.
Question: have you ever brushed your hair?
Ozzy!!!! he must have dump the poor fellow....
whitesnake !!!!
Did he say diarrhea of a madman? 😂
hmmm, to be fair the entire band BOA was ripped off by management. The truth is with out that exposure with Black Oak, a national act on the move when you can meet other big players in the game Tommy may have never made it. Exposure, right people, right place at the right time is how people make it. Of course you need talent but great musicians are a dime a dozen every where. they just can't get that stepping stone. no offense to Tommy but that's a little unfair. He was a kid that got national exposure on the big stage.
I think this dude is a tweaker
You think wrong.
He's very healthy. Still rides a bike and stays in shape. He's 70 and still a powerhouse.
ALLMUTANTER no man, he is 68 and beats the drum kit like it owes him money.. you definitely need to re-evaluate ✌️
ALLMUTANTER and that's where you're totally wrong. He got out of Black Oak Arkansas because he didn't like the drug scene that came along with Jim Dandy and crew
