Dave Meltzer said he didn't watch this whole thing but then went on to talk about it for 30 mins like he did and got a lot of things wrong. what a goof.
You know what, I'm a man and I can admit I was wrong about punk. I'm happy he took the time to do this interview, he didn't need to and he went out of his way to provide clarity in those situations he was involved in. I can't say I'm a huge fan but I will say I respect him as a man
And unlike most people there is ALOT of competition for that spot. I think Punk was dead on when talking about how well he walks the line between what’s real and what’s wrestling. This was phenomenal.
Victims of this interview - Tony Khan - Dave Meltzer - Jungle Jerkoff - Colt (stray) - The Elite - Vince Am I forgetting anyone??? Real talk, this is one of the most open and honest interviews ever. A lot of misconception about this dude has gone out of hand and you can tell all he wants to do is make a difference and make a living and enjoy what he is doing. And Tony fumbled the bag big time letting him go and keeping the jackasses.
@@felix0704 He made a comment by saying, "If you're okay with doing five star rated matches by some goof (goof being Meltzer) with a stadium 1/4 full, then we're not in the same business".
Punk hit the nail on the head saying AEW is more concerned with putting on a 5 star Meltzer match then actually growing the TV and live crowd audience. The indie stuff doesn't work long term for an American wrestling audience and its only sustained cause Tony's dad is rich.
I know it’s weird but I like to compare aew to ridiculousness on mtv. The first two shows you watch you love them but then realise it’s just the same thing every time

Or even worse, being completely ok with never making it to WWE. It is better to fail on the big stage striving for greatness like a WM main event or is it better to succeed as a main event for some small Indy fed ? Even main eventing Wembley Stadium for AEW isn't the same as main eventing WrestleMania. Ask 100 random people on the street to name a wrestling event & 95 will say WrestleMania, 5 will say Royal Rumble, and exactly zero will say All In.

As a CM Punk fan, this is was bloody cathartic after years of hearing him being called a cancer. And don't get me wrong, I'm an AEW fan, but the business model needs to adapt and change.
Yes, Tony definitely needs to start doing some long-term booking. These dream matches are fun to watch but without a story they’re only gonna work for so long (and I think we’re close to where they stop working).

You friggin love CM Punk and anything he says is cathartic to you.
@godphoenix66x It's funny, im a lifelong wrestling fan and enjoy both WWE and AEW. Both have a Khan that's running things, and im also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. And the Steelers General Manager (the guy running the team behind the scenes) is named Omar Khan lol. So many Khans making decisions on the things I love😂
1 hour and 50 minutes have never felt shorter. I loved every bit of it. Thanks to Punk for not dodging any questions. Haters will hate but this guy is pure gold.
This interview triggered Tony and the EVPs so hard that they aired the backstage all in footage and proved Punk's words right. It's so stupid, it's like when Tony got so mad at Ariel that he threw Schiavone under the bus. 😂
Not all the EVPs, just the Bucks. Apparently Kenny spoke about the whole ordeal with Punk on his Twitch stream and stated there was never any bad blood between them. Also stated that after the locker room fight settled down, Kenny and Punk talked their stuff out.
@@CarnageRulez469 I saw that and it's refreshing to see someone with a nature intellectual take on it. While I'm not a fan of his wrestling style, Kenny earned my respect with what he said.
That is so true, whenever he was a heel I hated so much and when he went face I loved the guy. This man really knows how to work the crowd. When it comes down to Phil Brooks, I have mixed feelings tho.
CM Punk never disappoints on an interview. Internet wrestling fans may not like him, but even they can't say he isn't as honest as a person can be. So glad he's back in the WWE.
I dunno. Punk has an ego issue and I think his inability to reign it in is part of the reason he's seen as a dishonest guy. He's willing to twist the facts just enough to not be a lie, but also not be the full truth. I truly believe his issues in AEW began when his ego was hurt seeing that some other "Indie" guys did what he said he would do. And because he wasn't immediately shown respect by absolutely everyone in the locker room, he took it personally. His ego is the reason everyone around him seemed "like children."
Yeah Punk lies ALLL the time, but to be fair to him, I think he's just a narcissist, I doubt he realises he's lying, he just remembers everything in a self-serving way
46:48 (Posted after footage released.) I think people are forgetting that the only reason Punk went up to Jack to begin with was because Tony Khan wasn’t doing his job properly. Also, from what Punk describes, Jack sounded pissy for no reason. So, although I don’t defend Punk’s actions, I understand his frustrations. Also, the footage has no audio. So for all we know, Jack said something that ticked him off.
This is how you conduct an interview. The interviewer isnt constantly looking at the camera or reacting in a fake way. Not pretending that everything is awesome. Hardly any interruptions and no gimmicks.
Does Punk have any credibility left? CM Punk is one of my all-time favorite wrestlers and one of the guys that got me back into wrestling, but I hate to say it, I think his credibility has taken some massive hits. CM Punk is not a badass, nor is he a tough man. We've seen that now. Ziggler is a championship wrestler, and could probably kick his ass IRL. Woods wrestled in high school, same. Cody, same. Hell, Daniel Bryan, even with his size difference, looks like he understands grappling and BJJ basics more than Punk. I just have trouble buying that guy as being able to handle people. I know wrestling is fake, but in not seeing most guys actually fight, you can kind of buy into the fact that they'd be able to kick the asses of any number of people. Now I look back at the arguments between Punk and Chris Brown and Punk and Shawn Merriman and wonder "... could those guys take him out actually?" At least Brock and Ronda were champions at one point. Punk got beat by a journalist. It's like if Tyson Fury got his ass kicked by Perez Hilton. I still got love for the guy, but maybe Punk stays out of both wrestling and MMA and focuses on things like comic books, podcasts and... something. Whatever he can do that's non-physical.
@@JacobBen94all those guy you named would also get there asses kicked in mma. 90 percent of the roster would get there ass whooped brock,Bobby and a few others are the rare exception. Punk would probably beat the average Joe tbh
@@cngotham4111 I don’t think he would beat the average joe though, I don’t want to see a man I believe anyone in the crowd could beat up act tough like 2013 again it’s over.
I think this is understated, but CM Punk is one of the most fascinating performers in the history of professional wrestling. This guy has stayed extremely relevant into his mid-40s! And he still looks great. Kudos to him
He’s the first ever “indie darling” that made it in WWE then left in the middle of his prime, became known as the anti-WWE guy, came back to another company and gave them their most successful years, then came back to WWE because he rebelled against the indie mentality. Interesting career.
Truly a cult of personality, and he's always changing it up, he evolves just enough to keep people coming back to him but not enough to lose the core audience that still sees him as the martyr of wwe rebellion, or the indie breakout, or the aew reviver, etc.

I had a feeling CM Punk felt that Tony should have handled business like he is supposed to as boss. Punk acted out because he could. Nobody was putting anybody in their place, let alone him. BEST IN THE WORLD
Yeah it was basically not a man in the room to wrangle in it. Punk was 100% wrong in how he handled everything. No questions asked. But he was 100% right that no one stepped in to handle how wrong he handled things and how wrong other people handled things. Tony needed someone like an enforcer to keep the rules in place, and he just doesn't have that person around him right now, but he really needs to get that person around him ASAP as I believe it will help enforce and increase the state of the product.
Aew is ran like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Tony Khan is the biggest, coward to ever run a wrestling company. You can tell who grew up spoiled. dude hides behind everything when there is a problem or pawns it off to someone else to deal with it. aew is going to go under. once Time Warner gets fed up with aews low ratings and kicks them to the curb, aew will have no major networks to turn to and that will be it for that clown show of a company. And I guarantee you the same stuff punks saying about aew, cody felt the same way, he's just didn't say anything because he doesn't want the drama.
@@Billy-bc8pkit’s almost like he told them handle it he will. In the wrestling business that’s not just lip service. Funny how Taker would get praised for something like this
@@robertritter8444 No he would not. This was a Bruiser Brody move (ironic that CM Punk referenced him). Taker was a company man and did what was best for the COMPANY, which meant doing what was right for business. He wasn't going to pummel Michaels just because Michaels was being a d-nozzle, he was going to pummel Michaels for not doing business. That's why Taker was praised for being an enforcer. He never undermined WWF or the talent either, which is the big difference between Taker and CM Punk, the latter of whom DID undermine AEW both at the press conferences and backstage, and not only undermined the company but the talent too. Punk literally had ZERO reason to put hands on Jack even if Jack was being a d-nozzle. CM Punk even admitted himself that he used to be a d-nozzle, so he's basically being a hypocrite, acknowledging Perry being a d-nozzle just like he was when he was younger, but instead of brushing it off and having a talk to him later, he got physical.
He isn't a leader. He isn't a boss. He is a nice guy. A nice guy with money. Which gives him opportunities to do the stuff he wants to do. Hence make a wrestling company, etc.

Can he finally get his ice cream bars? I know they did do that at AEW but they weren't the same thing. They need real CM Punk picture-on-cookie ones. My friend got one at a WWF house show in 1992 where I saw Warrior wrestle for three seconds and it really disappointed me it was so short... he was in and out in like a minute. I remember asking my friend how it was and he said "not bad".

Now I look back at the arguments between Punk and Chris Brown and Punk and Shawn Merriman and wonder "... could those guys take him out actually?"
At least Brock and Ronda were champions at one point. Punk got beat by a journalist. It's like if Tyson Fury got his ass kicked by Perez Hilton.

But he was 100% right that no one stepped in to handle how wrong he handled things and how wrong other people handled things.
Some dads were yelling "hey how about the kids??". All the other faces took a lap around the ring to high five kids. We didn't have ringside seats but all the kids ran up to the guardrail during the entrances and after matches.
Anyway I never got one of the classic ice cream bars and I regret it. I remember asking my friend how it was and he said "not bad".
Life is most bizarre at times.
Punk played the long game for sure lol
That pipebomb promo came full circle, he cooked mcmahon here as well...
Like you said, and I'd like to think that this company would be better after Vince McMahon is dead. He wasn't lying, Vince McMahon still may be alive, but he's dead to the wrestling world honestly. Punk was right
AEW footage on April 10th brought me here. The day AEW buried itself.
I will always be a CM Punk guy one bill Phil is the GOAT!
Same here!
Tony Khan hearing what Punk said about him. “😳” 🤣
Probably not
@@FeedMeNuggiesoh he will.
My moneys on he "felt in fear for his life" when Phil made those comments 💀
I’m sure uncle Dave called him with all the ☕️
That open eye emoji made more sense if you seen the tony khan gif lol
Oh Corny will love this, and then Punk will love listening to the episode
Lemme guess, your back here after watching that AEW backstage footage 💀💀
You’re
@@TL2354 wow bet that made u feel better #AEWCRYBABIE
I’ve been back a few times since then lol
How did you know?? Get outta my head!!!
Jim Cornette LITTERALLY has called everything that has happened 😂. No wonder AEW fans dont like him. He speaking facts 😂
corny da 🐐
corny da 🐐
Goat
Its not so much that he called it, but rather he's has insider info on the incidents as he and punk have the same lawyer. He likely had the info from punk himself on most of what he's said.
Eh he's been calling a lot of AEWs issues. If he'd taken a job with Tony when AEW started up, Cornettes heart mightve exploded years ago.
This further proves Punk was in the right while the elite and company were in the wrong
how?
@@JohnDoeDeMondo❄️
@@JohnDoeDeMondoI mean Aew going downhill and Tony Khan regret for jack Perry confronting cm punk and to lose punk in the process. Look at aew now 😂 wait till ospreay and the rest leave and aew will crumble.
@@danibanter5689 nah fam. You wish.
@@JohnDoeDeMondo it will man if they owner don't make it a better place and safe people will leave cuz the maturity level of the company is low as hell.
Ariel paid his dues to the universe by trying to get an interview out of Tony Kahn and was rewarded with this interview.
karma is real 😂
Go find the LeBatard interview with Space Coke Tony from the fall. You'll never see eight people get closer to having aneurysms, in unison.
"Hey Tony...when I have a bad day at work, you know what I like to do? I like to TALK ABOUT IT."

@@badladyami gotta check this out was it like a rick james video or something lol
@@badladyami oh yeah, I'd heard that interview. Your description is dead-on.
@@messey12is it on RUclips?
Shout out to Ariel for asking REAL QUESTIONS. This was an amazing interview.
The way he paved and paced the interview. So natural and comfortable for everyone
Always does. It's why Dana White hates him
I love CM PUNK because of the way he doesn’t really care about what others think and he is out rightly himself at all times. The one true straight edge wrestler in the business
Love him or hate him I’m sure y’all watched the whole interview 😂😂
Based off some of these replies seems the haters watched maybe a total of 5 mins and felt the need to express their hate
Fastest 1:50:00 I’ve spent on RUclips 😝
@@Lambzy when your a draw, your a draw, not a big fan of Punk but dam he is entertaining. I’m actually wishing him the best, WWE is on a different level right now and with Punk I’m sure it’s gonna be very entertaining lol
Went by quick can't lie
Ngl I went from hating to loving about a quarter way through the video.
Just back watching this for the 6th time. 🤷🏻♂️
And it’s still just as good as the 1st time.
This was a one star interview.
