- Got a 30 win streak in Open Ultra League with this absolutely busted team with Registeel, Tapu Fini and Talonflame. Registeel is especically broken and definitely deserves a BIG nerf, it's just way too strong in the Ultra League currently. This video will showcase why. Also get my starting ELO near the end of it. Good start, excited to start the road to legend!

Zap Cannon on Regi was the such a stupid idea from Niantic.. It s so sad that they do this, its like Bronzor in the lil Cup just to busted..

maybe if they gave him solarbeam or leaf storm instead. Definitely helps with coverage but isn't busted.
Registeel was already top tier in both great league and ultra league, and then they decided to give it zap cannon...
@@harrytoms90 the problem with that is I am preety sure it can't get the move in other games so Niantic cannot do that, but leaf storm could be cool if it could get it

I’ve had fun with snorlax venusaur and Electivire. Two shield electivire is very op from my experience
Idk if it was you, but earlier I faced somebody with this team and I won, although it was very close. I also use Fini lead but with Trev (L40) and XL best buddy Umbreon in the back. They ended up catching Moonblast on Regi in the Fini mirror after playing the 1 shield which had me very worried, but Umbreon's crazy bulk came in clutch in the end.
Ironically just came across someone using this team while watching this video at the same time. Saw the Tapu Fini lead and had a hunch they might be running this team. So I decided to keep my Swampert lead alive for the possible Talonflame and Registeel in the back and swapped out after hitting it with an EQ. Glad I made that choice, ended up being right and allowed me to win the game. Congrats on the 30 win streak!
Alolan Golem is a hard talonflame counter and causes a lot of grief to Tapu Fini too. Glad to see you can show this team can be beaten. Probably thos opponents were simply not expecting this team comp

I used to never run Regi cause I just couldn't get value out of him unless he hardwalled something. I've ran him the last couple days and I'm typically a 2500-2700 tier player (scrub), and I've taken my win rate from 62% up to 69%. Its busted, even gives Giratina and Goon a hard time.

A 7% improvement is not exactly anything to boast about and no proof that is it busted. I run registeel though but minus zap cannon which costs an elite tm to get.It simply isn't that awesome.
Was watching the stream, didn't Regi also take a few Close Combats from Granbull and survive?

With all of these regi running around, I'm going to build a high attack for the mirror. I'm typically anti registeel but wow.

Nice team. Time to power up my Tapu Fini. I got 11-0 with BB Pidgeot, Snorlax and Payback Machamp. It's so unexpected 🎁🤠
Ugh I have a pre lvl 50 regi for UL but it lacks zap cannon. Not sure if worth elite tm for such a bad if Regi especially if they might nerf the move.
I have a regi for ul that's meh but I'm like 30-40 candies plus 7 xls short. I kinda wanna build it anyways just to see lol. I've not invested in a crazy amount of UL mons but I'm seeing regis errwhere and I want to try it out
Just invested over a million to play with regi lead Dd & Talon ... was going well but some how the lacked and struggled at times ...

Tried out my level 51 Altaria for the first time today with walrein and a drapion lead. After winning 10 of 15 to reach Ace, I just lost 10 in a row mainly due to running into one Registeel after another. Ridiculously busted, definately building a team around Swampert and another counter tomorrow.
I have never seen even one other registeel in hundreds of great league and ultra league games. Registeel doesn't exist in the meta.

What is a good alternative for Fini? I think I'll try out Swampert , Milotic or Gyrados for the water type, Lapras takes super effective from Counters as well as Regi, this might be a problem.
I have been using Primarine Talonflame and Registeel.
30 streak is insane. I'd rather they brought back Premier UL and keep Zap on regi though, that way players who don't have access to XL regi can still enjoy UL
I’ve tried a non xl one (14/15/13) and it’s nowhere near as tanky as the xl. It has 10 less points in defense and hp, which makes a big difference I guess. Don’t have anyone to trade with because no one I know plays Pokémon go, so I just powered up the best iv one I had.
Same. I use a 15/14/14 and I feel stupid now. Wasted candy and stardust when I can't trade for a better one. Yeah, don't go for XL pokemon unless you can get a really good one, most of us probably aren't filthy rich in stardust to be making those costly mistakes.
@@VeilInfinity I wouldn’t say it’s a total waste, but watching this video, it’s definitely nowhere near as good as the xl one. I still have like 19 of them to trade, but I’m not about to do a crazy amount of raids to get the xl candy for it. This is where I feel like pvp is somewhat of a pay to win system.
I also built up my 13/13/15 one after watching this video. Although not very tanky, its still decent enough. I went 12/15 in my 3 sets using this team and reached Ace, with tapu also not of ideal IVs. I think this team would be good enough at 2000-2500 elo levels..
What are the iv's of that fini?
Honestly for the ultra league I’ve been using walrein charizard and cobalion works really good if you know how to play with them

The only reason I haven’t upgraded either of my registeels was because I thought they would’ve nerfed it by now 😭now I’m thinking otherwise…
Honestly, even nerfed Pokémon don't become unusable most of the time, just slightly less broken

Fantastic bulk, great typing, and a spammy, powerful moveset that provides great coverage and guaranteed debuffs. Perfectly balanced.
I tried to trade with a friend for PvP IVs and it became a randon lucky trade that was 14/15/15, I just built that for UL and saved my dust! It's still a beast in the right matchups.
I was complaining about UL Regi to my PVP mate last night. And low and behold Tho makes a video to help make my complaints feel justified! This Pokémon was OP before the 100% debuff ZC, now it’s just broken.
I can't even imagine of me getting 25 win streak 😂
Tho, been feeling similar sentiment about Regi’s destruction of UL. Shadow DNite/GFisk/RegiS has been working alright for me but would love to see some updated UL GFisk teams.

That could definitely work! Less solid versus talonflame, but you will have an easier time versus walrein

Would you say a 100% IV Regi would be as busted as an XL? Way too difficult of a grind to get an XL one. 😅
Definitely a big downgrade but since Registeel is such a dominant force in UL right now (99.5 rating on pvpoke) a level 40 hundo should be runnable and make it a "fine" Pokemon unless you want to push for legend. Checkout on stadiumgaming rank checker how much less defensive/health it actually has (its 13 defense and 9 health which is really a lot). Regi is sadly one of those where having XL is a huge upgrade because of its monstrous defense.

Regi doesnt have a directly counter pokemon.. so go for it.
The only thing i hate about registeel is a full hp one cant even be knocked out by one super effective move. Its stupid defensive and it hits stupid hard and recharges stupid quick. Though the biggest stupid is me because i dont have one.
I've been holding off building all 3 of these mons cause of IVs. Just wondering how much do they matter?
It matters enough to keep waiting for better. You're putting in too much stardust and XL candy to just go for an okay-ish one.
I have a 15/12/13 lucky Talonflame, is that good enough for Ultra or should I try to get a better one?
If you best buddy it then it's probably fine. Without the best buddy, he caps at 2458cp, which is very unfortunate. It's not like Talonflame is a legendary where you're going to take forever to get your XL candy. If you find a better one later you can still reasonably build another one to replace it.
Myself, I waited to get a better one simply because I figured I'd run into tons of Fletchlings and would eventually find something awesome. But I'm also more patient. If I had a team in mind and something I really wanted to run, that lucky status might convince me to give it a shot.
I have a Regi with only Flash Cannon, is this team working also with Regi Flashcannon
You need Zap Cannon. Use an Elite TM.
been running trev walrein core with blaziken in the open ultra league blaziken beats registeel in an even shield scenerio. also beats walrein and trev too I believe.
The Trev matchup is super sketch cause Blaziken gets one shot by SB and Trev can live a Blaze Kick. Walrein eats Blaze Kicks and threatens a one shot with EQ so that's also sketch.
@@ElliotUnbound oh yeah true, but if you wanna run blaziken you want to give him shield advantages almost always. only if they swap in a registeel to your lead you can swap in blaziken I guess. I also was thinking about running blast burn for that trev reason. but idk
How important are IVs for the ultra league registeel? I am thinking of building up my 13/13/15 registeel as I have the resources to build it up.

near perfect stats won't help with bulk/ break points against scrafty/ talon in the 1s. you'll get farmed pretty hard

Is 14|15|15 good iv for registeel? I have it shiny so I just prefer it but I’m not sure if it loses more matchups due to IVs.
It will lose more matchups for sure. 7 less defense and 5 less hp than Tho's Regi. That's enough to barely get knocked out by more EQs than you'd like, especially when you see shadow Swampert.

I never had access to registeel, got 4 from free remote raid passes and am still trying to best buddy one to up it for UL. Don’t even have a GL one built with how expensive even building other mons for any other leagues. GL is where I shine and even there I have problems. Love/hate relationship with this game.

What's a good Tapu Fini sub for this lineup?
Just get a XL BLastoise there, tankier. Can also take out Scrafti etc. and has Ice Beam for the Giratina. At least Ice Beam comes quicker than Moonblast.
I’ll add fini to my list of legendaries to power up.
Machamp is straight slaughter against regivag. Also excadrill, stunfisk, wiscash. But besides those.. the next best useable Pokémon in ultra is Swampert but it’s like a 350 battle rating lol
Not many use Excadrill because it is a glascannon. And it dies to one Focus Blast already before it can fire of the second Drill Run. For Stunfisk, use a shield to get one EQ blocked and Stunfisk will sweat as well.
long ago niantic nerfed flashcannon for regi......and now they give him a much more op move! xD
Do yu want to know how to nerf registeel? Buff both golurk and runerigus, the only pokemon who double resist everything regi throws at them ( except flash cannon, but wth running flash cannon regi right? 😆)
Deoxys is like the other fighters no match for Registeel. Just debuf it to the bone with Zap Cannon. I had several coming in as safe swap but you just outdo them. Deoxys doesn't have stab fighting moves and the specials don't do much either. That's why Registeel also laughs at Deoxys.
I love Open UL, but yeah 100% agree Registeel is such a busted Pokemon there. I'm FTP, so I have barely any XL, and use the (DB) Gira-Venu core. That oversize tin can beats both those mons despite throwing resisted moves only.
I have a Hundo Registeel, can I use it or does it have to be one with low Attack and high Stamina and Defense? Unfortunately, I only have 56 XL candies.
Hundo registeel would max out at Lv41.5. That means it is almost enough XL candies for powering up for ultra legaue. The Rank 1 does have low atk/high bulk and maxes at Lv50. But having access to hundo means you could also power it up to Lv40 and run it as best buddy. This would give you CP of 2478. This way you can run it in both ultra league and ultra league classic. You can still get a good value in the open ultra league even though it isn't a rank 1. Unless you have a lot of resources to run multiple registeel, I feel some approach like this would give best returns for given stardust investment.
I feel there will not be a ultra league classic, only premier.

Tapu Fini is a legendary and second charge move costs 100 rare candy. To power it up to Ultra League is also expensive. For that much cost, it better perform well. Same goes for Registeel.
Hardly busted that the most expensive pokemon are the best. Talonflame is cheap as chips and still awesome and a great regi counter. Flame charge does him in nicely.

@@David_Toth I compared both rank 1 (level 50) with a raid one (rank 1185 level 43.5) in the 0 shields the rank one wins only one more match up and only 5 battle rating difference, in the 1s the level 43.5 wins 1 more match up but the rank one has 25 more battle rating, in the 2s a similar battle rating difference as the 1s but the rank 1 wins 2 more match ups, I would consider building the rank 1185 which only needs 76 XL. I have a traded one rank 452 but it needs 256 XL.

Talonflame is even quite accessible, probably the most accessible XL Pokémon in the game since it’s had 2 com days and spawns in the wild during both seasons with guaranteed XL trades

Toxicroak and Scrafty both beat Registeel in all even shield situations. Just played my Factions battles vs 1 💪🏽.
Reisteel and talonflame are both pretty broken for sure
It is annoying that with the way the game works nerfing registeel would necessarily nerf other pokemon, they really just shouldn't have given it zap cannon.

XL Mandibuzz is very great. I love Mandi already in GL, can take so many hits.
Why are you using Zap Cannon on Scrafty, when you can easily use Focus Blast to boom.
Need two moves anyway, and ZC can debuff.

@@IMMOFMYT machamp will leave that fight almost dead and machamp have tons an A LOT of weakness in the UL.. regi in the other hand just have machamp as a soft counter..! Otherwise you are fucked but lest say you win against the regi then came talon farming that machamp leftovers and gg.

Regi does not need a nerf. Flash cannon nerf made Regi really bad so it had to be buffed imo. Otherwise it would’ve stayed in the shadows of Stunfisk and be unpopulair because of bad matchups.
But not with zap cannon... zap cannon is so busted for an extremely fast charging pokemon, especially for those who are so bulky. Regirock, porygon is fine bcs they're not as tanky as registeel. In Ultra, Registeel basically almost has no hard counter in zero shield.
@@farhanfarr8368 Golurk with ground/ghost typing double resists both moves. It would have been great if astonish was a mud shot clone but the only viable fast move on it is mud slap. But it has access to earth power and dynamic punch; two hard hitting moves and shadow punch for bait.
