I remember Jim was loving Moxley to getting pissed at Moxley for doing garbage matches but still loving his promos to getting sick of Moxley during the Brodie Lee feud to feeling how he feels about Moxley now.
Between him and Bray Wyatt, I'm starting to understand that Vince holding people back isn't always a bad thing.
@@alejandromelendez1609 Vince seemed to protect a lot of people from their worst instincts. The only successful wrestler that Vince let go who’s come back or gone to AEW is Braun Strowman, he’s got a good thing going with Ricochet.

Yep, I've been waiting for it too. I actually wanna have the omnibuses for all the Ex WWE guys that come in as hot "game changers" and just descend to meaning nothing and becoming one of the bunch (Malakai Black, Adam Cole, Claudio, Miro, Ruby Soho, Saraya, etc.)
It’s curious that Moxley seems to see himself as removed from the AEW drama, while also creating situations where the returning champion is forced to get squashed by him a week before the PPV just so they can get the belt back on the guy who wasn’t meant to lose it in the first place.

I know I'm not the only one who thought Mox sounded a LOT like HBK during the bad times when he held WWF title belt hostage because he felt like he was 'the man' (due to his coke-fueled benders that caused him to no-show events cuz he's busy partying too hard with his groupies/enablers). Mox isn't addicted to alcohol anymore-- he's addicted to CUTTING and gigging himself on live tv without caring if he shows a camera is a sign/cry for help IMO.
Renee needs to stop enabling Mox trading one vice for another, he literally gets color EVERY match nonstop. And thinks because of Tony, again, enabling Mox to think of himself as vital to AEW-- espcially after Cody left, and after Punk was pushed out (thanks to Mox's indifference over whether Punk looks like a clown or not as long as Mox gets to squash Punk in 3 minutes and unify the Interim titles-- even tho Punk was friends with Mox's wife I thought??)

It's easy to focus on them, but it's really about Tony and likely higher up...These two wore tropes for blame of situation as best they could by design and it's good people are on record but, it's not the main accountability needed...Punk can't look at it because he wants employment, but outside industry we don't shield for Tony Kahn or Vince McMahon...and the U.S government works for American tax payers, not autocracy...Confusion free zone.

However, it seems like Mox wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer to begin with. Not knocking him. Let's face it, someone has to be born dense. Not everyone is naturally an A student and pre-med material.... And the blows to the head robbed him of the little bit of lunch money he had up top to begin with. Then there's the, ahem, lifestyle choices, because everyone knows alcohol makes you smarter.
I remember the first time I heard Moxley on Stone Cold's show I thought "Wow, this guy is unlikeable". And I recall I wasn't alone, as he came off terribly in that interview. Even Austin was getting hot at him.
Moxley said he was in a stressful place at that time and would love to do another round with Austin.

Anyone who listens to this would come away thinking that CM Punk was right all along. The people in AEW are small-time and weird, not serious. Renee is steering him in certain directions during this podcast, indicating she's aware how bad he's coming off.

I hope Tony learned a lesson that I'm sure any veteran in the industry would have told him - do not put your belt on a wrestler who is not signed with your company because they can hold it hostage.
Moxley had no intention of giving up the belt until his demands for a squash were met. But he has a history of that - if you look at his AEW match history he refuses to lose to anyone until he's beaten them first but what comes off the worst here for him is his attitude. He thought the company owed him, even though Tony was trusting him with his championship belt and Tony was also paying him a very large paycheck for each appearance since he was not contracted.
Honestly amazing that Tony had a guy who wasn't medically cleared and he tried to pressure him into working with a guy who wasn't under contract and somehow people think this is a "Punk being Punk" problem.
Dude kept talking about rehab....he sounds wasted. Granted I don't listen to his promos, but I've been around a lot of drunk people.
People also tend to slur their words when theyre angry, the rest of the podcast he spoke much clearer.

what annoys me the most about this story is Moxley's logic that this would be like Rocky 3.
In Rocky 3, Rocky is for all intents and purposes a paper champion who comes up against a real challenger and he gets destroyed and exposed and he loses his trainer and his self respect. His greatest rival then trains him up and with the help of his rival and by exposing Clubber Lang's weakness of not being able to last long in the ring he manages to win the title back.
Clubber Lang did not beat Rocky 10 days before their match after which Rocky considered quitting and then got given a speech by a character no one has ever seen on tv and then suddenly he changes his mind and fights Clubber at the actual match and then wins.
If we had a Rocky 3 type storyline it would have been epic as fuck instead we got this mess. Everyone was surprised that CM Punk didn't watch Rocky to me it seems like Moxley didn't watch Rocky either or he at least watched and misunderstood everything about Rocky.

The thing I see is with everything in AEW they play it out publicly as the snowman leads by example in that regard so he can't really stop any of them doing the same. People may consider AEW the second biggest promotion in the world but that isn't because they are run like a professional business it simply because the owner can currently throw an unlimited amount of money around. So they aren't being run in anyway like a well run place of work.

It's disrespectful how even in an interview with his own wife, Drunk Hobo Moxley won't drop his fake-tough guy BS. I'm amazed he didn't bleed during this whole thing just to keep up appearances. He really does believe he is the second coming of Stone Cold. The only real takeaways from all of this, was the fact even he was working for Hotdogs and Handshakes while as an "interim Champion.' As much as I hate him, he was busting his ass and carrying the company and not even getting paid for it. He should have walked out and taken the title to WWE. Also, the fact he flat-out admitted even as bad as things might have been with WWE, is nothing compared to the drama of the children that run AEW.
I thought I was the only one who noticed Mox slurring the whole interview.
@@cwrisgood It's not just this interview, It's been noticeable for a while. He's gassed and bloated for he gets into the ring. Almost every match he's stumbling around and falling on his ass in some way. He forgets his promos. I know AEW isn't going to admit it or say there is a problem, but I honestly believe he has been drinking again.

I recall hearing in the past that Punk was the one who created the vision and reality of the Shield back in WWE days. Am I wrong? If this is true, why wouldn’t Moxley be more grateful to Punk for his contributions to his large leap of success in the industry? Seems to me like Moxley should have been more than honorable to Punk with everything he had done for him. Instead of Mox feeling some need to do the squash match, shouldn’t he actually have been respectful and thankful for Punk’s helping him with the exposure and ultimate success toward eventual main event status..?
To be fair I think I’d heard Punk wanted them as his bodyguards but I could be wrong. But yea he’s kinda the catalyst for why Mox is even where he is in terms of mainstream success.

@David Berry lol, i think you need to understand how contracts work...at the time, mox was not signed to any contract regardless of whether he was previously or not. He literally could have just walked away with the a belt, and nobody could have stopped him. It could have made aew and tony look brutal if he did. That's the moronic booking of tk. As for the sqaush. Im sure in wrestling storylines are suggested every day, its up to the booker to approve them or not. The end goal, regardless was Mox, drops the belt at the ppv and thats exactly what happened.

@@xcalibur1986 I agree it was TKs fault. That is what Jim has been saying. Moxley had issues with being made to carry the company without a contract and as an "interim" champ. I don't fault him for a hurt ego and being fed up. Having no contract made his strong suggestion feel like a demand I am sure and I am sure he knew it, too.
Punk is highly volatile and outspoken. He also has an ego that is arguably well deserved.
Not even going into all of the other elements at play.
This is OBVIOUSLY TK's fault on many levels and that is exactly what Jim and Brian are saying. You have to manage these personalities and contracts and be a boss.

I have a feeling Moxley has never really like Punk for a while and Moxley refusing to lose to him his the result last year.
This may even sound crazy but Punk and Renee get along ridiculously well if you ever watch them interact in podcasts it's to the point where if they both weren't already taken those two would be dating 100%. I'm not suggesting they ever did anything but Punk working with her so much over the last few years(like the WWE Backstage) then giving her all credit for his AEW return...etc.
