HOW TO: Color Blocking with Dip Powder!

- Check out how I go about color blocking. I didn't really have a clear idea what I wanted to do this week, but opening my Dipped in Sparkles order yesterday had me inspired. Easier way is to apply the tape, then base, then remove tape, then dip. It allows the dip powder to dry without being damaged 😊 love the set though!

The colors remind me of pottery or like brick/stone buildings because of the terracotta color with the stone look gray! ♥️

Another idea, if you're willing to pay a bit more, is detailing tape for car art. It's about 1/4 to 1/8 inch used for pinstriping. Likely, you'll have to get on line or at a car parts store, but it will be much easier to "detail" as it will curve and leave a great, distinct line.

I never would have thought to put these colors together but they are beautiful! I loved seeing how you did the nail tape too. I haven’t done that enough and the last time I tried it didn’t turn out to great 🤪
It took me a few times to get it down! And as you saw it still messes up sometimes. But most mess ups can be fixed!

What striping tape do you use? Any color of striping tape I've tried to use with base bond always bleeds and doesn't have great stick. Great video! I always learn so much watching your videos!
Thank you! This was one I got from Amazon a long time ago. Tapes with brighter or darker colors definitely bleed more. You can prevent this by topping with a gel base coat or a smudge free top coat before adding more dip base as it's the resins that cause the bleeding :)
Can you use peel off base coat on dipped nails after applying dip for a base natural color, then use peel base, then your dip powder color you like? so you can peel off just the top colored layers?

I usually say it before I apply. With dip there's a base resin and a top coat resin that's only used for top coat. Hope that helps

How do you remove your dips? Have you ever tried any of those brush on, flake off liquids? Are there any that work well if you don't want to be soaking in acetone for 15 minutes at a time?
I have a removal video. Normal soak off is 5 to 10 for me. Now though, I have been doing builder gel on the natural nail, gel top, then peel base and dip. I haven't soaked in a month at least.
@@MelissasManis Hey thanks for the response. I just watched your removal video with the hot water. I will try that for sure. I apologize I did not fully understand the second half of your reply! I am far from an expert so you lost me ....lol were you saying you have been using different products (is builder gel like polygel?) and putting a gel top coat and curing and THEN putting dip base coat and still dipping and them also adding dip top coat? That's a lot of layers...if you haven't been soaking are you filing that away?
I have been building a base with builder gel, similar to polygel but thinner. Then I do a gel top and cure it so there's a smooth surface.
Then I apply 2 layers of peel base, let dry, and dip as usual.
This way I can pop the dip off and keep the builder gel on the nail. Then o just have to fill the bg and I can do the whole process over. I don't file down or soak anymore

Yes! It doesn't gum up at all and I dont even wait 30s after activating. Definitely very user friendly!

I usually just use whatever I have on hand. Id be willing to try it though!
how do you keep your nails so healthy?
I try not to over file them, really that's all! I use cuticle oil but that mostly just helps the cuticles
