Wow that person took a lot of focus to give you that feedback, maybe if they put the same amount of effort into their own channel they wouldn’t need to critic yours. I think people are always looking for quick growth but most of the time in reality it’s more of a discipline. Watching your first videos inspired me to start my own RUclips channel (haven’t started it yet lol but will be soon) my plan is to give it ten years and first work on the discipline of posting consistently. Keep doing what your doing, don’t be too hard on yourself girl. Your not letting anyone down nor are you misleading us. We are all big enough to take responsibility for the content we watch on YT. I’m 41 and fully inspired by you so thanks for posting. And hey at least the feedback gave you content to make a video about 😂.
Hi @VickyTePuniPortraits, the person mentioned in this video, and the one you referred to as 'that person,' is me. First of all, I think it’s wonderful that you love Jen and want to defend her. However, while defending someone, it’s not very fair to criticize or undermine someone else you don’t know. The feedback I gave wasn’t meant to harm Jen; it was part of a broader effort to address potentially misleading content. Specifically, I focus on claims about achieving monetization in 30 days because I think they can unintentionally demotivate new RUclipsrs. This wasn’t personal to Jen-it’s something I’ve brought up across multiple channels. I’ve been working hard on my own channel for five months now. I’ve uploaded 90 long-form videos, 180 shorts, and 20 live streams-290 videos in total. This has required more than 600 hours of effort. If you’d like to see the work I’ve put into it, I’m happy to share my channel with you privately. Before starting RUclips, I worked full-time as an academic consultant for 12 years. I decided to shift gears and try something more enjoyable and creative, which is why I started my channel at 46. I’m also a subscriber to Jen’s channel and watch her videos regularly. I truly admire her content, and she’s been incredibly kind and thoughtful in her responses to my comments. Her grace is rare; most other creators I’ve reached out to about similar topics didn’t even bother to reply. However, some of your comments about me, such as “And hey, at least the feedback gave you content to make a video about 😂,” felt unnecessarily harsh. A more constructive tone might serve everyone better. My goal has always been to offer insight and create a more transparent space for creators, especially those who rely on RUclips as a serious source of income. By understanding realistic timelines for monetization, they can plan better and avoid unnecessary hardships-something I learned the hard way. I hope this message clarifies my intentions. I’d also ask that you consider being a bit more thoughtful before commenting in situations like this. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and my apologies to Jen for sharing this long reply here.
@@AntonioCirone STOP USING JEN'S PLATFORM TO GET VALIDATION! It's pathetic. Just because Jen acknowledges your comment doesn't mean you can come here and use her platform to feel good about yourself. Go find yourself professional help. Your need for validation and obvious lack of social skills can only be properly assessed by a professional. Also, go outside and touch some grass instead of spending so much time, energy and effort on someone else's channel, go focus on yours only. The hypocrisy is hysterical as your comment to Jen was unnecessarily rude, showing clearly that you disgustingly think highly of yourself as you wanted a reward for giving your unsolicited analysis. It's commendable that Jen responded to you with such education because, for obvious reasons and pointed out by yourself, other creators treat you by ignoring or responding with the same tone and disdain as you deserve. My thoughts exactly. This guy's need for validation is pathetic and to come here and use Jen's platform to get his own channel visibility is even more sad. This guy must have too much time on his hands and it's commendable that Jen even acknowledged his comment, cause he was so rude and arrogant that I would have ignored it. I’ve watched most of your videos and you have repeatedly expressed the big picture of your success. I understand wanting to clarify (you are quite transparent), but for anyone that has actually watched your videos.. you haven’t been misleading at all. Appreciate all you do and aspire to help even a small fraction of who you have helped. 🤓💙
Besides those people that are starting their brand new RUclips channels there are just as many re-starters or dabblers. Those of us that have followed your journey and watched your videos know of your previous RUclips meanderings. So by no means did I feel falsely misled. What I appreciate is that you have shown what can happen if you take a channel that has just been kinda there, what would happen if you apply yourself and throw some time at it. I too have a full-time job so crushing it in 30 days ain’t gonna happen. However, just having your story in front of me has helped keep me going. Your sharing your struggles and vulnerabilities and sheer honesty has helped me push through when I’m tired. And what I love love love is that you have stated in other videos how you want to make sure your in real life relationships don’t suffer. So with that, I’ve tried to make this journey well rounded. It’s easy to get obsessed with YT. The dopamine hits are palpable. There is always something to watch, some more to learn, more to do. But I definitely realize results vary. And I feel empowered that much is possible if I apply myself ‘cause you have shown me what’s possible. So I’m growing in a fun way. So thank you. Please keep posting, this iteration of you this go around I’m sure must feel remarkable. Keep inspiring. Keep living. Much love and light from Vancouver, Canada. AJ
I think the way you handled this comment says a lot about you as a person. Instead of brushing it off, you took the time to reflect and share your thoughts openly. That shows so much authenticity and kindness ❤ It’s clear you didn’t have any bad intentions, and your willingness to address it so genuinely is really admirable!
I am going to disagree a bit here with the ones that say that this person’s comment was a bad comment, and here’s why, to me, as a new subscriber, it show me things about you that it might of take longer to see or more watching time for me to get to know you more, it showed me how honest and transparent you are with your channel, the absolute kind way you spoke to that person, being respectful to not show their name, I mean everything about how you handle it, seriously made me like you 10,000 times more than before. I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us and I really loved this video! I apologize in advance and hope I was clear, English is my second language, so forgive me if I made any mistakes. ❤❤❤
I joined RUclips YEARS ago. But when I decided to create instead of consume, I monetized in 5 weeks!!! It surprised me too 🎉 But, it does happen. I documented my entire journey and I post weekly to talk about tips and analytics ❤
Jen, you are so incredibly thoughtful, kind, authentic, and integrity filled! know that comment must have hurt a lot. I think if that person had watched any of your previous videos, they would have known that you always discuss when you really started to pursue growing your channel in September. Maybe it was a final straw for them in their frustration of trying to grow a channel. As someone who is trying, I can see how it can be super frustrating to grow, but maybe in their research they could have watched a few more videos and it would have eased their minds. I wish them success, and YOU continued success.
Dear Jen, It's very honourable that you are going that deep into your response to that. I need to say that the first video was very clear on the fact that what counted was the time that you decided to take it seriously and committed to posting 3 times a week. I can feel that it affects you, and that you are maybe over explaining yourself, or excusing yourself for succeeding when your previous video was so joyful and happy and inspiring. Don't feel like you need to justify anything, it's well deserved, and you're very inspiring! xo Simone
As I started watching this, I didn't know where the story was going to go, but your explanation to the commenter started becoming relatable. Very recently, my friends have talked about doing this RUclips thing "for real," as in creating content with the goal of monetizing. Until now, I had never taken that seriously. A video of yours appeared on my recommended feed recently, along with a few other "RUclips over 40" videos and it's really making me think about it. I'm writing this under my artist channel. The channel was really just a place for me to upload my music in some kind of video form. My oldest video was published in 2006! Watching your video, it made me think about how long I've had this channel and how late in the game I take things a little more seriously. My subscriber count is currently 136 (over 18 years 😆). If I started my content creator journey and claimed I reached 1K in 30 days, I'd have a lot of 'splainin' to do. 😁
It amazes me how some people take so much time to criticise others and yet they are probably not getting the success that you are. Life is too short and to take the time to analyse your stats the way they did is a reflection of them not you. You're helping a lot of people and that's what matters 😃 are you Filipino? I would never have guessed 😊
I love how you knew their detailed reply was from being triggered. You’re all good, tough streets out here online. Just started my channel, I appreciate your authenticity, that’s what I’m about!
Jen, you've always been honest with us about having posted videos before choosing your current niche. The guy who commented was rude, entitled, and not worth anyone's time. You are a very kind and genuine person to make a video about it, but honestly, you didn’t have to. We support you and can’t wait for your next video. Take care.
Jen, don’t worry about what people say. Your channel has been very transformative for me. I’ve been following you for many weeks now and haven’t missed a single video. I’m from Brazil, and you’ve been a great inspiration to me. I just wanted you to know that the algorithm is indeed delivering your content to the right people. Even if some people feel bad, it doesn’t have a direct relation to you, but rather to their own situation. Take care and please keep posting your videos. Thank you!
Sorry you had this comment. I’ve been watching your videos the last few weeks and you have been very upfront with your RUclips journey multiple times. Keep going 🎉🎉🎉
You didn't mislead anyone. Please don't give anyone the permission to derail you. You have the potential to inspire so many people. You're understandably perturbed by the critical comment. Sadly, this won't be the last time you're trolled. Focus on sharing your insights and providing value. Your ideal viewers will stick by you and benefit from spending time with you. I'm one of those fans in the making. Go back to your lovely, happy self. Don't allow anyone to derail you. Best wishes ❤
Just looking at that long story without any spacing in paragraphs, just gave me a headache. They have TOO much time on their hands, doing all that research on you lol. I was drawn to click onto your video, due to your creativity of connecting your mic, to what appears to be a back scratcher lol. I love it!!! Thank you for being you. Have a great Friday and weekend ahead. 💐💐💐
Whatever, I appreciate you. Not because I'm trying to grow a channel but I have ageist friends (i mean ex-friends) who hate to see people in our age group put ourselves out there. Thank you for what you do 🙏🙏
Jenn, I love your content, I wait for your content! You’ve been such an inspiration and you helped encourage me to finally start my RUclips channel. I can relate so much to certain aspects of your content. Thank you for being here, thank you for making the effort! Thank you for being you.
Wow. That was some feedback. I have watched your "success" videos and in each one, it was quite clear that you were not counting those other years because they were not as consistent.
You have mentioned this before in several videos, the commenter though I can understand where they coming from especially if you been doing RUclips for years and you get monetised as soon as you did. But judging you based on one video and needing to comment on it is unfair, they should have checked your other content before assuming. Yeah they have points but that is points from probably being manipulated by many other factors and other channels that promise things but then again also one needs to ask oneself have I actually been doing my part or do I want easy wins as a content creator. Taking myself in consideration as a content creator, I followed allot of advice but harder when you don’t exactly have a niche so I know for a fact I’m setting myself up for a long road in this game but I’m doing content I enjoy. Wish I could have paid for your service and have a one on one, but I’m from South Africa and 150$ is allot here, it’s what people earn in 2 weeks. But yeah thanks for your content. It’s genuine and impactful I appreciate you!
I have watched a lot of your videos. I feel like you said so many times you really started trying recently. It's definitely not misleading. It's actually inspiring that it can actually all work out if you try. Obviously you're putting in the work. I see you on my homepage every single day. I think 99.9% of your audience gets it. That .01% will never get it.
I started watching this channel because I wanted to start a channel, I'm over 50 P.S. I understand why you posted this video. Thank you for being honest..
It was clear to me that the effort of the last few months was how you got monetized. I can see where there could be confusion though. You owe no apology but nice of you to clarify. ❤
Very respectable how you cleared this up. The way you spoke about the commenter and blurred their name was very nice. I understand their concerns about the video you're talking about, but.....personally, I didn't get upset about the video title when I saw it. After watching that video, I also went to look at your first videos and do my own analysis, and you can clearly see the change of when you started really taking it seriously and being consistent with it in all aspects. So while I understand why this person would be upset, also use common sense. No offense to that person in any way. All love ❤ to both parties.
I've concluded that these days creating Shorts is the easiest path to going viral. People have shorter attention spans, so creating concise and expressive content is key (and after posting my Shorts, I am using a lot of Famester to help my content go viral almost immediately). This has played a crucial role in ensuring that my Shorts reach a broader audience and get shared across various platforms effortlessly.
I wouldn’t overthink this. The person who commented was absolutely triggered because he/ she/ they s truck failure with hopes too high. I’m discouraged after doing three toy review videos because I don’t like them and the view levels are low, but it’s in only been three weeks. And I have a job and a family so I can’t do a video a day… so I’ll figure it out or I won’t. We and you can’t feel responsible for everyone who is hurt or triggered by our content, because some will be. You have to push through. Maybe a quick apology and move forward. Even this is too long… meaning it’s giving that one comment or too much power. THATS just my opinion. You’re kind, compassionate and a beautiful person. You’re sharing good things with a beautiful smile. THATS all that matters. Your’e sharing goodness… keep on going. And it was FUN! THATS all that matters. Your joy is so important to this. If you’re getting joy from just creating then THATS A WIN WIN! You’re wonderful and we are here to listen and see you. You give us a gift in every video. ❤
if at all possible, could you do a video on your mindset when it comes to youtube. What thigs do you do to get your mindset locked in before, during and after recording a video? What do you do when you look at analytics and you experience a drop in views, watch time or sub count to keep you hitting that upload button? Which do you think is more important, mindset or technical skills and why? What tips have you used to maintain a positive and productive mindset? How do you stay true to your voice while your learning from other successful youtubers? Have you ever suffered from imposter syndrome and if you did how did you navigate through it or get over it. (my biggest hurdle so far) What mindset shift helped you the most during the beginning of your youtube career? What advice would you give content creators who feel "less than" in such a crowded platform?
Jen, thx a lot. It is tough. Tough tough tough to stay motivated. My channel is totally new. 11 videos, barely any subs or views. Struggling to stay motivated but hanging on in there, learning, watching others and trying to find my groove. But the truth is if you start from SCRATCH, from ZERO it is a much harder job to get seen, grow or monetise instead of reviving a previous channel.
You know what’s cool about this commenter reaching out? It’s like your past self saying hey-I really set the stage here. I did a lot of work. I love how you handled this…I’ll think of you when I adopt the concept and use the language of “iterations” to refer to past self attempts in life. Nice reframe. 🙃
It was apparent to me (by viewing your video history) that 90% of your effort with channel growth has occurred in the past 2 months. So, whether you claim 30 or 60 days to monetization is of little consequence. Both would be equally impressive since a majority of channels are never monetized. Congratulations.
I have another channel that has over 6k subs. I started posting on that channel like once or twice per week in October. Long form videos and a did post a couple of shorts. At the end of January the channel was monetized. But according to this “analyst” that’s not possible.
Wish these people were more creative and started thinking about ways to make money on YT other than Adsense because counting on Adsense to support one's life is not a great strategy. There are people on RUclips selling digital products or offering consulting just as two examples, who could care less about Adsense. The way I look at it is yes it will be fun to say that I'm monetized but it will be WAY more fun to say that I sold 15 spots in my high ticket coaching offer.
That is easy to have happen! I have "had" a channel for 11 years or so, but we didn't upload anything except a few students songs and only had 18 subscribers! I "started" YouTubing on purpose 3 years ago and could totally accidentally make your same mistake!
Eager to listen to more of your content and YES to intentional content creation. Everyone's journey is so different and I appreciate you highlighting that.

Jen, you’re awesome! love your content and love your intention. 🧘🏽♂️⛷️

(my biggest hurdle so far)
What mindset shift helped you the most during the beginning of your youtube career?
What advice would you give content creators who feel "less than" in such a crowded platform?
I like you. You're clearly a good person.
I thought you were pretty clear in your videos. Good response but unnecessary. Clearly no deception intended. You go!
Don't stop! Keep going! @MidlifeWithMarv
@ thx so much, Sabrina! I appreciate you❤️
Love your mic handle 😅
Your channel is awesome!!!
I don’t feel misled by your content but I’m totally curious how it all came about?!
I am watching to you Because I am a new RUclipsr :)))) 🙂↕️😌😂 and I want to improve my English with your Voice.
If I remember in that video you claimed when you opened your channel and let it go “dormant” so when you monetized you did it a mo
That comment looks like Psalms 119
Liar liar pants on fire😂🤭. Sorry 😔 I get silly sometimes 😏. I still think you're ok
