That last step is the power of vulnerability and in most people it elicits a sense of empathy and a desire for the person to do well and get through it. Saying it out loud also psychologically calms you down because you are naming it. I am trying to be as authentic as I can, I do have adhd and the thought of trying to present myself as all together and styled is unsustainable for me so I have adopted the ‘if you like my message you’ll stay but if not then I’m not for you’ I don’t want a million followers just enough to make me feel like my message is getting out there. Biggest obstacle for me is saying ‘Errm’ a lot even when I am slowed down and thinking. I don’t think I have realised how much I must do this in my everyday speech, it was a shock. I have a great vocabulary and don’t feel nervous but it’s obviously a habit that has been there I haven’t noticed. That and touching my face and glasses along. I’m a hot mess 😂but loving the journey.
I like the part about not telling ppl. I have RUclips video where friends follow me and I finally decided to make the jump on talking on camera and just felt more comfortable with starting a whole new channel instead of posting on the one they follow me on
SAMMMEEE. I really enjoyed hearing this part too. There is something relieving and relaxing about posting with no one is looking and just working at the craft of getting comfortable
I normally don’t watch “how to RUclips” creators but you somehow have me engaged! Thanks for the tips. I’m over 50 and just started a channel about starting over my life by living a nomadic lifestyle and right now I’m in a van doing these talking head videos to practice speaking better. 😂 I think I might steal your mic idea. That could add a fun element! Thanks again! 🙏🏼😊
Yes, I filmed in a department store and was talking to a camera/ audience that wasn’t there… but once I said “screw it, I want todo this..” it was waaay easier… I hope I can help you grow. I just began two weeks ago… and I’m nervous but excited to just share my creative perspective on things…. On life… thanks for this video!
So do you have you laptop with the script next to your camera or something?..😅 and you go from bullet, pause, bullet and then edit later? It's Still so hard, im even rhinking of going only ai ..what do you think about this? Way less frustration?! Ai podcasts are already insanely good....im curious about your take on this😊
HI Jen you're blooming ❤❤👌👌Great tips Jen. Love your videos. But can't find yet my room that I can lock because working at home with my hubby around working at home too and so with my son who needs me everytime he's home haha. Thanks for sharing.
The problem that I run into is that I have so much information and knowledge when it comes to spirituality and understanding. And when you’re trying to help someone transform their lives is not just one video but it’s a process. It’s almost like my videos have to be part one to part 50. Meaning everything goes together, is sort of like putting a link in the chain. So to keep everything from coming out at once, I have to strip my videos to keep it simple to stay on point. Because the natural thing for me to do is wanna go deeper. Understanding that it would be too much for a person to consume all at once. (Which is why I’ve written a book) so I struggle with making my content concise and to the point for that one video. Empowering people to understand what’s inside of them by giving a spiritual understanding to biblical scriptures is a hard task when you’re super religious.
Love it! Best piece of advice, which you nailed, is to just be honest and authentic with it. When I talk to or through the camera, it's just a conversation with a little ADHD 😂 to whoever wants to listen. No real pressure for me because I can edit and I don't see an audience. Admittedly, it is a different beast when staring at the camera, though. Practice, practice, practice!
Do it. I’m a hot mess in mine and still get positive comments. If you are real you’ll find your audience. I don’t edit, the lighting isn’t great, I don’t have a mike but I’ve had over 500 views and nice comments. Feel the fear and do it anyway!
@ Oops sorry I am on my other account. My posting channel is @GingerGoesGLP1, no clues for guessing what it’s about 🤣. I hope my laissez faire style encourages you to just launch yourself. Wishing you success.
Sooooo recognizable. The embarrassment is sky-high. I only film when my partner is away or on another floor. As a fellow ADHD'er, is need to script because my head goes faster then my mouth 😂 So I tend to stumble constantly. Funny thing is , when I teach....it's gone. Pfff I hope it gets easier.
You said that we should make videos on topics where we have expertise? I've been trying to document a learning project where I'm not an expert. Is there room on this platform for that sort of content? I'll have to look to see if you have a video about teleprompters. Right now, I'm reading my script on my laptop, which makes me look down.
number 10 would probably not work in my case. i've got around ten videos done but not a single one uploaded because of me fearing the worse case scenario. when i was 9-13 my mom, dad, grandad, brother and uncle died. i'm 45 now and i've learned and still learning of some positive coping skills and i want to share them with kids and teenagers who are going through the same thing now and might be feeling lost, afraid and alone. But my thoughts go to "what if they take my advice the wrong way and they do something really bad to themselves, potentially permanent. I don't think i could take it if someone takes my advice the wrong way and does something like that and if i mentioned that in my videos it may actually drive viewers away any advice would be appreciated because right now its a struggle to either hit the upload button or go in and delete all the videos and give up on it
The closed door is such a big thing! I hate it when doors are open! 😂
😂 seriously- I get so nervous

They were all great suggestions, but I really like #7. Taking the long pause rather than the clap. That’s a really good idea.🤜🏽🤛🏽👍🏾

Omg! Thank you for this. I have tried recording for the last 3 mornings now and this has been my biggest struggle. Talking on camera 😅🤦♀️

Love your content. I've totally stolen your weird mic idea for my tik tok content because I also tend to flail with my hands and I have ADHD.
I think the weird mics draw you in as soon as you click on videos
Quick question, the one on one call can be to review my channel? The only thing is that is in Spanish, are you okay with that?
Hola 😊 sí podemos revisar tu canal, pero discúlpame, soy principiante de español. ¿Está bien si hablamos en inglés durante nuestra cita?
@ perfect, that works just fine for me 😀 I will schedule my appointment
