The bicycle portrait with the mapie and colours is a brand of tile set material and that’s the image of the bag of cement basically placed on his face. The half circular patterns are spreading the material and the blocks represent building blocks. I’m a tile setter and this just killed me ❤

Gundam Origin is a great comic. It comes in hardcover volumes that are beautiful. Its really outstanding overall.

I agree on Gundam the Origin. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is the OG guy who also drew that manga. Read it few years ago and its fantastic, never seen anyone bring mechanical designs to life on such a level, not to mention he is a master of drawing people too. Its influence to pretty much all the current day manga artists is huge, Gundam really is to Japan what Star Wars is in the west, its that big of a thing and its baffling how little it gets noticed in US.
13:56 There's a book for figure drawing called ´´Hyper Angle Pose Collection Phantom``, and I wonder if Otomo used for that drawing on the right, the man's face looks very similar to the book's model, and even the expression is something you find there, either way, great video.

I bought it from Ebay many years ago for 100, I'm a huge fan of his. It's worth every penny, the illustrations are beautiful. A must have for any fan of his works, or just art in general.
Fun Fact: You can find all the letters of "KABA" in "Kayfabe Effect" -- no coincidence, guys

Ditto. I haven't looked at this book in years until this video made me pull it out and look through it again. I like that after a point in the 90's he is just completely fine with using pencil instead of ink.
